Determining the Extent (Projected Bounds) of an SRID

Hi All,
I'd like to determine the extent (Projected Bounds) of an SRID (in its own Coordinate System).
Is this possible using any Spatial functions or will I have to parse the WKTEXT and perform some operations ?
This is as an alternative to a previous issue that I never could get around:
Is there a way to help find SRID from external WKTEXT ?
(Finding an Oracle SRID from GDAL/OGR WKTEXT)

Not sure Ronan. MDSYS.CS_SRS has a CS_BOUNDS column, but its null in the supplied entries. See note in doc - http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/appdev.112/e11830/sdo_cs_concepts.htm#i890025
CS_BOUNDS: An optional SDO_GEOMETRY object that is a polygon with WGS 84 longitude and latitude vertices, representing the spheroidal polygon description of the zone of validity for a projected coordinate system. Must be null for a geographic or non-Earth coordinate system. Is null in all supplied rows.

Main shot is DV (tape) (720x480, 29fps) - ceremony and reception
b-roll is DVD (mini-disk) (720x480, 29fps) - bride preparations
additional b-roll is AVCHD (1920x1080, 29fps) - groom preparations and misc all day ceremony and reception.
Film is from a wedding, DV contains main footage so I assume it will need to be the base. I am planning to use the preset for DV-Widescreen. Is there a better option? I'm concerned about playback as the three appear to have different PAR. I'm using Premiere Elements 10 on W8.
Ultimately this will be burned for two formats - one for a DVD that can be watched on a widescreen TV, second for a short clip trailer to go on vimeo.
(And no I won't be doing this again for a wedding that I shoot.)

Please review since I am not sure how you obtained Video 3 tall when you scaled Video 3 with Constrain Proportions in effect.

It becomes a zoomed in effect to get rid of the black borders. But, there is no tall and thin involved anywhere.
And, after the Scale increase, you can always click on the screen and move the image around a bit
(without overdoing it to get black borders again).

Tablespace allocation type system how oracle determines the extent size

It may be silly question but the I have to ask and get some knowdge
Suppose tablespace allocation_type is system then how oracle determins the inital extent and max extent size?

Was this tablespace converted to locally managed from an existing tablespace? If so, the existing extents still exist after the conversion. Also depending on the Oracle version and maybe platform the pct_increase parameter is still honored after the conversion which can lead to odd sizes. The current value of this parameter may not be the value that was in effect when extents were allocated.
Also Oracle enhanced the logic to not leave odd sized extents unused so that if by rights the system should take a 64K extent but there is a 56K extent available (perhaps at the end of a file) it can be used to fill the extent request.

Is there a way to determine the equivalent ANSI C code from a Labview project?

I'm a complete beginner to Labview. I have this fairly complex Labview project that was used to create a DLL which matlab could call to control my PCI-6534 card without having to know the NIDAQmx calls.
I'm in the process of figuring out how to make those NIDAQmx calls directly from Matlab but I'm not getting the same results as when I call this DLL mentioned above so I thought I'd try to make sense of the Labview project VIs. I'm starting to make sense of the overall scheme of the VIs, but I'd like to be able to run the project, step through it, and perhaps see the NIDAQmx commands (or something equivalent so I can determine how to call the NIDAQmx commands within Matlab).
Is this possible to do?

Yes. The toolbar allows you to turn on highlighting so you can run the VI and see the contents of wires. You can put probes on wires. You can single-step through code. All of this is explained in the LabVIEW Help under Fundamantals -> Running and DEbugging VIs -> Concepts -> Debugging Techniques.
In regards to the implied question in the title of your post, no you cannot directly convert LabVIEW code to C in the development environment. Yes, there are tools to convert LabVIEW to C, but that's intended for microprocessors.

How to determine the size of an iMovie09 project?

Hello:
I recently created a nice video of about 2 hours in iMovie09. I "shared" it to iDVD but it was about 10% too big to burn. I went back to iMovie09 and removed some time to make the project smaller but how can I determine the size of my iMovie09 projects before I send them to iDVD? I know that both time and audio will affect the size of the iMovie09 project so the time of the video is not necessarily an accurate indicator.

As long as your movie is under about 1hr 50 minutes it should fit on a DVD.
The thing which determines how much time is available on your DVD is usually the complexity of any Menus which you add in iDVD.
With a simple Menu, which may "eat up" 10 mins of space, you should have room for 1h 50mins of movie.
With complex, multi-level menus, your movie running time may be reduced by about 25 mins, or possibly more.
Keep menus simple, and you should have space for about 1hr 50mins. It's always running time which counts, NOT "size" (in GB) of your movie.

Using Win 10 there is a need for an app to determine the full device display area and aspect ratio programitically; the dimensions are needed to create full-screen bitmap.

While Windows.Current.Bounds returns the application windows size, in order to create a full-screen bitmap my app would need to retrieve the full display area of the device. I cannot even get the aspect ratio.
Pre-Win10, using Windows.Current.Bounds I can create a bitmap of whatever size application window the user is seeing. When the user is showing my app at full screen, I can therefore get the full display area and aspect ratio of the device and create a full-screen
bitmap.
With Win10, the user would need to know to hide the taskbar and also display at full-screen before an app can retrieve the display area and aspect ratio using Windows.Current.Bounds.

How do I determine the best Order to run my butterworth filter at?

I'm lowpass filtering a signal that was sampled at 200hz through a 40Hz butterworth. I need to determine the optimal filter order. How do i create a quantitative comparison of the effects of the butterworth filter on the frequencies above 40Hz based on varying order?
I have tried using the FFT to create a chart in the frequency space, but am not sure how to proceed. Any help would be greatly appreciated. What I want to compare is the path immediately before and immediately after the butterworth filter.
Also is there an alternate way to read in a column of numbers from a text file without using the Read from Measurement file Express VI?

I have my filter working correctly now. I just need a quantifiable way to justify picking any one order of filtering over another.

How to determine the correct moment when Word has finished to write to a docx file

we are currently passing a document to Microsoft Word for editing and want to take back the changed/saved document when editing is finished. But it seems we have issues to determine the correct moment when Word has for sure saved all changes and
it is save to take back the file.
To pass the document to Word we use ShellExecuteEx with the file name. Then we use the Running Objects Table and a File Moniker to wait for the file to be closed.

So we wait for the file to be removed from the Running Objects Table and additionally wait until we can get exclusive access to the file before we take over the changed file. But still it seems to happen that we take the file too early. Hence it
seems the file is removed from the Running Objects Table by Microsoft Word before saving the file has completed.
Is this behaviour of Microsoft Word by design? What is the best practice to identify the moment in time when writing the file has completed. Some other applications like Winzip seem to do the same thing.

How to determine the event generating component in RESTORE-VIEW phase

I have performance issues with my application.
I am using PPR for components within the CoreTable. The table-model for this ADF-CoreTable is coded in java instead of binding it to PageDef table.
The PageDef for the JSF page is heavily loaded with other objects & therefore there a delay in response. I have also found out that maximum time is lost after the RESTORE_VIEW process to before APPLY_REQUEST_ VALUE phase.
Not sure if I am doing it right, but this is what I plan to do.
On determining the event from CoreTable components, I want to bypass the ADF phase by passing null to all ADF Phases
initContext(null)
prepareModel(null)
& before Invoke application
prepareRender(null)
Is there a way to determine the event generating component in the PhaseListener class?
This is a ADF 10g project developed on JDeveloper 10.1.3

Just for other readers,
I attempted to create a button to toggle a session scope Flag for test & proceed. However I was still unable to skip the ADF phase.
In a self defined PhaseListener I also tried to remove ADFPhaseListeners before RESTORE_VIEW & reinstate it back in before RENDER_RESPONSE. Except the ADF InitContext() & processValidation() which run immidately after RESTORE_VIEW all other calls to ADF Phases were skipped.
The reasults were not helpful to proceed as I need to entirely skip/bypass the ADF lifecycle to achieve the quick responce.

i'm making speech recognition project using java. i can capture sound by michrophone and playback it. the type of the sound is .wav.
my question is how to determine the recording duration (for example: determine the duration for 0.25 second) because i must recorded syllable,the assumtion is needed less than 0.5 second to say a word. and then.. can this wav file be changed into... binary or integer ?

I have read wav file using an AudioInputStream, for audio format I'm using sampleRate = 8000.0F and sampleSizeInBits = 8. My friend said if I used 8 bit for sampleSizeInBit (resolution in amplitude) the binary file should be -128 till 127 in range according to the bit. I try this code and the result is binary file which is zero, positive, and negative.

Determine the best width for ListCellRenderer - Multi-column combo box

Currently, I am having a multi column combo box. In order for the column to align properly during show popup, I use box layout to do so. However, the short coming for box layout is that, the size for each column is fixed. This makes me have a difficulty, when I have a long string to be displayed. The problem is shown through the following screen shoot.

This is because in 2nd column,
1) All the 3 rows must be in same size so that they are aligned.
2) But 1st row and 2nd row cell renderer, do not know 3rd row is holding such a long string.
The code (2 files) to demo this problem is as follow. Is there any way the size of the cell will be adjusted automatically? Yet, all the row will be aligned properly.

To calculate the exact maximum width of column two, you have to check each entry.
If you can do this BEFORE creating the combo, you could do this in a loop similar to this pseudo code

if (length>max) max= length;
}Now you have a max value to dimension jLabel2 in your renderer.
If you don't fill your combo in one go, but rather at runtime, you have to check at each
jComboBox1.addItem(...)
whether the string for label2 is extending the current max, redefine max, and repaint the combo.
This second approach I haven't done so far, but that's how I would try.

The internal customer wants a "kicky" presentation based on her slides, so I must use some of the Captivate tools (e.g. zoom area, highlight box -- about the limit of my skills). And there must be spoken narration, not the text to speech feature. Total time for the 72 slides is 22.5 minutes when all is done. When published the narration is good, but the "kicky" part fails. Specifically some highlight boxes do not appear on many slides.
I deleted the table-of-contents feature. The most unusual tools that I'm using are the certificate widget, and a page turning widget.
I tried breaking the presentation into two parts. Part 1 was 58 slides and I experienced the same behavior. I've not tried part two yet.
In the past, I practiced, on my computer, with the aggregator. Is this the best route? We have no experience hosting an aggregator project on our server. Are there any special concerns about doing so? (I'm not the person who does this. He is out of the office at this time). Would daisy-chaining be a better route? (if so, what is the best source for instruction to do this?)

Again, I did not see the elephant in the room. I neglected to notice a default setting. Once corrected, everything works. My bad.
But, I would still like to know what determines the maximum number of slides on can successfully publish without Aggregator or daisy-chaining.

Hw can I determine the pitch and tempo to be set for a song?

I want to know how to determine the pitch, tempo, scale for any song in Garage band.
My problem is this: I have ready with me a number of songs which I have composed, but I do not know what their musical attributes are...having received no training in music! Whenever I open a new project in GB, I have to set the pitch and tempo for the project beforehand itself...am asked to do so. This makes it impossible for me to try out the music at different pitches and tempo to determine what is required for any song.
I hope I am making myself understood and hope to get a solution...[and, no, Iam not minded to go and join music classes!]

Is the first step you have asked...'using the tempo and key settings of another of my songs' a necessary one? Can I go ahead with the rest of the steps omitting the first?
You have to set some values for tempo and song key. Finding a song, that is similar to a new song you want to create, and were you have written sheet music with the song key and tempo would give you a good first guess for the values to pick. But go ahead and use the default settings of GarageBand.
Then you can add rhythm loops (drum loops from the loop browser) to generate an accompaniment conforming to the tempo you found.
That is what I tried to describe in the second half of my post: A click track is a track similar to a metronom. You sound out the beats of your song by clicking or clapping and record this as a "click track". Adjust the Master Track "Tempo" automation curve, so that you will have four of your or claps in each measure. This way GarageBands tempo setting will follow the tempo of your song.
Now you can drag loops from the loop browser to create an accompaniment. It will follow the tempo changes. I suggested the drums or other percussion instruments, because for these instruments the song key will not matter.
How to adjust the Master Track Tempo: From the "Track" menu > Show Master Track; then set the Pop Up menu in the Track Head to "master Tempo".
