Disable showjobs in 9iAS R2

How do I disable showenv, showjobs, showmap, showmyjobs, showjobid, killjobid, parsequery, showauth, delauth, getjobid, and getserverinfo in Reports 9i? In version 9iAS R1 (1.0.2.2), you simply set REPORTS60_CGINODIAG in the registry and they are turned off.
BTW, I am not using Portal nor SSO. I have issued the command "dcmctl leaveFarm" as I don't need the Infrastructure for this installation.

I removed the identifier tag and rebooted the server.
I then tried to access this url:
http://fred/reports/rwservlet/getserverinfo?server=rep_fred+auth_id=jon/cool
The rep_fred.ora file gets updated and the identifier tag is set to:
<identifier confidential="yes" encrypted="yes">ZzRlC0ywbw==</identifier>
I opened a new web browser and tried this:
http://fred.humana.com/reports/rwservlet/getserverinfo?server=rep_fred
This returned the xml without any error.
My installation of 9iAS R2 is as follows:
1. Install infrastructure (on separate machine).
2. Patch infrastructure with latest patch.
3. Install 9iAS with Forms and Reports only.
4. Bug with installing Reports so I manually added the reports service (rwserver -install rep_fred).
5. Edit reports service to run as Oracle local admin account and not to interact with desktop.
6. Edited rep_fred.conf file and commented out security section.
7. Edited rwservlet.properties file and changed SINGLESIGNON=NO and set DIAGNOSTIC=NO.
8. Tested reports and all is working correctly.
9. Left the farm (dcmctl leaveFarm).
10. Edited the jazn.xml file.
11. Rebooted and the installed latest patch on app server.
12. Had to kill some sqlplus.exe sessions during patch as it was trying to connect to the infrastructure still. (portal and wireless)
13. Grep for 7777 and 4443 in all files. Replace with 80 and 443.
14. Restart and test reports. Everything working just fine. Forms and Reports run just fine. Added DAD configuration for site (Mod PL/SQL). It too is working.
This is when I started trying to secure the Report Server and I am unable to do so.
See anything in my installation process that might have contributed to this?

    Carey

    Yes, you are right. By default, Apache JServ is disabled in ORacle 9iAS Release 2 installation. but since you uncommented the two lines, now jserv is active and will try to serve all JSP request intead of the defualt OC4J. Comment the two line again. (please use the EM to do this and do not comment the lines using a text editor.)
    You may require to restart.

  • Disabling pdf Compression in Oracle 9iAS Reports

    I need to disable Oracle 9iAS Reports pdf compression which is
    automatically turned on while running a report. I need to
    disable the pdf compression for some internal benchmarking . I
    read that it can be turned off or varied with command line
    options. Any idea how it can be done.
    Also any further info on Reports pdf compression or docs will be
    helpful.
    Thanks in advance,
    R. Adarsh

    There is no PDF compression with Reports 6.0.8 and iAS 1.0.2
    This is a new feature of the upcoming product release iAS V2
    Reports 9i which will use PDF 1.4

  • How to disable Oracle Reports showjobs listing?

    Hello all,
    I need to disable the report server showjob listing of executed reports, with OAS 10.1.2.
    With OAS 9.0.4 I could specify maxqueuesize parameter at 0, so no report would be listed in showjobs page.
    In OAS 10.1.2 the minimum value is 1, so the last report executed is still listed.
    Thank you.
    Bye,
    Andrea

    I found a solution, by setting DIAGNOSTICS=NO in rwservlet.properties file.
    Thank you.
    Bye,

  • 9ias rel-1 reports showjobs - Netscape

    We are running 9iAS rel 1 10222 Patch 10 and are serving up reports via servlet. The problem is when you goto the shojobs webpage via servlet, Netscape cannot correctly display the page but IE can. The problem is that there is a line like "Expires: Fri, 02 Nov 1964 00:00:00 GMT" displayed before the first <html> tag in which Netscape does not like. IE is a little more forgiving and will ignore it and continue on. This problem does NOT happen if you access the showjobs via CGI instead of a servlet. Problem is, I really need the servlet piece to work as a requirement of the company and I need to use Netscape because the OS/Clients are using is linux.
    Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?
    Charles

    The Expires tag is written in the begining of html page. This looks to be a method so that browser do not take the page from the cache if the same request is send again. This tag is written both in case of RWCGI as well as in RWServlet but some how servlet is unable to recognize the tag and this gets reflected in the html page.
    There is a bug1959792 filed on same issue and is published alos. You can check the status of bug from metalink site.

  • Oracle 9iAS Admin Password Getting disabled

    Dear All,
    Whenever i change the setting such as system name, IP address of a system which has been working fine for Oracle 9iAS the password is also getting reset to something unknown. If any one of you have a solution for this please let me know.
    Vivek

    I think my enquiry is not understood.
    Let me put my question in a different way.
    Whenever i am changing the ip address of the server running 9iAS Entriprise i am not able to login to the Enterprise Manager. I am not sure wether the password needs to be reset or the login is getting disables.
    does 9iAS reserves the old ip address in its software ??
    I am running this application on Windows 2000 with SP3 & SP4.
    Secondly how can i reset this password.

  • Problem with 9iAS and Day Communiquh 3

    Hi,
    i have a problem with the deployment of Day Communiquh 3 web application (a tool for content management) on Oracle 9iAS (not on the OC4J stand-alone..).
    As explained on Day guide, i've disabled the following services in the delivery.xml of publish/system/conf directory (the file is put in attachment for a better comprehension):
    - ServletEngineService;
    - ShoutService.
    Moreover, i've updated the following tags:
    - fakeurls, with <redirect from="/" to="/cq3/playground/en.html" />;
    - loopback, with the port i use (7778).
    Then i have packed up the CQ3 webapp in a WAR file (cq3-web.war): i give you in attachment the WEB-INF/web.xml used.
    Finally i have packed up the WAR file in a EAR file, using the Enterprise Manager of 9iAS: i've put "cq3" as name of the deployed application, and "/cq3" as context root, so that users can access the application typing in a browser "http://<server_address>:<port>/cq3".
    Then i've found the following problems:
    - firstly, "http://<server_address>:<port>/cq3" doesn't redirect to "http://<server_address>:<port>/cq3/playground/en.html" as specified in delivery.xml: a "404 not found" error raises; so i have to type "http://<server_address>:<port>/cq3/playground/en.html" manually to view the Communiquh Playground;
    - anyway, the Communiquh Playground isn't shown correctly: every link and every image refers to an address like, for example, "http://<server_address>:<port>/playground/en/my_image.gif", i.e. without the "/cq3" context root in front of "/playground..".
    Anyone that could help me to resolve this issue is welcome. Please answer to [email protected]

  • How to install 9ias on Linux quick guide

    I have installed the linux version of application server a couple of times now. I have noted all the steps I took to complete the installation. Everything works except for reports. Anyway here are the steps I took to get it working. Hope it helps. Note: This is for RedHat Advanced Server 2.1, I have created a user called oracle9 to own the software. Please feel free to add comments etc.
    1. Install RedHat Linux Advanced Server 2.1 - install all the packages.
    2. Edit files in the following directory to allow connectivity, must be as ROOT user.
    /etc/xinetd.d
    3. Edit the directory permissions for /usr/local and /usr/local/src as ROOT user.
    This is we can install files and utilities in these directories. Also create an oracle directory to
    store the software. I created /usr/local/oracle/orahome1.
    chmod 777 /usr/local
    chmod 777 /usr/local/src
    chmod 777 /usr/local/oracle
    chmod 777 /usr/local/oracle/orahome1
    4. Add /usr/sbin to the PATH environment variable so that most commands are accessible.
    To do this edit the /etc/profile file.
    Add the following line
    PATH="/usr/bin:$PATH:/usr/X11R6/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin"
    5. Check kernel and glibc versions by running uname. ie
    Kernel check is uname -r
    OR
    use rpm -q kernel
    rpm -q glibc
    The versions shoule be as follows
    kernel = 2.4.9-e.3
    glibc = 2.2.4-26
    6. System Wide Ulimit and Swap File Settings.
    Should be as follows.
    time unlimited
    file unlimited
    data 1048576
    stack 131072
    memory unlimited
    coredump 4194303
    nofiles 2048
    There are several files to enable these settings.
    First we edit the /etc/security/limits.conf file to set the required limits.
    File should look like this.
    # /etc/security/limits.conf
    #Each line describes a limit for a user in the form:
    #<domain> <type> <item> <value>
    #Where:
    #<domain> can be:
    # - an user name
    # - a group name, with @group syntax
    # - the wildcard *, for default entry
    #<type> can have the two values:
    # - "soft" for enforcing the soft limits
    # - "hard" for enforcing hard limits
    #<item> can be one of the following:
    # - core - limits the core file size (KB)
    # - data - max data size (KB)
    # - fsize - maximum filesize (KB)
    # - memlock - max locked-in-memory address space (KB)
    # - nofile - max number of open files
    # - rss - max resident set size (KB)
    # - stack - max stack size (KB)
    # - cpu - max CPU time (MIN)
    # - nproc - max number of processes
    # - as - address space limit
    # - maxlogins - max number of logins for this user
    # - priority - the priority to run user process with
    # - locks - max number of file locks the user can hold
    #<domain> <type> <item> <value>
    #* soft core 0
    #* hard rss 10000
    #@student hard nproc 20
    #@faculty soft nproc 20
    #@faculty hard nproc 50
    #ftp hard nproc 0
    #@student - maxlogins 4
    oracle9 - nofile 65536
    * - nofile 65536
    * - nproc 65536
    * - cpu unlimited
    * - fsize unlimited
    * - data 1048576
    * - stack 131072
    * - memlock unlimited
    * - core 4194303
    # End of file
    We now need to edit the /etc/sysctl.conf file to set the system wide ranges as ROOT user.
    File should look like this.
    # Disables packet forwarding
    net.ipv4.ip_forward = 0
    # Enables source route verification
    net.ipv4.conf.default.rp_filter = 1
    # Disables the magic-sysrq key
    kernel.sysrq = 0
    net.ipv4.ip_local_port_range = 1024 65000
    fs.file-max = 65536
    kernel.sem = 100 32000 100 100
    kernel.shmmax = 2147483648
    kernel.shmmni = 4096
    kernel.shmall = 2097152
    Now we need to edit the /etc/profile file to enable the settings when a user logs in.
    The file contents should be modified as follows.
    # No core files by default
    ulimit -S -c 1000000 > /dev/null 2>&1
    #Set the file handels
    #echo 65536 > /proc/sys/fs/file-max
    ulimit -n 65536 > /dev/null 2>&1
    #Set the socket range
    #echo 1024 65000 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_local_port_range
    # Set the number of processes for per user
    ulimit -u 16384 > /dev/null 2>&1
    Kernel Parameters
    Change to following directory /proc/sys/kernel and type following
    echo 250 32000 32 128 > sem
    echo 2147483648 > /proc/sys/kernel/shmmax
    echo 4096 > /proc/sys/kernel/shmmni
    echo 2097152 > /proc/sys/kernel/shmall
    7. Install the ksh package if you have not already installed it on your machine.
    Oracle Corporation recommends installing one of the following ksh packages:
    pdksh-5.2.14-13 or other compatible packages.
    RPM file is available from www.redhat.com
    as root user type
    rpm -i pdksh-5.2.14-16.i386.rpm
    8. On Linux, port number 389 is reserved in the /etc/services file.
    If you want Oracle9iAS to install using the default port number for Oracle Internet Directory,
    delete the entries in the /etc/services file.
    Note:
    You must remove all lines containing the port number 389 from
    the /etc/services file if you want to use that port number.
    Attempting to comment out lines containing 389 does not free the port
    9. Install JDK 1.3.1 for Linux.
    This is available from java.sun.com. Although it is also included with Linux IAS9I R2
    Install the JDK to /usr/local/jdk
    Add the following to the /etc/profile file, and also add to path
    CLASSPATH="/usr/local/jdk/lib"
    LD_LIBRARY_PATH="/usr/local/jdk/jre/lib/i386:/usr/local/jdk/jre/lib/i386/classic:
    /usr/local/jdk/jre/lib/i386/native_threads"
    EXPORT CLASSPATH
    EXPORT LD_LIBRARY_PATH
    10. Add the following groups as ROOT user
    oinstall, dba
    groupadd oinstall
    groupadd dba
    11. Add oracle user to groups oinstall and dba as ROOT user
    usermod -g oinstall -G dba,oracle9 oracle9
    12. Apply a patch for binutils rpm:
    I had to get this from metalink. Not sure where else it is available.
    Run following command to get installed version of binutils rpm.
    prompt> rpm -qa | grep binutils
    binutils-2.11.90.0.8-12
    Please note down the binutils rpm version that is shown as the output of the above command.
    If the operating system is installed from the RedHat 2.1 Advanced Server CDs,
    you will have binutils-2.11.90.0.8-12 version installed.
    You might have newer version of binutils rpm depending on your further configuration
    after default OS install. If the binutils rpm version is different from 2.11.90.0.8-12,
    please download that rpm.
    Upgrade to binutils-2.11.90.0.8-13 version using following command (as root user):
    prompt> rpm -Uvh --force binutils-2.11.90.0.8-13.i386.rpm
    13. Edit Local Hosts file
    Edit so that the host is in the following format
    # Do not remove the following line, or various programs
    # that require network functionality will fail.
    127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost
    192.168.3.69 lon-ias01.closepf.local lon-ias01
    192.168.3.66 lon-ias02.closepf.local lon-ias02
    14. Create Symbolic Link from /sbin/fuser file to /bin/fuser by entering the following command.
    cd /bin
    ln -s /sbin/fuser
    15. Rename Linux Ldap programs
    rename the ldapadd, ldapsearch, ldapmodify etc located in /usr/bin
    mv ldapadd ldapadd.bak
    mv ldapdelete ldapdelete.bak
    mv ldapmodify ldapmodify.bak
    mv ldapmodrdn ldapmodrdn.bak
    mv ldappasswd ldappasswd.bak
    mv ldapsearch ldapsearch.bak
    16. Unset your oracle home environment variable.
    unset ORACLE_HOME
    17. Set your TMP, TMPDIR and TEMP environment variables.
    These are located in /etc/profile
    TMP="/tmp"
    TMPDIR="/tmp"
    TEMP="/tmp"
    export TMP TMPDIR TEMP
    18. Make sure you have the following X11 library XFree86-devel-4.1.0-25.i386.rpm,
    which can be found of disk2 of the RedHat Advanced Linux CD v2.1. This is needed
    by the linking process.
    As ROOT user.
    mount the cdrom.
    cd /mnt/cdrom/RedHat/RPMS
    rpm -Uvh XFree86-devel-4.1.0-25.i386.rpm
    19. Install the application server as per the offficial install instructions. You should only have
    to use mount_point/runInstaller and follow the prompts.
    21. If it installs then run the interoperability patch.
    22. Should be working?!?
    19. To Remove an Install
    WARNING : Please note that by following the processes defined
    below, ALL Oracle products on the system will be cleaned
    up and will not be usable. Please do not follow these steps if you do
    not want to remove any Oracle Products
    1. Deinstall using installer
    2. Stop all running processes from the install.
    3. Delete the oracle directory under /var/opt as root user
    4. Delete the complete oraInventory directory
    5. Delete all directories and files from ORACLE_HOME directory
    6. Cleanup files under /tmp and /var/tmp as root user
    8. Remove emtab in the /etc directory
    9. Remove oracle files in /usr/local/bin
    Hope it works.

    ummm...
    chmod 777 /usr/local
    chmod 777 /usr/local/src
    chmod 777 /usr/local/oracle
    chmod 777 /usr/local/oracle/orahome1
    Why on earth would you do that??? There is NO need for >that, not to mention it being a HUGE security issue. I >have an offical doc on installing and configuring 9iAS >on Linux (includes information on as 2.1 install). I >will post this evening.Your quite correct, this section could probably be trimmed from the guide. At the time it was written it was used on a development box, on a production box this would not be done. Also to get this install working when Oracle first released it we were trying anything and everything to get it working, it took around 3-4 weeks of installing, reinstalling, serveral thounsand tar's and wasted weekends. I am pretty confident the instructions will work on rhas 2.1, it probably needs to be looked at again to trim away steps that aren't needed now.
    Looking forward to seeing your guide :-)

  • Share core 9iAS (Linux) with other local users?

    Finally set up core 9iAS on Red Hat. Now I'd like to know how to configure it to either start as a system service, be runnable by users other than 'oracle', or be persistent even after 'oracle' logs off. Bottom line: disassociate the 9iAS processes from the 'oracle' user session.
    Since I only have one dual-boot Linux box for dev purpose (no dedicated server here! :-)), what I want to do is to first start 9iAS, then connect to it from a regular user account via JDeveloper.
    Tried changing file permissions and using nohup - neither works.
    Thanks,
    Miles

    Creating new users for SMB access is way too complicated, because Apple has not really implemented the "sharing user" fully for SMB users. Thus, when you create a new user, and go to System Prefs -> Sharing -> File Sharing -> Options, the sharing user is NOT listed under the users to enable for access via SMB.
    However, there is a workaround that can get your "sharing user" up and going via SMB.
    1. Go to System Prefs -> Accounts. Click on the padlock to authenticate as admin.
    2. Then right click on your "sharing only" user (not Guest) and select "advanced...".
    3. There you will see that the Login Shell is set to a particular value (/usr/bin/false from memory). Take note of the value that is there.
    4. Change this value (from the drop down list) to "/bin/bash".
    5. Go to Sharing -> File Sharing -> Options... You will see that your sharing only user is now listed under SMB sharing.
    6. Tick the box for SMB sharing on the sharing only user and enter the password for that user.
    7. Go back to Accounts. Right click on your "sharing only" user and select "advanced..."
    8. Type in the value that you took note of in step 3 at "Login Shell" (and press ok).
    That's it! Now you can connect from Windows using the new sharing only user.
    In effect, this process temporarily enable the "sharing only" user for shell login to your Mac. By doing so, it enables the SMB password to be set. You then disable the shell login capability , and SMB sharing is enabled, whilst shell login is disabled.
    If you ever want to remove SMB access through that user, you will need to repeat the steps again, (although this time you will have to untick the box in step 6.
    Cheers,
    Rodney
    p.s. I have done this, and it works well for me. That said, you should back up your system before mucking around with advanced options. Just to be on the safe side.

  • 9iAS Db Cache and Forms

    Hi
    How do I get use of 9iAS DB Cache with my Forms deployment using forms server.
    null

    Mark,
    I was succesful on my 4th try. This is what I did differently and I'm not sure what triggered success.(a preface: database cache was not succesful but portal was). After install of db I followed these suggestions before install of 9ias(plus others offered by Tao Fan in a previous post:
    in the init.ora file:
    set o7_dictionary_accessibility=true(this is an o, not 0)
    comment out the 'dispatchers' line.
    rename the spfile in the <oracleHome>\database directory(i changed mine to xspfile.txt). Make sure you restart the db after any changes to the init.ora file. Set all oracle services to manual and disable the http server. Stop all services.
    Start your install. Mine hung at 100% complete with a command window open. Before I closed the command window I started the database service but not the listener. The install proceeded to fail during the db cache and portal install. I exited out of the install, started the dbTNSlistener, and any iSuitesagent services(not sure if this helped but I'm happy now!)Then, I restarted the machine. Then start/programs/iSuites/portalConfigAssistant and it worked.
    If none of this makes sense I can email you the documentation I kept while installing.

  • 9iAS installation problems w/ db cache and Portal

    I am still trying for a succesful installation of the 9ias software. I have followed all of the suggestions that have been posted and I am now getting TNS cannot resolve service name during the database cache part of the install. I checked services and it seems that this install didn't set up a TNSListener service for the 9iSuites home? I set the oracle_sid = icache as it instructs in the appendix, set the o7_dictionary_accessibility = true, and renamed the spfile to a .txt file so Oracle wouldn't find it. Subsequent to the database cache errors, the Portal install can't find the database either. I'm frustrated because I had the server up and running succesfully with an 8.1.7 db and I'm trying to switch to 9iDB. Any help would be greatly appreciated! My boss is getting a little impatient.
    Thanks.

    Mark,
    I was succesful on my 4th try.
• How to update JDBC of 9ias for nt from verion 8 to verion 9?

    I used a sun E250 server,it has oracle9i database,I want to install oracle9iAS for nt in another pc,the pc used windowsnt4,0,sp5.I want to use this pc's webserver-9ias connect the Sun E250's9i database,but the Jdbc verions are not same,I update 9ias' Jdbc,but the webserver don't work normally.why?

    The problem is that your client is WLS server, and WLS server has network class loading disable (for security), and the result from the call requires a class that is not on the client. The call succeeds, but the the network class load for the result fails, and the WLS 9.2 framework (incorrectly) retries the call (and you get either a duplicate key exception or a second row inserted). Putting the server jar in the client classpath solves the problem.
    If you wanted more information or help, you can contact BEA Customer Support and tell them it is regarding the CR I mentioned.

  • 9iAS Install requires CDROM

    Hi,
    This may seem like a strange question, but how can I install 9iAS on to a laptop with two hard drives but no CD-ROM. I've downloaded the files from OTN and expanded them on to the laptop. (Which was especially purchased with a second hard drive and a removable cdrom) The system has a hardware profile that allows for the second hard drive to be fitted (This drive contains Oracle) or the original CDROM in which case all the Oracle services are disabled. I can fit either the CDROM or the second Hard drive.
    I obviously want to install 9iAS to the second hard drive, but this means that I cannot connect the CDROM and install fails because there isn't one.
    Is there some sort of work around that will allow install to start.
    I notice that the Hardware requirements make no mention of the fact that a CDROM is obviously mandatory. Perhaps they should be amended.
    Hoping that you can help

    Increase the size of the SYSTEM tablespace to about 1GB (to be safe) and then reinstall 9iAS. I had to do this and it finally worked.

  • 9iAS DAD reuse problem

    Hi,
    We are having a problem when we set reuse to yes in the wdbsvr.app file. Our app server and database are seperated by a firewall. The firewall is set to drop inactive connections after 30 seconds (we have NO control over the settings of the firewall). When DAD resue is turned on, a bunch of connections are made to the database and are pooled to service incoming requests. When this feature is turned on our web apps were behaving funny. Sometimes they would work and sometimes they wouldn't. We finally discovered that it was the firewall that was terminating all the pooled DB connections after 30 seconds. The firewall drops the connections but 9iAS does not know they are dropped so that when a request is made to run a web app, 9iAS tries to use a DB connection from the pool which doesn't exist anymore. To make things work we have disabled the reuse feature. Has anyone encountered this problem? Found a solution?
    Thanks
    Chad Paquette

    Creating and destroying database connections is a very expensive
    operation and should be avoided as much as possible. The reason
    to add the connection pooling/reuse feature in mod_plsql was to
    get performance benefits from the reuse of an established session.
    As of today, mod_plsql does not detect the silent termination of
    a database connection, and the subsequent request which uses this
    connection from the pool will fail. This connection will then
    be discarded. But, if the firewall is going to drop a connection
    within 30 seconds, you will not be able to make much use of the
    connection pooling feature
    What is the reason for having such a firewall configuration where
    database connections from your middle-tier need to pass through
    a firewall while talking to the database? Can't this be bumped up?
    There are plans to add dead-connection detection in iAS v9.0.4.
    Until then, you should investigate the following options
    1. Disable reuse at the cost of performance
    2. If you do have 3.0.9.8.4 or above, and have the ability to
    configure the firewall timeout, you should be able to play
    around with the new configuration parameter added in 30984
    (plsql_idle_session_cleanup_interval). Note that this
    parameter will only work if it is set less than the firewall
    timeout.
    3. Another option is to run a separate OHS instance on the
    database machine, and proxy requests from the front-end
    listener. Details of this approch are available on
    http://otn.oracle.com/docs/products/ias/doc_library/1022doc_otn/apps.102/a90099/apptroub.htm#634197
    In this scenario, the firewall will only terminate socket
    connections from the primary listener to the secondary one.
    The actual database connections will remain intact.
