Displaying Icons in 10g runtime (On Linux RHEL 5)
Hi, I've read several threads on here about displaying Icons in 10g runtime.
Currently, I am able to get the Icons to work on my localhost Windows machine and the icons display fine.
However, my icons are not displaying when I copy them over to the Linux machine. My forms compile correctly. I've made sure they were case-sensitive.
I modified the Registry.dat file to point to the path where I so tried the icons (in my case, /home/OraHome_1/yb/ico, where I've put all my icons in a file called icons.jar).
I also modified the default.env file to point the CLASSPATH to this directory as well.
Am I missing something on Linux, because this works on Windows.
Thanks,
Chris
I do not remember making changes to the CLASSPATH, either way it would be good that you double check your steps against the metalink note 232413.1 - How to Deploy Iconic Images via a JAR File in Forms 9i/10g.
As a reference, you can also take a look at this thread icons not displaying in oracle forms.

Displaying icons in 10g web forms
Hi,
I was wondering if there is anyway I could use my jar file to display my images in my form. I created a jar file with images and I want to use them for my forms. The problem is other developers are using their own images from certain directories. In the registry.dat file they have a directory default.icons.iconpath=/icons/ already in place and in the .cfg file they have imageBase=DocumentBase. In my configuration for my form i put in imagebase=codebase but it seems that the other entry overrides mine because the images do not appear.Is there any way I could use my jar file to view my images without changing what other developers are using or would I have to put them in the directory with all the other ones.
thanks
RichieHi,
I've tried putting the jar file in the directory it mentions in the registry.dat file but that still does not work. I've also tried leaving the parameter in the .dat file blank and setting my imagebase=codebase and i am able to see the icons. My problem is that other developers are already using it using the documentbase and setting the .dat to a specific folder. I just thought there might be a way to read my jar file without interfering with the way the others are displaying their images. Its easier to have all my icons in a jar file then putting them all in a directory.
thanks

Installing oracle 10g and 11g client on the same Linux RHEL 5.4 host
Is it possible to install Oracle 10g and 11g client on the same Linux RHEL 5.4 host and have the application switch between 10g and 11g? and how would the 10g and 11g be installed?
Thanks for your reply.
Typeically if 10g is installed in /home/roacle/product/10.2.0, are you saying that for 11g, it would be /home/oracle/product/11.0.0 ?
How about switching the application? Does changing the ORACLE_HOME and PATH environment variable setting enough ? Let's say from
ORACLE_HOME=/home/oracle/product/10.2.0/client_1 to /home/oracle/product/11.0.0/client_1 -

Display icons in Network ui element
Hello everybody!
Im trying to display some hierarchies in a Network ui element. Generally, this works fine, but I'm not able to display icons with the elements inside the applet. The examples in the JNet/JGantt Developer Documentation use <icon/>-tags with the path to a gif file in the Type Repository section like this
<type name="SomeTypeName" inherits="SomeBaseTypeName">
<icon space="5">apps/orgchart/chief.gif</icon>
</type>
and the Type Repository documentation tells me to
Specify the relative address of the URL in relation to the code base of JNet.jar
(a file in your own JAR. file: apps/slm/icon.gif, for example). If
the relative path starts with apps, JNet automatically adds the
missing com/sap/jnet. We recommend that you use the relative path
wherever possible, because you can store the icon graphics in the same directory
in Perforce as the type repository.
But how would I determine the relative address of my icon files stored in my web dynpros src/mimes/components/<component name>-folder inside my WebDynpro jar/ear/whatever in relation to the code base of the JNet.jar which - I guess - would reside inside the WebDynpro runtime or somewhere else on the server, but not inside my own jar ? Or am I wrong about this ?
Thanks a lot
MichaelHi Christian!
That's what I tried in the first place. The result is something like
/usr/sap/XXX/J02/j2ee/cluster/apps/myCompany.com/my~webdynproapp/servlet_jsp/webdynpro/resources/myCompany.com/my~webdynproapp/root/Components/package.path.to.my.component/imagename.gif
but the applet does not find the image files. Since the JNet documentation says to specify the relative path from the JNet.jar code base, I'd have to find out where that is and calculate the relative path, but possibly this will only work inside a single jar (which I don't have since the JNet.jar is somewhere among the portal WebDynpro runtime components, I guess).
Preferrably, I'd like to have a look at a working example using the Network ui component with external icons inside a java WebDynpro. Propably someone has done that before...
Thanks

also before you do what is suggested on the url posted by Mufalani,
it seems that you should do the following:
Check existence of udev raw mapping rule file /etc/udev/rules.d/60-raw.rules
On RH/EL5, udev raw mapping rule file /etc/udev/rules.d/60-raw.rules should exist by default as part of the util-linux package, for example:
# ls /etc/udev/rules.d/60-raw.rules
/etc/udev/rules.d/60-raw.rulesCreate a custom udev raw mapping rule file, /etc/udev/rules.d/61-oracleraw.rules say, for example:
# touch /etc/udev/rules.d/61-oracleraw.rules3b. Add udev raw binding rules to /etc/udev/rules.d/61-oracleraw.rules file
Add the udev raw binding rules to the /etc/udev/rules.d/61-oracleraw.rules file, for example:
# cat /etc/udev/rules.d/61-oracleraw.rules
# Raw bind to Oracle Clusterware devices
ACTION=="add", KERNEL=="sd*", PROGRAM=="/sbin/scsi_id", RESULT=="360a98000686f6959684a453333524174", RUN+="/bin/raw /dev/raw/raw1 %N"
ACTION=="add", KERNEL=="sd*", PROGRAM=="/sbin/scsi_id", RESULT=="360a98000686f6959684a453333524179", RUN+="/bin/raw /dev/raw/raw2 %N"If migrating to RHEL5/OEL5 from an earlier Linux version that relied on /etc/sysconfig/rawdevices file for persistent raw device bindings, the following script can be used as a basis for generating your RHEL5/OEL5 udev rules. Note, the script does not factor device name persistency.
#!/bin/bash
grep -v "^ *#" /etc/sysconfig/rawdevices | grep -v "^$" | while read dev major minor ; do
if [ -z "$minor" ]; then
echo "ACTION==\"add\", KERNEL==\"${major##/dev/}\", RUN+=\"/bin/raw $dev %N\""
else
echo "ACTION==\"add\", ENV{MAJOR}==\"$major\", ENV{MINOR}==\"$minor\", RUN+=\"/bin/raw $dev %M %m\""

Problems with Java 1.4.2 component on Linux RHEL
Hello,
My Linux RHEL was hacked and my HDD was backed-up.
Now, I need to reconfigure my RHEL environment to get software up and running again.
I am required to install j2sdk1.4.2_05 as a prerequisite for Oracle Forms/Reports Services 10g on my Linux Red Hat server.
Looking under /user/java, I have 2 sub-directories called j2sdk1.4.2_05 and j2re1.4.2_05.
The required subdirectories already seem to be installed.
However, when typing the commands :
- which java
- java -version
I get a screen long output message.
I do not get a confirmation that my Java 1.4.1.2 component is installed.
I included the Java installation path in the PATH variable located in the .bash_profile file.
1) How can I make sure my java component is installed properly ?
2) Do I need to reinstall the Java package again ?
Regards,
PaoloWhere does that prerequisite come from?
On linux x86, Oracle provides the j2se jdk/jre for OracleAS itself, meaning OracleAS Forms & Reports services 9.0.4 does not require you to install a JDK. I think that actually the requirement is that you should not install any JDK. Of course, some other software might require you to install 1.4.2 java sdk.
You can find the AS 9.0.4 docu libraries here:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/appserver10g.html
(see docu library B13597_05, Platform tab for installation guides) -
Is it possible to display icons instead of text in the JMenuBar? I know you can make menu items with icons/text, but the menu itself I'd like to use an icon.
The only possible workaround I can think of is to use a toolbar (with icon buttons) and attach action events to load a JPopupMenu... however, I have to add code to figure out the dynamic positioning and to hide/show the menus appropriately.
Is there a simplier way?I do not remember making changes to the CLASSPATH, either way it would be good that you double check your steps against the metalink note 232413.1 - How to Deploy Iconic Images via a JAR File in Forms 9i/10g.

How to display iconic images using forms 9i
Hi,
i had created a simple push button ,and made its properties iconic=yes and icon file name =c:\temp\save
i had copied the save.GIF file in the c:\temp path
also i had made necessary changes in the orion.web file
and registry.dat
actually i had the metalink document 203846.1 and followed all the step written in that doc.
but then also during run time i am not able to see the icons.
Can you give me a sample code having only one push button
and all the changes in different files to make the icons appear in web.
I had tried all the steps so pl give me the sample step by step code.
Thanks ,
Kumar IyerHi Kumar,
I think if you follow the oracle note 203846.1 more or less it should be fine. I took a little exception on step 7 which requires modifying the registry.dat file.
I ignored the step 7, try this in forms builder for button property
1) icon filename=save
2) create jar file for icons under c:\temp directory, using the command
C:\Temp>jar -cvf icons.jar *.gif
please note that file save.GIF should be save.gif since java is case sensitive.
3) modify the following entries in file <9iDS_HOME>\forms90\server\formsweb.cfg
archive_jini=f90all_jinit.jar,/forms90/icons/icons.jar
imageBase=codebase
so this should help in your test form to display icon at runtime.

I tried this command
$ rpm -qa --queryformat "%{NAME}-%{VERSION}-%{RELEASE} (%{ARCH})\n" | grep libXp
I have following libxp already installed
libXpm-3.5.5-3 (i386)
libXp-1.0.0-8.1.el5 (i386)I've seen similar problems when I've forgotten to install all the required RPMs. So double check with the docs and the latest readmes, it might be your solution
