Dock shifts between monitors

I am running 10.9.2 in at 2 external Apple Cinema (circa 2006) monitors +1 MacBook Pro onboard monitor setup.  One external is connected via Thunderbolt, the other via HDMI.  I have the dock set to be on teh bottom of the onboard monitor.  From time to time when selecting something from the dock the dock will shift to the HDMI montor bottom.  If I then go into System Preferences and switch the dock to left or right and then back to bottom the dock returns to its proper place.
Any one seen this behavior and know how to stop it?

Hello!
Not sure if anyone figured this one out but you can move the dock from the Display Preferences.
In my example the dock is in the center screen, represented by the white bar at the top. To change it to a different screen, click and drag the white bar to another screen! So if I want to change the bar from center screen to the right screen, the final product would look like the second pic.
Hope this helps some folks!

  • Big Color Shift between exported H264 mp4 and Program Monitor

    I get a big Color Shift between exported H264 mp4 on Vimeo/Youtube and Quicktime X and Program Monitor.
    There are quite a few posts on Quicktime gamma issues, but there seem to be no solutions and the other editors I know don't seem to have this problem.
    I know there will be a bit of a shift but this is MASSIVE. At the moment I add a whole extra adjustment layer to all my clips to get it approximately right, but ofcourse this does not solve the issue nor does it give proper results.
    Please do not reply with the "You need a real reference monitor via SDI etc etc ..."
    By my logic on the same screen the program monitor should resemble what is going to be the final result in a relevant player like Quicktime X which all normal apple consumers use to watch their films.  I know VLC and Mpeg streamclip gives different results, but mostly when playing Quicktime/h264 files Quicktime will play it thus average users ( the people I'd like to downwload/buy my films )will watch it in Quicktime.
    Furthermore, Quicktime X's gamma/color looks very similar to the image I get on Youtube or Vimeo - which is where all my current work is going. I'm not outputting to boradcast or DVD etc.
    Strangely enough the MPEG 2 stuff I've done for DVD matches the Youtube output with the Program monitor.
    What am I doing wrong?
    I have a Dell 2711 wide Gamut Display which is calibrated with an SPyder 3 Elite using its full colour gamut ( close to 90% of Adobe RGB - thus bigger than sRGB or Rec709) Could Premiere be ignoring the calibration in the Program monitor and making the image values 16-235 and then Quicktime uses all  values 0-255? If so, how can I fix this?
    Any help will be much appreciated!

    I know this has been a while so hopefully you found some help by now, but maybe this will help anyone stumbling across this.
    What people seem to be missing in what you are asking is... this is the same file, on the same monitor, but with a different appearance in different software.  It is not a question of whether the overall monitoring is GOOD, and it is not a matter of hardware settings (as that would most likely propogate across all software) it is that it is not CONSISTENT side by side on the very same monitor.
    I had very similar issues that really seemed to get worse when we got new monitors, which is what lead me to chime in here.  The monitors were also wide gamut displays.
    The problem is likely this...
    1. The difference being shown are the difference between software that properly color manages (i.e. Premier or After Effects) and software that does not (i.e. Quicktime or some web browsers)
    2. The reason it is so severe is that the wide gamut monitors are able to show many more colors and thus the difference between the managed and unmanaged software is much more exagerrated than on regular gamut monitors.
    I found this great link that helped calm my nerves and helped me get handle on much of what is going on.
    http://www.artstorm.net/journal/2009/07/color-management-wide-gamut-dell-2408/
    Now that is not to say that the 0-255/16-235 issue is not also involved here.  It is definitely possible that a specific codec or compressor is part of the problem, but it sounds like it starts with the color management issue first.
    I hope this helps.

  • Images Change Colors between monitors while the UI stays the same

    Hey! Im having an issue where photoshop changes the colors when I move the window between my monitors, seen here: http://sta.sh/04y5s60vf3j This isnt due to the monitors themselves being different, it actually changes after a few seconds of moving it inbetween the monitors. The left one has been callibrated with a spyder 3 elite which I no longer have access to. I applied the file with windows color management instead of the spyder utility. The second one is new, and it is not callibrated by anything, but instead was done by hand with the built in brightness/contrast/custom RGB settings. Both of them are very close to eachother, enough so for my tastes. but when photoshop changes what the image looks like, it's causing problems. Interestingly enough, when I disable callibration for the monitor on the left, the image does not change colors between monitors, but instead always appears as it does on the right. but then they don't match up and the whole screen looked washed out because it's uncallibrated, so that doesnt do me any good. Another interesting thing to point out, is when this image is saved as a .JPG, and viewed with firefox the image appears exactly like the monitor on the LEFT (which is my main monitor) despite the left monitor being the one that is force changed. does anyone have any suggestions? It also appears that windows photoviewer is behaving the same way, though firefox does not. Meaning when I open an image in all 3 on the left monitor, they look the same, but when opened on the right monitor, windows photo viewer and photoshop both display the image as brighter and redder than firefox does. This is frustrating, because it seems photoshop is changing the image with my callibration on my left monitor to match what it looks like on the web, which it does. but it doesn't do this for the right monitor, or when the left is uncallibrated. Another issue I can see with this is even if the UI is the same shade of gray, the images are different between the monitors because of this change. Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Alright! So I reread through all this, poked at some things on the internet, and I'm going to attempt to summarize what would be a good solution for all this (And it seems, it still won't be perfect, but to get myself into the best environment I can for not messing with images for an hour trying to make them look nice before I post them to the web. I painted something yesterday on the cintiq, popped it over to my laptop screen and it just looked washed out and terrible.)
    1. Get a X-rite EODIS3 i1 Display Pro, Callibrate laptop and cintiq. I do have the money to drop on something like this, especially if it's a time saver.
         Things I'm not sure about:
              a. There was a ton of complaints about the software not working when I checked reviews, but also a ton that said everything was great. most of them were mac users though.
              b. I'm not sure if problems would still be posed, even while calibrated, by me having a wide gamut monitor.
              c. I'm a terrible excuse for a human being and I think the colors showing up brighter on the wide gamut screen is pretty (I should just make my images this bright on a normal screen and there won't be any issues. >.>)
    2. Set Firefox to color manage (easy enough)
    3. Change my photoshop working space to sRGB (since they'll have been calibrated at this point)
    3. Accept the fact that most of the people who look at my work will be doing so on a monitor that is almost certainly uncalibrated, and I can't control what they will see on my screen, but I CAN control if the colors are -actually- what I want them to be on any properly calibrated device. which is probably the best way to go anyways.
    4. Make paintings, have fun.
    Now, you two have been going on about all sorts of interesting things in here, and it seems that calibration issue run much much deeper than I ever thought. Do either of you have recommendations for how I should tweak this list of things to do or other things I can/ should do? I'm not currently a working professional, but if I have anything to say about it, I will be within a few years (I'm going to school for illustration and studying concept design on my own time) so it'd be useful for me to get into good habits now.

  • Ctrl+Shift do not shift between languages in Firefox and Opera browers

    Pressing Ctrl+Shift on the keyboard do not shift between languages when typing in Firefox and Opera browsers, but it works fine in Word and other applications. I have Windows XP SP3. My browsers are updated.

    Firefox has menu items that use the Shift and Ctrl modifier keys (e.g. Ctrl+Shift+Z = Redo) and those can interfere, especially when typing in a text area.
    You might have more luck with Alt and Shift instead.
    Try to assign different keyboard shortcuts to each of the installed languages instead of using a key sequence to cycle between installed language layouts.

  • Differences between Monitor and Decrypt actions in Decryption Policies

    Hi Everybody,
    Currently I'm working in my first WSA (S170) implementation and some questions has popped up while I was configuring the Decryption policies. The main question here is:
    What are the differences between "monitor" and "decrypt" in the URL Filtering options. As I understand the "decrypt" action allows the WSA to decrypt the packet and treats it like a plain HTTP packet applying the Access Policies, malware inspection and so on. Then I do not really know what the Monitor option does, I'm assuming that it does not decrypt the packet and only checks the destination URL and to allow or not the connection.
    Thanks in advance for your collaboration.
    Jose M. Cortes H.

    If you set it for Decrypt, it always decrypts stuff in that category.
    If you set it to monitor, then other criteria in the policy are used for whether to decrypt or not, such as Web Reputation...
    Here's the flow, which I pulled from the online help:

  • Color shift between Library and Develop module

    Hi,
    I recently noticed a color shift between in the image when going from the library to the develop module. Yes, I know this is mentioned in the FAQ, but I did not find the solutions given there to be satisfactory.
    Let me explain what happens: I have taken Photos with my Canon EOS 300D, in Jpeg mode with Color Space in the Camera set to AdobeRGB. The photos I am talking about were taken with Tungsten light with auto white balance and have a distinct orange color cast. I use Windows XP and view my Photos on a LCD Display calibrated with the Pantone Huey system. The Lightroom Library Module and Photoshop CS2 both display the original image almost identically (there are no changes applied inside Lightroom or Photoshop, I view the original image in both applications). Photoshop is set to use the Adobe RGB Color space as its working Color space, Softproofing is switched off. However, when I switch to the Develop Module, the colors (especially the orange hues) shift very noticably toward pink. I can only assume that the Colorspace conversion or maybe some implicit soft proof used differs between the modules. So, to restate the problem: If I switch back and forth between Library and Develop, without changing anything and in 1:1 view to avoid errors introduced by different zooming methods, the colors shift quite drastically back and forth.
    I have to say that this is really quite annoying. The whole point for me to use the develop module is to use it to make adjustments to the colors, and for this to work properly I have to see the same colors in both modules and in Photoshop. There is no point in correcting a pink color cast away in Develop that is not even there in either the library module or Photoshop (and that would then have a stronger orange tint because I tried to counter the pink tint in develop).
    So this leads me to the final question: Is it possible to tell Develop to use the exact same color settings as the Library Module? Or is there another way to compensate for the color shift?
    I hope I was clear in what happens and what I tried to do. If it helps I can gladly provide a sample photograph that clearly illustrates the point.
    Thank you in advance for your help,
    Daniel

    Thanks for your comments, Don and Fred. I hope that this issue will be worked on soon.
    Fred, I have set the Preview Quality to High, but it doesn't seem to make any differences concerning the color shift. I have investigated this matter further by now and made the following observations:
    *The color shift is a lot less noticable on my laptop (the laptop screen is also color profiled). On my laptop the change is more of a subtle shift in contrast than in color. This might be caused by the smaller color gammut of my laptop display though.
    *I have uploaded a testimage so that others can check if this shift occurs at their workstations too - after all, it might be a misconfiguration of my color management software, though I doubt that (because Adobe already states that library and develop render different previews). I would be interested if the color shift I describe is noticable at other workstations too. The link to the testimage: http://www.danyx.com/colorshift.jpg (permission to use the image to test the color reproduction is of course granted hereby).
    Thanks for your help, I hope Adobe will listen soon,
    Daniel

  • Shift between tabs not working well

    I have problems shifting between tabs, using "Shift, cmd, arrows". It works sometimes, but freezes after a while.
    Anyone?

    Hi,
    In your menu bar click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 7 buttons, click Reset. Relaunch Safari.
    If that doesn't help, check Safari/Preferences - Extensions. If you have any installed, turn that off, see if it makes a difference.

  • Reader window doesn't resize elements between monitors

    Reader 11.0.10 on Windows 8.1 x64. I have a dual monitor setup with two 80cm (30") monitors. One is an Eizo EV3237 UHD monitor running at its native 3840x2160 resolution, the other is a Dell U3011 running at its native 2560x1600 resolution. Because the monitors are the same physical size but quite different resolution, I have unchecked the Control Panel option "Let me choose one scaling level for all my displays" (in Control Panel / Display), so that Windows chooses different scaling levels for each monitor to keep windows, menu text, icons etc the same size on both monitors. This works well for all applications *except* the two Adobe applications I have installed - Adobe Reader and Photoshop Elements 13. Both of these display the window elements such as menu text, icons etc at the same size as other applications on the Eizo UHD monitor, but at a ridiculously large size on the Dell monitor. For all other applications I use, when I drag a non-maximized application window between monitors, the window retains the scaling of the source monitor until half of the window is on the target monitor, at which point the scaling changes to that for the target monitor. However, both Reader and PSE13 retain the scaling of the high-res monitor even when the entire window is on the lower-res monitor, so all the window elements are too large.
    Some Googling shows that Adobe have had scaling problems with their applications for years, but seem too incompetent to fix it.

    Hello,
    We have semiliar problems in sweden with Adobe Reader X 10.1 Swe and Internet Explorer 8.0 with streamed PDF files.
    We had some issues and got them resolved by the following
    Upgraded to Adobe Reader 10.1.2.45 Eng
    - Print Issue:http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/pdf-wont-print-reader-10.html
    - Grey box in Internet explorer: http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/pdf-opens-grey-screen-browser.html
    - Add site as trusted: Edit-> Preferences, unbox Enable Enhanced Security + add the host/url to site that is whitelisted to send pdf files
    (the Automaticly trust sites from mu Win OS security zones doesnt work for us)
    The thing is we run MUI pack on our Citrix servers and want Adobe Reader in Swe but it havent been translated yet...
    So we have to wait for the swedish release on Adobe Reader X 10.1.2

  • Color shift between play and pause

    Hello,
    On CC 7.0 and 7.1, I noticed there is an important color shift between pausing and playing my timeline when using "CineForm Visually Perfect" encoded source material.
    This is especially noticeable on reds.
    Using other codecs, there is no such shift.
    My video card is a Geforce 650M. At first, I thaught it might be related to the video overlay settings of the card, but there are no such settings in the control panel.
    Besides, using Quicktime to play the source produces no shift as well.
    As I am often doing color correction using Premiere, and as I have dropped Avid exactly because I always had this same problem (when using a profiled calibrated screen), I would like to know precisely what is going on. As I'm regularly producing shows for broadcast, it is a real problem not to be sure whether what you see matches the final exported output in all circumstances.
    NB : For the need of searching the cause of this problem I disabled any custom profiling of my screen.
    Thanks ! for any answers.
    Fred

    Sure and thanks. But nevertheless, if you color correct using a calibrated screen, and produce for the web ; or if you do a first pass of color correction before the ultimate pass happens with a "properly calibrated TV", wouldn't you like that your paused frame would look like your playing frame ?

  • Color shift between Develop Module and other modules in Lr 5.7.1

    Hello,
    I'm getting a color shift between the devolop module and any other module in Lr.
    It's a recent problem that I've been experiencing since the last update.
    I'm using Lr as part of the Adobe Photographers Bundle in a Windows 8.1 pro.
    Below I have an example for the kind of color shift i'm seeing. The image on the left is from the Devolop Mobule and the one on the right is form the Library Module.
    Is this happening to any one else? Does any one know why?
    I would appreciate any help.

    Gautam is correct in that the preview mechanism isn't the same in Develop and the other modules and, you must view the color in Develop at 1:1 to see an accurate preview. The color space is different that's probably why you see this difference in reds (especially if you use a wide gamut display).
    IF you build your own ICC profiles for your display, be sure the software is not building a V4 (version 4) profile, stick with V2.
    As for exporting and comparing, be sure the secondary application is color managed! Otherwise it's expected that there is a visual disconnect between LR and that app.

  • My iphone 4 will not shift between formats, phone to email to text. Gets stuck. Why?

    iPhone 4 gets stuck and won't return to home screen. Can't shift between programs from phone to email to text. I push the button to return to home screen over and over. Did get a message that I was runnning out of disc space. Could this be the problem? I purged a lot of photos that were on the camera roll but it still sticks. When I turn it off and back on, it will come up on home screen. But, I can't keep doing this everytime.  What to do?

    Hi there,

  • Horizontal shifts between dropdown pages and parents

    I have noticed a horizontal shift when going from a dropdown page bact to a parent page. This seem to happen on all dropdowns. When clicking between parents, no shift. when clicking between children, no shift. Shifting between parents and children only. I'm 99% positive this was caused by the public release. Website is: www.islandguymusic.com , published via FTP upload. There is a version with the same address published to http://islandguymusic.businesscatalyst.com/index.html site via "publish".

    Hi Carl,
    thanks for your answer!
    I also thougt it coud be an issue with the CSS and I've searched the whole CSS-Stylesheet. In the part of the Tab Classes I searched for every margin-top and margin-bottom and set it to 0px but it had no effect.
    Here you can see the part of my CSS-Stylesheet containing the attributes of the tabs:
    /* Tab Classes */
    /* .t4Tabs{text-align:center;padding:10px 0 2px 0;} */
    .t4Tabs{text-align:right;padding:10px 0 2px 0;margin-bottom:0px;margin-top:0px;}
    .t4standardtabcurrent{vertical-align:middle;padding:2px 5px 2px 5px;margin 0px 3px 0px 3px;background-color:#CCCCCC;color:#111111;border:2px solid #111111;border-bottom:0;text-decoration:none;font-weight:bold;}
    .t4standardtab{vertical-align:middle;padding:2px 5px 2px 5px;background-color:#777777;color:#ffffff;margin:0px 3px 0px 3px;border:2px solid #111111;border-bottom:0;text-decoration:none;font-weight:bold;}
    .t4standardtab:hover{background-color:#CCCCCC;color:#000000;text-decoration:none;}
    .t4ChildTabs{text-align:center;background-color:#FFFFFF;padding-bottom:4px;margin-top:0px;margin-bottom:0px;}
    .t4childtabcurrent{margin-left:3px;margin-right:3px;font-weight:bold;background-color:#DDDDDD;padding:2px;border:2px solid #000000;border-top:none;text-decoration:none;}
    .t4childtab{margin-left:3px;margin-right:3px;padding:2px;border:2px solid #000000;border-top:none;text-decoration:none;font-weight:bold;}
    But the strange is that this horizontal space is not equal on every page. On some pages it is quite small and like I want it to be and when I select the tab "Reports" for example there is a huge gap.
    When I change the margin in the CSS-Stylesheet shouldn't it be for all pages? Shouldn't the margin be the same whatever page I am on?
    Greetings,
    Sofie

  • Color shift between viewer and browser after pro kit update

    hi there,
    i thought i be one of the lucky guys since updating and running 3.0.1 was easy on my system. but after yesterdays pro kit update i experience a weird color shift between the look of pictures in the browser and viewer.
    there is a strong colorshift in orange parts of sundown pictures. they turn magenta in the viewer but stay orange in the browser. the difference can easily be seen in the split screen. even weirder if i export a picture from the vier/split screen the exported files show the magenta tint. if i export them from the browser, they have the "right" orange tint.
    this happens with raw-files from both d200 and d70. also exportet the raw and processed it with ps cs3 and everything was ok. anyone got a clue?
    thanx in advance

    just found the explanation. after my prokit update, all raw-files needed to be reprocessed and then i needed to select the standard apple camera module for the d200. that was quite tricky and i don't understand why something like this happens. why do all files need to be reprocessed and than afterwards you would have to manually select the apple standard converter and why did the viewer look different than the browser and why is there no warning module that tell you all files will have to be reprocessed?

  • Shift between sound and image ?

    Hi there!
    I have a weird issue on my computer: there is a tiny shift between the sound and the image: the image goes faster than the sound, which is very annoying, especially when the movies are long. Sometimes it works perfectly and it seems to be because the computer is busy doing something else in the background. Otherwise when I'm just running quicktime, the shift appears... But I am not sure this is because of that actually. Any idea ? Thank you a lot !

    Any idea?
    Afraid I don't fully understand your question. If you are asking why this occurs, the reasons most frequently are:
    1) Camcorder audio recorded at 12 bits is converted/captured by harware/software that expects audio to be in a 16-bit format. In this case audio data is processed in groups of 16-bits where only 12 represent a discrete unit of coded sound.
    or
    2) "Muxed" source file using custom/non-standard bit rates and/or VBR audio is converted to a "frame-to-frame" sync format file. In this case, audio and video is "demuxed" to individual intermediate audio and video streams before final conversion to the target format. Once again, the intermediate audio usually expects a fixed/constant number of bits to represent a discrete unit of coded sound.
    Basically, what's happening is that the audio and video streams of information are no longer of the same length when laid out side by side (i.e., "frame-to-frame) and, thus, the audio and video are "out of sync." Specifics may vary. It all depends on the actual source formats, as well as, the manner in which the final streams are merged. Most frequently, the audio track ends up shorter than the video track. If they are merged by starting both tracks at the same time ("added"), then the audio gradually diverges from the video more and more throughout the movie and by the end of a long clip can be noticeable "out of sync." If the tracks are merged by "adding and scaling" one of the tracks, then the problem is somewhat more difficult to define. In this case, the beginning and end of the movie may be nticeable "out of sync" while the middle may almost seem to be "in sync."
    Now, if you are asking about solutions, then those depend on the source of the problem. Where the problem is merely in the camcorder setting, change it. If it is in the conversion/capture by hardware/software and user settings are available, then change them. If no such user settings are available, consider changing your work flow. (E.g., capture/convert using different hardware, software, or methodology such as digital-analog-digital double conversion where all else fails). Lastly, you could attemtp to "fix" the problem in "post-production." While is should be a last resort, many good editor applications do allow you to analyze the audio graphically and scale (compress/expand) tracks in order to "re-sync" them. While I have yet to try the utility myself, a dedicated application called "Movie Sync v1.0" is currently available for Mac machines. This utility allows the user to loop audio at a desired point in order to "locally" re-sync audio and video. (I can only assume a localized "scaling" is being performed.)
    Does that help?
