Displaying text editor

Hello Experts,
I have a pushbutton on a screen and clicking on that would display a text editor along with long text of that pushbutton.I dont know how to create container etc, so I am not able to make out how to solve this problem.Can anyone please help?

hi priya,
if your reqiurement says that i need to display text editor and save it to the internal table  then use
the following code.
TYPES: BEGIN OF ty_text,
         text(74)  ,
        END OF ty_text.
DATA:
      t_terms  TYPE STANDARD TABLE OF ty_text with header line.
EDITOR-CALL FOR t_terms.
loop at t_terms.
write t_terms-text.
endloop.
enter a valid text
and press save .
the data will be reflected back in your table.
check for EDITOR-CALL syntax for other opeartions like display and giving your own title.

  • Long Text Editor displaying & incorrectly.

    Hi Experts,
                    Currently I am facing an issue that the & sign is not being displayed correctly in the Long text editor. It is shown as '<(>&<)>' in some places and '&' in others. I understand that the <(> symbol is used as protection for special symbols like &, however this is occuring in some places and not in others. Is there any package which fixes this  problem??
                      Please help.
    Thanks,
    Aditya.

    Hi Naimesh,
                       My problem is not with the display of variables in the editor. Consider the case wherein transactional data is displayed in Long text. For example if you go to IW22 and decide to change the text for the notification description. In case you give a & sign in the long text -  it will be converted to  - '<(>&<)>' , when I log on to see the changes I made the next time. However I want the editor to stop this conversion. Please reply.
    Thanks ,
                 Aditya.

  • Display instantly the length of the text entered in the rich text editor

    Hi everybody,
    I'm developing an apex application with apex 4.1.1 and Oracle 11.2.
    I have a page in which I have a form that allows to create a new message on the database.
    A message has a title, description, text and date.
    For the text I use the item "rich editor text". The problem is that item doesn't show the length of characters entered (character counter for the textarea). In the database the corresponding column is varchar2(2000). What I do is a validation after submit that checks if the limit 2000 was exceeded or not.
    But what I want to do more is to display instantly the length of the text entered in the editor. I have tried to do that through a dynamic action. But the event "onChange" for the item "rich text editor" didn't work.
    Has anyone any idea about that issue?
    Thanks for helping.
    Kind regards,

    sorry about that, I missed that tidbit in your OP... well I think there is a good reason why there isn't a count character option -- due to the hidden "html" characters responsible for the "richness" (bold/color, etc) applied to the text would be difficult to count true characters.. if I was bent on doing this, I'd continue using the item you are using, but have a HIDDEN text area that is updated via javascript onkeyup for each keystroke (again, keeping in mind you'd have to filter certain keys) and then that intelligence could be used. I would probably dig through the javascript responsible for the rich text editor (is it still fckeditor??) -- there might already be code in there that isn't clearly visible to you that does this already.. alas, I see now the validity of your challenge.

  • JHS setting for the Display Type of Rich Text Editor

    In the "Display Type" settings for an item, there is no option in the JHS Definition Editor to choose a "Rich Text Editor" type. Is that intentional or an oversight?
    Thanks,
    Gary

    Gary,
    don't know why it's left out, but you can implement a rich text editor with a custom template (that's the answer I got when I asked the question several months ago). Here's the template code I use for implementing a rich text editor in a table:
    #macro (EDITOR_POPUP)
    <af:popup id="${JHS.current.item.bindingName}Popup" contentDelivery="lazyUncached" eventContext="launcher">
    <af:dialog modal="true" resize="on" title="#TEXT_EDITOR_TITLE()" id="${JHS.current.item.bindingName}Dialog">
    <af:richTextEditor rows="10" columns="100" #ITEM_VALUE_IN_FORM()
    simple="true" id="${JHS.current.item.bindingName}EditorText"/>
    </af:dialog>
    </af:popup>
    #end
    #set ($popupId = ${JHS.page.addPopup("${JHS.current.item.bindingName}Popup","${JHS.engine.fullNamingContainerPath}","#EDITOR_POPUP()")})
    #set ($popupDialogId = ${popupId.replaceAll("Popup","Dialog")})
    <af:panelLabelAndMessage #ITEM_RENDERED_IN_TABLE() #ITEM_PARTIAL_TRIGGERS() #ITEM_HINT()>
    <af:richTextEditor #ITEM_ID_IN_TABLE() #ITEM_VALUE_IN_TABLE() #ITEM_PROMPT_IN_TABLE()
    #ITEM_REQUIRED_IN_TABLE() #ITEM_ROWS() #ITEM_COLUMNS()
    #ITEM_READ_ONLY_IN_TABLE() #ITEM_ADDITIONAL_PROPERTIES()
    #ITEM_DISABLED_IN_TABLE() #DEPENDS_ON_ITEM_PROPS_TABLE()
    simple="true" partialTriggers="${JHS.current.item.bindingName}EditorLink ${popupDialogId}">
    #REGULAR_EXPRESSION_VALIDATOR()
    #VALIDATOR_BINDING_IN_TABLE()
    #NUMBER_CONVERTER()
    </af:richTextEditor>
    <af:commandLink id="${JHS.current.item.bindingName}EditorLink"
    #JHS_PROP("rendered" $JHS.current.item.renderEditorLinkInTable)
    immediate="true" partialSubmit="true">
    <af:showPopupBehavior popupId="${popupId}"/>
    <af:image source="/jheadstart/images/editor.gif" id="${JHS.current.item.bindingName}Icon"
    clientComponent="true"/>
    </af:commandLink>
    </af:panelLabelAndMessage>

  • Rich text editor (apex 4.0)

    using blue gray theme and a page with a rich text editor. Expanding the rich text options displays the text body p below the text area that persists even if you close the rich text options. Anybody know how to get rid of that behavior?

    I think your mixing 2 technologies.
    At 1 side you have xml in combination with xsl (style sheets used in BI Publisher and FOP) to generate your pdf. And at the other side you have HTML...
    XML and HTML are 2 entirely different technologies which you can not mix this simple. I investigated the same problem as you had, and in the end I ended up using jasperreports instead of FOP.
    Maybe BI Publisher has some html regions which you could insert into your word document but I doubt it cause more people have asked the same question on this board...
    So my advice: use jasperreports (also it is free for commercial usage)
    Success

  • Line breaks in text editor

    Hi,
    I am facing the problem that when I read the content of the
    texteditor, store it in a javascript variable, and then write it
    again into the editor area, all line breaks (not html line breaks,
    just the line breaks for the code structure) are gone.
    For Example if the content of the Editor is the following:
    Test line 1
    Test line 5
    If I know call my function the value of the texteditor will
    be somethign like: "Test line1 Test line 5"
    I tried finding the linebreaks and replacing them (either \n,
    \r or \n\r) but had no success in doing that.
    My code of the function:
    var theDom=dw.getDocumentDOM();
    var temp = theDom.documentElement.outerHTML;
    theDom.documentElement.outerHTML="";
    theDom.documentElement.outerHTML=temp;
    So I assume Javascript and dw are using different formats,
    but I cant find much information about whats being used.
    Any help appreicated!
    Best,
    David

    Hi Brent,

  • How to call text editors in smart forms?

    In my module pool program,I included text editors for three fields.I want that fields in smart forms too.I need to know how these text editors are called in smart forms?

    Hi achu,
             Any text that gets saved has a corresponding entry in table STXH table. It usually has the following parameters : TDOBJECT,TDNAME,TDID and TDSPRAS.
    What you have to do is create a new text element and under general attributes ---> Type  - give Include Text.
    And in the include text you give the above four parameters which correspond to the text you want to display.
    P.S. Do not forget to check the 'No error if no text exists' checkbox.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to call a text editor from a module pool program

    Hi All,
    I want to call the text editor from my modulepool program. Enter my text in it and save it.This text needs to be saved in a Z-program with 2 fields as primary keys. The next time while I call this same record from this z table, I need to fetch the existing text and display it.
    The user now can put in additional text and can again save it. This process thus goes on..
    If anyone has worked in this type of scenario, then please help me in doing this.
    Useful answers will surely be rewarded.
    Thanks,
    Susanth.

    Hi Sushanth,
    We save the text not as fields in a ztable directly but as a text.Please check the format below since it is based on a working code....
    first you need to create a text in s010 transaction...
    there should be some key based on which you plan to save the text..imagine it is Purchase order then..PO+item numner is always unique.eg:0090010(900PO/item10).so in the code you can append these two and they will be unique..so you can always retrieve them,overwrite,save them anytime you need

  • How to create a text editor, the one like header text in PO

    Dear Ones,
    My requirement is that I want to create a text editor for storing terms and condition plant wise.
    The editor should be the one like header text in PO. It can take end number of lines.
    I created the text object ('TERMS') in table ttxob and text for it in table ttxot.
    Also created text id ('L000' and 'L001') in table ttxid and text for it in table ttxit.
    Now using FM read_text, save_text and edit_text, I have written a program but it does not save the data.
    When I run the program initially it displays me blank, then I enter some data into it. Again when I come back it displays the data and also saves the edition. But if I close my session the data is gone.
    It means it is not actually saving the data in database. My code is as below:

  • Newbie help with sample Studio app. "Plain Text Editor"

    I'm trying to make the jump from AppleScript to AppleScript Studio, and because I want to eventually write a document producing application I thought I'd start with the textbook example "Plain Text Editor" included with Xcode. I think I see how menu items are connected to "Target/Actions," and I was able to build and run it without difficulty. It's remarkable how little AppleScript had to be written to produce a rudamentary text editor. But in playing with the built application, I noticed that the Revert menu item does not work exactly as expected.
    If you create a text document, and then make some change to it, and then click the Revert menu item, you get the expected little dialog asking if you want to revert to the most recently saved version, but if you then click the Revert button, the text displayed in the text view object does not revert to the original. However, something is happening, because whatever code is behind the Save, Close, and Quit menu items does seem to be "aware" that the Revert item has been invoked: because if you click one of these after Revert, the "do you want to save changes?" warning doesn't appear, just as one might expect.
    The Revert menu item seems to be connected to a "Target/Action" called "revertDocumentToSaved:" which sounds perfectly reasonable. But does the fact that Revert doesn't cause the displayed editing text to revert mean that (a) there is a bug in the code behind this Target/Action, or (b) that the writer of this textbook example just didn't bother to do everything needed for the Revert item to work in an intuitive manner?
    Whichever the answer, what would I do to make it work properely?
    It seems like there must be some sort of connection between the text view object in the editing window, and the Close, Save, Quit suite of menu items, because the behavior of these is dependant on whether or not there are unsaved changes in the text view object. But looking through the Inspector for this object, I don't see any, neither AppleScripts, nor Outlets, nor Target/Actions. Where and for what should I be looking?

    I think -- and I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong -- that this is a place where AppleScript Studio's implementation just isn't done right. Either they intended to add a "revert" handler somewhere and forgot, or else they meant to have it send an existing message and didn't.
    I haven't done any document-based applications -- heck, I've only dabbled slightly in AppleScript Studio -- so there may be a "deeper" answer to this, but you might consider just hooking the menu item up to send its "choose menu item" handler to your document script, and have it react accordingly.

  • How to Set Up TextEdit as an HTML or Plain Text Editor?

    How to Set Up TextEdit as an HTML or Plain Text Editor?

    Well,
    There are 5 choices to choose from on the page. In the description of the choices at the bottom of the page there are 7, and the two additional choices talk about having to first have registered the site with SSO. So...I'm interpreting that as meaning that other 2 possible choices would be displayed if the site is registered with SSO. That, plus the fact that the page which describes how to add the site to SSO seems to think that the SSO choices are displayed in the wizard.
    So, no, there's no "exact launguage" that says what the reason is for the choices not being displayed. Can you point me to some exact language that tells me how to get those choices displayed?

    Regards,
    Sonal

    Hi Sonal,
    I have faced similar issue with respect to module pool with container on the screen.
    Try using the following on back action....
    call method wf_init_edit->delete_text.   (wf_init_edit -> editor reference - type ref to cl_gui_textedit )
    Also we can free the container using
    call method wf_init_cont->free.             (wf_init_cont -> container reference - type ref to cl_gui_custom_container )
    Hope it helps.
    Regards,
    Byju
