Disappointed with my IPhone and Skype While in Eur...
Took a cruise to Tallinn, Estonia on this trip. Our Tallinn tour guide touted that Skype was founded here. At the Port of Tallinn Wifi center, Skype would messaging was behaving sporadically, and voice calling was out of the question. Initially I blamed it on bandwidth problems. Seems like Skype would have assured that at least this WiFi center in their home city was adequate. However as I further circulated through St. Petersburg, Helsinki, Stockholm, and Copenhagen, my Skype communication was horrible at public WiFi spots. Our traveling companions had the same problems. Once I got back to the USA, my Apple IPhone was again OK with Skype. So I gave up on Skype use in Europe. Is there an explanation?
Skype has no control over the quality of your WiFi connection, nor do they directly deliver public WiFi connectivity anywhere that I am aware of

When you buy an iPhone in the U.S. it's locked to that country with the carrier you bought it for.
If you bought the device unlocked in the U.S. it's unlocked, you can use it on any carrier. Even one's outside the country.
If you want to do a repair on a device you bought in the U.S. and your using it in another country, you must send it back to the U.S. Why? That's where you bought it from.
AppleCare Protection Plans and AppleCare Limited Warranties are registered to your hardware.
Your hardware is your iPhone.
Wherever hardware that was bought then that's the country it was designed to be used in and that's where it was manufactured.
Apple is very localized - if you call U.S. tech support, you'll speak to somone in your country.
So, what does all this mean?
In order to do a repair, you need to send it back to the country you got it from.
And we're all customers like you. We understand that you're upset, but Apple isn't gonna bend the rules to one individual.
Policy is policy. Get over it. -
I have an itunes acct - with my iphone and ipad linked. Also my daughter has an ipod -so I orignally linked it to my acct and it identified it as MY ipod.
I now want to open a separate acct for my daughter - can this be done on the same PC/laptop and then change her ipod over to her acct ?Sure.

When I take a picture with my iPhone and then forward the picture to an emaila ddress (regardless of picture size) it will not send the email with the pciture enclosed - any thoughts on how to fix ?????
Thanks -The collum to the right listed similar problems. The solution appears to be that under smtp outgoing settings the user name and password are listed as optional. I have not plugged in the information and it seems to be working. However from my office it always allowed the relaying. The true test will be when I try to respond later from the road.

When I take a picture with my IPhone and send it to my home computer (HP Windows) why does the picture turn out sideways or upside down?
OK, here's the explanation. When you take a picture, the iPhone knows what orientation it is in (portrait, landscape, etc.) and adds that information to the picture's EXIF data so it knows which side is up. Apple devices can decode this information and show the picture right side up when it is viewed. However, Windows computers cannot do this. They are not capable of decoding the orientation information added by the iPhone, so they are displayed in a default orientation (which may not be right side up).
This only happens on Windows machines, and unfortunately there is nothing you can do about it, except use the rotation buttons in Windows picture view to orient the photo correctly. -

I had an old macbook, too old to put it on icloud. So when I created my icloud account, I did it with my iphone and my ipad. Now I bought a new macbook pro.I wanted to synchronise it to my icloud account but it tell me that this account is with someone and that I have to create a new one. Seems like it does not recognised my account.
What should I do?Let me see if I've gotten this right! You want to remove an account from BOTH machines? Do this for your new machine first, then for the other.
Click the Apple logo on the top left of the screen, System Preferences, Users and Groups (under Systems), unlock the lock in the window if its locked (you need to know the password), select the user that you wish to remove, and click the - sign next to the + sign for Login options. A window will pop up with some options. Select Delete this user and securely, and click 'Delete user'.
After this, do an update from the App Store.
Thats all there is to it.
For the other machine repeat the process except for one thing. Before you delete the user in this case YOU, you will have to give Administrator priviledges to your son bu checking the box 'Allow user to administer this computer'.
Do NOT do anything from Finder ... if you dont know how to fix the consequences of the problems caused.
There is no need to unauthorize your iTunes account on your new machine. Do it on the old machine though. -

I have set up a Netgear dual band modem which works well with the iPhone and an older MacBook, but with this brand new MacBook it asks for a password every time I reopen the computer and open safari. As you can imagine this is very annoying. It says I am not connected to the internet and offers me a choice of nearby networks including mine and then asks for a password when I select it. Why does it do this with our new MacBooks (also with my son's brand new one) and not with the iPhone, iPad and older MacBook? They happily automatically connect to our network after entering the password just the once.
Sig, I appreciate you trying to be helpful. I have no idea what issues you were having or what issue exactly pgrounds has been having. Your assumption that everyone's set up is the same as yours is false however. There are many many documented WiFi issues that are a result of Lion installs. Many have been solved by 10.7.1 and 10.7.2. Others have been solved by a large variety of work arounds. Others have not had their issues solved yet.
I am one of those. I have an IT background, and I spent the better of five hours digging up workarounds and attempting all of them. For the benefit oh anyone who is having similar issues, I have posted links to all of those workarounds here. None of them worked in my case, but hopefully they will help pgrounds or others.
So, once again, if you have a new idea, I'd love to here it. But if it has already been posted in one of these links, it's not helpful, let it go.

I have different account ID's with my iphone and computer.
I would like to standardize both to just the one.
One of the ID's doesn't work, when I tried to list this second email with the preferred one a message telling me that this email is already in use pops up.. yes it is, with me??

My Outlook Contacts/calendars (running on an iMac) never sync properly with my iPhone, and now on the last sync 90% of the contact information on my iPhone has been deleted. Any ideas?

My iPhone have the problem about calling and answer the call. When I use my iPhone to call I can't hear anything from my iPhone but the person that I call can answer it but when answer both of us can't hear anything and when I put my iPhone to my face the screen is still on and when I quit the phone application and open it again it will automatic call my recent call. And when my friends call me my iPhone didn't show anything even the missed call I'm only know that I missed the call from messages from carrier. Please check these problem I restored my iPhone for 4 time now in this week. I lived in Hatyai, Songkhla,Thailand and many people in my city have this problem.

The solution is to restart, reset, and restore as new which is in the manual after that get it replaced for hard ware failure. if your within your one year warranty its replaced if it is out of the warranty then it is 199$

You have been syncing the iPhone with iTunes on your computer without a SIM card inserted in the iPhone for how long?
If the iPhone says connect to computer, this means there is a problem with your iPhone that requires restoring the iPhone with iTunes. As already provided, not having a SIM card inserted in an iPhone does not prevent or shouldn't prevent syncing the iPhone with iTunes. Depending on the iPhone model, it is required in order to restore the iPhone with iTunes.

To re-activate an iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS that displays the "Connect to iTunes" screen:
Insert a SIM card from the carrier with which you used your phone. Note: If you are using the same carrier, you can use the activated SIM card from your new device to do this. If your device is unlocked by your carrier, you can use any SIM card.
Connect the iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS to iTunes on a computer connected to the Internet.
iTunes will then activate the device. You can remove the SIM card at this point and use the iPhone as if it were an iPod touch. -

With multiple iPhones and an iPad, how do I keep from downloading info from one device to another? All of my info, example my calendar, ended up on my daughter's iPad.
Each device has its own sync preferences with iTunes when syncing multiple devices with the same iTunes library under the same computer login account.
If sync calendars with the same calendar is selected under the Info tab for your daughter's iPad sync preferences with iTunes, the same calendar will be synced with her iPad.
