Developing Web dynpro package

Hi all,
We have to get a web dynpro BP certified. I have got some doubts regarding the development.
a) Is there any predefined standards to be followed for web dynpro developments to get it certified?
b) We are using a number of models in our applications. Should we create a seperate DC exclusively for models? We dont have more than one DC reusing a model. But there are components inside the same DC using the same model. So is it advisable to create a seperate component for models inside a DC so that other components in that DC can call it whenever required. I believe it is in this way that the standard ESS package is designed.
c) We have got some views in which it is required to change the visibility status of UI elements dynamically. For this, is it necessary to use configuration controllers or is it ok if we do it in the view itself.

Hi Anthony,
You need to have SAP Web Application server (SAP WAS) to run all the webdynpro applications. WAS can be installed either on your local system or on a server which can act as a central server.
You can download WAS from SDN, which is a trial version. Check this link.

For checking the minimul system requirments for installing WAS please check the PAM (Product Availability Matrix).

How to attach external document in custom developed Web Dynpro Screen

Hello,
We have requirements to develop a custom portal screen using Webdynpro and should provide option to usee to attach external documents like WORD, EXCEL, TEXT, PDF and then save.
In Change/Display mode user should also get option to view this attached document.
Would like to know the solution in case any of you have worked in this scenario.

Is it possible to develop wda in mySAP 2004 (ecc 5) and netweaver 2004s.

No, WDA is only availiable starting NW2004s (7.0), not before.

Developing Web dynpro FPM application

Hi All
I need to implement "Exit" functionality in my component similar to the standard ESS components which uses IFPM interface.
1) I created a view
2) Added a button
3) On click of button i called a method say "cancel" of Component Cntroller
4) Added xssutils and xssfpm in used DCs
5) I have declared a variable fpm of type IFPM
6) The "cancel: method contains
fpm.navigate(wdThis.wdGetFcNavigationInterface().getNavigationTargetExitApplication());
When i deployed this application, it gives me
NullPointerException
at com.sap.pcuigp.xssutils.navi.FcNavigation.getNavigationTargetExitApplication
Please let me know where do i have to initialize the variable fpm ?
Does it get initialize on its own by the framework ?
Please help in solving the problem

Reuse of Business Packages in WEB DYNPRO FOR ABAP

Hi folks
I have now been working with R3 and CRM for the last 8 years.
As ABAP developer. Now we have to find out of if we can use the WEB DYNPRO FOR ABAP in our Portal Soloution. So far so good.
Off course we can use the WEB DYNPRO FOR ABAP!!
But i have heard that there should be a lot of existing IVIEWS in SAP Service Market Place, SDN.COM and so on. My question is: How do I find these IVIEWS and hos do i combine thes iviews, in a page, with our own develope WEB Dynpros????

Environment needed for developing, deploying the ABAP Web Dynpro

We have the following ECC environmnet in our office.
ERP 2005, RELEASE 6.0
KERNEL 7
COMPONENT ECC 6.0 NON -UNICODE SYSTEM
BASIS & ABAP SP 14
We also dont have Enterprise Portal and no PI or XI. can we develop ABAP Web Dynpro without EP?
I want to develop Web Dynpro's using ABAP. Can i do it? Do we need to install any thing else? any plug in..or do we need to upgrade our service pack?
We are on service pack 14 and on ABAP Stack.
Some one kindly help..this might be a simple question for many people...but i am really in need of information and could not get proper idea after reading the SDN and help.com
if some one has a link .that explains the environmnet that i should have for Web dynpro ABAP..please help.

Thanks a lot for your patience. Few more minutes of your valuable time..need help.
So i can conclude that with my environmet and ABAP statck ..i can develop Web dynpro ABAP and BSP but not Adobe Forms.
We have BI system in our office which runs on Java Stack and our ECC system is only on ABAP stack.
But we were using ABAP Web services to build interfaces b/w SAP and .Net applications and hence we wanted to use SOAMANAGER,
But SOAMANAGER runs on Java Stack and we dont have Java stack on ECC but have on BI.
So what we did was..did some BASIS settings in BI and ECC systems and finally able to use SOAMANAGER of BI system to manage , create and deploy web services from our ECC system whihc is on ABAP Stack.
Similarly can I also use the Java Stack in our BI system and do some settings at ECC end such that I can buid the interactive forms in ECC and use the Java Stack of BI system.
Kindly please help..i am not getting answers to such questions in help.sap.com...may be people like you who are well experience will only able to guide me better.

Cannot deploy web dynpro applications

I'm starting to develop web dynpro applications, and I can run them on the nwds, but I cannot deploy them to the SDM, i always get the following error:

At the same time if more users are deploying then you may such 'deployment aborted' errors check if there are more child instances for the J2EE engine.If not ask your basis administrator to create more child nodes to balance the load on the server instance.Also You can find out the server details at
"http:
<hostname:portnum>\index.html"select system configuration-you can get the details of the SDM and the j2ee engine from there.You need to have proper credentials to get the information from the above url.
Provide those details in the NWDS.

Web Dynpro Application Deployment need server restart?

Hi Everyone,
When deploying Web Dynpro application on production environment, do we need to restart the sap portal system and server?
I have this issue that when ever we deployed new develop Web Dynpro application with new Abap Function module we need to restart our Enterprise portal production server. Is this really necessary. Is there other way to deploy Web Dynpro application with new Abap function module without restarting the server.

Hi michel,
for example , assume you imported a RFC bapi_flights from r/3 to webdynpro dc , and both rfc requests and webdynpro application is deployed to the development server and then moved to quality server.
now you have done some changes in the rfc bapi_flights i mean change in the structure .
case 1 : now with out reimporting the change to webdynpro application and you move the request to the quality r/3, your application dumps . because the structure change is not incorporated at your webdynpro DC.
case 2 : you have re imported the rfc incorporating the changes to the web dynpro applicaiton dc, now with out moving the structure changes request to the quality r/3 and you deploy the webdynpro Dc having the changes to your quality EP , still the applicaiton dumps because your appliction refers to the rfc with out structure change in quality r/3.
case 3 : you have moved the abap request having the strucutre change and also the webdynpro development component where the changes are also incorporated , now on moving both , your application might dump , because the meta data cache might have been not updated with the new structure change in the quality ep server. so you have invalidate the cache in the JCos you have used to import the rfc. or else on restarting the EP server , the new structure change will be updated in the server.
most of the cases Invalidation of cache works and in some cases you have restart the server fo the changes to update.

Storing user defaults of Web Dynpro application on portal

Hi folks,
I am trying to develop Web Dynpro application that runs in an iView on a portal. I would like to remember certain user defaults for this application (e.g., user default plant). User also has control over this value, so whenever they change it, the value should be update on a backend as well.
My first thought was to use PCD, but I am not sure how to do that - all the code examples for I found for PCD looked like they were created for portal application, not Web Dynpro ones.
Anybody here actually done anything similar?

If you need to store default values for a portal application, you may consider your development in Web Dynpro for ABAP. I have not come across application level personalisation yet in Web Dynpro for Java, unless someone else can throw some light here.

1.Create a node with cardinality 0..n
2.Create attributes with the same type of database.
3.Bind the node attributes with the database values
4.bind the node to the Table UI Element

Web Dynpro to XI Scenario

Hi
I am developing web dynpro to XI scenario..
I configured Sender SOAP adapter channel and defined a web service for my Interface which create WSDL file.
On dynpro I Imported that WSDL file and created Model.
On click of UI element button I am fetching some parameter from RFC on R/3 as response.
But I am getting error on screen
Service call exception; nested exception is: com.sap.engine.services.webservices.jaxrpc.exceptions.InvalidResponseCodeException: Invalid Response Code: (302) Moved Temporarily...

Web dynpro Abap generated URLs - Namespace vs Alias

We have developped web dynpro abap applications on two systems that both have to be exposed to our external users in production. We would like to provide a unique host for the two systems by using an appliance in front dispatching the request to the correct system based on differences in URL.
As all generated URLS are in the following format:
/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/z_test
/sap/public/bc/ur/nw7/js/domainrelax.js
/sap/public/bc/ur/nw7/js/autorelax.js
We would like to be able to modify the first tag (/sap) for something else either by renaming it or by adding some other layer in front of it in order to get:
/nwa/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/z_test
/nwa/sap/public/bc/ur/nw7/js/domainrelax.js
/nwa/sap/public/bc/ur/nw7/js/autorelax.js
We thought we could use an external alias on one of our systems in order to change the generated url of that system but it does not work as we expected. When we call our web dynpro application using the external alias, it correctly renames the application bath but all other urls stay the same:
/nwa/sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/z_test
/sap/public/bc/ur/nw7/js/domainrelax.js
/sap/public/bc/ur/nw7/js/autorelax.js
What could we do in order to have all URLs generated by an ABAP system either renamed or prefixed by something else?

Is there a good guide, which explains the Basic steps in developeing Web dynpro applications and BAPI ?!

to my szenario:
I installed on my notebook the Trial Versions of:
SAP NetWeaver Application Server 7.00/Java AS 7.00
SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio Version: 7.0.14
All my basic Web Dynpro Applications in Java are running (even with Adobe Interactive Forms) on the local NetWeaver Trail- Web AS Trail perfectly.
Now i want to connect per RFC to another SAPERP Server, which is in the intranet.
I did the whole RFC tutorial with the flights -

so my web dynpro application should work.
I think I have to configure - like ramesh said something on the NetWeaver Trail.
So what do i need and configure excactly on my Netweaver Trial to work with RFC - to call the BAPIS in the other System?
- SLD ? JCO ?
If i over Web Dynpro - Content Administrator - >
it says "Connection to System Landscape Directory (SLD) could not be opended successfully." and all the buttons
create Jco destinations etc. are greyed out.
I didn´t configured the SLD and JCO in the Netweaver yet.
