IF you have a need to reload Essbase, it is nice to have the source data available. but there are other ways to accomplish the same result. Export the Essbase database, Do backups, etc.

How to retrieve the data from SAP database.

Hi Pals,
How to retrieve data from SAP R/3 System to my third party software. I will make my query little bit more clear. There is a list of assets entered and stored in the SAP system. For example 3 mobile phones.
1) Mobile 1- Nokia
2) Mobile 2 - Samsung
3) Mobile 3 u2013 Sony
Now think I do not know what all assets is there. I have to retrieve the data and get it on my third party software. Just display the list of assets. Lets say SAP XI is also there. Now how will I map it and get the details.
Please give me step by step method.
N.B: Just to read the data from SAP database.
Please make the flow clear step by step.

Hi,
You can use RFC or ABAP Proxy to make synchronous call with SAP.
Under RFC or ABAP Proxy Program you can get the data from SAP tables. Direct access to SAP Database is not preferrable even if its possible.
The better way to go for RFC or PROXY.
You will send the request from Third party system and the it will be as input parameters from RFC/ Proxy it will response based on it.

SQL Server Import Export Wizard fails while trying to retrieve the data from FastObjects Database

When trying to import data from FastObjects database to SQL Server 2008 R2 using import/ export wizard we get the following error message :
"Column information for the source and the destination data could not be retrieved, or the data types of source columns were not mapped correctly to those available on the destination provider."
Clicked on View button, the source data is retrieved correctly.
Clicked on Edit Mapping button, the Import Export Wizard failed with the below error message:

Does the issue persists after you use the "Write a query to specify the data to transfer" option instead of “Copy data from one or more tables or views” option? If so, the issue may occur due to incorrect data type matching between the FastObjects database
data types and SSIS data types. In this condition, I don’t think it is necessary to upgrade the SQL Server version. Since you can open the Column Mappings dialog box, please try to modify the data type mapping manually.
In addition, the issue seems to be the same as the issue described in the following blog:

Inserting the data into other schema..

eg: A and B two schemas are there
In B there is a table with the name EM_Rep. When i was writting the pl sql code to insert the data into B.EM_Rep from A Schema it is throughing an error like
PL/SQL: ORA-00942: table or view does not exist
Note: I have given the grant like

You could also look into the partitioning synchronisation seeing as you have already developed the partitions.
You can set outline changes to pass the same way as the data or vice versa and it keeps track of changes in .chg files.
Have a review of this functionality, it may be the simpler way to complete.

How to specifically sort the data in a database using c#?

I have a problem in c# that require sorting of names of students in a sql database and i want it to be specific, i used data grid view to view the data of the students as shown below:
Students First Name:
Ann
Antoinette
Brenda
Judith
Lester
Santos
Suzie
Tim
if i type in a letter or abbreviation @ a textbox1 for example "s", all Names that starts with letter s will be sorted first so the output now of the query will become:
Students First Name:
Santos
Suzie
Ann
Antoinette
Brenda
Judith
Lester
Tim
So if i type j, all that starts with j will be first, and so on.
I need help for this problem coz it is so hard for me to output the students with this kind of sorting and is there a code or query string related to this problem?

Is it possible to create a copy of entire database, not the data, but just database structure?

This question is related to EXPRESS edition.
Let’s say that I have MyDatabase2014 and I’ve been populating it with some data during the year 2014. Before the end of the year, I want to prepare another database named MyDatabase2015, which should be empty, but of course it should have
all tables, relations, indexes and stored procedures just like MyDatabase2014. The idea is just to change a connection string and to continue using the same app for the same job.
So in SSMS, I right-clicked the database, choose script database as / create to / new query, but I didn’t get what I wanted. In query window I’ve got just create database statement, and below that few dozen of alter database set ansi this
or that statements, and set many other things. However, no table creation was scripted. Also, no stored procedures have been created, and about users, and other security objects better not to start to talk about.
I could have achieved that simply by right-clicking databases node and select new database. So what’s the point of “script database as”?
Does this work in SQL server editions other than EXPRESS?
When it comes to express edition, what’s the best practice to get the empty copy of a database?

How I load all the data in a database table into a cache?

Lets assume I have a lookup table I want to load it upfront into the cache so that the application can use this data from cache. One way is to write code to create a map from the database and call putALL. Is there any better approach to this?
Another thing is if the data is more than 1 GB and if I construct a map of one GB before putting it into the cache the JVM might crash. The question is how do I distribute upront loading of the cache to multiple JVMs. Do I have to use invocation service or is there any thing out of box.

I'm using BO XI 3.1 SP2 and looking for below data to retrieve:
1. I would like to pull the data for universe as below and here my parameter would be my Universe name
Groups
Reports
Groups: which are having access to that universe?
Reports: Reports which are builds using that Universe
2. Also the below data is required for the universe is:
List of Users those are having access to universe. User active is user's status enabled or disabled. And last column is whether user is having permissions to edit the data provider or not.

User Group
User Active
Data Provide Edit
Please let me know how I could fetch this data from CMS database.

There is a spreadsheet in BOB forum under download that extracts the users and groups, etc fromt he CMS database.
You can customize it to get the universes and reports.
User ID - yes available
User Name - yes Available
User Group - yes available
User Active - yes available
Data Provide Edit - I didn't see it in that spreadsheet but I am sure you can find it.

How to unlock the data from other user while editing

I have created 4 maintenance views for a table. While editing data by using one view, I must be able to edit other data of the same table using other different view. But it is showing "The data is locked by user pagidala and can be displayed only. do u want to display locked data?". I must not get this error, it must permit me to edit the data. How it will be possible?

I think Its not possible because If there is such type of option there will not be data security.
i.e. while your maintaing the data in table others can change it simultaneously and it can lead to errors
If you wish Go to SM12 and remove the lock manually

In case of bdc data transfer takes place from flat file into sap system ie the file existing in sap system to sap sytem
where is bapi's r remotly enabled function modules which are assigned to some business objects n used to transfer the data between different business partners who are using different systems other than sap.
not only that...
when you plan to upgrade your system version then bdc willnot support those upgradations where as bapi's will support.
