Display jpeg byte array with JSP !!

I am new in JSP area so maybe I ask a easy question !!
First, on the server side:I use a C++ program to stream sequence jpeg data out(FF D8 ~ FF D9).
Second, on the client side:I use jsp to open a socket and read
data to a byte array.
Can anyone tell me how to display the jpeg array on browser one by one ?

um... like video frames, or just a single image? I wouldn't really use JSP for that, I'd use a servlet, set the content-type to image/jpeg and just write out the bytes. Unless you are talking about displaying the bytes themselves, in which case, a JSP page would be better. If it's video frames, I'm not sure how to have the browser do that, since most no longer support server push.

• How to load and display a byte array (jpeg) image file dynamically in Flex?

My web service client (servlet) received a binary jpeg data from an Image Server. The Flex application invokes the
servlet via HttpService and receives the binary jpeg data as byte array. How could it be displayed dynamically
without writing the byte array to a jpeg file? Please help (some sample code is very much appreciated).

JPEGEncoder is only useful for converting BitmapData to ByteArray, not the other way around.
By the way JPEGEncoder and PNGEncoder are part of the Flex SDK now, so no need to use AS3Lib (alltough it's a good library to have around).
To display/use a ByteArray as image, use a Loader instance with the loadBytes method.
Loader.loadBytes(bytes:ByteArray, context:LoaderContext = null);
Listen for the complete event on the Loader.contentLoaderInfo and get the BitmapData in the event handler.
private function loadJpeg():void {
var loader:Loader = new Loader();
loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, loaderCompleteHandler);
//jpgBA is the ByteArray loaded from webservice
loader.loadBytes(jpgBA);
private function loaderCompleteHandler(evt:Event):void {
var t:LoaderInfo = evt.currentTarget as LoaderInfo;
// display the jpeg in an Image component
img.source = t.content;
<mx:Image id="img" scaleContent="false" />

• Strange issue with POF: byte array with the value 94

This is a somewhat strange issue we’ve managed to reduce to this test case. We’ve also seen similar issues with chars and shorts as well. It’s only a problem if the byte value inside the byte array is equal to 94! A value of 93, 95, etc, seems to be ok.
Given the below class, the byte values both in the array and the single byte value are wrong when deserializing. The value inside the byte array isn’t what we put in (get [75] instead of [94]) and the single byte value is null (not 114).
Pof object code:
package com.test;
import java.io.IOException;
import java.util.Arrays;
import com.tangosol.io.pof.PofReader;
import com.tangosol.io.pof.PofWriter;
import com.tangosol.io.pof.PortableObject;
public class PofObject1 implements PortableObject {
private byte[] byteArray;
private byte byteValue;
public void setValues() {
byteArray = new byte[] {94};
byteValue = 114;
@Override
public void readExternal(PofReader reader) throws IOException {
Object byteArray = reader.readObjectArray(0, null);
Object byteValue = reader.readObject(1);
System.out.println(Arrays.toString((Object[])byteArray));
System.out.println(byteValue);
if (byteValue == null) throw new IOException("byteValue is null!");
@Override
public void writeExternal(PofWriter writer) throws IOException {
writer.writeObject(0, byteArray);
writer.writeObject(1, byteValue);
Using writer.writeObjectArray(0, byteArray); instead of writer.writeObject(0, byteArray); doesn't help. In this case byteArray would be of type Object[] (as accessed through reflection).
This is simply put in to a distributed cache and then fetched back. No EPs, listeners or stuff like that involved:
public static void main(String... args) throws Exception {
NamedCache cache = CacheFactory.getCache("my-cache");
PofObject1 o = new PofObject1();
o.setValues();
cache.put("key1", o);
cache.get("key1");

Hi,
POF uses certain byte values as an optimization to represent well known values of certain Object types - e.g. boolean True and False, some very small numbers, null etc... When you do read/write Object instead of using the correct method I suspect POF gets confused over the type and value that the field should be.
There are a number of cases where POF does not know what the type is - Numbers would be one of these, for example if I stored a long of value 10 on deserialization POF would not know if that was an int, long double etc... so you have to use the correct method to get it back. Collections are another - If you serialize a Set all POF knows is that you have serialized some sort of Collection so unless you are specific when deserializing you will get back a List.

• How to encrypt byte array with out padding using RSA in Java?

I've modulus and public exponent as byte[] array, so I'm trying to convert into BigIntegers and then create public key and then Cipher. Here is the example code:
With this I'm always getting different encrypted bytes, is it because of padding. I dont want to use any padding so what parameter I need to pass along with RSA? I've modulus byte[] array size 64 bytes. I believe I'll get 64 encrypted bytes. I've content size of 32 bytes to be encrypted.
--------code begin ---------------------------
BigInteger bexponent = new BigInteger(pubExpo);
BigInteger bmodulus = new BigInteger(modulus);
KeyFactory keyFactory = KeyFactory.getInstance("RSA");
RSAPublicKeySpec pubKeySpec = new RSAPublicKeySpec(bmodulus, bexponent);
RSAPublicKey pubKey = (RSAPublicKey)keyFactory.generatePublic(pubKeySpec);
Cipher c = Cipher.getInstance("RSA");
c.init(Cipher.ENCRYPT_MODE, pubKey);
return c.doFinal(content);
--------code end---------------------------

With this I'm always getting different encrypted
bytes, is it because of padding. Yes, if you're using PKCS1Padding (which is the default in SunJCE if you don't specify it). Have a look at the PKCS1 spec if you haven't seen it already.
http://www.rsasecurity.com/rsalabs/pkcs
Section 7.2.1 talks about type 2 padding, which uses random bytes as the PS string.
I dont want to use
any padding so what parameter I need to pass along
with RSA? NOPADDING. You should be able to find this out by look at the "Supported Paddings" parameter in your provider's database. Which of course, means you'll need to supply the right number of bytes to the Cipher.

• How to display double byte characters with system.out.print?

Hi, I'm a newbie java programmer having trouble to utilize java locale with system io on dos console mode.
Platform is winxp, jvm1.5,
File structure is:
C:\myProg <-root
C:\myProg\test <-package
C:\myProg\test\Run.java
C:\myProg\test\MessageBundle.properties <- default properties
C:\myProg\test\MessageBundle_zh_HK.properties <- localed properties (written in notepad and save as Unicode, window notepad contains BOM)
inside MessageBundle.properties:
test = Hello
inside Message_zh_HK.properties:
test = 喂 //hello in big5 encoding
run.java:
package test;
import java.util.*;
public class Run{
public static void main(String[] args){
Locale locale = new Locale("zh","HK");
ResourceBundle resource =
ResourceBundle.getbundle("test.MessageBundle", locale);
System.out.println(resource.getString("test"));
}//main
}//classwhen run this program, it'll kept diplay "hello" instead of the encoded character...
then when i try run the native2ascii tool against MessageBundle_zh_HK.properties, it starts to display monster characters instead.
Trying to figure out what I did wrong and how to display double byte characters on console.
Thank you.
p.s: while googling, some said dos can only can display ASCII. To demonstrate the dos console is capable of displaying double byte characters, i wrote another helloWorld in chinese using notepad with C# and compile using "csc hello.cs", sure enough, console.write in c# allowed me to display the character I was expecting. Since dos console can print double byte characters, I must be missing something important in this java program.

after google a brunch, I learned that javac (hence java.exe) does not support BOM (byte order mark).
I had to use a diff editor to save my text file as unicode without BOM in order for native2ascii to convert into a ascii file.
Even the property file is in ascii format, I'm still having trouble to display those character in dos console. In fact, I just noticed I can use system.out.println to display double byte character if I embedded the character itself in java source file:
public class Run {
public static void main(String[] args) throws UnsupportedEncodingException{
String msg = "中文"; //double byte character
try{
System.out.println(new String(msg.getBytes("UTF-8")) + " new string");  //this displays fine
catch(Exception e){}
Locale locale = new Locale("zh", "HK");
ResourceBundle resource = ResourceBundle.getBundle("test.MessagesBundle", locale);
System.out.println(resource.getString("Hey")); //this will display weird characterso it seems like to me that I must did something wrong in the process of creating properties file from unicode text file...

I have pasted code for servlet's doGet method which writes image data...
public void doGet(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response)
throws
ServletException, IOException
HttpSession session = request.getSession(); //taking httpsession
response.setContentType("image/jpeg");

• Issue with reading byte array

I have a binary file to be read.I want to read the whole file into a byte array. But while doing so the values which are greater than 128 are read as negative values as we have Signedbyte in java(-127 to 128).
So I tried reading the bytes into the int array as shown in the below code.
int i = 0;
int content[]= new int[(int)size];
FileInputStream fstream = new FileInputStream(fileName);
DataInputStream in = new DataInputStream(fstream);
while(i<size)
content= in.readUnsignedByte();
i++;
The above function 'readUnsignedByte();' reads byte and stores it into an int array.....But since the file contains around 34000 bytes ....the loop runs 340000 times .....which is a performance hazard.
After googling for hours ....I could still not find any alternative ....
I want to read byte and want to store in int array but instead of loop, I want to read the file at once.
Or is there any way to implement Unsigned Byte in java so that I can read the entire file in byte array without corrupting the values which are greater than 128..
I have to deliver the code asap .....Please help me out with an alternative solution for this...
Thanks in advance....

Thanks for replying ......
Actually, I need to take the bytes into an array(int or byte array) with decimal values and further process these decimal values.......
but while reading the file into a byte array the decimal values get corrupted(in case when I read a number greater than 128) but in this case I am able to read the whole file at once(without using any loop) as done by the following code
FileInputStream fstream = new FileInputStream(fileName);
DataInputStream in = new DataInputStream(fstream);
byte b[] = null;
in.readFully(b);
and while reading the file in int array as done in the below code is inefficient as the number of times the loop runs is more than 34000..... please suggest me some alternative.
int i = 0;
int content[]= new int[(int)size];
FileInputStream fstream = new FileInputStream(fileName);
DataInputStream in = new DataInputStream(fstream);
while(i<size)
content= in.readUnsignedByte();
i++;

• How to find the last element of a byte array

Dear all,
I have a byte array with a max lenght of 1024*50 bytes. In that array I store the bytes read from a file. How can I find where the array ends (i.e. which is the last valid element of the byte array)?
Thank you for your help.
Best Regards,
JIM

I want to send files over TCP connection using BufferedOutputStreams and BufferedInputStreams. The first side (e.g. the client) sends a file (e.g mp3 file or jpeg image) to the server using the code
public void sendFile(Socket s, String FileName) throws Exception
BufferedOutputStream out = new BufferedOutputStream(s.getOutputStream());
BufferedInputStream in = new BufferedInputStream(new FileInputStream(FileName));
int len = 0;
while ( (len = in.read(buffer)) > 0) {
out.write(buffer, 0, len);
in.close();
out.flush();
}(The client does not close the BufferedOutputStream out because other files will be sent afterwards)
Then, the server receives the file using the code:
public void receiveFile(Socket s, String FileName) throws Exception
OutputStream out = new BufferedOutputStream(new FileOutputStream(FileName));
InputStream in = new BufferedInputStream(s.getInputStream());
int len = 0;
while ( (len = in.read(buffer)) > 0) {
out.write(buffer, 0, len);
break;
out.flush();
out.close();
}(likewise the InputStream in is not closed for the same reasons).
In order the server to receive the file and stop reading the BufferedInputStream, I will have to make some modifications to this part of the code,
while ( (len = in.read(buffer)) > 0)so as to know when the whole file has been received.
Thus, even if I send the length of each file, I will not be able to read it. Could you please recommend me a solution?

• How to add 16 bit message sequential number to the byte array

hi
iam trying to implement socket programming over UDP. Iam writing for the server side now.I need to send an image file from server to a client via a gateway so basically ive to do hand-shaking with the gateway first and then ive to send image data in a sequence of small messages with a payload of 1 KB.The data message should also include a header of 16 bit sequential number and a bit to indicate end of file.
Iam able to complete registration process(Iam not sure yet).I dnt know how to include sequential number and a bit to indicate end of file.

HI Rolf.k.
Thank you for the small program it was helpfull.
You got right about that proberly there will be conflict with some spurios data, I can already detect that when writing the data to a spreadsheet file.
I writes the data in such a way, that in each line there will be a date, a timestamp, a tab and a timestamp at the end. That means two columns.
When i set given samplerate up, that controls the rate of the data outflow from the device, (1,56 Hz - 200 Hz), the data file that i write to , looks unorderet.
i get more than one timestamp and severel datavalues in every line and so on down the spreadsheet file.
Now the question is: Could it be that the function that writes the data to the file, can't handle the speed of the dataflow in such a way that the time stamp cant follow with the data flowspeed. so i'm trying to set the timestamp to be with fractions of the seconds by adding the unit (<digit>) in the timestamp icon but its not working. Meaby when i take the fractions off a second within the timestamp i can get every timestamp with its right data value. Am i in deeb water or what do You mean!??
AAttached Pics part of program and a logfile over data written to file

• How can I convert AudioInputStream to byte array ?

Hi
I want to convert audioinputStream to bytearry?
i try like this
ByteArrayOutputStream baos = new ByteArrayOutputStream();
int c = 0;
while (true) {
try {
c = audioInputStream.read();
} catch (IOException e) {
// TODO Auto-generated catch block
e.printStackTrace();
if (c == -1)
break;
baos.write(c);
but...
java.io.IOException: cannot read a single byte if frame size != 1
occur...
plz help me..

Hi,
I haven't tried, but from the API doc I would suggest:
Retrieve the frame size by
int fs = audioInputStream.getFormat().getFrameSize();Allocate a byte array with at least this size and read full frames:
byte[] buf = new byte[fs];
int sz = audioInputStream.read(buf);Write also to your baos a full frame:
baos.write(buf, 0, sz);

• Creating a byte Array dynamically.Urgent Help needed.

Hi there,
I need to create a byte Array with the values
derived from the array and then am passing this byte array
to a method.
Example :
public static void main(String[] args) throws IOException {
char chars[] = {'a','j','a','y'};
byte[] b = {
(byte) chars[0],(byte) chars[1],(byte) chars[2],(byte) chars[3],
//** Send name to a server.
sendRequest(b);
This is all right.
But here I know the size of the character array chars.
If it had more than 4 characters or less than 4,
is there a way to create the byte array dynamically based on the values in the character array?
Please can some one help me with creating a byte array on the fly?
Has anyone understood my question please?
A response is much much appreciated.

The actual problem is this.
The byte array already has some fixed values to it
and i need to append the values of the character array
to this byte array
ie
char chars[] = {'a','j','a','y'};
byte b[] = {
// Predefined values
(byte) 0x01, (byte) 0x7E, (byte)0x03
// I have to add the values from the array here
(byte) chars[0], (byte) chars[1]....
How can I add these values.? The size of the character array
can vary
