Disable Button based on PL/SQL call

I have a PL/SQL Function in the database that returns a zero if a condition is true or non zero if false.
I wrote a custom method in my Application Module named canReadSubmission to call this function. The first try at this returns a boolean. I exposed the method to the client.
Now I'm working in my JSF page, and I want to set the Disabled property on a button, so that the button is enabled if the function returns "true" or disabled if the function returns "false".
I added an action binding to the method in my Application Module (a methodAction) to the PageDef for the page. I also added an invokeAction to the executables section with Refresh="always". Then I set the Disabled property for the button to "#{!bindings.canReadSubmission.result}
I'm getting the following message:
JBO-25221: Method TEDSAppModuleDataControl.dataProvider.canReadSubmission() not supported
Any ideas?

Yes I exposed the method through the BC client interface.
Yes I created a method binding in the pageDef (by the way, the method has two parameters which I set to two of the attributes in a bound iterator from the same pageDef)
And yes, the method is declared as returning a boolean, which I do set to true or false.
I also added an "invokeAction" tag to the executables section of the pageDev file - since I discovered that the method wasn't being executed at all without that.
Some attempts at debugging showed that the error occurs upon call - the method is never actually entered. One thing I happened upon in my research - one reference (now I can't find it again.) seemed to say that if the method returns anything, it needs to return an Object - which I'm not doing, I'm returning a scalar - a boolean. Does this ring a bell with anyone?

  • How to disable Buttons based on condition.

    Hi
    Need your help to disable button based on condition.
    Please refer the application:
    http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=34797:5:110582943383419::NO:::
    login credentials:
    workspace: vsanthanam
    user: vijay
    pswd: apex_demo
    In the above application, i have 2 buttons in page 5, (Report1 and Report2)
    Where i have to disable button based on the following conditon:
    i) USER whoever has Admin value 'Y' in my table can access the button.
    for this i've written a Button Condition : Type (EXISTS)
    select 1 from apex_extra_values where rtrim(lower(empname)) like decode((select Admin from apex_extra_values
    where rtrim(lower(empname))=rtrim(lower(V('APP_USER')))),'Y',rtrim(lower(V('APP_USER'))))
    note: i have empname same as my APEx user name. with Admin access 'Y'.
    By using this code i can able to hide the button for users who has no Admin access.
    But my requirement is : i have to show the button even if the user is not Admin, but to grey out (disable the button - no action)
    I tried using javascript function:
    function disableButton(pThis)
    pThis.disabled=true;
    But either of this (exists condtion or JAvascript function) works in my case and not both.
    Any pointer on this would be highlt appreciated.
    Thanks
    Vijay

    Couple of things:
    1. I would never use v('APP_ITEM') but :APP_ITEM - it is faster and there is no need to use this function within an application
    2. The way you are doing this check is not the best approach. You should create an authorization schema and run this once per session. Whatever this authorization is returning as a result you can check using the following Function returning boolean:
    IF apex_util.public_check_authorization ('MY_AUTH') THEN RETURN TRUE; ELSE RETURN FALSE; END IF;
    See this example on authorization issues:
    http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=31517:148
    3. As far as disabling a button is concerned I think I explained the options. I also have an example on that here:
    http://apex.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=31517:143
    whereby it is not disabling but hiding a button.

  • Show and Hide button based on PL/SQL or SQL return value ( Conditional Disp

    Hi
    I have a button on one of my pages.
    It should be seen if the date field is entered.
    It should not be seen if the date filed is null. I have procedure to return a boolean . How do I make button display conditional.
    Any responses and hints appreciated

    Hi
    I have a date field in the previous pages and when they enter date field in that form and submit, the date field value will be saved in the database. In the next page I want to check that date field and if the date field is entered in the previous page then only the button on my page should show up.
    It's like if the date field in the database table is null ( if they donot enter in the previous page ) then in the next page my button should not be seen.
    Thanks you for your response.

  • Enabling/disabling buttons problem

    Hello,
    I'm using jdev 10.1.3.3.0 and I want to enable/disable buttons based on the value in a tableSelectOne. I wrote a function isNextButtonEnabled() in my backing bean and I have set the disabled option of the nextButton (=CoreCommandButton) to #{!backing_bean.nextButtonEnabled}. Then I putted the autoSubmit option of the TableSelectOne to true and made a partialTrigger on the nextButton to the TableSelectOne. In the print statements everything is fine, but it is never displayed.
    Does anyone know what to do about this.

    Well,
    the nextButton is in a cellFormat which on itself is in a HtmlRowLayout. I putted partial triggers on the cellformat, the rowLayout and the panelPage to the TableSelectOne, but this doesn't do the trick neither. Strange.

  • Calling report from a button based on parameters

    Hi,
    I want to call a report from a custom button based on some parameters. Suppose
    I have a form based on dept table and I have created a custom button which
    should take the value of the selected deptno and pass as a parameter to the
    report to get all the info from the emp table against that deptno.
    Thanks

    Report:
    You need to create a SQL report with a bind variable. Then you can take a look at the call interface from the "Manage" Screen of your report to find out how to pass parameters to it.
    Form:
    To get the required value from the form, make use of p_session in the Custom PL/SQL handler code, then form the URL of the report and call it using <portal_schema>.wwa_app_module.set_target. Take a look at this post: Problems installing 9iAS 9.0.3

    you need to set the autosubmit property for the text field to true. and set the partial trigger for the the button to that input text id.
    and set the rendered property for the button based on the input text value.

  • How to realize Checkbox and Radio Buttons based on Attributes in JHeadstart

    Hy@ all,
    I try to redevelop the Summit Forms Demo in ADF.
    The module "ORDER" contains, among other things, a checkbox and radio buttons based on database columns(VARCHAR2).
    The column(checkbox) named PAYMENT_TYPE contains the values CASH and CREDIT and the column(radio button) called ORDER_FILLED contains the values Y and N.
    After creating the business components, I set in JHeadstarts Application Definition the Display Type of these two attributes to checkBox and radio-horizontal.
    I created a dymanic domain for the radio-horizontal and a static domain for the checkBox.
    The radio-horizontal within the dymanic domain works nearly correct.
    I set the Data Collection in this dynamic domain to the required Group and the Value and Meaning Attribute to the necessary Attribute.
    Within the JSF- Page the values are shown right but unfortunately there are too many radio buttons available. Instead of displaying the two radio buttons CASH and CREDIT were many CASH and CREDIT radio buttons shown.
    I can´t find any solution for this case.
    The problem with the checkBox is that therfore a static domain is required but I want to show the value of the checkBox based on the described attribute, like the handling of the radio horizontal.
    But I don´t know how to implement this, if it is possible.
    I´m using JHeadstart v10.1.3.2 and I´m pleased about any reply or solution.
    Best regards
    Chris

    Chris,
    If you run the application module tester, and query the view object usage underlying your dynamic domain, how many rows does it return? It should return only two rows, one for CASH and one for CREDIT. If more than two rows are returned, your query is wrong.
    What is the problem with using a static domain for the checkbox?

    JHeadstart Team.

  • B1iF 1.5 SQL Call problem with result transformation

    Hi all,
    i've made a scenario that reads a text file, and for each line, mak an sql call to find corresponding CardCode.
    Everything is ok until i want to transform the result of the SQL Call.
    Here is the result message
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <Msg xmlns="urn:com.sap.b1i.vplatform:entity">
      <Body>
        <Payload Role="C" id="atom5_1" system="0010000102" mode="single" method="Automatic detection by key word(Automatic detection by key word)" sql="SELECT CardCode,52657 as CodeTiers FROM OCRD WHERE U_CRL_CODE_DEN=52657" disable-output-escaping="false">
          <ResultSet xmlns="urn:com.sap.b1i.adapter:jdbcadapter" rowCount="0"/>
        </Payload>
        <Payload Role="C" id="atom5_2" system="0010000102" mode="single" method="Automatic detection by key word(Automatic detection by key word)" sql="SELECT convert(varchar,(Max(Convert(int,substring(CardCode,2,len(CardCode)-1))) + 1),20) as NewCardCode FROM OCRD WHERE Left(CardCode,1)= 'F' AND ISNUMERIC(substring(CardCode,2,len(CardCode)-1))=1" disable-output-escaping="false">
          <ResultSet xmlns="urn:com.sap.b1i.adapter:jdbcadapter" rowCount="1">
            <Row>
              <NewCardCode>3</NewCardCode>
            </Row>
          </ResultSet>
        </Payload>
      </Body>
    </Msg>
    When i apply the following XPath expression :
    //Msg/Body/Payload[@id='atom5_2']/jResultSet/Row/NewCardCode
    It gives nothing. So i've tried with XML Copy Editor, i've changed xmlns="urn:com.sap.b1i.adapter:jdbcadapter" to xmlns:jdbc="urn:com.sap.b1i.adapter:jdbcadapter" and it works.
    It seems that the namespace is incorrect at the ResultSet level.
    So, here is my question : Why the SQL Call doesn't give the expected output ? How to correct it ?
    Thanks in advance !

    Well, i found a way to do it using local-name() function. it gives the following :
    <xsl:value-of select="$msg5_2[$Pos1]/*[local-name()='ResultSet']/*[local-name()='Row']/*[local-name()='NewCardCode']"></xsl:value-of>
    The job is done, but this not easy to read.

  • Display as text based on pl/sql - how to return value

    Hi,
    I have a item set as "display as text based on pl/sql". How do I get the PL/SQL anonymous block to return the value of the item?
    My function declares and populates a variable called t_output which is the value I want displayed in the item. The PL/SQL I have written is correct as I have tried it in SQLPlus* with DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE and I get the correct output, but I don't know how to set my item to the value of t_output. I have tried adding ":P73_ITEM := t_output;" into the end of the PL/SQL block.
    Thanks
    Lucy

    Hi Lucy,
    Try this and see.
    make the display as:display as text(saves state)
    source type: sql query
    in source value or expression type
    select func(arguments) from table name;
    Good luck

        // End of variables declaration
    }

    Very courius.
    I have made a little change in your code.
    1) scenario
    Simply changing .setEnabled(false) invokation, the class works fine.
    so
    jButton2.setEnabled(false);
    jButton3.setEnabled(false);
    jButton1.setEnabled(false);
    2) scenario
    the class works fine also using your .setEnabled(false) order invokations and putting after those:
    FocusManager.getCurrentManager().focusNextComponent();
    I do not know exactly why, I suppose that is there something not properly
    syncronized in events dispaching.
    In my opinion:
    a) setEnabled(false) at last calls for setEnabled(false) of JComponent
    that fires a propertyChange event
    so:
    scenario 1)
    buttons 2 and 3 are disabled before of button1 that has the focus in
    that moment (given by a the mouse click on itself)
    When botton1.setEnabled(false) is performed buttons 2 and 3 are
    just disabled, so focus is got by button4 (that is enabled)
    scenario 2)
    button1 that has the focus (given it by the mouse click) becames
    disabled before that button2 becames disabled too.
    So, probably, when the event of PropertyChanged is fired and processed, button2.setEnabled(false) invokation has not been
    just performed and swings looks for it as a focusable component
    So, using FocusManager.getCurrentManager().focusNextComponent(),
    we force the transer focus on next focusable component.
    This is only a my suppose, looking what happens.
    Regards.

  • Conditionally display button based on number of rows in rpt query results?

    I know that I can conditionally display a button based on the number of rows returned in a query entered in the condition. However, I have a report region button that I only want to display if any data was returned by a report query. Since I've already executed the query to generate the report, I do not want to execute it again to determine whether any rows were returned. Is there any way to detect whether any rows were returned for a report other than to reissue the query?

    http://htmldb.oracle.com/pls/otn/f?p=24317:52
    OK, so it looks like it contains the rowcount of the report region rendered just before the variable (apex_application.g_flow_total_row_count) is referenced.
    Sort of like how SQL%ROWCOUNT contains the no. of records affected by the last SQL DML statement.
    Note that the pagination scheme affects the result. In the example above, the 2nd report region is showing 10 rows with a 'Rows X to Y' pagination scheme. So g_flow_total_row_count=11 because I guess the reporting engine has to fetch the 11th row (and discard it) to determine whether to render the 'Next' pagination link.
    If you select a pagination scheme that forces the reporting engine to fetch all the rows 'Rows X to Y of Z', g_flow_total_row_count will always be Z, not the number of rows actually rendered on the screen.
    Thanks

        Result: All events were generated even though the button was greyed out
    2)  in the event case of the button (value changed) in a sequence I disbaled the Button and then started a second event. The Second event executed the code and then enabled the Button egain
       Result: Even though the Button was greyed out events were generated
    3) in the event case of the button (value changed) in a sequence I first dispalbned the button, execuded the code and in the timeout event I thenenabled it again
       Result: No additional events were generated
    it seems that the enable state of the button is analysed at teh time when the event is execute din teh event case but not at the time when it was created?
    So I Tried the Time Input of the case expecting that it woudl give me a time stamp of the time when the key was pressed - but instead it gave me the time point when teh event was executed...
    Teh only othe rsolution was to set teh cursor to busy (however I dont want to see the changed cursor during the busy cycle)
    So how can I make shure that no additional events are fired during the time teh code of the Button s executed?
    Thanks for any help,
    Rainer

    to altenbach:
    The evet takes about one or two seconds - I checked the behaviour as shown in the attached examples with LV 8.5, LV 2010, TV2011, LV2012 - allways exactly the same behaviour.
    It does not make any difference weather you use switch when pressed or latched when pressed.
    It does not make any difference weathe ror not you tag "Lock front panel" for that event
    to sth:
    > If you disable a front panel control (ie the button) you cannot click on it and a value changed event will not be
    generated.
    This is my experience so far as well, but if you disable and enable the control within the same event it does not work (see attaced example 1) and 2). It only works if you do the enable in the timeout event.
    > The time stamp from the event case left hand property is the time of the event not the time of execution.
    > If you ask for the timer value inside the event case it will be the time of event case executing.
    In the attached exampel this is not the case. The time differecne between the Time input on the left and the Tick count
    placed in the event is 0 for all events generated whil the button is supposed to be disabled.
    As I wrote before, the explanation I have for this behaviour is that the events are generated by windows weather or not
    the button is disabled and they are queued to the event cue. Only when the event is handeled LabVIEW tests weather
    or not the button is disabled and ignores the event in case it is disabled. If the Disabling and enabling is done
    withim the same event the button pressed events are added to thw event queue and the button is set to enabled before the  next event (button pressed while it shoul be disabled) is handeled. When that event is handeled the button is enabled again (by the original event) and therefore the evenet is not ignored (because by the time of execution of the event the button is enabled again).
    If the button is enabled in the timeout event instead of the button change value event all event in teh queue are executed before teh timeout event. At their time of execution therefore the button is steill disabled. Only then the timeout event enables the button again.
    If the vi is set to busy (sand clock) this is activating actually a windows function/property and no events are queued to teh event queue by windwos. Therefore no button change event is added to teh queue.
    Funtciomn of the 3 attached Vis (LV 2010):
    Run the Vi, then press the Test button once - when it is greyed out click it a few more times. The test button value
    changed event has a 2 second delay. You will see the event counter increase, and you will see the time difference
    between the time property on the left of the event and the tick count vi whci is displayed in the waveform chart.
    DisableButton 1: Disable and enable are ste in teh same event
    DisableButton 2: The button is disabled then a second event is called to do the work and then enable teh button again
    DisableButton 3: The Button is disabled in button change value event and it is enabled again in teh timeout event.
