Disable iView "Skills Profile" under "Career and Job"
I would like to disable the Skills Profile iview under "Career and Job" in ESS since we will not be using this functionality. How can I accomplish this? We would like the entire section:
Skills
Skills Profile
View the skills catalog and create or change your own skills profile.
to disappear.
Shafi,
For remove both title and link (i assume you've the standard customizing):
1) Again, i suggest you make a copy of this Subarea to Area assignation:
EMPLOYEE_CAREER_ERP2005 EMPLOYEE_CAREER_SUBSKILLS_2005 1
from
Go to (SPRO > Personnel Management > Employee Self-Service > General Settings > Homepage for Self-Services > Subareas > Assign Subareas to Areas) > Assign Subareas to Areas (Find Entries)
to
Go to (...) > Assign Subareas to Areas (Add and Change Entries)
2) Change the "1" for " " in the new entry and save the changes

prerequisite:
You have made the settings required for this service in the following activity in the Implementation Guide for Personnel Management: Employee Self-Service ® Service-Specific Settings ® Career and Job ® Skills.

Make Settings for Skills Profile Service
Use
In this Customizing activity, you can make the settings for the Employee Self-Service (ESS) Skills Profile. You can use the switches available to make the following settings:
Switches QUALI DEST1 and QUALI DEST2 allow you to set up the system ID required for the RFC connection for ESS. In QUALI DEST1, you must enter the first characters of the system ID (maximum of 10 characters). If the system ID exceeds 10 characters, you can enter the remaining characters in QUALI DEST2. In each of the two switches you can enter a maximum of 10 characters. That is, you can enter a system ID that is composed of a maximum of 20 characters.
Switch QUALI FORM enables you to set up the SAPscript form required to print the skills profile in ESS. A standard form is already set up in the standard delivery (see below).
Switch QUALI REQPR enables you to set up which skills proficiencies, required by the position, are to be displayed in the employee's skillsprofile.
Switch QUALI TRURL enables you to set up whether a suitable training proposal should be displayed in the ESS Skills Profile for missing or insufficient skills and licenses.
Standard settings
The following switch settings are delivered as standard:
QUALI DEST1: - (no value)

How to disable options in ESS-Career and job-Skilla profile
Hi All,
In ESS-Career and Job-Skill profile, there are three are three buttons 1.EDIT SKILL,2.ADD NEW SKILL,3.DELETE SKILL.
I want to disable those options in Skills profile. Can some body please help me in solving this.
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Thirun. These three buttons are not configurable. You could easily modify them using NWDI and NetWeaver Developer Studio.
This is pretty much your only option to customize this iview.
If you have ESS in a track in NWDI, the Skills Web Dynpro project is under --> ess~skl. Create a project from here and open up the "Ovewview" View from the VcSklOverview Component.
From there, you just need to set the buttons to "Not Visibile"

Problem in career and job iview
Hi all,
We have installed ESS 60.1 on our EP(ep6 sp11) and was later upgraded to EP6 SP16. The backend used is ECC5.0 IDES. Almost all the iViews work fine. But there is a problem with the Career and Job iView.
When the 'Apply directly' or the other option in Career & Job is clicked, it throws an object not found exception. The Patch applied on the backend is ERECRUIT 300: Add-On Installation.
Please let me know what the problem could be and the possible solution for this.
Regards,
Prathamesh.HI prathmesh,
After installing SAP e-Recruiting 3.00 with Support Package 1, or higher, for career and job workset related applications to work, have you made the following settings in the Implementation Guide (IMG):
1.Choose the following IMG path: Cross-Application Components ? Homepage Framework ? Resources ? Define Server for Resources. Enter the server name and the port of your e-Recruiting system.
2.Assign the server to all e-recruiting resources and add the URL parameters stored. To do so, choose the following IMG path: Cross-Application Components ? Homepage Framework ? Resources ? Define Resources.
Enter the e-recruiting server for the following resources. Add the relevant URL parameters by replacing in the BSP client the 000 client with the client of your e-recruiting system.

ESS - Career and Job - Career Profile: Page not found
Hello,
we are facing a problem. When I try to open the Service "Career profile" in subarea "Career" of area "Career and Job" we are getting the error "Page not found or not available". The default-log of the java server lists the following error:
#1#javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: Object not found: com.sap.pct.erp.ess.employee_self_service/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.area_career_job/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.career_service at portal_content/com.sap.pct/every_user/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.bp_folder/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.roles/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.employee_self_service/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.employee_self_service/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.area_career_job. Root exception is javax.naming.NamingException: Object not found: com.sap.pct.erp.ess.employee_self_service/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.area_career_job/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.career_service at portal_content/com.sap.pct/every_user/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.bp_folder/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.roles/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.employee_self_service/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.employee_self_service/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.area_career_job
I tried to find out, what item in the IMG has to be changed to solve the problem but I cannot identify a service or a resource where the path com.sap.pct.erp.ess.employee_self_service/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.area_career_job/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.career_service at portal_content/com.sap.pct/every_user/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.bp_folder/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.roles/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.employee_self_service/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.employee_self_service/com.sap.pct.erp.ess.area_career_job is listed.
Can anyone give helpful hints?
Thanks in advance,
André
Edited by: Andre Siegling on Jun 14, 2010 4:40 PMHi,
The Resource you need to change is EMPLOYEE_CAREER_PAG and the URL location should be as below:
ROLES://portal_content/com.sap.pct/every_user/com.sap.pct.ess.employee/com.sap.pct.ess.roles/com.sap.pct.ess.employee_self_service/com.sap.pct.ess.employee_self_service/com.sap.pct.ess.area_career_job/com.sap.pct.ess.area_career_job
This should solve the issue.

i have gone thru many sdn forum but they say that we need to Configure E-Recruitment for r3
Do we need any settings in R3 side.
i have gone thru help.sap also.

Thanks,
Vijaithese services in ESS correspond to E-recruitment in backend ECC.
Make sure, you are using E-rec 600 component in ECC backend and it is configured properly. Check System -> Status -> Installed Components.
Try to start configuring the things in backend with your HR Consultant and as per as your business requirements.
Is your E-recruitment is on the same server of your ERP system ? If yes, then check this [documentation
|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005/helpdata/en/45/8150635e9c40c1e10000000a1553f7/frameset.htm]
Also, check this [documentation|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp60_sp/helpdata/en/72/c9b54015c4752ae10000000a155106/frameset.htm] for Configuration of E-rec in the backend.
Do check the tcode - slg1 application log in ECC backend for your errors in ESS.

Hi Guys,
I have a problem in ESS role, I am having SP12 portal with ESS SP8,ADS SP10 and WebDynpro 6.4. In Ess role there is a workset called "career and job" when I try to open "Candidate Profile" under this workset I get an error regarding
com.sap.portal.appintegrator.sap.WebDynpro::WebDynpro/TopLayer

System : SAP_WebDynpro_XSS

Can any one tell me how can I solve this error? Thanks in advance
Regards
Yasir NomanThe alias SAP_WebDynpro_XSS is the alias on the portal for a myERP2004 system.
If you search for the Installationguide for MySAP ERP 2004 Java components,
you will see that this includes a XSS component 5.0 and contains amongst others ESS and MSS.
This needs to be configured as well.
The other alias above mentioned need to be created on the myERP2004 system using this URL (Webdynpro Admin):
