Dividing an image into Hexagonal Grid
Hi Guys,
I have an image of a human body which needs to divided into Hexagonal Grid pattern and the hexagons should be highlighted on mouse rollover and also clicks. It will be time consuming if I make these hexagons manually coz they will around 1000 in numbers.
Also, I need to zoom the hexagons on clicks. Could you suggest me a way to do this?

you'll need to use the bitmapdata class if you don't want the part of the grid that's outside the body to be visible.
the best place to check for tutorials is via google. i'm not sure you'll find anything specific to your current task. you might need to learn about the bitmapdata class and take it from there.

How to divide an image into 100+ grids

I have a problem here;
I need to divide an image into 100 or more grids on client side and I need to get the id of a clicked grid on server side. I found some mapping ways but it seemed too hard to achieve. I achieved to get coordinates of mouse click but this time if user uses control button + mouse scroll, all coordinates of the image changes. Can anyone offer me a solution.ı am working on adf faces they wanted me to do that on server side. But I am very new at this and I am really confused right now. How can I map 100+ sub images like one big image. I saw some examples on web but they include just two or three mappings but how to do this mapping with many?? I tried to do this by taking coordinates of click and calculating which grid is clicked but everything fails if user resizes the window.
If there is a way to do that I was thinking of storing path of every grid on a list at server side and putting an image on the screen for every element of that list and by this way I could easly get which grid is clicked by just taking the id of clicked image. Can anyone help me to do this.??? -

Hi Willi, thanks so much for responding! Below is the image I need to divide in half. The left half where it says "Click here for the definition" links to a landing page where people can read the definition of the Hebrew Word. The right half links to an audio recording of the Hebrew word being spoken aloud. I am trying to figure out how to use the scissors or knife tool in Adobe Illustrator and am having no luck. Plus I believe there's a way to include URLs on each separated part, but I can't get past figuring out how to cut it. My background is not graphic design

Dividing Scanned Image into Separate Photos
I would like to divide a scanned image into separate photos. I understand Photoshop Elements can do this under Images > Divide Scanned Image. But, I can't find this command in Photoshop CS5. Without it being done automaticaly how can I divide the image using CS5? Thanks.

I have to display into a data grid, in Flex 2, 2 columns:
first column ( "Images") must contain a picture with an object and
second column (" quantity") must contain the amount of that object
that I want to buy. The problem is that I must take the name of the
image from an .xml file, specified like this:

The second column must contain a textbox so I can input a
number of items for each picture ( can be also a combobox where
from I can select some value, from 1 to 20 for example).

I am using Flash Builder 4.6, BlazeDS, and Hibernate. How to store a webcam snapshot into the MySql Database. I stored Form Items by using RemoteObject into the database. But I failed to store webcam snapshot. I captured that image on Panel component.I converted that image to ByteArray. Now I want to save that image into the database. Please help me in this regard.

I am using Flash Builder 4.6, BlazeDS, and Hibernate. How to store a webcam snapshot into the MySql Database. I stored Form Items by using RemoteObject into the database. But I failed to store webcam snapshot. I captured that image on Panel component.I converted that image to ByteArray. Now I want to save that image into the database. Please help me in this regard.

I'm sure this is something that's been covered in another post (or even in the help portal) but I think my wording in my search terms are not correct or... I don't know, because I just can't find what I'm looking for.
I want to know how to add multiple images into one file/one image, both horizontally and/or vertically. To give you an idea of what I mean, check out :

Cs5 - images have weird grid-like/pixelation distortion i cant get rid of! help!
i've just downloaded the trial of photoshop cs5 (it took ages mind you!) and when i go to open (or create) a file that is larger (eg 1000x750 pixels) there is this weird grid that distorts the image (it's not the grid you can turn off and on or the grid that shows the actual pixels). when i open a smaller file there is no grid and the image is perfectly clear and normal - but when i zoom out there is a grid. also, when i'm zoomed out (eg 66% but sometimes from even 200%) the distortion happens, whereas if i zoom closer it disappears.
it doesn't distort the image itself, but distorts the colours in parts of the image.
i've experimented enlarging the canvas of a smaller image and placing a larger image into it on a different layer, but then the grid affects not only the larger image but the smaller as well, like it is stretching the colours to the edge of the canvas, or trying to pixelate/fuzz the image. however the grid doesn't affect the whole canvas, just the bits above and to the side of the larger images (mostly).
also when i zoom in/out gradually the squares of the grid enlarge and change size (both bigger and smaller).
so i don't know what the problem is, and any help/suggestions would be much appreciated as i need to use the program for a uni assignment due in a couple of weeks!!
thanks!Hey- I have the same issue. When I started using cs5 I noticed this grid/distortion right away. At first I thought it was my wacom tablet (I use an Intuos 3) but its not. Its very annoying because I cant put my fingure on why this is happening. Anytime I ask a friend about it who normally knows alot about photoshop they tell me its that grid option thing which I have already turned off. I have included a screen shot of what the issue looks like. Any ideas anyone?

You may find the grid helpful. Go to View>Grid. It will not print, but will help to orient you. You can set up the gridlines to suit via Edit>Preferences>Guides and Grid. If you want to partition the picture in to 4 uniform pieces, it would be Gridline every 50%, Subdivision 1. Also, go to View>Snap to>Grid.
Set up the Rectangular marquee tool: If the picture is 6" wide & 4" high, enter width=3in & height=2in.on the tool's option bar. This will be a fixed size.
Click and select one quadrant, press CTRL+J to place this quadrant on a separate layer
Repeat for the other 3 quadrants
You should end up with 5 layers : Background, and layers 1, 2, 3, 4. -

Copying Folders, but not images into another Catalogue
Hi,
I currently have two external hard drives where I have all my bird photos classified into folders by the name of the bird. There are more or less a hundred. I have one external hard drive where I import all the photos to and the other external where I backup the first external hard drive every night. They are getting full and I will soon have to purchase two more, but I was wondering how I could export all the folder hierarchy into the new external hard drive. It surely will be a chore to have to create each one again.

GloriaI tend to agree that it doesn't make sense to make a whole new parallel set of folders merely for disk space reasons. Equally, it makes no sense to have a new Catalog per drive. All that would be tedious to do and then doubly tedious to maintain, for example if a new folder is required in both places. Lightroom's Catalog can work just as easily with images stored on one drive, as on another, or across both.
So moving perhaps half of the present set of folders, assuming there is some sensible way to divide them (even if that is just A-M, and N-Z) onto the new drive, would allow you to continue using them there, with space to add more images into the same folders (alongside the present ones) and managed by the same Catalog.
It would also allow you to continue using the ones that remain on their current drive, with space now to add more images there, again managed by the same Catalog.
If in future some of these need to move around again to other drives (say, you buy a setup large enough to store it all) then that is no problem.
Or if the new drive is big enough, all the images and their folders could move there... which would then need a minimal and trivial change so far as your current Catalog is concerned (a couple of clicks to re-browse the parent location of the entire "tree" full of birds). Everything carries on functionally either side of this kind of a behind-the-scenes change.
Analogy: the actual nature and current location of the money in my bank account is of no real interest to me, so long as money's available when I require it, and so long as I have confidence that good practice is happening which will avoid the bank going out of business or refusing to let me have my money in the future. The bank is in fact moving this money around constantly; lending it, investing it and so on. And by virtue of my relationship with the bank, all kinds of services become possible, which would not be if I just stacked banknotes under the mattress. The account balance on the ATM screen - or to return to LR, the fact that the image still works - is what matters to me the customer.
