Different Oracle Reports

Hello,
I have installed Oracle AS (10.1.2.) rel 2 for Linux 86. (Infratstructure & Middle tier on same box, i.e: BI and Forms).
I would like to use and configure Oracle Discovere.
How to do that?
I am new to Discoverer, please direct me any link for setting up Discoverer on Oracle AS environment.
It is installed but I would like to run different Oracle Reports.
Regards,
DN

For information on installing and configuring Discoverer please refer to the Discoverer documentation, specifically the Configuration Guide:
http://download-east.oracle.com/docs/html/B13918_03/toc.htm
See Chapter 2 - About Oracle Business Intelligence installations and OracleAS Infrastructures
I would also recommend looking at the BI documentation page for the Application Server as this contains some very useful links:

    Hello All,
We have Oracle Form base application running on the window OS.
    (Form version is 9.0.4.1.0)
Our Database is installed on Linux box (DB version: 10.1.0.3.0)
I need to run different Oracle reports from the form based application or from the form builder. (Report Builder 9.0.4.1.0)
Any feed back will be appreciated.
    Regards,

    try this
    Run_product(REPORTS,' <path to the report>', ASYNCHRONOUS, RUNTIME, FILESYSTEM,' ',NULL);

  • Different Ouptput in SQL & Oracle Report

    Hi,
    I have two tables. (1) TST_P (2) CUSTOMER_LIMIT
I use one select query for this
    SELECT distinct ORG_ID,CUSTOMER_ID,CUSTOMER_NAME,CUSTOMER_NUMBER,
    (select distinct NVL(sum(amount_due_original),0) from TST_P WHERE CUSTOMER_ID=P.CUSTOMER_ID AND P_FLG='A') A,
    (select distinct NVL(sum(amount_due_original),0) from TST_P WHERE CUSTOMER_ID=P.CUSTOMER_ID AND P_FLG='B') B,
    (SELECT distinct NVL(CREDIT_LIMIT,0) FROM CUSTOMER_LIMIT WHERE DEALER_ID=P.CUSTOMER_ID ) C
    from TST_P P
    GROUP BY ORG_ID,CUSTOMER_ID,CUSTOMER_NAME,CUSTOMER_NUMBER
    ORDER BY CUSTOMER_NAME
Now when I use this query in SQL prompt it gives perfect output.
And when i use this query in Oracle Report builder it give some duplicat records.

    Denes,
I was able to get it working based on one of your examples, it gets ugly when you embed the popup javascript into the link as you know. You have some really great examples, I hadn't been to your page in awhile.
Here is my end result (this is embedded in a decode statement so single ticks would go around the entire example below)
    &lt;a href="javascript:popUp2('''
    || 'f?p=&APP_ID.:71:&SESSION.::NO:100:'
    || 'P71_EQUIPMENT_ID,P71_CONTAINER_TYPE_ID:'

    || ''', 900, 600);">'

Thanks to all that helped me out here,

  • Oracle Report Builder Font diffrenece in different O/S

    Dear All,
The report that I have developed in windows environment using Oracle Report Builder while running in Solaris environment displaying wrong character. Basically I am trying to display Portuguese character in my report, its working fine while running in windows environment where as when I run the same in Solaris environment its displaying wrong character.
    Sample:
In Windows Environment the word that I am trying to display is - RESUMO DE TARIFAGCO POR BANCO
where as its displaying wrong in Solaris environment - RESUMO DE TARIFA?O POR BANCO
Thanks in advance to provide solution.

    Hi
Reports builder picks up the font information from the display server and printer. In case you need the same font to appear in layout editor and paper design i.e live-previewer, make sure respective fonts are installed in your display server for the character sets you are using. If you are running the report to file with pdf/html format etc or to the printer, make sure the required printer fonts are installed. PLease also refer Font document on otn under Reports doc section.
    Thanks
    Rohit

  • Grouping in rtf template like oracle reports - a newbie question

    Hello all
I am new to BI Publisher and have probablly a silly question to ask.
I have a basic query that returns a flat xml file which looks something like this. it will have multiple rows.
    <ROWSET>
    <ROW num="1">
    <DATE>01-DEC-2007</DATE>
    <PACKAGE>XXX </PACKAGE>
    <DROP_OFF>Hotel1</DROP_OFF>
    <ROOM>1</ROOM>
    <NAME>Test Customer</NAME>
    <PROBLEM_RECORDED>N</PROBLEM_RECORDED>
    <EXCEPTION>1</EXCEPTION>
    </ROW>
    </ROWSET>
Because i am fairly new to xml i am at a loss trying to work out how i can form a template that will effectively allow grouping at say
    1. Date Level
    2. Package Level
    3.Drop Off level
    4. put all other data in here
In reports i would just do groups and alter the layout accordingly. Obviously if i had an oracle report version of the sql that generates the xml then i could just generate the xml from the report and i would get the xml i am looking for .
But I am working with basic sql not reports and am wondering What do I have to do with my xml to get it looking live the grouping I mention above, given all i have to play with is the example xml I included. I am really bamboozled and think i am missing something simple.
I dont want to have to write multiple queries with different groupings using cast , multiset as I thought one of the benefits of BI Publisher was one query multiple layouts.
    Thanks
    Lisa

If you haev word plugin installed,
please follow the documentation and try using that,
load the xml in the word plugin
and then select insert table/form and then you can do the drag and drop,
    and group by each fields.

  • ORACLE reports Build 10g - Data Model - query - If statement in Alias ?

I have the following select statement. It has the alias Survivors, Deaths and "All
With the ORACLE reports Build 10g - Data Model - I have the following query statement. I require the alias to change. Can the following be done.
Cases". Is it posible to use :P_LANGUAGE variable to say that -- IF :P_LANGUAGE = FRENCH THEN alias are Survivants for survivors, Décès for Deaths, Tous_les_cas for All Cases. Please advise
SELECT ALL T_NTR_MULTIBAR.CAT, T_NTR_MULTIBAR.NUM_CASES_LEFTBAR AS Survivors,
T_NTR_MULTIBAR.NUM_CASES_MIDDLEBAR AS Deaths, T_NTR_MULTIBAR.NUM_CASES_RIGHTBAR AS "All Cases"
    FROM T_NTR_MULTIBAR
    WHERE INSTANCE_NUM = :P_INSTANCENUM
    order by ORDERS

It is no problem, you can automatically change the complete query before the report is running, which delivers you different kind of values. But the alias names does not change in the group of the data-model, although two query are running with different alias names at different times. In the data model you see the alias names of the first implemented select statement, which are the column fields in the layout.

  • Oracle Reports 6i with Oracle 8.1.7?

    Solaris 7 (sparc)
    Oracle RDBMS 8.1.7
    Reports 6i (release 2)
I am trying to install Reports 6i on a machine that has Oracle RDBMS 8.1.7 installed already. The last time I tried installing to the same ORACLE_HOME it corrupted all my executables. After reading the docs again, I noticed the Reports docs say Reports requires Orcle 8.0.6. I thought it might be better to install to a new ORACLE_HOME (/u01/app/oracle/product/8.0.6), however, there is no RDBMS installed there and the installer complains.
Could someone offer some suggestions on how it should be installed in this type of environment. What steps should be followed to allow Oracle Reports 6i to co-exist peacefully on the same machine/ORACLE_HOME as the Oracle 8.1.7 instance.

  • Oracle report from 6i to 10g

    hi all,
We try to move oracle report from 6i to 10g. however we found that the report's record ordering is different.
The case is that, the record in report is ordered according to the attribute "break order".
There is no "order by" in sql".
It runs without problems in 6i, but in 10g , the ordering of the record has no ordering.
Please help to solve the problems or give some advice. Thanks.

Break order property only works for ordering in break groups. For other groups (like the lowest level group) you have to use order by in your SQL.
That was also the case in 6i, so you may just have been lucky that it worked at all.
    This is from the Help:
The Break Order property is the order in which to display the column's values. This property applies only to columns that identify distinct values of user-created groups (i.e., break groups ). The order of column values in a default group is determined by the ORDER BY clause of the query for SQL queries

  • Layout issue while trying Migrate Oracle Report to XML publisher Reports

    Hi
I am trying to Convert Seeded Oracle Reports (rdf) to BI Publisher reports, in doing so encounter layout issues. The layout of the RTF , PDF or HTML generated by BI Publisher is different form the text, PDF or HTML outputs generated by the concurrent report. The problem with the BI Publisher template and out put
Is, the lay out is getting distorted .
Steps to archive the migration :
    -     download the rdf from the server to local m/c.
    -     execute Forms 9i Util rwconverter to generate a xml
    -     use the oracle.apps.xdo.rdfparser.RTFTemplateGenerator API to generate a RTF template of the report layout
    -     Then use this template to generate a XSL via oracle.apps.xdo.template.RTFProcessor API
    -     The Apply the XSL on the XML data output of the report using oracle.apps.xdo.template.FOProcessor to generate RTF , PDF & HTML files.
Name of the Report used for migration “FSG - Report Detail Listing” , responsibility GL super User. This was just a random report we picked-up for trial.
The layout of these files seems to distorted than the layout of the original report output as generated by the rdf report.
Pls suggest some means to resolve this or any pointers towards what causing this could be of help.
    -     Shudipto

The process of "converting" an old Oracle Reports rdf into a BIP report is more akin to writing a brand new report in BIP than to what most people would consider a true conversion.
The conversion routine outlined by Oracle just gives you a starting point for converting RDF layouts into BIP, and nothing more. In regards to the data define it does somewhat better generating your queries and XML layout (but honestly, that is the easy part), but even for the data define it will lose your formula columns as well as report triggers.
I have used the converter on several dozen rdf files and I have yet to see one that is better than 10-20% ready for use after the conversion process.
I would strongly suggest that you only convert the reports that you have to convert (for enhancements, modifications, etc). If it ain't broke in old Oracle Reports, dont' try to fix it in BIP.

Thank you so much for your help. I used event driven pulishing and needed to install SRW package on my infra database and it is working good now.
One thing I am struggling with sending pdf reports to another server. I could create a pdf at runtime, but needed to send to another server for storage. I could set up the desname parameter to store the pdf in the same report server by using the following code
    PORTAL.srw.add_parameter(myPlist, 'DESNAME', 'c:\Report\abcd');
but to store in a different server I don't know how to do that. Any help would be appreciated

  • Storing oracle-reports generated pdf-report onto a blob

    Hey ppl,
    I have this requirement:
I basically generate a report from Jdev using a remote servlet call to oracle reports, which very neatly generates the pdf document for me and stores it locally. The problem is immediately storing this onto the DB as a blob once the report is generated. I know how to store the pdf as a blob onto the DB. I know how to make the call to oracle-reports and generate my pdf. What I don't know is to sequentially first generate the local pdf report and only once that has been generated proceed to store it onto my DB.
I want it to be done within the scope of a single request. As in, the entire process should be complete through one cycle. I don't want to keep a day end sort of procedure that inserts into the db at the end of the day.
As soon as the report has been requested by the user, I want the pdf file(which is generated by the reports) to also be stored onto the DB.
My problem (which i apologize has been repeated already 2wice above) is that I basically lose control once redirected through the servlet to the report call. There is no way i can instruct Jdev, from the reports side, that the pdf has been generated and now has to be stored onto the DB, as i have lost the session context by redirecting to a different servlet.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.
    Cheers
    K

    Hi,
its quite some time ago that I a looked Oracle Reports, however, I think that the event mechanism is quite complex to achieve
I want it to be done within the scope of a single request.
Which means that if Oracle Reports hangs, the user session follows.
As in, the entire process should be complete through one cycle.
Unfortunately you don't control how long reports run, which means that there is no sense in stopping the page lifecycle for this
I don't want to keep a day end sort of procedure that inserts into the db at the end of the day.
Fair enough, but as far as I remember there is an eventing in Reports that would allow you to have the Oracle Reports Server triggering the upload
So I think, the architecture I would go for is:
    - user requests report
    - report generates PDF output
    - reports uploads to DB
    - reports_processing table holds user ID and reports ID plus flag to update when report is done
    - If using JSF, you could use af:poll to check frequently for the report to be finished.

  • Help desiging a 10g Oracle Report with Matrix and Lexical Parameters - Long

    Hello all:
I apologize in advance for this long post.... I'm using Oracle Reports 10g (9.0.4.0.33). First -- the question:
I need to create a Matrix where the rows come from one database table
(TABLE1) and the columns and cell contents come from a linked query (pulled from TABLE2) that is generated with lexical parameters based on the current TABLE1 row. The lexical parameters contain a WHERE clause for the TABLE2 query. Basically, I have a linked query between TABLE1 and TABLE2. I need to generate a Matrix around it.
Does anyone know if this is even possible?
Here's the background on the application, if that is helpful...
I have an application where I maintain database tables containing names/addresses along with information pertaining to them. As part of the processing, I need to produce reports that contain statistics based on values in the table. For example, each row has a field RTYPE that identifies the Record Type (1-Suppress, 2-Buyer, 3-Inquirer). Each row also has a last purchase date field. The statistics produced for this field would look like this:
              2001     2002     2003     11/03     12/03 01/04     02/04 03/04     04/04     05/04 ...
    Buyer      100 150 250 30 25 15 8 9 22 83
    Inquirer     1000 800 493 ...
    Suppress ... ...
    Totals ... ...
Each cell contains the count of the number of records that have the corresponding RTYPE and Last Purchase date. The dates across the top are determined by the most recent purchase date in the file. We count the last 12 months, month by month, and then anything older than that is grouped by
year of purchase. So, the column headings are variable.
The SQL query for this example looks like this:
SELECT CASE WHEN rtype = '2' THEN 'Buyers'
WHEN rtype = '3' THEN 'Inquirers'
WHEN rtype = '1' THEN 'Suppress'
    END HLDESC,
    CASE WHEN MONTHS_BETWEEN(trunc(:MAXHLDATE,'MONTH'),
    TRUNC(T.HOTLINE,'MONTH')) < 12
    THEN TO_CHAR(T.HOTLINE,'YYYYMM')
    ELSE TO_CHAR(T.HOTLINE,'YYYY') || '00'
    END YYMM_8,
    CASE WHEN MONTHS_BETWEEN(trunc(:MAXHLDATE,'MONTH'),
    TRUNC(T.HOTLINE,'MONTH')) < 12
    THEN TO_CHAR(T.HOTLINE,'MM/YY')
    ELSE TO_CHAR(T.HOTLINE, 'YYYY')
    END FmtDate_8,
    COUNT(*) HLCOUNT
    FROM &TABLENAME T
GROUP BY CASE WHEN rtype = '2' THEN 'Buyers'
WHEN rtype = '3' THEN 'Inquirers'
WHEN rtype = '1' THEN 'Suppress'
    END,
    CASE WHEN MONTHS_BETWEEN(trunc(:MAXHLDATE,'MONTH'),
    TRUNC(T.HOTLINE,'MONTH')) < 12
    THEN TO_CHAR(T.HOTLINE,'YYYYMM')
    ELSE TO_CHAR(T.HOTLINE,'YYYY') || '00'
    END,
    CASE WHEN MONTHS_BETWEEN(trunc(:MAXHLDATE,'MONTH'),
    TRUNC(T.HOTLINE,'MONTH')) < 12
    THEN TO_CHAR(T.HOTLINE,'MM/YY')
    ELSE TO_CHAR(T.HOTLINE, 'YYYY')
    END
    ORDER BY CASE WHEN MONTHS_BETWEEN(trunc(:MAXHLDATE,'MONTH'),
    TRUNC(T.HOTLINE,'MONTH')) < 12
    THEN TO_CHAR(T.HOTLINE,'YYYYMM')
    ELSE TO_CHAR(T.HOTLINE,'YYYY') || '00'
    END
There might be a better way to write this, but that isn't the issue at the moment.
I have many different tables, each with different fields. I need to produce counts on each of those fields. Some of those fields have a limited number of values where I need to count the occurrences and attach a description (like the RTYPE counts above). Others, like Last Purchase Amount, require counts within ranges (between 0 and 9.99, 10 and 19.99, etc.). Still others are "multiple choice"-style fields (such as products purchased), where we have multiple single-char flags that are not null when the corresponding products are purchased. In this case, we need to produce statistics that look like this:
              2001     2002     2003     11/03     12/03 01/04     02/04 03/04     04/04     05/04 ...
    Product 1 .........
    Product 2 .........
The worst of the bunch is a field where I need to count the occurrence of each value within it (hundreds of values) without entering descriptions, so I don't know how many rows will appear ahead of time. This is used for "source codes" that identify where the name/address came from. They look similar to the RTYPE above, but the leftmost column contains each value from the field rather than a description. There are so many possible values and they change so often that it isn't feasible to enter a description for each one.
Right now, I manually create an Oracle Report for each table when I design/load it. This is becoming difficult to manage, since I have over 150 of them now. Each of these reports can have any number of matrices to display (the largest right now has about 25).
The new table structure to generate these reports consists of two tables: A COUNTHDR table and a COUNTROW table. The COUNTHDR table represents a single Matrix within the report. It contains info such as a heading for the Matrix and whether column totals should be calculated or not. The COUNTROW table contains a description for each row and an SQL Fragment that contains an appropriate WHERE clause to match the description. In the event of a "source code" style count, COUNTHDR has the name of the field to count. COUNTROWs won't exist, so I'll be handling those counts differently. But, ignoring that issue for now, the report structure looks like this:
    + Q1 +
    |
    + COUNTHDR +
    |
    + COUNTROW +
    | linked query
    + Q2 +
    |
    + COUNTDTL +
Q2 is the query with lexical parameters for the table and "where clause" that identifies the actual statistic I need counted. I need fields from COUNTROW and COUNTDTL to form a Matrix.
    Can this be done? How?
Of course, if anyone out there has a better idea on how to achieve my goal of not writing a report per table, please let me know!! :-)
    TIA
    Eric Raskin
PS. This structure does not exactly duplicate my original query, since multiple Matrix rows are created by the single SQL query given in the example. Instead, I'll end up executing an SQL query for each row, which is less than desirable. The design will need some tweaking...
PPS. I have tried handling this problem by pre-counting the target table and storing the results in a COUNTCOL table, containing the details of the matrix. This actually does work, but the performance is terrible. I have one "source code"-style count that generated over 20,000 detail cells, including all the "0" cells needed to fill out the matrix. If you don't generate the "0" cells, you get holes in the matrix presentation and/or error messages (which I can explain if you wish). I never did get Oracle Reports to print this one -- I gave up after an hour of runtime on a P4 3GHz machine connected via Gigabit Ethernet to the server. Hence the attempt to push the SQL Queries back into the Oracle Report itself.

  • Converting a simple Oracle Report to XML Publisher report template

    Hello,
I have a simple Oracle Report 9i which displays data from four tables. It uses three different queries to get the data. How can I simply generate a template file(say RTF) or atleast an XML source from that report? I tried joining the queries (like outer join) but wasn't able to get the format which report 9i was generating. Could anyone please help me out with a clear approach?

    Hi,
Are you referring to how to get xml out put from seeded report i mean from EBS that already in oracle reports,
then you need to query from respective application by creating new concurrent program and then change the out put to XML, you will get xml file then save it to your system.
By using this input xml fle you can create RTF template whatever you want the foramat, after that you upload back this RTF file to EBS using XML PUBLISHER ADMINISTRATOR responsibility.
hope this might give you idea,
let us know if it is not clear or you are asking different question,

Why does the trace file indicate that the rwEng engine died with error?+
Again why does the rwURLEng engine start up and then immediately shut down?+
Thank you for your help on this issue.+

OK, I did this once and did not follow the oracle docs
If you saved your targets.xml before you started you might save it by renaming it back.
(Double check to make sure you did not miss a rename)
Otherwise, all I have to offer is my rough notes:
    1. Backup the file $ORACLE_HOME/sysman/emd/targets.xml.
    [oracle@ias02 emd]$ pwd
    /u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/sysman/emd
    cp targets.xml targets.xmlbackup
    2. Modify the file targets.xml by changing all the occurrences of the wrong reports server name by the correct one.
    i.e. Replace rep_test_midtier with rep_new (4 places - changes)
Copy the conf file as follows: ( this will named different from system to system )
    cp /u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/reports/conf/rep_pia_oracleas.conf /u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/reports/conf/rep_fam.conf
    run this script:
/u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/bin/addNewServerTarget.sh rep_fam          (change rep_fam to new report server name)
    3.Update the changed configuration .
    /u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/dcm/bin/dcmctl updateconfig -ct opmn -v -d
    /u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/dcm/bin/dcmctl resyncinstance -v -d
    4. Restart the Application Server Control Console
    /u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/bin/emctl stop iasconsole
    /u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/bin/emctl start iasconsole
    In the file:
    /u01/app/oracle/product/midtier/reports/config/reportsConfig.properties
Change the Reports_Server_Name setting from rep_test_midtier to rep_fam (change rep_fam to new report server name)
Best Wishes (I was able to save mime)
The other option is to reinstall
