DISPATCHERS

Hi All,
I am system their is only one dispatcher .... due to listener issue
TNS-12518: TNS:listener could not hand off client connection
TNS-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error
TNS-00530: Protocol adapter error
32-bit Windows Error: 233: Unknown error
i increased my dispatcher from 1 to 5... using command
alter system set DISPATCHERS = '(protocol=tcp)(dispatchers=5)';
But when i restart my DB and check the dispatcher in V$dispatcher .. it is showing only one dispatcher...
How can i fix my dispatcher permanently....
Thanx
Mani

In first place, you didn't mentioned your database version nor by increasing dispartchers value, your problems has solved or not.
alter system set DISPATCHERS = '(protocol=tcp)(dispatchers=5)';When you set a new value to any parameter using 'alter system ...', that is only available through out your database available. Once you shutdown and bringup the database, your new values are lost, because, when you start database, values are read from init.ora file. If you want to make it permanent, change the value in init.ora file. If you are using oracle 9i, spfile inplace of init.ora file, just say, alter system set parameter=value scope=both;

  • Problems with dispatchers after upgrading to SP5

    Hi
We have just updated our productive environment to IdM 7.1 SP5. Apparantly everything works as expected, but for some reason the provisioning queue is just growing and growing. Jobs and provisionings are not executed. When checking the dispatchers, they seem to be running, and the "Last requested" timestamp is updated as normally. I log on to the server and stop and start the dispatcher. Then the provisioning queue is starting to be processed - but only for a few minutes. Then everything stalls again and I ahve to stop/start the dispatcher once again. The same thing happens: Everything performs just fine for a few minutes, then it stalls again.
    Has anyone ever experienced this?
This is a very serious issue for us, since we cannot stop/start the dispatchers in the productive environment every two minutes
    Kind regards
    Heidi Kronvold

    Hi Lahcen
SAP gave us a new jar file called mxopenspml.jar. After replacing the existing jar-file with this one, the problem was solved for all the java provisionings. On the ABAP side some things were also changed by recommendation from SAP, but I was not quite as involved in this part of the problem, so I cannot give you any detailed information. My advise for you and anyone else who experience similar problems would be to contact SAP and have them deliver the same changes, that they gave us. I believe it will be part of the next SP - I believe I saw somewhere that SP6 might be released W29.
    Kind regards

  • "Dispatchers" parameter in dedicated mode

    Hello,
I've noticed that the "dispatchers"' parameter in dedicated mode looks like this (on 10.2.0.1.0 db) :
    dispatchers=(PROTOCOL=TCP) (SERVICE=sidXDB)
What is the SERVICE parameter for, and why is it set to this default value in dedicated mode ?
Is the SERVICE parameter always set for dedicated servers only ?
Otherwise, how can I recognize dedicated and shared mode when I look at the insatnce parameters ?
    thank you
    Regards,
    Antoine

Actually you can configure a instance to use dedicated server mode and shared server >mode at the same time: it's up to the client to connect using the right configured service >that will make the right mapping. You are right Pierre.
But I've tried to configure several instances with DBCA wizard, both in dedicated and shared mode :
    - when dedicated mode is selected, dispatchers parameter is set like this : "dispatchers=(PROTOCOL=TCP) (SERVICE=sidXDB)", and all connections at the instance will be in by default dedicated mode, even if the "shared_servers" parameters is greater than 0
    - when shared mode is selected, dispatchers parameter is set like this : "dispatchers=(PROTOCOL=TCP)"
I thought that the instance would run automatically in shared mode if the "shared_servers" parameters is greater than 0, but that's untrue
Besides, I don't understand the link between the "(SERVICE=sidXDB)" option, which seems to be related to the XML database, and the connection mode to the instance.
This is quiet confusing to me, there is obviously something I don't know or I don't understand

  • ID'ing info required to determine # of dispatchers?

    Hey;
I'm reading through the oracle net services admin guide. In chapter 12, configuring dispatchers, it gives a small case study:
"Consider a system that can support 950 connections for each process and has:
    * 4000 users concurrently connected through TCP/IP
    * 2,500 sessions concurrently connected through TCP/IP with SSL.
In this case, the dispatchers attribute should be set to a minimum of five dispatchers and TCP/IP with SSL should be set to three dispatchers"
Where it came up with the number of dispatchers is clear:
    4000/950 = 4.21 => 5
    2500/950 = 2.63 => 3
How do you determine the dividend/divisor, though? Specifically:
How can you ID the number of connections that each server process can support?
How can you ID the number of users currently connected?
    Thanks for any hints/tips/suggestions.
    Doug O'Leary

Thanks for any hints/tips/suggestions.If you run DEDICATED (instead of SHARED), then you do not have to bother with the questions or the answers about number of dispatchers

  • Oracle listeners/dispatchers/shared servers

    Hi,
Should the Oracle listeners/dispatchers/shared servers be set up to work with
    BEA's connection pooling features?
    If so how?
    Regards
    Vaidy

I had observed the same for 10.2.0.1 databases also. I don't see the same.

Why does DBCA create a shared server by default and it is even setting the dispatcher? post proof
What are the steps to ensure that the database is a dedicated server.Your database is always enabled to allow dedicated server processes,
but you must specifically configure and enable shared server by setting one or more initialization parameters.

  • Duplicate Dispatchers Listed in ReportNet

    Duplicate Dispatchers Listed in ReportNet
Is there an issue with having two different dispatchers listed in the CRN, one dispatcher points to one environment and the other one to another environment? The system is currently updating the environment that we want, however I want to make sure it doesn't get switched to point to the other dispatcher. In addition if someone knows of a way to remove a dispatcher in CRN from http://localhost/crn that would be greatly appreciated.

Be careful about deleting those duplicates. You might end up deleting your home directory. Make a backup of your machine just in case. If you are wiling to take some risk then proceed.
I played around with this and found that if you have more then one account pointing to the same home directory, then deleting any of the duplicate accounts will not impact the home directory.
However, one of those accounts must be the *Primary Owner* of that home directory and deleting that user will delete the *Home Directory*. Not quite what you want to have happen.
If you try to delete the Primary account you should get a prompt asking you what to do with the *Home Folder*.
Choose *"Do not change the home folder"*
That should preserve it incase you need to get that directory back.
The first think I would do is see if all the duplicates are using the same *Home Folder*
    Open up Preferences
    Open up Accounts
Ctrl-Click on one of the Duplicate Accounts and select *Advanced Options*.
Record the *Home Directory* for each of the accounts.
If they are the same, then you should be able to delete the duplicates without a problem. Again, if and when prompted, choose *"Do not change the home folder"*.
If the duplicate *Home Folder* point to a different location, then you just have to figure out which is your primary account and delete the duplicates. Again, I'd play it safe and save those home folders until I knew everything was working and there wasn't anything in those folders that I wanted. Once they are gone they are gone.
    Good luck!

  • Question about shared servers/dispatchers

    Hello,
    Oracle database 11.2.0.1
If we have 2 instances running under a Oracle home, can you configure dispatchers on the same host/port in both instances? I tried to do this, but the only one came up. I'm guessing because the port is in use? If I configure different ports for the dispatchers in the instances, both handlers start.
    Thanks for the help!

As far as I know dispatchers can only work for one database instance (in single instance configuration). It makes no sense to try to share dispatchers among different database instances that manage different databases.

  • Stale dispatchers - What to do?

Would any of you have any experience with stale dispatchers? We have a production system where the dispatchers every now and then just stop working. From the Identity Center it is possible they may appear to be working, but from the Web UI, they seem to have stopped working. In our IdM production environment it is very important that dispatchers keep running or that we can somehow automatically monitor when they have stopped working. What can be done to address this?
    Best regards,
    Anders

    Hello,
we have the same issue with our windows dispatchers. As a workaround i installed on every machine a second dispatcher and made a job on that dispatcher that checks the other dispatcher every few minutes and restarts it if it stopped.
My select to find a stopped dispacher:
    select machine from MC_DISPATCHER
    where
    to_char(last_visited,'yyyy-mm-dd hh24:mi:ss') < to_char(sysdate-1/24/3600*120,'yyyy-mm-dd hh24:mi:ss')
    and machine = '%DISPATCHER%'
If i get a result I stop and start the dispatcher with shell commands:
    SC stop MxDispatcher_dispatchername
    SC start MxDispatcher_dispatchername
    Best regards,
    Thomas

3d3d3d is for red but you have a blackish and color2 is for green but you have it white the rest should be the default colors. it uses the same colors only it changes the vairiant of the color you choice there or normally moc uses colors such as green blue and such which will call your console colors for those respective fields I know moc has /user/share/moc/themes/ that you can edit or make your own for instance copy one and edit it. I think htop uses the same color count which is 8 but with so green will be white when you use urxvt. 8 for normal colors 16 for bright dark and urxvt is 256 which is 16 but can use any of the 256 colors for 16.
just to clarify you have commented out your colors 4-15 and your green and red is weird, and htop aswell as moc is 8 bit. moc theme_yellow_red is default for background so it will use urxvts background
Haahaha, that is simple. And it works!!!
I didn't bother with commenting that because i thought they are not applied. Anyway, thanks man. My urxvt terminal si grateful to you and your thorough explanation. SOLVED!

  • Web Dispatchers Sizing for Portal

    SCN,
SAP doesn't offer a quicksizer for Web Dispatchers.  I have read "Sizing the SAP Web Dispatcher" deck.
    (1)  Once SAPS are established, how is this extrapolated to hardware sizing?  (1a) Do I need to speak with a h/w vendor to understand the host system's SAPS capability?
    (2)  If the system is virtual, how many SAPS do I allocate for VMWare?
    (3)  For an SSL termination scenario, can anyone proffer a rule of thumb for server size depending on Messages/Second (ie for 1000 messages/second, how many 2 (2.4 GHz CPU) x 4 (GB RAM) servers with a single WD instance are required)?
    All thoughts appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Sawyer

    Hi Samuli, SCN,
    Thanks for the info.
Per (3), I was searching for something generic, although it's probably infeasible as #SAPS/server model can change drastically with the slightest config difference.  One could look to SAP Benchmark Results for a server certification (with #SAPS capabilities) if the HW vendor had benchmarked the server config in mind.  Since our HW vendor did not, I've worked with them to understand the SAPS capabilites of our server config.
    Another thing:
From that same deck, when estimating "average number of messages per user interaction step" for the WD sizing equation, does it make sense to double the number of requests detailed in a Portal ADC trace?
    My reasoning:
In another SCN question, you thought in the context of WD sizing, messages are HTTP(S) requests, GETs, or POSTs.  Makes sense.  From Portal ADC data, I've gleaned the total number of users and their requests during the peak hour.  Since the WD acts as an application gateway/reverse proxy (incoming HTTP(S) requests are forwarded by the WD to an App Server ICM, then the App Server's response is returned to the client back through the WD), for every client request, two messages flow across the WD.
    Thanks,
    Sawyer

  • LINUX Based Dispatchers

    Hi Experts,
Having an issue with IDM 7.2 running a dispatcher on CentOS 5.7. I created the dispatcher and got it up and running in CentOS just fine, however it's not running any of the jobs that I have assigned to it.
Here's the big question.  Do I have to select the jobs then generate the dispatcher, copy it over to the LINUX box and then customize and start it?  This seems to be a bit of a process.
Can anyone point me in the right direction here?
    Thanks,
    Matt

    Hi Matt,
We have Linux based dispatchers and the problems we came across were making sure you are running java jobs on a java runtime, and that the comms are in place so the dispatcher can see the database. From memory you can run the dispatcher in test mode and see it connecting and picking up jobs.
    Hope that helps,
    Ian

  • About dispatchers

    Hi all,
In a shared server mode, can a dispatcher be allocated to more users if all dispatchers are already taking users connection requests ? I mean : if max_dispatcher parameter is reached and there are more users than max_dispatcher requesting connection , what will happen ?
    Thank you

Starting with release 10.1, there is no preset default for MAX_DISPATCHERS. MAX_DISPATCHERS no longer limits the number of dispatchers; the user can increase the number of dispatchers via the DISPATCHERS parameter as long as there are free process slots and system resources.
In previous releases, the default for MAX_DISPATCHERS was 5, or the total number of dispatchers specified via the DISPATCHERS parameter, whichever was greater.
    Thanks,
    Balaji K.

  • Running Multiple Web Dispatchers On The Same Server

Is it possible to run multiple instances of Web Dispatcher on the same server?  I want to have one instance pointing to my WAS 6.40 system and the other instance pointing to my BW system.  I have set up two services on the NT server:  One named the standard sapwebdisp.exe and the other named sapwebdispbw.exe.  I am using two separate profile files, one for each instance.  The services start O.K.  However, when I attempt to access my BW system using the HTTP port as defined in the BW profile and the Web Dispatcher profile, I get a message back saying that "The server you are attempting to access has refused the connection with the gateway. This usually results from trying to connect to a service that is inactive on the server."  I have double checked that the service is running and that the BW system is up and available.
    Any help is appreciated.

Is it possible for you to paste your config file here ?
With explanation what the portal name is en waht the web dispatcher name is ?
    The error I get :
