Determining DB type prior to open for DB- set_bt_compare()

Presently, I am building an application that opens a table (BDB database)
that might be DB_BTREE or DB_HASH (depending on how the original user created it).
The problem is that I do not know in advance of the DB->open() call which it will be. If I call DB->set_bt_compare() prior to opening the "BDB database" (which is the order it must be done), even when the open type is DB_UNKNOWN, it errors if it turns out to be a type DB_HASH due to the BTREE comparison routine.
Is there a less expensive way to determine DB_BTREE/DB_HASH without doing an open first and hoping for the normal case, and retrying if it errors?
Thanks, Warren.

No, that will not help.
The problem is that I have an UN-opened DB that I have to use for establishing
the set_bt_compare() routine on. Your documentation states that this must
be done prior to calling DB->open(). But I don't know how the user originally
created it, so I don't know in advance what its type is.
So the problem is that I don't know if the "database" is a BTREE type. If it is,
then DB->open() works marvelously. If it is of DB_HASH type, it fails on me,
because it doesn't like the bt compare routine I gave it.
It would appear that my only recourse would be to release that failed DB instance,
create another, and not set the compare routine on a subsequent DB->open()
attempt. But opens are rather expensive, and so I don't really want to do it that way.
If I could set the compare routine after the DB->open(), I could know what type
the database is first, and then only set the bt compare routine if it applies. The
documentation says that it will be ignored if you set that after the open.
In my opinion, it would be better if DB->open() ignored the established bt
compare routine, if it doesn't apply (especially when DB_UNKNOWN was
provided as the type).
Remember that a user is calling my routine to open a BDB "database" that was
created (in a file) in some prior session. So I am calling db_create(), then
setting the bt compare, and then calling DB-open(). But I supply a type of
DB_UNKNOWN in the open() call, cause I don't know yet what it is.
My only other recourse is to save the type in another table (I have some overhead
tables ("databases")), but I was hoping for a DB way to do this instead, as that
would complicate things further.
I hope that clarifies.
Thanks, Warren.

    Hi
Hope you are doing this in test server
If this is a real time issue this needs to be addressed by a FI consultant
First see for your company code what is the posting period varient maintained in OBY6
    Say if it is 1000
    Then in OB52
    Maintain a setting like this
    1000-S-BLANK-ZZZZZZZZZZ-1--2010122010-13--201016--2010
    Then save it
This is for Account type S that is GL accounts
    Preferably maintain the same for      A,   + ,   D,   K,   M,   V

  • Cannot determine shell type for PID 28704, UNKNOWN

    Hi All
I am using ksh and executing a shell script, but it fails with following error
Cannot determine shell type for PID 28704, UNKNOWN
Please let me know if you have any solution for this
    Thanks
    Kanki

Does the script do a ps -ef and grep for a PID, or does it look in a file for a /var/run/pid file? I would look at the script to see what it is looking for that is tied to the PID of 28704.
You could also check to see that the script's first line has the correct shell defined.

does not let me add text to my verizon website. This adding text feature works well on internet explorer. I can click on add text, the box opens up but I can not type in the box for some unknown reason. What can be done to correct this problem ...

I didn't search before, but "you are not alone" (the thread [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/747424 In Verizon's Sitebuilder for webpages, I can not edit text boxes when using Firefox. I do not have this problem if I use Internet Explorer. Is there a setting I can change in Firefox to correct this problem?] has 18 votes for "I have this problem, too).
I can only guess about the reason... Firefox works with many websites' "rich text" editors, but ones that haven't been updated for five years may assume that Firefox is the old Netscape browser and use scripting techniques that don't work in Firefox.
If Verizon has a different "basic" or HTML editor that you can tolerate using, you could try that. It might not be subject to the same incompatibilities.
If I someday get a Verizon account, I will surely be looking into this further, but for now, it's hard to suggest anything else.

There are 2 ways to tranfer stock to subcon:
    1. Inventory mvt - 541 (from MB1B) - No logistics functionalities available, although the end result for stock mgmt and Finance are same
    2. delivery using ME2O using delivery document (you can use all functionalities e.g. picking, packing etc) in details

  • Determine class type of Generic Parameter (not via getGenericSuperclass()!)

I need to know the class type of a generic Parameter. Please imagine this class:
    class MyGenericClass<T>
}In cases where other classes derived from MyClass and defined the generic parameter (like MyDerivedClass extends MyGenericClass<String>),
    this snippets works just fine:
(Class<T>) ((ParameterizedType) getClass().getGenericSuperclass()).getActualTypeArguments()[0];But now I have no inheritance but the definition of the type parameter via instantiation:
MyGenericClass<String> entity = new MyGenericClass<String>();The method "getGenericSuperclass()" does not suit my needs because it does not target the actual class. Nor can "getTypeParameters() " help me...
After countless trying to retrieved the type information, I still have no clue how to determine for that case that (in my example) the type parameter
    is a 'String'.
    Does anyone know the solution?

    Serethos_0 wrote:
Sure I could pass the class type itself as parameter to be stored in 'exportClassType'. But I only tried to adapt the idea used e.g. in Generic DAOs
as descibed here: [http://community.jboss.org/wiki/GenericDataAccessObjects]. The big difference is, that in the Generic DAO example the typed
information is available within the class definition ..
Besides that I am open for any other suggestion!I would recommend passing around the Class object as you say.
Some might suggest that you make MyGenericClass abstract, forcing any instantiation to be like this:
MyGenericClass<String> entity = new MyGenericClass<String>() {};That would indeed cause the String type parameter to be available at runtime, since you're creating an anonymous inner class. But it leads to a convoluted and extremely statically expensive instantiation pattern. Using the class object is a better solution IMO.

  • How can I determine the type of video out connector I need?

    Howdy,
I have a white macbook purchased Jun/2008. I want to connect to a TV but don't know what adapter I need. How can I determine the type of video out jack my macbook has?
System Profiler says the model identifier is "MacBook 4,1". Under Graphics/Displays the only thing it says about the "Display Connector" is that no display is connected. Too bad it doesn't tell me what type of connector it is. If I knew the name of the connector I'd probably be home free. But it seems like every macbook model has a different video connector (since the state of the art has advanced over the years) and I haven't been able to keep up with the names.
Now, I have a 6" long adapter that will convert this connector to VGA. And searching the Apple store for VGA adapters, the existence of mine says my connector is might be one of "Mini DisplayPort", "Apple Mini DVI", "Apple DVI", or "Apple Micro-DVI". But then there is also the connector at
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/M8639G/A?mco=MTY3ODQ5OTY
and that looks like the one I have. But unlike the other adapters, this one is just called a "VGA Display Adapter". Does the connector have a name? How can I find adapters that have that same connector?
I know I could use the adapter I have, plus a VGA to VGA cable, to hook up to a TV. But the quality of the VGA signal is poor in the digital world. My goal is to hook up to the TV via HDMI. Is this even possible? By which I mean, will my macbook generate the signals necessary to be able to be converted to HDMI?
    Thanks for any help,
    Zebulon T

    Thanks, Ded,
You're right, the cable that I have won't work. I't from my previous, 2004 iBook. This is pretty embarrassing... I looked at the cable but didn't bother to try plugging it in.
Looking at the close-up picture of the Mini-DVI to VGA adapter, that does look like the right connector. So I have Mini-DVI, and the other apter you pointed to can convert this to DVI. I'll take a look to see what makes the most sense, connector wise, downstream from that.
    Thanks very much.

  • Error MIGO AA629 Balance for transac type group 10 negative for the area 01

    Hi
I have the following principal case in the PRD (version 60.0 ECC):
Active 25000549 number was discharged from the transaction MIGO 18/12/2009 USD 19295.22 and began to depreciate on 01.01.2010.
On 22.04.2010 the vendor issues a credit note USD 11626.96 therefore created the Purchase Order number 9900000903 and when it will account for the transaction MIGO get the error message AA629 ( Balance for transaction type group 10 negative for the are). In transaction MIGO are using the kind of movement 161.
SAP looked in and found a related note the following: 497297, 541200, 547233 but they refer to version 4.7 and 4.6C and make no reference to version 6.0.
The error detail is as follows:
Balance for transaction type group 10 negative for the area 01
    Message no. AA629
    Asset affected: 000025000549-0000
    Diagnosis
With the transaction entered, the balance for the transactions in group 10 in area 01 will be negative in this fiscal year. However, the balance of transaction type group 10, according to its definition, must be positive in each fiscal year.
    System Response
    The system rejects this posting.
    Procedure
Check the transaction type, the amount and the fiscal year in your posting. If you want to post a credit memo to an acquisition from the previous year, then use a transaction type for a retirement. If necessary, you can change balance rules after talking with your SAP consultant.
My questions are: someone has thought of something similar? how to solve? must implement the foregoing notes?
Thank you very much for your kind help

    Hi,
    notes 20347 and .302756.
Try to change following customizing temporarily to 160:
    IMG->FI-AA->Transactions->Determine default transaction types for
         internal transactions->Acquisition from goods receipt
Another alternative could be to TEMPORARILY change the definition  of transaction type group 10 so that it allows negative values.
    139899   AA629 when posting MR01/MRHR/MIRO invoice receipt
AA629 is raised when the transactions per transaction type group in one year are negative in balance and the definition of the  transaction type group only allows positive values  (that means TABWG-VZJSAL is '+'). This is the case for transaction
type group 10. After posting transaction I recommend to set transaction   group 10 back to its original definition.
    Regards Bernhard
