Discoverer 10g Business Intelligence Portal Update

Hi,
We have a Oracle Application Server portal used for Business Intelligence that automatically updates every morning. Sometimes some of the sheets in the portal fail to update and are done manually later in the day. Usually the owner of the portal do this manual refresh. Is there any way we could delegate this task to other user who can do this?

Anybody with the solution/suggestion?

  • Install and configure Oracle AS 10g Business Intelligence Comp with SSO

    Hi,
    Present setup:
We have a Red hat Linux 3.0 ES (update 4).
Netgrity from Site minder installed over windows server for signle sign on.
Oracle 9i release 2 database on a separate Windows server
    What i need:
I want to install Oracle Application Sever Business Intelligence Components 10G over the linux and configure with Netegrity Single Sign on. I am not clear what is the installation process and what is the sequence of installation and configuration.
Can anyone help me with the Installation process and sequence.
What should be the sequence is it like below ?
    1) first install the Oracle AS 10g Infrastructure over the Linux
    2) Secondly install the Oracle Application Sever Business Intelligence Components 10G and integrate with Infrastructure
    3) Configure with SSO
or only install the Oracle Application Sever Business Intelligence Components 10G and Configure with SSO is enough ?
Any help in the installation process and sequence of instlallation and how to configure for external single Sign on.
    Thanks..

When you want to have SSO you definitly need the infrastructure as the SSO is managed in there.
So first install the infrastructure, then the middle tier (BI components) and then configure the SSO for the BI components.
When this is up and running you have to configure the integration with the SiteMinder. Check out the OID admin guide and the SSO admin guide.

  • Discoverer Plus Business Intelligence Print Format Problems

I am having a problem with setting the print settings to landscape. Under page setup before printing i set the Orientation to Landscape. The worksheet is printed in a landscape format, but the margins only go halfway across the page (under print preview the report fits on one page). It seems as if the program is taking the potrait orientation and just printing an image of the potrait printout in landscape. Does anyone know what the problem is? Thanks!

    Hi
Discoverer Viewer is licensed the same as Discoverer Plus. If you have 1 Plus user and 20 Viewer users you need to be licensed for 21 users.
You can either buy named users or you can buy an unlimited license. The cutover point is 25 users becauses the last time I looked I believe the per user price was $800 and the perpetual was $20,000 per CPU.
The minimum purchase for named users is 5 so are you absolutely certain that 1 license you have isn't a perpetual license or even perhaps a Discoverer Admin license?
You should discuss this with your Oracle sales rep who may well be able to get you a better price.

  • Installing Discoverer 10g, please help

while I install Discoverer 10g (Business Intelligence Tool 10.1.2) using OUI, it gives error:
Checking temp space: -1 MB available, 150 MB required. Failed
I believe the temp fold in my Windows XP is more than 150 MB and I also tried several times to chnage environment variable and system variable from temp to TMP to use another fold as temp fold. But none of them works.
Would anybody out there help to give a clue ?
    Thanks
    -ian

    ian,
The value of TEMP variable is saved in your hard disk. So if the message you read is that you have 1 MB available that means in the c: partition (normally is this) you don't have enough space. Try to increase the space in this partition or make another variable in another partition of your hard disk where you have more space.
    Hope this helps.

  • Portal integration with E-Business and Discoverer 10g

    Hello Everyone,
We have a R12 integrated with SSO/OID. We also have a standalone Oracle BI Discoverer 10g. We want to implement Oracle Portal here. One of the requirements of this project is to have a common home page for both E-Business Suite login as well Discoverer access. Right now E-Business Suite login is seperate and Discoverer home page is seperate (because it comes from a Standalone installation)
    1) What are the benefits of having AS Portal 10g for end users ?
    2) To begin with, we would like to go with the minimum portlets.
    3) Is it possible to have a common home page for both E-Biz access and the Discoverer acess after Portal integration ?
    4) Do you have some screenshots of how things look after Portal integration
    -Thanks
    Srinivas

    Hi,
    take a look in metalink Note:313418.1. :
"Using Discoverer 10.1.2 with Oracle E-Business Suite 11i"
Look in section 6 - post installation.
Follow the steps and have a very good luck.

i installed oracle9ias r2(9.0.2) . my installation is "business intelligence".but my aim is to run oracle9iportal."
    my directory structure is
    /opt/oracle/infrastructure
    /opt/oracle/applicationserver
    /opt/oracle/appserver
one infrastructure and two applicationserver on one host.
i read the Oracle9i Application Server Administrator's Guide
    Release 2 (9.0.2)
    i have some questions
1-You can install multiple application server installations and infrastructures on the same host. Each must have its own Oracle home.
if so why do i need to change all times "@ORACLE_HOME" path according to others.? is there another solution
2-which steps do i follow to run portal?
3-must i run infrastructure structure before starting application server ?

  • User Management in Oracle Business Intelligence Discoverer Desktop

I am new to managing Oracle Business Intelligence Discoverer Desktop users. In the past they have been allowed to use shared accounts with passwords that do not change. I am very much against this and think they need to change their passwords every 90 days and have individual accounts. My users do not have access to SQL or the database server itself. I do not see a way for the users to change their passwords with the Discoverer tool.
I am wondering how you manager your users?
Do you require them to change their passwords?
If so, how did you implement this?
    Thanks for your ideas.

    Hi,
This is a tricky one, because when the scheduled job runs the SSO user is not stored anywhere. You only know the database user.
The workaround must be to store the SSO user or organisation so that it is available when the scheduled job runs. However, this is not easy as the information must be stored against the batch run as two similar batch runs may have different organisations/SSO users. There are a number of ways you might do this, for example, adding the information into the batch run EUL table, changing the package which is created when the workbook is scheduled that gets run from the jobs queue so that the package sets the organisation. All the options would involve changing the supplied report batch code which probably would not be supported.
Maybe the easiest workaround is to use a custom table, and it work like this:
    1. A database logon trigger or EUL post logon trigger would check the client_identier and get the organisation.
    2. The organisation should then be stored in a database context. It is quicker than using a package variable.
    3. The EUL5_BATCH_SECURE_REP package is modified so that when the workbook is scheduled the organisation is stored in a custom table along with the batch run id or database job id.
    4. A database logon trigger on the batch repository user (which will be fired when the scheduled report runs) looks in the custom table for the batch run id or job id using the details from the current job. The current job id is available from the userenv context.
    5. The organisation is then retrieved and the database context set so that the workbook runs correctly.
I appreciate that the details are a bit sketchy but hopefully this has given you some ideas.

  • Business Intelligence - Discoverer Viewer

    Hi,
If we have 1 license for Business Intelligence Standard Edition, and we have one user who will use Discoverer Plus and 20 users who will use Discoverer Viewer, do we need to get more licenses for the Viewer or we can have as many users as we want to use the viewer with 1 Business Intelligence license?

    Hi

  • Discoverer 10g E-Business Release 12 Vision

I am currently setting up Discoverer 10.1.2 for use with Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12, as per Metalink document 373634.1.
I have reached the point where it's time to create a fresh End User Layer. However section 5.6 of the above document states that the 'Release 12 Vision database contains a pre-installed Discoverer 10.1.2 End User Layer'.
Can anyone tell me how to access this and what the default login credentials are? I can't find it in any Discoverer document.

    Hi Mark,
    To answer your original question:
"Can anyone tell me where I change configuration setting so that Discoverer Plus or Discoverer Desktop look for the correct dbc file?"
    There is not a way.
It relies on what E-BS passes to it.
You can see this by capturing the URL after you click the worksheet link in E-BS.
    You will see parameters like:
    &SessionCookieName=vis
    &Connect=%5BAPPS_SECURE%5Dvis
In my environment, these match $FND_TOP/secure/<SID>_<HOST>/ dbc file
You could also do a connection trace to see the values passed from E-BS
Note 370800.1     How To Create An Applications Connection Trace For Discoverer 10g (10.1.2) Plus / Viewer
Bottom line, you can't control it in Disco.
Hope that helps. Other Comments welcomed.

  • Business Intelligence SE does not install discoverer

    Hi,
Does anybody recently download Business Intelligence SE from Oracle site and install successfully ?
I installed it, but it does not install the discoverer component. I checked the CD stage sub folder, and it does not have discoverer component. I also checked it from the Oracle Installer, still cannot find the discoverer component.
    Anybody know what's wrong? Thanks.

The software did install the plus and viewer, but you have to go through the a web page to access them. Before I tried to find the short cut in the program menu. Checked the setupinfo.txt file in the install directory. It tells what URL to access discoverer. From that page you can access the Plus and viewer.
