Detect debug mode in runtime?
During runtime, it is possible from the program itself to detect if it is being run in the java debug mode? Well the idea is that if it is running in the debug mode or release mode I can dynamically load the corresponding debug or release JNI classes.
Or just change the LD_LIBRARY_PATH (or PATH under Windows) that the debugger passes to java when it is started so that it finds the desired JNI shared library.

Detect DEBUG mode in ABAP code
Hi all,
Is there a way to detect that we are in DEBUGGING mode in ABAP code.
I need to determine this, because we have function modules that will be runned in a separate process in the background. If i could detect DEBUG mode, i could choose not to run these modules in the background, making debugging them possible.
Regards,
Rob.When you debug a program that calls function modules using the IN BACKGROUND TASK addition, they are processed in a background work process (additional internal session). If you set the In background task: Do not process option, the system collects the function calls, but does not start the background work process. The Debugger assigns a transaction ID, which identifies the background work process uniquely. You can now start the Debugger for the background work process using transaction SM58. You can select the function module concerned here, and then execute it via the Edit menu.

There is a system variable SY-DEBUG, not sure if it works, though.

Detect debug or release build from AS3?
Hi, is it possible to detect the build type (debug or
release) of an ActionScript Project using AS3 code?
I use a FPS counter, but it would be nice if it would only
show up in the debug build.
Thanks a lot in advance!var isDebug:Booleab = (new Error().getStackTrace().search(/:[0-9]+]$/m) > -1);
Here are the sources that I found this answer...

http://michaelvandaniker.com/blog/2008/11/25/how-to-check-debug-swf/
Here's yet another take on solving this issue by using the compiler argument: "-define=CONFIG::debug,true"
Personally I prefer the above solution.

ABAP Runtime error in debug mode
Hi all,
I am facing foll. run time error in debug mode
Runtime Error DBIF_RSQL_INVALID_CURSOR
Except. CX_SY_OPEN_SQL_DB
Possible causes in the application program:
Within a loop (SELECT/LOOP/EXEC SQL), one of the following
statements is used:
- MESSAGE (apart from MESSAGE S...)
- COMMIT WORK
- ROLLBACK WORK
- CALL SCREEN
- CALL DIALOG
- CALL TRANSACTION
- SUBMIT
- BREAK-POINT
- WAIT
In debugging mode, a program sometimes triggers
a "COMMIT WORK" during the database selection. As a result
this termination may also occur in debugging mode with a correct
program.
A "COMMIT WORK" during debugging may be due to the following reason
1. A program or screen was regenerated
and updated in the database.
2. Each user needs a private process in debugging mode, but
the number of available processes is restricted. If this
limit is exceeded, each debugging step then requires a
"COMMIT WORK".
its urgent.
if i run the prg directly to tcode der is not ne error.
but i want to execute the prg. in the debug mode.
its a ZPRG.
with regards,
Purva.hi,
You need to change your logic.
Then , i hope your problem wil be solved.
Because of nested select statements, you are getting that error.
Declare seperate Internal tables for VBRK,VBRP, KNA!,j_1iexchdr, j_1imtchid.
Declare Itab_final with all required fields from all tables.
Dont use select-endselect anywhere.
I am giving Pseudo code here.
Try to use this logic.
I used question mark in code : there you need to use ur required field names.
Hope it wil help you.
select vbeln kunrg zterm bukrs knumv netwr kunrg from vbrk into corresponding fields of table itab1
where vbeln = docno.
select matnr posnr arktx fkimg meins netwr werks aubel from vbrp into corresponding fields of table itab2 for all entries in itab1

-----------------------------------------------Hi,
We have had the same problem in a non-express application
with a heavy server partition. In our case, the error was not
systematic, depending on the server workload at the time we
tried to partition and run.
The work-around we're using is to put the -fm flags (increasing the x
parameter to say 30000) in the 'server arguments' of your server
partition
properties in the partition workshop. Note that if your server is a Unix
platform,
you need to put double-quotes before and after the parenthesis in the -fm
syntax.
Hope this helps,
Vincent Figari
BTW, what Forte version are you using ?

Hi,
I get a SIGSEGV every time I use debug mode in Eclipse. Sometimes after a few breakpoints, sometimes when I start the debug view.
Have Eclipse helios and JRE 6.0_21-b06 but have also tried 1.6.0_03-b05 with same result.
The log file (hs_error_pidxxx.log) gives the following:

Any clues anyone?get a SIGSEGV every time I use debug mode in EclipseSo if you create a hello world program and then debug it, it crashes?
If yes then the causes would be
1. The VM(s) binaries are corrupted. Plural as it depends on how you run Eclipse.
2. Something else installed on your system at the OS level (or at least always running) is corrupt or is corrupting the OS.
3. A hardware failure. -
VS2013 not running in debug mode on Windows 10 Technical Preview Build 10041
am getting the following errors every time i try to run my projects in debug mode what can be the issue.
Managed Debugging Assistant 'FatalExecutionEngineError' has detected a problem in 'C:\Program Files (x86)\IIS Express\iisexpress.exe'.
Additional information: The runtime has encountered a fatal error. The address of the error was at 0x73c0d5a5, on thread 0x1a0c. The error code is 0xc0000005. This error may be a bug in the CLR or in the unsafe or non-verifiable portions of user
code. Common sources of this bug include user marshaling errors for COM-interop or PInvoke, which may corrupt the stack.
Then when I continue the following appears
An unhandled exception of type 'System.AccessViolationException' occurred in System.Data.dll
Additional information: Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory is corrupt.
Then it stops..
This happens when a database call is made and only does this when debug, when I run it using the browser link all is good. The applications work well.Hi Bigmachini,
According to my solution, what about your issue now?
If you have been solved the issue, would you mind sharing us the solution here? So it would be helpful for other members who get the same issue.
If not, please let us know the latest information about it.
@Malik, could you please tell me if you try to check your issue by the above suggestion as I said?
If no, please try the above suggestions to check this issue and then tell me the latest message about this issue.
>>The error mostly occurs when debugging ADO.NET or database function calls. If code is run without debugging then there is no issue at all.
You could also try to copy your project and then debug your project in debug mode on a another machine you install same Windows 10 OS check this issue again.

A fatal error has been detected by the Java Runtime Environment:
when i start up the eclipse, it comes out the problem.
i think it is an ordinary problem here , but i just can solve it for i tried several times...here is main the error log below:

I have found a possible bug in Debug mode in CVI13. The issue is a bit complicated. It has to do with returning a struct from a function, then referencing a char pointer in that struct in a call to sprintf. The basic code is:
struct TEST_STRUCT
char *StructString;
} TestStruct =
"Struct String"
struct TEST_STRUCT TestFunction(void)
return TestStruct;
// somewhere in the code...
sprintf(Buff, "%s", TestFunction().StructString);
When executed in Debug mode, the sprintf line generates the runtime warning, "Attempt to read beyond end of string". If you select Continue the string in Buff is incorrect. If you run the same program in Release mode it works as expected. I found this when trying to debug a project previously built in CVI 12. CVI 12 does not generate this warning. I also tried refercing the string directly in CVI 13:
sprintf(Buff, "%s", TestStruct.StructString);
This works correctly. I also tried using an array in the struct instead of a pointer:
struct TEST_STRUCT
char StructString[50];
} TestStruct =
"Struct String"
This also works correctly. I also tried using strcpy instead of sprintf:
strcpy(Buff, TestFunction().StructString);
This also works correctly. The issue appears to be specific to returning a struct and then referecing a char pointer in that struct as a parameter to sprintf.
A sample project is attached.

Hi
I have developed a BPM 11g flow in Jdev 11.1.1.3.0 and deployed it to the soa server.
My flow works fine as my output is sent to a JMS queue and no fault occurs during the flow.
However, if I have to track the Process Data Objects that have been defined, how can i do that?
I am able to track the input/output params on the external service references using composite sensors.
But in my process flow, I have a few process data objects(variables) that are modified,transformed etc before making the service calls.
How will I know what are the values of these modified variables at runtime?
Is there any way to log the process data objects that would help in debugging?
How to set the logging level to debug mode?
ThanksThis may not be the best approach, but I've found it helpful in debugging data values:
You can create a file adapter in your composite.xml, then you can place service call activities in your BPMN process to write out the values to a text/xml file on the server's filesystem.
Choose the "Define operation and schema (specified later)" on the interface screen of the file adapter wizard, operation type as Write file on the next page, choose file location/naming on next page, then on the messages page you click the magnifying glass icon next to the URL field and choose an XSD from your project (associated with a WSDL or a Business Object). When you place the service call to the file adapter in your BPMN process, you then just map in the incoming data object using data associations. -
Debug mode for WD app in CE 7.1 EHP1
Hi experts,
I need to debug a WebDynpro application that I have created in my CE7.1 EHP1 environment.
In the config tool for the Java instance, I have set "Debug Mode" to true and checked the "Enable Debug node" checkbox.
I restarted the server after this and in SAP MMC Snap In, found that the server0 is running and the Debug column also shows a stauts of Switched on(<<port number>>)
When I try to create a new Debug Configuration using the Debug Dialog in NWDS, I select SAP Application and attach the appropriate WD app to the configuration.
At this point, the server instance is automatically selected, but I get the following error message:
Runtime: No debuggable node available. Open a debug session in SAP Management Console first
What might I be missing?
Regards,
PujaHi guys,
about one year later I had the same problem as Puja Malhotra.
Gopala Krishna gave the correct answer but unfortunately he missed to offer the suitable help. So I will catch up
You have to set the values "debuggable", "debug mode" and "debug port" with the Config Tool to edit the JVM Settings for a Specific Instance.
Have a look at:
[http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwce71/helpdata/en/39/7796e0a7be604ab63c2924045710a8/content.htm]
After restart it should work!
Best regards -
WaitFor() works only when in debugging mode!
Hi, im having a problem with making my function waits for a process to end while in run mode!
The function always run and exists while the process is still running...
I checked it in debugging mode and it worked just fine, but i cant seem to be able to make it work in the run mode!
Any hints???
Here is my code:
public void executeBatch (){
try{
Runtime runtime = Runtime.getRuntime();
Process batchProcess = runtime.exec(new String[] {"cmd.exe", "/c", "FetchFiles.bat"}, null, new File(BATCH_FILES_PATH));
BufferedReader b = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(batchProcess.getErrorStream()));
if (b.ready()){
String line=null;
while ( (line = b.readLine()) != null) {
System.out.println(line);
line = b.readLine();
int exitVal = batchProcess.waitFor();
System.out.println("Exit Value = " + exitVal);
} else {
b = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(batchProcess.getInputStream()));
if (b.ready()){
String line=null;
while ( (line = b.readLine()) != null) {
System.out.println(line);
line = b.readLine();
int exitVal = batchProcess.waitFor();
System.out.println("Exit Value = " + exitVal);
} catch ( Exception ex ){
System.out.println("executeBatch : " + ex.getMessage());
btw, the process is a batch that connects to a linux server and "mget" files from some directories in the server...what the ....???
the "BadExecWinDir.java" bad approach is all about
not using an executable command like "dir"... which
im not using at all...More than that but secondary.
>
and for the "GoodWindowsExec.java" concept
demonstrates that you should handle the standard
error and standard input streams and emptying them
both together, which what i exactly did. i USED the
concept...
My piece of code is the same as the
"GoodWindowsExec.java" code except that i made the
code of the StreamGobbler class comes inside the
function directly, and that i didn't use a checkup on
the operating system to decide wither it's a Windows
NT or Windows 95 to decide the command prompt
executable name...StreamGobbler runs as a thread so both streams are emptied in parallel. In your code
String line=null;
while ( (line = brError.readLine()) != null)
System.out.println(line);this will only terminate when the process terminates and closes stderr. This means that the following code
while ( (line = brInput.readLine()) != null)
System.out.println(line);
only starts to run once the process terminates.
BUT, the stderr stream and stdout streams have a limited buffer and block when this buffer becomes full. So, if the stdout stream produces more than a buffer full then it blocks until more room is avaialable and the process cannot terminate so the error stream cannot be closed so the code to empty stdout cannot run to make room in the buffer to put more output. Phew!
If you change the order of emptying the two streams then you have a simillar effect.
The only way I know of dealing with this is to empty both streams at the same time so you need two threads. You can use the default thread for one but you MUST use another thread for the other. Since I use stdout, stderr and stdin I use 3 threads!

How to run the forms under debug Mode?

I run my form under debug mode by introducing a break point on a trigger. But i am receive the following error how to solve this issue.
JVM aborting and followed by the following one.

This could happend due to invalid configuration.
Please look into the Web-server log files for details.and additional information from Java console.

Where and what file i want to look into this to solve this issue.
Good help will be appreciated. Thank in advance.
kanishKanish,
Lets start with a few of the basics, shall we. What JVM are you using (Jinit or Sun JRE and the version)? Based on the error you posted, I can infer that you are using Forms 10.1.2.0? Are you running a custom configuration in the formsweb.cfg and default.env? This could be the cause if you have modified the CLASSPATH setting in the default.env excluding core .jar files.
Typically, the FRM-92101 error is caused by a Java error; either a .jar is not found or invalid or not compatible with JVM, etc.
Have you tried clearing your Java Cache to check for a corrupt .jar?
Hope this helps,
Craig B-)

Can anyone confirm they have the same issue when running the sample code I provided below?
Can anyone see the contents of a VARCHAR2 index based array when debugging??
