Different width of TextField inside browser versus outside browser

Hi all.
I'm trying to build a fill-in-the-blanks excercise using flash.
Suppose the excerise is:
- I want to eat a bana_
You have to fill in the word "na" of course.
The _ would be the inputfield and I would like it to start right after the Textfield. To do this I use the TextField._width to calculate the position.
I'm using embedded fonts with htmltext.
Now I've found that sometimes, but not always, the position of the inputfields is off because the _width of the TextField does not seem correct.
Also, the width of the Textfield is calculated differently by flash if it is inside a browser or outside of it.
I think these problems might be related to eachother.
It's hard to describe, but I hope my example will show the problem. Please try inside a browserwindow and outside of it and see the different _width.
Does anyone have any idea why this is? Am I doing something wrong or is it a flash bug?

Not too many visitors will test your line widths with a screen capture.
Find a size you like in browser preview and go with it.
Design View is not really WYSIWYG
If you wish, you can use em's or CSS word spacing to tweak.

Why can access the dynamic textField inside a Button?

yep, I have another problem
I create a button in the library, it has a background graphic
on a layer and a textField, the textField has a instance name
defined in the properties panels and some text. I manually place
some instance of the button on stage, I give them different
instance names and voilà a new problem arise
when with actionscript I try to assign a new text to the
textField inside a button it throws me error 1119. A quick look at
the menu option debug ->list objects, shows me that the instance
name of the textField inside the button it is not what I defined
but it was replaced with some random name like "instance66"
I did a test with a movieclip instead of a button and I can
correctly access my textField with the instance name that I
manually defined.
Why that can be the same with the button? And if for some
arcane reason cant be possible to access a manually defined
instance inside a button WHY flash give me the possibility to give
an instance name to a dynamic textField inside a button?

Buttons simply do not have the same properties and methods
that movieclips have. Anytime you want to create a button that has
anything beyond the simple 3 states of activity, use a movieclip.
I can't answer why flash allows you to give an instance name
to the textfield, but in any case, it won't allow you to use
it.

Difference in Inside-out and Outside-In development approaches

We can go for Interface development in 2 ways..:
1. Create Interface objects in XI and replicate that thing in both sides for further development..
Adv :: You are not dependent on others for XI development....Like in case of Proxies.
Disadvantage : Skill in proxy required..
2. Create RFC/IDoc in end systems and import those in XI for development..
Advantage : People are usually familiar/comfortable with adapter oriented approach rather then adapter less..
Disadvantage : you can't start your work before the end systems have completed their task..Once they have completed then only you can import the RFC/IDoc and proceed..
About deciding the approach : It depends upon teams strength/situation ...Like in one of the project i have worked Project needs to be done by a Consortium of 3 teams from different companies..One for handling legacy one for R3 one for XI..
So we went for Approach 1 as we don't want our work to be dependent on others..

PDF is not opening in Mac Firefox, asking for save/download, I want to open it inside browser

Im facing an issue with Mac Firefox, when Im trying to open pdf file in FF for Mac, its asking for download/save rather than opening up inside browser window like other browsers do.
Can you please help me out to solve this, its happening only with Mac Firefox.

When using Appleworks database for printing labels can I have columns of different widths?

When using Appleworks database for printing labels can I have a column of different width?
Case in point, the supplied avery labels in Appleworks does not have 8195. When I build one using custom design I need a small column between column 2 and 3 to line up the info in columns 3 and 4. All the labels are 1.3/4 inch wide but I need to insert a column 1/4 wide to match up with the avery page....
Any ideas???

Well, the issue is that when you creat a custom width of 1.3/4 from the edge of the first label to the edge of label 2 all is good. The right and left margins were also set correct in AW. The Avery page, for some reason, has a small 1/4 inch column between the columns of label 2 and 3 therefore making the distance between the left edge of the label in column 2 and the right edge of the label in column 3 - a width of 2 inches and not 1.3/4.
I guess Avery wanted the page to look even.
I did this work around.....
I created a custom lay out of 2 columns (not 4) with the correct width of 1.3/4 from label edge to label edge and the correct left side margin. After printing the first page I just turned the sheet 180 degress and printed the 2nd page to use all the labels on the Avery sheet. Since the upper and lower margin were the same it worked great....

Report rows differing widths

Hi,
I have a report which contains 4 tablix one above the other all with exactly the same left, padding and width. In Bids preview all the rows display equal width and they also do if i export as PDF. However in report viewer all the tablix are different widths,
some even have the header in one width and the details rows different.
I believe the rows are being stretched as one of the cells has an image in which is stretched in report viewer and looks fine exported to pdf or viewed in bids.
Does anyone know what the issue is?

According to your description, you can render your report properly in BIDS and PDF file. However, when it displayed in report viewer, the tablix are in different size. Right?
In this scenario, it seems the issue of the page size in report viewer. It seems the page size in report viewer is too small, so when displayed in report viewer, the image still keeps the same size as you preview in BIDS, and the other part need to
resize so that it can fit the report viewer. Please try to adjust the page size. See link below:

Tables with different-width columns

Whist creating a table with multiple rows and columns, I need some of the columns to be different widths on each row. I can do this easily in Word by simply selecting the cell and command-drag the vertical line at the left or right hand side.
When I do this in InDesign, the whole damn column moves. I do not want this.
Also - as in Word - I need to be able to calculate sums.
Why is none of this possible with such a powerful application like InDesign CC 2014? Seems like Microsoft Word kicks InDesign CC 2014's *** on this.

I do not want InDesign to work like Word, oh no. I just designed a 200 page book in InDesign - it was a breeze. I shudder at the thought of having to do that in Word. The table functions of the application are limited. Here's the thing, I want to be able to layout a specialised table/form with my specialised design tool and be able to specify the sizes of columns, cells and rows as I choose, and change on the fly if necessary. My screwdriver drives screws in - and back out again as I choose. I can slide an individual column divider one way but not the other. It's a bit like having an all singing-all dancing Swiss Army knife that doesn't have the corkscrew, and your out on a picnic with a nice bottle of red in your basket.
A guy from Adobe remote-shared my screen, telling me what I wanted to achieve was possible. I showed him using Word how easy it was. He tried and failed in InDesign and conceded that it was in fact not possible. He gave me a link to Adobe for a feature request!

Sliding Panels Problem: Content panels with different width?

I'm trying to create the exact same behaviour as this Argentinian Photographer have done:

and searched the forum but couldn't find an answer.
I'm almost there. The problem is that I have 6 test photos that are of the same height (and the same height as the slidingpanel view port) but different in width. If I set the class .SlidingPanelsContent to the same width as the largest picture(i.e. panel) then it creates a white space until the next pic starts. And If I set the width to the same as the smallest picture then it crops the other ones.

In the css file before the .SlidingPanelsContent class Adobe states that they in their default implementation has set the width to the same as the view port to ensure that only one panel at a time can be viewed within the view port. But I want the opposite.
How do I solve this?

It seems to me that if you have all different width images, you will want to remove the width from the content pane. That should allow the images to butt up next to each other without either extra white space (for smaller images) or cropping (of larger images). Saenz's photos are in divs with a class of .panelfoto that has the definition of float: left; width: auto;
I have not played around a lot with sliding panels, but it seems reasonable to me that that would work.

You know, if you really want something very close to what the example site looks like, look into his code and imitate it.
It does not appear that every move of the pane goes the same distance, and I'm not sure what controls that, but I see some of his images moving part-way, exposing part of the next, and so forth, instead of a complete image change each time. Using different width photos will do that partly, of course.

Set the height and width of a new browser window

I am trying to open a new browser window when the user clicks
on an audio. The audio will be played in the new browser window.
The only problem I have is that I cannot set the height and width
of the new browser window. I need the window to be much smaller.
How can I do this in flash?

Problem showing Menu when inside browser

Hi All,
Recently, I just realized that I could not show the menu when I'm inside Browser application (built-in browser from 8520).
The menu (supposed to be showing up if we push the bb button on the left side of trackpad) works well on other application.

Question about NAT Inside Source, Inside Destination, and Outside Source

I read the Cisco command references about "ip nat inside source", "inside destination", and "outside source", but couldn't have a clear understanding of how to associate the commands with "ip nat inside" and ip nat outside" configured for interfaces.
Does "ip nat inside source ..." translation only happen on the interface configured as "ip nat inside"?
Since NAT is a bidirectional action, what's the difference between "ip nat inside cource ..." and "ip nat inside destination ..."?
I've never used "ip nat outside source ...". In what cases would it be needed?
On an interface where there are NAT translation and also other actions such as policy map or IP Sec crypto map, would NAT happen before or after other actions?

Setting the value of a textfield inside dataTable

Hi All
I have a dataTable which contains one textField and a commandLink in each row.When the commandLink is clicked a popup containing list of values is opened.When the user selects a value from that popup I have to set it to the adjacent textfield.
This behaviour is working fine outside the table.What am doing is finding the adjacent textfield by client id and calling
textField..getValueBinding("value").setValue(context,value)
But inside the table the following exception is thrown.
Caused by: javax.faces.el.PropertyNotFoundException: Base is null: mem
     at org.apache.myfaces.el.ValueBindingImpl.resolveToBaseAndProperty(ValueBindingImpl.java:463)

Whats the ideal way to tackle this issue ?

My bean is in session scope.But the issue is , when i call the inputField.getValueBinding("value") for a component inside table, the binding obtained is that of the request scope variable var.
When i calls the valueBinnding.setValue(context,"value") this attribute is not available.
i think my approach is not correct...
