Installing Developer 2000 ver 2.1 on Windows 2000

Migration problem developer 2000 to 6i

Hello Friends:
I am trying to migrate from developer 2000 to 6i and facing some problems:
1. TOOL_ENV.GETVAR() is not working.
2. In a master detail form, detail blocks are not being populated when execute_query works on master block.
Can any one help me please?

Patch 18 is the latest and u can download it metalink and apply.
However for tool_env you dont need any patch

Developer 2000 forms to compile in 9i

Hi.
I have an application developed in Developer 2000 , now want to convert it in Deverloper 9i. While compiling it give me many errors like report calling function has been changed. I am not able to find and migration utility in the installation . Please let me know if I have not fully installed developer 9i or there is some other way to migrate froms .

In the newer Forms versions, it is only supported to call Reports using the RUN_REPORT_OBJECT built-in. You will need to either manually recode your app or use the Forms Migration Assistant (FMA) to perform the task for you. Although the FMA seems like the easier method, it does add a significant amount of additional code to your application including the addition of a PLL. If possible, I would recommend manually recoding. FMA was available with Forms 9.0.x and newer, however in 9.0.2 installing the first patchset or newer was required in order to use it. It was also available for 9.0.2 as a separate download for installation into the Oracle Home. Newer Forms version include the utility with the initial product installation.

For us to assist here, you will need to clarify which product versions you are using. Neither Developer 2000 or Developer 9i represent versions. These are just marketing names which represent numerous versions. Each version handles migration slightly different.

How to get connectivity between Personal Oracle 8.0.0.3 & Developer 2000 (Any Version

Can anybody tell me how to get connectivity between Personal Oracle 8.0.3 and Developer 2000 Rel 2.1 in Win 98 Environment.
I am able to install either Oracle 8 or Developer 2000 but not both, even if I use different Oracle Homes.
When I posted the same question to www.xperts.com someone wrote to me saying that a patch has to be used to get the connectivity.
I have been trying to solve the problem for last 6 months, but could not do it.
Can you please tell me how to get the connectivity or atleast tell me which version will facilitate connectivity in a stand alone PC.

For Windows98. Worked for me, but no guarantee it will solve your problem.
1) Install Dev2K.
2) Install PO8i in a separate Oracle home.
3) Use the following for TNSNAMES.ORA in your DEV2K Home:

Running Oracle reports 2.5 designed using developer 2000 in Oracle9i

We are in the process of upgrading our database from 8.0.6 to 9i (9.0.2). We have some developer 2000 reports (using reports version 2.5) that are running in AIX verion 5.1 currently. How do we run these scripts in 9i environment? Any suggested documentation from OTN or other sources would grately appreciated. Thanks.

CS6 is a Cocoa application, and Retina support requires Carbon (or the other way around, I'm a Windows user). It's not a matter of adding a few lines of code to make the change, it required rewriting the entire program from the ground up.

Slow of one form of developer 2000 form 4.5

We have developer 2000 form 4.5 with oracle v 7.3.4. we find out that one screen or form of the system are very slow. Can you please help me if you have the reason of that slowness in th form.

The form was running fine, and suddenly or at last days start to become very slow to run.You should have written that the first time!
Maybe an index has been deleted or disabled that was used by the form's query process.
Look at the base-table blocks and determine which tables they access, and how. Test the select statements in SQL Plus or another tool. Check the query plan Oracle uses to access the data.
Also check any record groups that may cause slowness, and look at any SQL queries that may be issued directly by PL/SQL in the form.

You only need the runtime exe file that is f45run32.exe file and some related file to run .FMX file and obviously a working Oracle database connection.

You can just call the procedure in any program unit in Forms as if it were a local program unit or built-in.
Thus if you have a function:
function CalculateSomething return number;
In Forms 6i, for example in a When-Button-Pressed trigger:

n number;
begin
n := CalculateSomething;

Install developer 2000 on oracle 9i

i have installed oracle 9i personal edition on my windows 2000 pc. however when i install developer 2000(forms 5) i am not able to access oracle database from developer and oracle 9i also does not give me access. i have installed oracle and developer 2000 on different folders.

I had the similar problem.
You have to copy the tnsnames.ora from ORACLE9i/network/admin to FORMS5/network/admin.
It seems to be a problem with the PATH-variable.
So WIN2k find the SQLPLUS in FORMS5 first and could not resolve the servicename.
