Display sharepoint list based on logged in user

Hi,
I have a sharepoint list which has 10 items. My friends and me use that list to add and delete items.
What i would want is when my friends log in they should be able to see only their items in the list and when I log in I should be able to see all items in the list.Is this possible?
Kindly help as i am new to sharepoint and this is my first project.Learning by doing :)

Two ways of doing this stand out.  I think it'll boil down to whether you want to allow your colleagues to look at other tickets.
In the list Advanced Settings, you can configure the list so that users can only see and edit items that they create.  This is useful if you want to enforce security.  SharePoint has a feature known as security trimming which will hide all content
not relevant to other people
Views are also possible.  You can create views that filter dynamically against the account logged in.  This can be set up on any column in the list that uses your company address book for its data.  So, the "created by" column would work
as well as any additional columns you might make.  This way is "smoke and mirrors" though and doesn't apply security to items assigned to other people.

  • Populating values of a field based on logged in user

    Hi,
    My requirement is as follows:
I have a LOV input field. The LOVs for the field should be populated based on the logged in user. Every user will have a group of values associated with him.
    Example:
    USER_ID/NAME BUSINESS_UNIT_ID
    1 B101
    2 B108
    1 B106
    1 B103
    2 B105
    2 B119
if the logged in user is 1, the LOV field should have values as B101,B106 and B103.
Can someone help me in implementing this?
    Thanks,
    Ashok

    Hi,
looks like you have to populate LOV based on logged in user. so make a view object which will return respective values by taking user id as input(bind variable).
    execute the vo after loging.

  • Drop down list based on log in username - php mysql

I have a drop down list of client names on a php page that filters a second drop down list of site names.
At the moment, any user who logs in can see the entire list of clients, however I want to filter the list based on their username log in.

SELECT DISTINCT * FROM qry_test WHERE username = colname GROUP BY client_name ASC
Where do I drop the code for the colname info?
    name:colname
    type: text
    default value: -1
    run time value: $_SESSION['MM_Username']
    Thanks!

I don't do PHP but it would be something like:
    $sql = sprintf (SELECT DISTINCT * FROM qry_test WHERE username = %s GROUP BY client_name ASC, $_SESSION['MM_Username'] );
or you can just embed the session variable into the sql string.
But why are you using the GROUP BY clause? If you just need a distinct list of names, use the DISTINCT keyword and reduce your select list to only the needed column.

  • How to display specific page based on type of user login? Urgent!!!

I have 2 type of users e.g. Type1 and Type2 if Type1 user logs in i want to display a Type1Page page and if Type2 user logs in i want to display Type2Page page as home page.
If there is any article already on this forum give me clue or Please give a workaround for this one.
    Thanks

If you're setting the homepage in user preferences, I think you could do better. If they're "types" of users, set the default home page for their respective groups, not individual users.

  • How to go about changing settings based upon logged in user

    Hi all,
I'm wondering if anyone has any thoughts on how one would go about changing a property on a node based upon the logged in user.
For example, say you have a path property at /apps/myComponent/settings.path=/content/dam/genericfolder that for an author have the value of /apps/myComponent/settings.path=/content/dam/sandbox, and for an approver have the value of /apps/myComponent/settings.path=/content/dam/approvalsandbox

    Hi Ove,
Thanks for the tip on the user role. I had thought about taking that approach, however, leveraging the user role and properties associated with it would be the correct approach if writing custom components. What I am looking for is a way to take existing components, and essentially use them in context of the user.
For example, say if you are trying to give a sub group of users access to a subset of the DAM directory, and you don't particularly wish to hack around the existing WCM DAM component, there is a setting in the tree navigator (/libs/wcm/core/content/damadmin/treeRoot) that lets you specify where the root of the tree is. (There are more settings to work with, but this is just one used to illustrate.)
If you can change the property based upon the user, that gives you the functionality without altering code.
I would like to know if this is possible, if this is an inherently bad practice, if so why, and whether there may be another alternative out there which lets you avoid having to alter the code of an existing component.
    Thanks again for answering.

If i am logged in as xelsysadm the lookup presents all groups.
If i am logged in as IT administroter the lookup presents only the IT Related groups(EX:IT-Development,IT-Testing....).
If i am logged in as HR administroter the lookup presents only the HR Related groups(EX:HR-System,HR-Finance...).
like this we have contains so many administrators.
We are desiding the administrators based on user form field.

    Hi Rajiv,
    Thank you for quick reply,
When i am login as IT administrator and i provisioned user to AD it showing the IT Related groups in ad child form based on your Suggestion.
If i logout and login as a HR administrator and i edit the child process form of the same user still its showing IT Related Groups only.If I revoke and provision user to ad again with HR administrator this time its showing HR Related groups in AD Child form.
I think based on the requester its showing the values.
But i want to filter groups based on logged in user.
EX:If i login as IT administrator and provision the user to AD in Child form its showing the IT Related groups only its correct.
If I logout and login as HR administrator and i edit the same user AD Child form its showing the IT related groups only its not correct.this time it shows only HR Related.
    Any solution....
    Thanks in advance.

  • Displaying custom content based on user's roles

    Hi experts,
I have been asked to look for a solution to display custom content based on the current user's roles.
Basically It would be a simple page (or several pages I don't know yet)  that displays links to others systems in the enterpise landscape. Links have to appear but they may be "desactivaded" for some users.
So i'm thinking of a custom portal app in java that display this page embedded in an iview, a test to check the current user permissions and some css / javascript magic to do the trick.
What do you think ? Would there be another solution that I'm missing which doesn't require development ?
I'm open to any suggestion / technology
    Regards.

    Sounds good,
You can also consider using Service Map iView or Workset Map iView if those links should point to other portal navigation locations:

  • Is there a way to find out the GUI version of a logged in user

    Hello all,
SAP provides a method in CL_GUI_FRONT_END_SERVICES called GET_GUI_VERSION. This works fine for supplying the version information for the logged in user.
Unfortunately, it doesn't have any input parameters to specify "ANY"  user name.
I'm looking for a way to find out the gui version of all logged in users.
Tables USR41 will give me a list of the logged in users
I can then use USR21, ADR6 and ADRP to get more user info.
But, I can't find a way to determine what GUI version each of the users is using.
    Does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks
    Ed Baker

We have done in a different way. ie we have used userexit SUSR0001 and coded using
    * Collect SAPGUI info of the user logging on
    call function 'RFC_SYSTEM_INFO' destination 'SAPGUI'
      importing
        rfcsi_export = i_rfcsi.
Here i_rfcsi-rfcsaprl contains the version info of SAPGUI
and updated this info in a custom table.

  • How to submit a multiple-selection list box in an Infopath Sharepoint form as multiple entries on a Sharepoint list?

I would like to be able to submit an Infopath form with a multiple selection list box in Sharepoint as multiple entries on a Sharepoint list.
For example, a user has to complete the following fields:
    First Name:
    Last Name:
Favorite Color (can select more than one):
    [] Blue
    [] Red
    [] Yellow
    [] Green
If the user picks blue AND red and submits the form, the Sharepoint list would feature TWO entries, both with their first and last names, but with different colors in the "Favorite Color" column.
Please let me know if there is a way to do this. Any guidance would be helpful!

    Hi redhotc,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to set multiple default values for a multiple checkbox list in InfoPath form.
I did a test with SQL database table. I set three default values for the checkbox list by adding three values field under the group field(Data->Default values), each value field is for a default value. Then publish it to my SharePoint site, everything
was fine. Please have a try as the below link:
    http://www.bizsupportonline.net/infopath2010/pre-select-items-multiple-selection-list-box-infopath-2010.htm
Note: if you are using SQL databse table, you may need to enable ‘Allow cross-domain data access for user form templates that use connection settings in a data connection file’ in CA. More information, please refer to:

  • How can I filter a Sharepoint 2007 libarry list based on current user login?

    Hi all.
I would like to know how I can filter a SharePoint library list based on current user login.
Suppose I have created the followings:
    1) A SharePoint form library containing bunch of uploaded InfoPath form data.
    2) The InfoPath form template contains a promoted text field called "TargetUser" to store user domain login (ex: DOMAIN\JOE) and every InfoPath form file in the library has a valid domain name stored in the "TargetUser" field.
I have created a custom view for the form library and would like to filter this view so only items whose "TargetUser" field matches current user's login ID are displayed.
I went to Edit View page to customize the view and tried to use the [Me] function but I got a "Filter value is not a valid text string" message instead when clicking OK. Apparently [Me] returns a Person/Group data type and the filter cannot compare its value
    to that of "TargetUser".
I tried using text functions (ex: TEXT([Me],"") hoping to extract default string value from [Me]. The filter accepts the parameter without any error but the resulting fitlered list does not display any items at all.
I have googled this subject for hours but I have not found any solution.
It would be greatly appreciated if anyone can help me to create a functional filtered list.
FYI, my SharePoint 2007 installation is just WSS 3.0 + Form Server. I do not have MOSS 2007 (so no MOSS 2007 web parts or web services).
    Thank you.
    Jason

Here's what I usually do in order to accomplish this.  Ultimately you'll need to have 2 different fields.  There's the one you already have, with DOMAIN\username stored in it.  Then you'll need an additional field as a "person" column type.
    Call it "TargetPerson" or something.
Create a sharepoint designer workflow that runs each time an item is created or changed.  One action:
    Set FIELD to VALUE.
The first FIELD is "TargetPerson", the VALUE is your "TargetUser" field.
Once this is done, then the person value is stored in the person field.  This is the field that you can filter by "TargetPerson" is equal to [Me]
