Disable resize image in jsp

hi all...
i fetch my image from a db, but the image can be all sizes, now when i show it it resizes my picture....
I want to be able to say that it can only resize the width, and not the height otherwize you get really ugly pictures...
i use a servlet to fetch the binary stream and return that.
this is set in the <img src='/servlets/GetPicture' width='200' height='150'>
if i don't do that the picture can be all sizes and i don't want that...
anybody an idea?
greetings, and thanks

I don't understand. It seems to me like you've already got the solution right there in your image tag.
if i don't do that the picture can be all sizes Then ... do that ... ??

  • How to resize image in JSP using JAI ??!!

    Please help me how to resize an JPEG image from my JSP, could I use JAI lib ? how ?

    Hello,
    I had the same problem few months ago ( in that case i used Jimi instead of JAI).
    The answer to your question is: use the java class called "Image".
    Infact you can use JAI just for load or save to disk your image that you have to resize and then use the following code to resize the image :
    Image imgResized = img.getScaledInstance(100,1,Image.SCALE_AREA_AVERAGING);
    The object "img" is the image to resize and the object "imgResized" is the image resized with width equals to 100 and with a right height.
    I used Jimi just to save my image and i think that with JAI there is a method to do this.
    You can use JAI to load in memory your image too so you can avoid problem with MediaTraker class.
    I hope that this can help you.
    Cheers.
    Stefano

  • Disable Resize of Image ROIs when using Selection Tool

    Using LV2011 with an image control and "selection tool", I programatically create ROIs (Regions of Interest) in the image.  The ROIs may need to be adjusted on the image but I don't want them to be able to resize them.  Is there a way to disable the user's ability to resize image Regions-of-Interest?
    Thanks.

    Christian - That's right.  When the "selector" ROI tool is used for an image, the ROI can be adjusted by resizing or translating.  I don't want users to be able to resize but they can translate, if necessary.  So in the attached picture, the cross cursor would stay available but the resizing nodes on the ROI would be gone or disabled.  Thanks for your help.  This problem is not a show-stopper but it would make the program more robust to user errors.

  • Which approach to use for resizing image

    There are two ways of resizing images as I know:
    1. image.getScaledInstance(width,height,hint);
    Using hint like Image.SCALE_AREA_AVERAGING gives somehwat satisfactory resizing.
    2. static BufferedImage resize(GraphicsConfiguration gc, BufferedImage source, int w, int h, Object hintValue) {
    BufferedImage result = gc.createCompatibleImage(w, h, source.getTransparency());
    Graphics2D g2 = result.createGraphics();
    g2.setRenderingHint(RenderingHints.KEY_INTERPOLATION, hintValue);
    double sx = (double) w / source.getWidth(), sy = (double) h / source.getHeight();
    g2.drawRenderedImage(source, AffineTransform.getScaleInstance(sx, sy));
    g2.dispose();
    return result;
    where the hint passed is RenderingHints.VALUE_INTERPOLATION_BILINEAR ;
    Now which of the two method method should I use-using image.getScaledInstance() or using AffineTranform ? opr is there any other way which is faster but provides good result?
    i am creating an image editor, so the GUI dialog will have oprtion to choose the algorithm. I want the method which provides better result yet faster.

  • 'Auto resize image' 'Settings' dialog box controls

    I have a signature that contains an avatar image (size 120px by 120px)
    Every time I 'Send' an 'Auto Resize Image' > 'Settings' dialogue box pops up
    How can I bypass this as its becoming annoying.
    Most emails (98%) do not contain any other embedded or attached images.
    This only started to happen after upgrading to latest version of Thunderbird, was never an issue before.

    Doesn't sound like a standard Thunderbird pop up as I've not come across it.
    Do you by any chance have an addon /extension such as Auto Resize Image?
    * https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/auto-resize-image/
    if yes, disable it and retest to see if message stops.
    Check you are using an up to date version.
    check to see if there is some settings you can use to 'not ask again' or similar. Can't say exactly as I do not use it.
    I use the standard TB settings to adjust for sizing when I originally insert an image.

  • Safari resizing images, again...

    Some years back, around 2007, I started a thread about Safari automatically resizing images that are larger than the window. That "feature" magically appeared with one Safari update, and quickly disappeared with another update. Well, it's now July 2011 and a new Safari update Version 5.1 (6534.50) has brought this annoying feature back.
    I'm sure there is no way to disable it. I have looked through the preferences, developer and debug options. Why can't Apple make up their minds or at least give us the option to turn this thing on or off!!!!
    Check to see if Safari is resizing with this image: http://img51.imageshack.us/img51/9117/g9img0272sj.jpg
    If it fits within the window and your cursor shows a zoom icon with a plus Safari is resizing. Those of you with high resolution screens may not experience resizing as most images will fit within your window.
    You can also tell if Safari is resizing images by grabbing the bottom right window resize handle and resizing Safari. You'll notice the image will change size to fit within the window. See this pic for an example: http://img585.imageshack.us/img585/3074/screenshot20110722.jpg
    Mark
    This is under 10.6.8 Snow Leopard, not 10.7 Lion, although I would expect the same behavior with both.

    Firefox will auto resize images, but not text files.
    Safari will auto resize text files, but not images.
    I'd love to turn auto resize for images on and off in Safari.
    Does anyone know how to do this, with a style sheet perhaps?

  • How do I resize image?

    How do I resize image from 720 to 1080 in after effects?

    Have you tried using the Scale property? Click the arrow to the left of a layer's name to expand its properties. Alternatively you can click on the layer in the timeline and press the "s" key to expand the Scale property for that layer. By default, scaling retains the original proportions; if you wish to disable this and scale something out or proportion then uncheck the little "constrain proportions" icon in the Scale property.
    An even easier way is to simply click on a layer in the composition view and drag the small boxes at the edges of the layer.

  • Output byte[] (image) to JSP page from Servlet - not working - why??

    I'm testing some new code in my servlet. I'm changing the method I use for pulling an image from the db (which is stored in a Blob column) and then displaying it in a Jsp page via <img src="go.callServlet">
    The new way works up until the code that outputs the image (bytes).
    Here's a snippet of the code -
                   rs = stmt.executeQuery("Select image from images");
                   rs.next();
                   Blob blobimage = rs.getBlob(1);
                   int index = 0;
                in = blobimage.getBinaryStream();
                BufferedImage orig = ImageIO.read(in);
                //resize image
                GraphicsConfiguration gc = getDefaultConfiguration(); //calls method in servlet
                 BufferedImage image = toCompatibleImage(orig, gc); //calls method in servlet
                 final double SCALE = (double)max_Width_Large/(double)image.getWidth(null);
                 int w = (int) (SCALE * image.getWidth(null));
                 int h = (int) (SCALE * image.getHeight(null));
                 final BufferedImage resize = getScaledInstance(image, w, h, gc);
                   //convert bufferedimage to byte array
                   ByteArrayOutputStream bytestream = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
                  // W R I T E
                  ImageIO.write(resize,"jpeg",bytestream);
                  byte[] bytearray = bytestream.toByteArray();
                  bytestream.flush();
                  res.reset();
                   res.setContentType("image/jpeg");
                   while((index=in.read(bytearray))!= -1 ) {
                             res.getOutputStream().write(bytearray,0,index);
                   res.flushBuffer();
                   in.close();
                   //....               I know for a fact that the process of getting the image as a blob, making a BufferedImage from it, having the BufferedImage resized, and then converted into a byte[] array, works! I tested by putting the result into a db table.
    I just don't understand why it is that as soon as it gets to the code where it should output the image, it doesn't work. Its frustrating:(
    Here's the code I use regularly to output the image to the jsp, works all the time. The reason I've changed the method, is because I wanted to resize the image before displaying it, and keep it to scale without losing too much quality.
    rs = stmt.executeQuery("Select image from testimages");
                   rs.next();
                   Blob blobimage = rs.getBlob(1);
                   int index = 0;
                in = blobimage.getBinaryStream();
                  int blob_length = (int)blobimage.length();
                  byte[] bytearray = new byte[blob_length];
                  res.reset();
                  res.setContentType("image/jpeg");
                   while((index=in.read(bytearray))!= -1 ) {
                             res.getOutputStream().write(bytearray,0,index);
                   res.flushBuffer();
                   in.close();
    //...Can someone shed some light on this trouble I'm having?
    Much appreciated.

    I hate to bother you again BalusC, but I have another question, and value your expertise.
    With regards to using the BufferedInput and Output Streams - I made the change to my code that is used for uploading an image to the db, and I hope I coded it right.
    Can you please take a look at the snippet below and see if I used the BufferedOutputStream efficiently?
    The changes I made are where I commented /*Line 55*/ and /*Line 58*/.

  • Problem with displaying BLOB images on JSP page using a servlet

    hi. I have a big problem with displaying BLOB images using JSP. I have a servlet that connects to the oracle database, gets a BLOB image , reads it, and then displays it using a BinaryStream. The problem is , this works only when i directly call that servlet, that is http://localhost:8080/ImageServlet. It doesn't work when i try to use that servlet to display my image on my JSP page (my JSP page displays only a broken-image icon ) I tried several coding approaches with my servlet (used both Blob and BLOB objects), and they work just fine as long as i display images explicitly using only the servlet.
    Here's what i use : ORACLE 10g XE , Eclipse 3.1.2, Tomcat 5.5.16 , JDK 1.5
    here is one of my image servlet's working versions (the essential part of it) :
                   BLOB blob=null;
              rset=st.executeQuery("SELECT * FROM IMAGES WHERE ID=1");
              while (rset.next())
                   blob=((OracleResultSet)rset).getBLOB(2);
              response.reset();
              response.setContentType("image/jpeg");
              response.addHeader("Content-Disposition","filename=42.jpeg");
                    ServletOutputStream ostr=response.getOutputStream();
                   InputStream istr=blob.getBinaryStream(1L);
                    int size=blob.getBufferSize();
              int len=-1;
                    byte[] buff = new byte[size];
                         while ((len=istr.read( buff ))!=-1 ) {
                   ostr.write(buff,0,len);
             response.flushBuffer();
             ostr.close(); and my JSP page code :
    <img src="/ImageServlet" border="0"  > If you could just tell me what i'm doing wrong here , or if you could show me your own solutions to that problem , i would be very greatful ,cos i'm realy stuck here , and i'm rather pressed for time too. Hope someone can help.

    I turns out that it wasn't that big of a problem after all. All i had to do was to take the above code and place it into another JSP page instead of into a servlet like i did before. Then i just used that page as a source for my IMG tag in my first JSP. It works perfectly well. Why this doesn't work for servlets i still don't know, but it's not a problem form me anymore . Ofcourse if someone knows the answer , go ahead and write. I would still appriceatte it.
    here's the magic tag : <img src="ImageJSP.jsp" border="0"  > enjoy : )

  • Display image in JSP Portlet

    I create a JSP portlet. But The portlet can't display image(gif file, jpg file). I have modified the provider.xml and the following line is added:
    <imageURL>URL_Path</imageURL>
    But, the image still cannot be displayed.
    How can I display image in JSP portlet?

    Leo Cheung,
    You could try the following :
    1. Add a virtual directory path Alias 'imgf' in the Apache configuration file httpd.conf to load the image file. Add the following line under the alias section :
    Alias /imgf/ "<your directory>\images/"
    2. Place your gif/jpg files (eg., work.gif) in the images directory.
    3. Use the IMG tag of HTML :
    <IMG src="/imgf/work.gif" border=0 width=80 height=80> in the JSP file at the location where you need to display the image.
    Hope this helps

  • Need help on quality of resized image!!

    I am required to resize images to max 1240pixel (longest dimension) as a submission of work, though when work is viewed it will be at 30"x40".  Can not figure out a way to do this where images don't become quite pixelated when viewed at larger size.   Appreciate any suggestions.

    Is there some software to verify if my graphics card is shotty?
    Techtool Pro has some testing, the AHT tests VRAM, but game benchmarks and stressing will tell you the most.
    Is re-seating the graphics card or memory worth trying?
    Absolutely. Just don't reinstall the graphics card until you clean it thoroughly.
    Cleaning the dust out of my machine?
    YES. A dust filled graphics card heatsink will cause the GPU to cook, and cause problems thet you describe.
    If I need a new graphics card, what are my options? Do I have to purchase it via Apple store? I would like to stick with an Nvidia card so am I stuck buying the same card I currently have or can I upgrade?
    You don't have to buy from Apple, but using with OS X limits your choices to Mac compatible or flashable PC versions.

    I need some help resizing my images on PS6. I am using a mac and have been trying to resize with same resolution and constaining proportions but for some reaseon the smaller resized image appears pizelated. Heres an image of before and after. The first image I use is a JPG 72dpi 1500px x1500px and I want to downsize it to 600x600px same res, but it keeps pixelating, this has never happened before. Any suggestions, thoughts?
    thanks!

    I wouldn't say pixelated; more like blurry.
    Like ConnectedCreative said, what steps are you using? Are you using "bicubic sharper" when resizing down?

  • Upload and Resize Image not inserting filename in database

    I have a form that I created using the insert record form wizard. One of the fields is a file field and my form enctype is set to multipart/form-data. I then used the upload and resize image behavior and set the parameters. When testing the form the file uploads to the correct directory but no entry is made into the database for that particular field. The other fields are entered into the database just fine. If the reason is about memory, warning message should be happened when upload the image, because "show thumbnail" means resize at second time, how come you failed to resize the picture that system let it upload succeed at the first time by the same resize process?
    upload procedure
    a.jpg: 2722x1814, 1.2mb
    upload condition: fixed width 330px, 1.5mb
    "upload and resize" a.jpg -> file upload -> "resize engine" -> passed (but not work and no warning message)
    "show thumbnail" a.jpg -> "resize engine" -> failed (not enough memory)
    it doesn't make sense.
    and you miss an important key point, I upload the same picture myself, and resize work, so I said it happened at random, and that's why I am so worried.
