Please could u tel me Difference between Table and Template In Smartform

Table exteds dynamically.
Template is fixed in size.
template is Output of a table containing static data
these are the Possible direct successors-All except window, page, table,
and template nodes
Table - Output of a table containing application
data and these are the Possible direct successors-as with template node
Template is used for proper allignment of data which table is used for displaying multiple data.
We can say Template is for static data and Table is for dynamic data.
Suppose we have a requirement in which we have to allign the customer address in such a way as shown below:-
Name- Krishna Company- WIPRO Location- Chennai
Desig- S/W Native - Mumbai
Then for proper allighnment we can create a template and split that into 3 columns and 2 rows and create text elements for each cell display a proper allighned data at the output.
When we include a template inside a loop it gives the same property as a table.
When we have mutiple data which is to be extended to the next page like when we display all employee details in a company we use table.
Table has 3 sections , HEADER, ITEM ,FOOTER
The header secntion will be executed once and it will loop at the item level. at the end footer will be executed.

    TABLES=>
    In forms of business procedures you usually want to list details such as open items of an invoice. You can use a Smart Form to display this data in a table. You can design the layout of the table independent of the number of lines it will contain. The size of the table depends on how much data the application program passes to the form at runtime (unlike with templates, where you specify the number of columns and lines explicitly). The table can cover one or more pages, depending on the number of lines. This is why you display tables in the main window.
    TEMPLATES=>
    Use node type Template to display a table whose layout and size (number of lines and columns) is determined before the runtime of the application program. For this reason, a template is also called a static table.
    To create a template, define a table layout to determine the cell structure for each line. The cells are used to display the contents of the inferior nodes of the template node. This allows you to position text and a graphic side by side (see Displaying Graphics in Templates).
    The template node is also suited for label printing.

    Template :
    1. No of rows & coloumns are fixed.
    2. u can directly mention, which data has to be fill in which row & coloumn.
    3. Templates are used, where u r having static no of data.
    ( ex : Name, rollno, age, ***)
    4. No header & footer
    Table :
    1. No of cols are fixed, u can have 'n' no of rows.
    2. it has header & footer concept
    A table is meant to be used to display dynamic number of lines (eg. invoice line items), whereas a template is for fixed number of column and lines (labels).

    can you please tell me what is the difference between table and template in smart forms,
    and als give me some object developed in smart forms.

    it is not recommended because, when ever we activate the smartform it generates one function module.
    if we transport that driver program and smartform to testing or production, in that server the generated function module name will be differ.
    hope u got it.
    for this we need to use these function modules.

    Hi there.
    Tables alow you to achieve more complex flows with internal tables. You can use different types os lines, like footer, header, line items, and differente types of line items. Also, and most important, you have different processing blocks, again header block (processed before processing of first row), body block (rows) and footer block (after last row or page break).
    If you don't need any of this, use a template inside a loop to achieve something like a table. I personaly use templates only to draw lines, for example, before and after a loop, or to align some header in my documents.
    A table, is a loop and template mixed to become a very good tool.

  • Use of table and template in Smartform

    Hi,
    I need an output in the smartform as shown below in the form of a table. I have tried doing this only with the use of template(create->Template) but I am not able to print the heading using text elements one after another. Only the first cell is getting populated with the heading.
    I assume this can be accomplished with a template as well as a table.
    Can anyone please let me know how this can be done?
    Any help would be appreciated.

    template is 4 , when u know , how many rows u want , u can use.
    If u dnt know then use Table .
    Now when u creat text element u have to assign row number ,
    and colomn number .
    for that click on text element go to ouput option.
    then only it will display in perticular row/col.
    if u didnt assign , default it will come in 1st row nd col.

    are you refering to Smartforms?
    Well in SF, table is something that contains data. Tables could be dynamic.
    Template is a fixed format. Example if you have a invoice and the format is fixed with several vertical and horizontal lines. And you have terms and condition to be printed at the bottom. And the total amount.
    Now this template will be printed in the form even if there are line items and even if htere is no line items.

    ASCII format. The table is transferred as text. The conversion exits are
    carried out. The output format additionally depends on the parameters
    CODEPAGE, TRUNC_TRAILING_BLANKS, and TRUNC_TRAILING_BLANKS_EOL.
    'IBM' :
    ASCII format with IBM codepage conversion (DOS). This format correspond
    to the 'ASC' format when using target codepage 1103. This codepage is
    often used for data exchange by disc.
    'DAT' :
    Column-by-column transfer. With this format, the data is transferred as
    with ASC text. However, no conversion exists are carried out and the
    columns are separated by tab characters. This format creates files that
    can be uploaded again with gui_upload or ws_upload.
    'DBF' :
    The data is downloaded in dBase format. Because in this format the file
    types of the individual columns are included, import problems, for
    example, into Microsoft Excel can be avoided, especially when
    interpreting numeric values.
    'WK1' :
    The data is downloaded in Lotus 1-2-3 format.
    'BIN' :
    Binary format. The data is transferred in binary format. There is no
    formatting and no codepage conversion. The data is interpreted row by
    row and not formatted in columns. Specify the length of the data in
    parameter BIN_FILESIZE. The table should consist of a column of type X,
    because especially in Unicode systems the conversion of structured data
    into binary data leads to errors.

    If so then how they are positioned in the main window? Means which table to come first and which to be the next?

    both tables and templates can be printed any number of times ina  main window.
    The tables as in sequence are printed...after ending with the first it gets on to the another.
    If u want to print it under some cdonditions you can do it using the condition tabs.As per it is a main window the dats gets flowing to the next page so as the order goes thae data goes on printed.

    It is interesting that the maximum wait for a single block read reported by TKPROF is 0.49 seconds - this might be an indication of excessive competition for the server's CPU - processes are waiting in the CPU run queue, and therefore not on the CPU. As Toon indicated, 632.12 of the 721.56 seconds were spent waiting for single block reads to complete with 46,544 blocks read. Note also that the query executed at dep=1, and TKPROF may be providing misleading information about what actually happened during those executions. An example of misleading information:

On your database platform with single block reads, it might be possible that the time in the CPU run queue is not always counted in the db file sequential read wait time or the CPU wait time - what if your operating system is slow at returning timing information to the database instance due to CPU saturation - this might explain the 74 (or 88) lost seconds.

    Hi,
    Template table means temporary table. It will take all the input data. We don't need to create this table. Import table means you are importing already created table. That means you had already defined the field names and field lengths. Hope this helps.

    Hi,
    reference: no sid table, no master data, no data element, more or less just a pointer to the referenced object with the possibility to have a different name for the same thing.
    template: sid table, master data, data element, a object of it's own as a copy of the template object, but a complete other object.
