  • Diadem file (image) to database

    Greetings all,
    Recently we've found a problem with our application. Instead of exporting report images to a network unit we'll have to save them in a database.
    Until now, we saved them to a network drive without any problem. We're able to access our database and insert text values from the application, but now we need to save files (images). This is where things become complicated. DIAdem offers a textStream object, but not a inputstream that allows to read a byte array...
    So, anyone had a problem like this and found a solution? I've found some samples of something similar on NI site, but all of them are for labview...
    Any help is greatly appreciated,
    Tomas
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Sub Base64StringToFile(ByRef vCode, ByVal fullFilePath)
    if FileExist(fullFilePath) then
    FileDelete(fullFilePath)
    end if
    Dim oXML : Set oXML = CreateObject("Msxml2.DOMDocument.3.0")
    dim oNode : Set oNode = oXML.CreateElement("base64")
    oNode.dataType = "bin.base64"
    oNode.text = vCode
    Dim BinaryStream : Set BinaryStream = CreateObject("ADODB.Stream")
    BinaryStream.Type = 1
    BinaryStream.Open
    BinaryStream.Write oNode.nodeTypedValue
    BinaryStream.SaveToFile fullFilePath
    Set BinaryStream = Nothing
    Set oNode = Nothing
    Set oXML = Nothing
    End Sub
    Sub Base64FileToString(ByVal fullFilePath, ByRef vCode)
    Dim BinaryStream : Set BinaryStream = CreateObject("ADODB.Stream")
    BinaryStream.Type = 1
    BinaryStream.Open
    BinaryStream.LoadFromFile(fullFilePath)
    Dim oXML : Set oXML = CreateObject("Msxml2.DOMDocument.3.0")
    dim oNode : Set oNode = oXML.CreateElement("base64")
    oNode.dataType = "bin.base64"
    oNode.nodeTypedValue = BinaryStream.Read()
    vCode = oNode.text
    End Sub
     I used those two methods to read binary file and put it into base64 string. Maybe this helps.

  • Store and Display doc/pdf files in the database using Forms

    Hi all,
    How can i store and display doc/pdf files in the database using Forms 10g?.
    Arif

    How to get up and running with WebUtil 1.06 included with Oracle Developer Suite 10.1.2.0.2 on a win32 platform
    Solution
    Assuming a fresh "Complete" install of Oracle Developer Suite 10.1.2.0.2,
    here are steps to get a small test form running, using WebUtil 1.06.
    Note: [OraHome] is used as an alias for your real oDS ORACLE_HOME.
    Feel free to copy this note to a text editor, and do a global find/replace on
    [OraHome] with your actual value (no trailing slash). Then it is easy to
    copy/paste actual commands to be executed from the note copy.
    1) Download http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/jacob-project/jacob_18.zip
      and extract to a temporary staging area. Do not attempt to use 1.7 or 1.9.
    2) Copy or move jacob.jar and jacob.dll
      [JacobStage] is the folder where you extracted Jacob, and will end in ...\jacob_18
         cd [JacobStage]
         copy jacob.jar [OraHome]\forms\java\.
         copy jacob.dll [OraHome]\forms\webutil\.
      The Jacob staging area is no longer needed, and may be deleted.
    3) Sign frmwebutil.jar and jacob.jar
      Open a DOS command prompt.
      Add [OraHome]\jdk\bin to the PATH:
         set PATH=[OraHome]\jdk\bin;%PATH%
      Sign the files, and check the output for success:
         [OraHome]\forms\webutil\sign_webutil [OraHome]\forms\java\frmwebutil.jar
         [OraHome]\forms\webutil\sign_webutil [OraHome]\forms\java\jacob.jar
    4) If you already have a schema in your RDBMS which contains the WebUtil stored code,
      you may skip this step. Otherwise,
      Create a schema to hold the WebUtil stored code, and privileges needed to
      connect and create a stored package. Schema name "WEBUTIL" is recommended
      for no reason other than consistency over the user base.
      Open [OraHome]\forms\create_webutil_db.sql in a text editor, and delete or comment
      out the EXIT statement, to be able to see whether the objects were created witout
      errors.
      Start SQL*Plus as SYSTEM, and issue:
         CREATE USER webutil IDENTIFIED BY [password]
         DEFAULT TABLESPACE users
         TEMPORARY TABLESPACE temp;
         GRANT CONNECT, CREATE PROCEDURE, CREATE PUBLIC SYNONYM TO webutil;
         CONNECT webutil/[password]@[connectstring]
         @[OraHome]\forms\create_webutil_db.sql
         -- Inspect SQL*Plus output for errors, and then
         CREATE PUBLIC SYNONYM webutil_db FOR webutil.webutil_db;
      Reconnect as SYSTEM, and issue:
         grant execute on webutil_db to public;
    5) Modify [OraHome]\forms\server\default.env, and append [OraHome]\jdk\jre\lib\rt.jar
      to the CLASSPATH entry.
    6) Start the OC4J instance
    7) Start Forms Builder and connect to a schema in the RDBMS used in step (4).
      Open webutil.pll, do a "Compile ALL" (shift-Control-K), and generate to PLX (Control-T).
      It is important to generate the PLX, to avoid the FRM-40039 discussed in
      Note 303682.1
      If the PLX is not generated, the Webutil.pll library would have to be attached with
      full path information to all forms wishing to use WebUtil. This is NOT recommended.
    8) Create a new FMB.
      Open webutil.olb, and Subclass (not Copy) the Webutil object to the form.
      There is no need to Subclass the WebutilConfig object.
      Attach the Webutil.pll Library, and remove the path.
      Add an ON-LOGON trigger with the code
             NULL;
      to avoid having to connect to an RDBMS (optional).
      Create a new button on a new canvas, with the code
             show_webutil_information (TRUE);
      in a WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED trigger.
      Compile the FMB to FMX, after doing a Compile-All (Shift-Control-K).
    9) Under Edit->Preferences->Runtime in Forms Builder, click on "Reset to Default" if
      the "Application Server URL" is empty.
      Then append "?config=webutil" at the end, so you end up with a URL of the form
          http://server:port/forms/frmservlet?config=webutil
    10) Run your form.sarah

  • Procedure to Insert PDF from FIle System to Database

    Hi ,
    I have a requirement to put the pdf files from our Local Machine or File system into Database table ..
    For that I have created a directory called "MY_PDF" with create and replace directory .
    Also , I have created a database table to store the files from Local machine FIle System directory ( MY_PDF) .
    I have created a procedure which takes 2 inputs ( ID and FIlename ) as parameters , this procedure when executes , it insert the file along with the ID in the database table .
    Procedure is as follows :
    CREATE OR REPLACE PROCEDURE proc_load_a_file( p_id IN NUMBER, p_filename IN VARCHAR2 )
    AS
    l_blob BLOB;
    l_bfile BFILE;
    x VARCHAR2(1000);
    BEGIN
    x:=p_filename;
    INSERT INTO demo(id,theblob,filename) VALUES ( p_id, empty_blob() ,x)
    RETURNING theBlob INTO l_blob;
    UPDATE demo
    SET locater =l_blob where id=p_id;
    l_bfile := bfilename( 'MY_FILES', p_filename );
    DBMS_LOB.FILEOPEN( l_bfile );
    DBMS_LOB.LOADFROMFILE( l_blob, l_bfile,
    DBMS_LOB.getlength( l_bfile ) );
    DBMS_LOB.fileclose( l_bfile );
    COMMIT;
    END;
    Now , my requirement is not to insert one one file each and every time when I execute the procedure .
    My requirement is first to check the File system Directory (MY_PDF) . If
    there is any pdf file in the directory then it will call that procedure and insert that file into the database untill no files found in the dorectory ( MY_PDF) .
    I am not getting the idea how to do this ..
    Please someone provide some valueable inputs .. so that I can finish it up .
    Thanks
    Prashant Dwivedi

    Suggest using the FlowElement.setStyle method to attach additional information about the image to the InlineGraphicElement that gets created.  Looking at the example code in the posted link you'll need to pass that data to the imageLoadComplete method.  The InlineGraphicElement can be found by saving interactionManager.absoluteStart before the graphic is inserted and then calling textFlow.findLeaf(savedAbsoluteStart).
    Hope that helps,
    Richard

  • Fulltext search of binary files outside of database in SQL 2012/Server 2012

    This may be more of a Windows Server 2012 question but I'm not sure.
    I have a system that holds large amounts of binary files (pdf, doc, etc.).  The files themselves are held outside the database in a folder and a SQL table holds the metadata.  I used the Indexing Service available through Windows Server 2008 to
    create a catalog called "EFCATALOG" to index the contents of the external folder, then created a linked server called MYIDXS which allowed me to query that external indexing catalog from within SQL with a query like this:
    EXEC sp_addlinkedserver MYIDXS, 'Internal App', 'MSIDXS', 'EFCATALOG'
    SELECT * FROM MYDOCS
    LEFT JOIN OPENQUERY(MYIDXS,'SELECT FILENAME FROM SCOPE() WHERE CONTAINS (''test'')') AS MYTBL
    ON MYDOC_FILE_NAME = MYTBL.[FILENAME]
    With Windows Server 2012, I'm missing the functionality to create the indexing service catalog.  I've added the Windows Search Service and see how I can configure folders for searching, but there is no naming functionality for this and I don't see how
    I can get the above query/structure to work in Windows Server 2012/SQL Server 2012 environment.  In fact, there isn't much at all online regarding the search service or the relationship back to the older versions in 2008 and before.
    Is there any way to continue this structure in 2012?  I would like to avoid recoding my application to work with a different structure.  I'm afraid that changing everything to work with the FILETABLE/FILESTREAM functionality added in SQL 2012
    will be necessary which is fine long term, but not convenient right now.
    Thanks in advance for any suggestions/help.

    Thank you Fanny Liu, based on your link the syntax has changed dramatically. I need to query SYSTEMINDEX now and the structure is very different.    It still seems that this new syntax requires creating a linked server of a different type.
    I've tried:
    EXEC sp_addlinkedserver @server = 'TEST', @provider = 'Search.CollatorDSO.1', @datasrc = 'SYSTEMINDEX', @srvproduct = '', @provstr='Application=Windows'
    SELECT FileName FROM OPENQUERY("TEST", 'SELECT Filename FROM SYSTEMINDEX')
    Msg 7302, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
    Cannot create an instance of OLE DB provider "Search.CollatorDSO.1" for linked server "TEST".
    I've also tried using just "Search.CollatorDSO"as the provider since that is the provider name listed in management studio but basically the same error comes back.
    So I have 2 questions:
    1) Is it possible for my original process to work in Windows Server 2012 in any way (meaning that the OPENQUERY example I provided can remain relatively unchanged)?
    2) If change is necessary using this new SYSTEMINDEX and linked server combination, why is my linked server definition failing?  I'm using SQL Server 2012....Microsoft SQL Server 2012 - 11.0.2100.60 (X64)

  • How to load externl files (PDF) into BLOB column.  Please help.

    Hi All,
    I've currently been working on loading many external binary files (PDF) into BLOB column. After some digging, I learn that the SQL*LOADER can be used to load data from external files into table. I also got help from another forummate mentioning to use PL/SQL procedure to do so. Since I have not done anything like this before. So, my question is what is the simple approach needed to upload PDF files into a table(there is only one table containing BLOB column in my database). In addition, the LOBs can not be query-able, I wanted to list the contents of the LOBs column to make sure that I did successfully upload data into the database. How can I do that?. I do need your help. Please direct me step by step how to do so. Your help is greatly appreciated.

  • Facing challenges during creation of replica of .IDF file/Pdf output from 4.7 system into of Adobe forms in ECC 6.0 system

    Facing challenges during creation of replica of .IDF file/Pdf output from 4.7 system into of Adobe forms in ECC 6.0 system.
    If anybody has easy way to make those forms...
    Please suggest...

    Hi Shabeer,
    the first thing is that you are running on a very very low RAM.
    For ECC 6.0 with dual stack SAP System to run you should have atleast 4 GB of RAM.
    For your Dispatcher issue kindly check the status of your Oracle database and the connection from SAP To Database.
    You can check the oracle status using brtools utility.

  • Newbie Upoad PDF to blob then Delete File.pdf

    I want the user to upload A PDF and import it into A BLOB.
    That part is working.
    If the user uploads the WRONG PDF, I want them to be able to delete the FILEA.PDF.
    They can delete the FILEA.PDF, if they wait 4 or 5 minutes.
    Delete the FileA.PDF is the part that is not working, if the user does it in less
    than 4 or 5 minutes.
    The PDF is about 60K.
    Below is the sample code:
    =========================
    <code>
    SELECT mypdf
    INTO temp_blob
    FROM fcsImpactUpload
    where renname= 'FileB.PDF'
    FOR update;
    IF dbms_lob.fileexists(src_file)=1 THEN
    dbms_lob.fileopen(src_file, dbms_lob.file_readonly);
    lgh_file := dbms_lob.getlength(src_file);
    dbms_lob.loadfromfile(temp_blob, src_file, lgh_file);
    UPDATE fcsImpactUpload
    SET de_pdf = temp_blob
    where renname= 'FileB.PDF';
    COMMIT;
    END IF;
    UTL_FILE.FGETATTR('AIMSORAPDF', 'FileA.PDF', DOESEXIST, FLEN, BSIZE);
    IF DOESEXIST THEN
    UTL_FILE.FREMOVE('AIMSORAPDF','FileA.PDF');
    ELSE
    EXIT; -- File does not exist
    END IF;
    </code>

  • Inserting embeded PDF to database

    Hi,
    I have created a pdf file(a Form) that I would like to put on my website where I could enter the data inside the form's fields, and then save the pdf file to a database(mysql).
    If it can be done, how would I go about doing it?
    What I have tried so far is to embed the pdf on the page; added a server behaviour(Insert Record) to add the file to the database with a column('Form') of type blob.
    But that doesn't work. I get: 'Form' does not get a value

    Flav, PHP is the tool you want to use for this task.
    I can embed or iframe the pdf, but none of the database field types can recognize the file for insertion.
    This is a very bad idea. You're better off building a PHP form to handle the records.
    Could a simple php form include all individual fields(such as name, ordr#,etc..) and save that as one file instead of individually?
    What do you mean by this - there is no file in database. They're only records. Individual records allow for more flexibility in data collation which is good for you in the long run even if you're not anticipating it now.
    You can export and manipulate your data from MySQL Database in many ways - which is not possible from a PDF file.
    There's another way - if you do not want to use a database, you can write the data captured from your PHP form into an XML file or a Plain TXT file on your server - however I wont recommend this method for security reasons.
