Distributing common ABAP code among distributed systems

We are implementing a second SAP instance for a subsidiary and plan to implement other instances for other subsidiaries.
Is there any good practices or methods for keeping common ABAP source code we develop synchronized across all the SAP systems? Systems are 4.6c and 5.0 (ERP)

Best Practice for Distributed TREX NFS vs cluster file systems

Hi,
We are planning to implement a distributed TREX, using RedHat on X64, but we are wondering which could be the best practice or approach to configure the "file server" used on the TREX distributed environment. The guides mention file server, that seems to be another server connected to a SAN exporting or sharing the file systems required to be mounted in all the TREX systems (Master, Backup and Slaves), but we know that the BI accelerator uses OCFS2 (cluster file systems) to access the storage, in the case of RedHat we have GFS or even OCFS.
Basically we would like to know which is the best practice and how other companies are doing it, for a TREX distributed environment using either network file systems or cluster file systems.

I would like to add one more thing, in my previous comment I assumed that it is possible to use cluster file system on TREX because BI accelerator, but maybe that is not supported, it does not seem to be clear on the TREX guides.

ABAP code to connect 2 systems.

Hi,
My requirement is such that I need to read the data from a cube of one BI system and write it into the cube of another BI system.
I am able to read the cube data through "RSDRI_INFOPROV_READ" function module.
2 questions:
1) Is the above solution possible?
2) Is there ABAP code to connect 2 systems?
Please help with some suggestions.

You can call function modules in other systems using RFC - so you probably need to create a RFC wrapper function module for your 'RSDRI_INFOPROV_READ'. Then you can create/look up a RFC destination for the other system using SM59.
All you have to do to call a RFC function in another system, is to add the destination to the function call (if the destination is setup up right):

DESTINATION 'DEST_NAME'

Abap Code to populate source system id

Hi , so kind of All of you,
please help me, i have written the code in one to one mapping in transformation routine in BI 7,0 right click on zzsourcsys and go tp rule details. No syntax errors in the code but when i load there is no value populating to zzsourcsys . i have defined zzsourcsys as 12 char. can u suggest where it is going wrong, i checked in tools assignment of sourcesystem id is there in my system.

How to Stop at Source System's Abap Code from BI Infopackage Trigger

Hi Experts,
I have enahanced 2 fields to some standard data source, that fields data is comiong fine to RSA3 in Source system.
i am not getting 2 fields data to BI PSA, but that 2 fields data i am getting at in RSA3 Tcode source system.
i have tried all the ways to get data to BI PSA, but no luck.
so, while running infopacke from BI i need to stop at Source System's Abap code where i have wriiten the code for those 2 fields.
so, please any one can explain, how to stop at source system's Abap Code once i trigger infopackage from BI.

ABAP code are cut by the system

I created ABAP code in start of update rules. After saving and re-opening, 10-12 right symbols of the code are cut by the system (see example) :

Can somebody knows how I can correct it?

Distributing iBooks VPP Codes

We are setting up iPads to be used in training and have a need to distribute purchased ePubs via iBooks. VPP codes for book titles have been purchased from the Education VPP Store, along with VPP codes for apps. Distributing the apps is a non-issue as we can use our MDM solution, AirWatch to do this. Distributing the iBooks VPP codes is the real issue. A user can manually go to iBooks and click Redeem but we are trying to find a more efficient way to get them the codes for up to 10 books each user will need to redeem. These iPads will not be set up for email so we cannot send the codes using that method. Apple Configurator doesn't seem to have a method for this nor does AirWatch.
Would appreciate any thoughts on the subject.

How were the VPP codes distributed to the iPads? If you used Apple Configurator and had the iPads "Supervised" you could return the VPP codes to Configurator by unchecking all apps in the Supervise - Apps window. Then after restoring to the earlier backup (supervised) you could re-add the apps.
If the VPP codes were distributed by unsupervised configurator or by MDM, unfortuantely you won't be able to re-use the codes. If the codes were emailed out, the redeeming Apple ID could redownload the apps under Purchases.

How can i export my custom abap code from one SAP system to another

is there a way to export my custom code to any other SAP system.
not the same client or server. say for ex: i develop a code in my system remotely and want to provide the same for my client to export into their system.
maybe same versions but diff systems.
is there a way to save as binary file or something?

Yes u can do it.
In SE38 give ur report name and click display.
Now u will see ur code.
In the MENU follow the path:
Utilities-->More Utilities --> Upload/Download --> Download.
Now ur report can downloaded to any format of file.
Ask ur client to upload ur report in the similar fashion..

I am looking at an issue with users not getting specific group policies.
After searching a number of client computers I found that the following error
The user '*' preference item in the 'User - 6th Form Students Policy {E03166E7-A848-48B5-AA93-97B848AA9C13}' Group Policy object did not apply because it failed with error code '0x80070003 The system cannot find the path specified.' This error was suppressed.
I can find the folder in the Sysvol folder on all of the domain controllers.
The issue with end users seems to be that the proxy settings for internet explorer is not being applied.
Potential problems?

Hi all
In administering this policy I am a little confused.
We have a policy that distributes proxy settings in the internet explorer maintenance settings section - however when opening this policy up in GPO editor the internet explorer maintenance section is not present.
I plan to apply the settings via User/preferences/control panel settings/ internet settings (or registry settings from article) however I am unable to edit the settings for internet explorer maintenance and these will persist. Ideas????

The recommended approach always used to be to use transaction SM69 to define a "soft" command name to the operating system command so that it could be configured to work across Windows, Unix etc. For example:
Command name OS Type OS command Parameters for operating system command
Z_FILE_MOVE SunOS Customer mv ? ?
You can then call function module SXPG_COMMAND_EXECUTE (quite well documented) to actually perform the command passing in the appropriate number of parameters.

Enhancement-ABAP Code-Customized Field issue

Hi Experts,
Currently I am working on the BW3.5 version. We are using the standard SRM standard extractor 0BBP_TD_SC_1 and we enhance same extractor(populate the filed through CMOD - ABAP Code) with one customized field also. We are having issue on the customized field data which post from SRM system. I have verified the field value and value is fine in RSA3 in SRM source system. But while posting into the BW(PSA itself), its loading correct & wrong value. When i check the PSA for the particular load, It looks little strange. In the PSA, I can see correct value on my first record of the same SC and then next records has incorrect value of the same SC. Currently I am using the ODS as a data target. So finally i am getting the incorrect value on the customized field.
Ex Scenario:
Ex Customized Field: ZORGID
In SRM source system RSA3 Extractor Checker value:
Shopping Card No: 100
Customized Field: ZORGID=1
Shopping Card No: 200
Customized Field: ZORGID=2
In BW posting-PSA:

How can I modify data from a Transparent Table without ABAP code.

How can I modify data from a Transparent Table (like TCURR), and important thing is I want do all that with no ABAP code here. It is like that we always do that in a Oracle database use TOAD or PLSQL third party tools, with no script code here.
I had fond that there is a way can do that:
1, type 'se11',and Display Database table 'TCURR', click Contents, then click Execute to display all data
2, type '/h' and let debugging on
3, select one of this data then click 'Display',enter in debugging system.
4, then make a breakpoint in the code. But... display a dialog let I type a 'ABAP Cmnds', I want to know what can be type in for that?
and, My system is ECC6.

Your approach (with Vijay's suggestion) MAY work. However, depending on how tight security is at the company that you are working at you may or may not be able to acutaly change the value of the SHOW field to EDIT. This will be especially true if you are working in a Production environment. Vijay's other comment is true as well. This is not a recommended approach to change data (especially data with a financial impact like TCURR) in a production environment. The auditors will not be impressed.
Explore the option of a maintenace view or look at tcode TBDM to upload a file which includes daily rates from providers like Reuters or try tcode s_bce_68000174 which is a maintenance view on TCURR.

How to insert a new line item in VA01/VA02 by using ABAP code?

Hi Gurus
i have a very tough requirement. the customer wants to insert a free goods after an item has been populated in VA01/VA02 automatically according to some certain rules. the input material may be a main material of a sales BOM.
for example. let's suppose there is a material A who has two sub-material B and C which is maintained in a sales BOM via CS01/CS02. when the material A has been input in the line item in VA01/VA02, its quantity input and after the ENTER key has been clicked, another material D may be displayed in a new line as a gift if the condition met. the condition relates to customer/material/quanity and these information are stored in a Z-table.
on the other hand, if the material A is only a single material(not a BOM), the gift(material D) will also be filled automatically if the condition met.
i have already enhance the FM cs_bom_explosion to filfill the requirment for BOM materials. whereas it is very hard to find the enhanment point for the single material.
so my question is where is the correct place for me to insert the ABAP code, which decides whether the gift should be given or not and furthermore inserts the new line item into XVBAP. i tried to use MV45AFZZ, whereas the data is always inconsistant if a new line has been inserted. it is very strange that there is no temperary internal table storing line item data input in the table controal of VA01/VA02. system reads the line item data , line by line, via a system kernal function call.
