Displaying item value on basis of pop up lov value

Hi ,
I have created a form on which i have a pop up lov item whose values are getting displayed on basis of a table column.Now my requirement is that when a user select a value(for ex: say an code i.e 123) from pop up lov then on basis of this value an another value pops up which shows the description related to this code.I have this description in another column of same table from which i have displayed pop up lov values.
I tried to implement this by creating a display only item on form and taking source value of this item from sql query returning single value as code is primary key but I am unable to fetch value.I have written the following query:
select model_code from BL_VEHICLE_ENGINE_NAME where catalog_code=:p9_catalog_code
Here p9_catalog_code is the item displaying pop up lov.
when i am specifying a particular value rather than bind value as (select model_code from BL_VEHICLE_ENGINE_NAME where catalog_code=123) then the description corresponding to this value is getting displayed through display only item.
How can i fetch value from pop up lov and utilize that value to display required description.Is displaying description through display only item correct or is there any other way around through which this description could be displayed more effectively.
Thanks
Abhi

Hi Abhi,
Instead of pop up lov you can use cascade lov ie when u have data like say if u select code from ur table 123 and it has more than one description then u can use cascade lov it will query upon the first lov what u required.
Or coming to ur problem
for code pageitem say p1_code u are using pop lov (you can try select list instead of pop up lov )
and for description u r using display column.
and give the source as return single query only
select descp from table where code=:P1code.
Hopes this helps you
Thanks & Regards

  • Display items don't seem to synchronize with block values.

    I have the following simple code in a command button of a form:
    DECLARE
    CURSOR PS_CURSOR IS SELECT * FROM PS_TITLE_SNS ORDER BY TITLE_SN;
    PS_CURS PS_CURSOR%ROWTYPE;
    ALERT_BUTTON NUMBER;
    BEGIN
    OPEN PS_CURSOR;
    LOOP
    FETCH PS_CURSOR INTO PS_CURS;
    :MAIN.TITLE_SN := PS_CURS.TITLE_SN;
    :MAIN.OLD_2004 := PS_CURS.ORIGINAL_2004;
    :MAIN.NEW_2004 := PS_CURS.AMOUNT_2004;
    :MAIN.OLD_2005 := PS_CURS.ORIGINAL_2005;
    :MAIN.NEW_2005 := PS_CURS.AMOUNT_2005;
    ALERT_BUTTON := SHOW_ALERT('WAIT');
    IF ALERT_BUTTON = ALERT_BUTTON1 THEN
    MESSAGE('SAVING ...');
    insert code to save the change here
    ELSE
    MESSAGE('NOT SAVING ...');
    END IF;
    END LOOP;
    END;
    The problem is that in the first iteration of the loop, even though the values in the MAIN block are initialized before the SHOW_ALERT call, those values are not there when the alert pops up. I run the debugger and I see that the block items do have the values assigned. How can I ensure that the items are displayed in the first iteration of the loop?

    I didn't when I asked the question but figured it out afterwards. But thanks very much for your NO_ACKNOWLEDGE as I was already getting frustrated with why the message didn't seem to sync either. NO_ACKNOWLEDGE fixed it.
    Thanks again!

  • Problem with building conditional display items

    Dear All,
    Please help as I am using APEX for the first time.
    This my requirement during form dispaly in tabular format. There is one display item QA_TIER(not a database item). This item value is computed based on the condition below.
    I created a display item with :
    Source Used : Always, replacing any existing value in the session state
    Source Type: PL/SQL Expression or Function
    Source value or expression:
    begin
    if 2<=(select decode(&Leg_Req,'Y',1,0)+decode(&maj_funct_chg,'Y',1,0)+
    decode(&maj_tech_chg,'Y',1,0)+decode(&maj_ui_chg,'Y',1,0)+
    decode(&maj_def_met,'Y',1,0) from dual) then
    if &Customer_Priority = 1 then
    return 1;
    else
    return &Customer_Priority-1;
    end if;
    ELSE return &Customer_Priority; end if;
    end;
    Note : All reference with '&' are the actual field name.
    When running the page i get the following error message:

    hi thanks for the help.
    I tried this time source type SQL Query:
    with both suggestions
    1.
    select (case when

  • Display More then one column in to POP LIST OF VALUE Item

    Dear All,
    i want to display More then one column in to POP LIST OF VALUE Item like POINTNO,CITY_NAME,REGION_NAME,POSTEL_CODE .
    How can i display these 5 Column in to POP UP LIST OF VALUE Item.
    Thanks
    Vedant

    Hi,
    Here is my example how to get the address data from address book:
    on page, where is the IR report with many columns (as a popup page) there is a Column Link of URL type - you can choose any colulmn .
    In the URL address type: javascript:passBack('#ID#', '#NAME#', '#SURENAME#', '#COMPANY#', '#STREET#', '#CITY#', '#POSTAL_CODE#', '#STATE#' );self.close();
    self.close function close the popup after fetch.
    It will call a passBack function declared in page header.
    Example:
    <script language = "JavaScript">
    function passBack(v_addr_id, v_name, v_suren, v_comp, v_street, v_city, v_postal_code, v_state) {
    opener.document.getElementById('P2_ADDRESS_ID').value = v_addr_id;
    opener.document.getElementById('P2_ADR_NAME').value = v_name;
    opener.document.getElementById('P2_ADR_SURENAME').value = v_suren;
    opener.document.getElementById('P2_ADR_COMPANY').value = v_comp;
    opener.document.getElementById('P2_ADR_STREET').value = v_street;
    opener.document.getElementById('P2_ADR_CITY').value = v_city;
    opener.document.getElementById('P2_ADR_POSTAL_CODE').value = v_postal_code;
    opener.document.getElementById('P2_ADR_STATE').value = v_state;
    </script>
    If you want set only one value, just make a similar function with only one parameter.
    I hope it will help to you

  • Conditionally display items based on null LOV value

    Hello,
    I've seen several examples that do what I'd like to do but with different implementations. Perhaps someone can steer me in the right direction...
    I have a pop-up lov that pulls a list of names from various places. If, however, the name cannot be found I'd like to display a few text boxes where the user can enter a new name.
    For my list of values I have configured the following:
    Display Null: Yes
    Null Return Value: -1
    Null Display Value: Not Found
    My HTML Form Element Attributes has: onchange="doSubmit()";
    My Source section has:
    Source Used: Only when current value in session state is null
    Source Type: Static Assignment (value equals source attribute)
    My entry text boxes have a condition specified:
    Value of Item In Expression1 = Expression 2
    Expression 1: P4_LOOKUP_NAME
    Expression 2: -1
    I also have an unconditional branch to this same page (Page 4) that sets the value of P4_LOOKUP_NAME to P4_LOOKUP_NAME.
    I cannot seem to get this item to display though...any thoughts?
    Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

    jhammer,
    I like the concept. This would require a custom popup lov - something that can be a little tricky/time consuming the first time around. The popup lov would probably have to create new entries via Ajax to be able to pass back the correct ID/display values to the parent window on close.

  • ALV List Display - Is it possible to sum up the subtotal values of  field

    Hi Experts,
    We hav a requirement to do subtotals of the price field for each unique PO Line item, and also to sum up the subtotal values ie. only the subtotal values needs to be added irrespective of the repetation of the po line items in the report.
    PO Number                  PO Item              Price
    XXXXXXXX                 10                      20
    XXXXXXXX                 10                      20
      Subtotalled                                          20
    YYYYYYY                 10                      10
    YYYYYYY                 10                      10
      Subtotal showing                                10
    We want the total of price to be           30 ie (Subtotal value of XXXX, 10 = 20 and YYYYY,10 = 10 ) but currently do_sum is been used in the fieldcat of the report which displays all the occurances of the record... = 60(202010+10)
    Kindly help asap.
    Thanks,
    Rosy

    Hi rosy,
    the question pops up to why you have duplicates in the display table. If you
    DELETE ADJACENT DUPLICATES FROM
    the output table, everything should be fine.

  • Portlet Item Attr: "Link That Displays Item in New Browser Window"

    I have been searching the forums for a similar experience, but haven't found anything quite like this:
    I have a couple of portlets. One is a Discoverer Portlet, the other is something more basic: The "Developer News" portlet from the 9iAS Community portlet provider.
    After defining the portlets and looking at them, I edit the page and click the Edit button (little pencil) to edit the attributes.
    There are radio buttons for Display Options.
    One option is: "Link that Displays Item in New Browser Window."
    When I select this, OK, and then go back to the page, **the portlet doesn't show at all any more! There is no link, no nothing. Note that I have defined a Display Name, which should be the text for the link.
    It would seem that this feature flat out doesn't work.
    This technique for a popup works fine for an "Item" defined in an item region.
    Anyone?

    Yes -- I did do that after reading an article on metalink about such issues.
    This actually changes the problem.
    When I add the "Display name and image link" attribute to the region, I now do get a link.
    However, clicking it brings up an undefined Discoverer portlet.
    It works great for non-Disco portlets. For instance, I was able to pop up the "Developer News" portlet from the Oracle 9iAS Community portlet provider.
    I think the problem is that the link that Disco produces does not provide enough information to bring up the particular portlet. For instance, the URL does not have the workbook name, the worksheet name, the parameter values, etc.
    If anyone uses Disco w/ the portal, I would be curious to hear if anyone can reproduce this apparent bug / limitation.

  • How to force Portal not to display item content for a custom item

    Hi,
    I've read in several places questions about rendering an Item in a custom way, without letting portal
    display the item content, if you read along I've discovered a SIMPLE WAY to force portal not to
    display the content item.
    As per bugs and requests on metalink it seemed that in many versions of Oracle Portal (mine is 9.0.4.1)
    this is impossible, since even if we remove the "Item Content" from the list of displayed attributes in the
    region, Portal does display it anyway, just after every other Attribute.
    - Re: using an item type procedure
    - Metalink BUG # 3998251 "ENH: SHOULD BE ABLE TO HIDE "ITEM CONTENT" FOR TEXT ITEMS OR NEED A NEW ITEM TYP" and is being looked into internally whether it is feasible to include this in future releases.
    - Metalink Doc ID:      Note:290534.1          Subject:      Unable to Hide the "Item Content" Attribute for a Text Item
    Mine scenario was the usual one:
    -oracle portal 9.4.0.1
    -a custom item based on custom text (so as to have the RTE to edit HTML).
    -A few attributes that help me define the class of an enclosing DIV tag that I wanted to put (a class and an ID)
    -A plsql call associated to the custom item, with the flag "display inline" checked
    -The dirty HTML generated by the built-in Oracle RTE (with BODY and HTML tags enclosing the actual HTML)
    -The region that will contain the item is set so that just the "Function Call" is (or should be) displayed
    I wanted to control entirely the display of the item text, while enclosing it in a custom DIV tag.
    After a few tries, one of which involved forcing an HTML comment around the item content that Portal stubbornly
    displayed, I've discovered this simple way. I don't know hom much this way is portable, but is done entirely with the APIs.
    In the stored procedure that displays the item, that I encolose, i just do:
    1) retrieved the ITEM querying WWSBR_ALL_ITEMS;
    2) updated the ITEM via WWSBR_API.MODIFY_ITEM, passing as display_otpion the value WWSBR_API.FULL_SCREEN!!
    Here I try a little explanation:
    An item just created has FULLSCREEN=1 and INPLACE=0. This way the stored procedure is executed
    AND the item content is displayed.
    WIth the modify_item, the item gets FULLSCREEN=1 and INPLACE=2 !! This seems strange since the docs
    tells that inplace can be 0 or 1. But this works.
    I've played with the WWV_THINGS table directlry, and setting INPLACE to 0, 2 or 3 works as well, while
    if it is set to 1, it behave the usual way.
    The trick is to have FULLSCREEN to 1 while INPLACE is not set to 1.. and this was the easiest solution.
    I'd like to receive a feedback from Oracle regarding this behaviour.

  • Automatic status heritage from parent item to child item in Instal Base R12

    Hi,
    Do you know please how to deactive automatic heritage of status from parent item to all child items of instal base when updating parent item status in R12?
    When I update status of package in Instal Base, statuses of all child items are updated automatically with same value.
    I am using R12 standard API's and I don't see any parameter that can help ...
    Must I see the Ebs parameters ? Profile options?
    Thx

    Did you check if the serial ABN656 is the parent and has child components under it? Check the below query for the same. Additionally you can also navigate to Oracle Installed Base Agent User responsibility, search for ABN656, click on the record, navigate to Configuration tab and see if this serial has any child components.
    select *
    from csi_ii_relationships cir
    ,csi_item_instances cii
    where cii.serial_number = 'ABN656'
    and cii.instance_id = cir.object_id

  • Multi-Line Display Item

    I need to populate a multi-line display item in Forms 6i.
    The problem that I am having is the actual assignment to the display item.
    For example:
    :DISPLAY_ITEM := '10';
    :DISPLAY_ITEM := '11';
    This makes the display item show the value '11' only.
    I need '10' on the first line and '11' on the second line, etc.
    Thanks in advance,
    Patrick

    well, you can write:
    go_block('BL_BLK');
    first_record;
    :display_item:=10;
    next_record;
    :display_item:=11;
    but for this- 1. block should have one navigable item. 2. display_item should not be the first item of the block.
    Otherwise you will need to create a non-databse text_item with width 0 on the canvas for that block.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to process a transaction where a customer needs an Item on Trial basis?

    How to process a transaction where a customer needs an Item on Trial basis.
    It essentially means that the item should not move to customer's stock. It still has to be the part of inventory valuation.
    Couple of options i tried out but i did not find them satisfactory. Such as:
    1) Create an Internal requisition (eventually an Internal Order) and receive the item in the diifferent Warehouse (Same OU) in locator enabled sub inventory. and Locator would capture the customer address to an extent.
    2) Create Consignment Subinventories for customers and store the items in those Subinventories. Although items have been shipped to customer. This way we can still have the item as a part of valuation.
    If at all you have done similar kind of stuff or if you could think of better and logical solution, can you please guide me on this?
    Thanks in Advance.

    Lived through that couple of times.But nothing out of the box. But here are some question:
    1. What would you do when you physical or cycle count for this stock? This is physically not here, but you are showing that in your inventory valuation account and showing quantity as well.
    2. What do you do at the end of demo/trial period? What if the customer wants to buy instead of returning? Are these serial controlled items?
    3. Do you use installed base also?
    To overcome the first question what we suggested is to park it in a temporary account (say Demo or Trail account) instead of COGS account when you ship. Can be easily done with account generator and a different order type.
    If your process is to return no matter what (at the end of the trial period), you may want to create an RMA and book it against the original order as soon it is fulfilled (extension). This helps you to see how many products are out there that are yet to be returned. Link these two orders line_id to line_id (as we do in copying).Keep the original order line status in In Demo or Trial and do not close the line. Once you receive the product against the RMA close the original line.
    What about the cost (assuming std cost)? If you are shipping new products on trial basis, they are going out at full cost. When the customer returns them the value is not the same (probably). If yes, do you receive into a different organization where the cost is different or to the original organization? If it is different, the demo account may have some value left out.
    Originally when shipped
    Cr Inventory 100
    Dr Demo A/C 100
    If you return into a different organization where the cost is say 50% (assuming you are using std cost).
    Cr Demo A/C 50
    Dr Inventory A/C 50
    You can see there is a balance of 50 in the account.
    If the customer wants to buy, do you bring the goods back (logically) and ship them again? This is a clean way system wise but pain in neck process wise.
    In order to achieve process efficiency not to involve people, you can do this. You can just create bill only order line and invoice the customer. But what about the relieving value from Demo account recognizing COGS account? You have to perform a logical inventory transaction and account for this to cr Demo A/C and Dr COGS A/C at the original cost.
    Also demo may be shipped to customer X but they may want to you to invoice to parent company.
    I wish there is a clean solution available in Oracle as a standard, but could not find one. Hence a lot of extensions. Still there are lot of more questions, but I limit to these here.
    Yes, this Devil is Still Alive :)

  • Sorting on non-displayed items - can it be done ?

    Hi,
    I'm very new to Discoverer (and this forum), so apologies if I'm covering old ground.
    I've created a simple discoverer table report and the folder I've based the data on has a number of columns that determine the sort order i.e. called 'activity_type_sort_order', 'activity_sort_order', 'enclosure_order_order' - this is because the related columns activity_type, activity and enclosure are VARCHAR but contain numeric values.
    Hence, the existing application displays the data in the correct order in the Forms and Reports without showing the user the underlying columns that are determining the order.
    I want to do something similar in Discover i.e. produce a report that displays the columns activity_type, activity, enclosure but sorts the data based on 'hidden' columns activity_type_sort_order, activity_sort_order and enclosure_sort_order.
    I tried creating my first Discoverer report and it seems to need the activity_type_sort_order, activity_sort_order and enclosure_sort_order as displayed items in the workbook in order to all the rest of the data to be sorted.
    Is there any way I can sort using these fields but not actually display them ?
    I've read that I can create an alternate sort in the EUL but I've got 1000's of values.
    Can anybody help ?
    Many thanks
    mknipe

    Hi,
    You should be able to use the hidden sort option. In the sort tab add the sort columns and then change the sort type to be hidden.

  • Populate multi record display item

    Hellou gurus!
    I have forms 10g and i need to populate display item in enter query mode. My problem is that I have table T1 with some static values. Table T2 is through ID connected (reference) to table T1 1:1 cardinality and T2 table also have reference to T3 table.
    I have block B2 based on table T2 and in this block I have multirecord item for inserting and updating new values for T2, but in this block ii also have no DB, multi record display item (because i don't want to allow editting in T1 table records) for diplaying static values for table T1. I want to display all static values from T1 next to the editable values in T2 (T2 multi record field is not insert yet). I tried for loop, select into but it not work. T1 values need to be selected before I started to inserting values into T2 items, but off course they need to be referenced It is hard to explain but i belive you understand.
    Can you help me how I can populate multi record item??

    You have to write the code again for your second list item....
    group_id RecordGroup;
    list_id Item  := Find_Item('button.tyear');
    list_id1 Item  := Find_Item('button.tperiod');
    status NUMBER;
    rg_name varchar2(40) := 'recgroup';
    BEGIN
    ----------------------------- LIST
    clear_list(list_id);
    group_id := Find_Group(rg_name);
    IF NOT id_null(group_id) then
        Delete_Group(group_id);
    End if;
    group_id := Create_Group_From_Query(rg_name,
    'select vm_year, vm_year from fwqgl.vouchermaster
    group by vm_year');
    status := Populate_Group(rg_name);
    Populate_List(list_id, group_id);
    /* --------------------SECOND LIST ITEM...BUT REC. GRP NAME CAN BE SAME,better to use another name if you need to retrieve list and store qry..other wise the fol. code is enuf-----------------------*/
    clear_list(list_id1);
    group_id := Find_Group(rg_name);
    IF NOT id_null(group_id) then
        Delete_Group(group_id);
    End if;
    group_id := Create_Group_From_Query(rg_name,
    'select vm_period, vm_period from fwqgl.vouchermaster
    group by vm_period');
    status := Populate_Group(rg_name);
    Populate_List(list_id1, group_id);
    END;Edited by: Dora on Dec 5, 2009 10:41 AM

  • Display item number in US certificate of origin

    Hi,
    Currently in US certificate of origin, it doesnt display item number in item details.
    Sapscript: SD_EXPORT_FUCO
    FunctionPool: SAPLV55E
    Include Name: LV55EF24
    I had copied SD_EXPORT_FUCO into ZSD_EXPORT_FUCO and added V55ENAFT-POSNR to display item number but there is no value in that field.
    In the standard sap Function Pool(SAPLV55E) and Include(LV55EF24),
    this
    *   PERFORM GET_ITEM_NUMBER_NAFT.      "Item number
    *   PERFORM FILL_ITEM_NUMBER_NAFT.     "Item number
    were commented. I guess this is the reason why V55ENAFT-POSNR is empty.
    Is there any other field that i can used to display item number in that sapscript?
    Appreciate advice.
    Cheers!

    Hi,
    Just a suggestion, you can write a perform in the SAP script since you made a Z copy of it. Write the code for fetching the POSNR in the subroutine program. You could take help of the select query from where to fetch the data from that perform that is commented in the SAP programs.
    In the script:
    /: PERFORM GET_POSNR IN PROGRAM Z_GET_POSNR
    /: USING                                                     // parameters to pass
    /: CHANGING                                              // parameters to return back
    In the program Z_GET_POSNR
    FORM GET_POSNR TABLES IT_INTAB STRUCTURE ITCSY IT_OUTTAB STRUCTURE ITCSY
    Write code to fetch POSNR
    Pass the value back to the script
    ENDFORM
    IT_INTAB and IT_OUTTAB have fields NAME and VALUE.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Vanessa
