Does adobe digital edition need a license for business use?

I would like to find out if a license is required to install Adobe Digital Editions for use in a business?

I'm giving the same advice a few times on different threads, so I hope it's right.
Digital Editions recognizes most dedicated eBook readers (as in the list) directly so they show up in ADE,
but does not recognize tablets that have eBook capabilities.
This includes android tablets (probably including KoboArc), and ios tablets such as iPad.
If you have a tablet, you need to install an eBook reading app on it: I suggest Bluefire.
Make sure Bluefire app is registered to the same AdobeID as your ADE.
You can then copy epub files from your PC/Mac using a file manager and read them using Bluefire.
(Apple makes it more difficult, you need iTunes, Dropbox or similar to copy).
If the books are not DRM, there is no need to use ADE at all;
either download them direct to the tablet and read on Bluefire, or download to the PC/Mac and copy.
For DRM library books you will find an Overdrive app that allows books to be checked out, downloaded and read directly on an android/ios device.
There are also dedicated apps from various vendors.

I cannot get Adobe Digital Editions to recognise my Kobo Arc 7.
Does Adobe Digital Editions work with the Kobo Arc 7 e-reader ?
It is recognised partly by Calibre but then produces an communication error message.
Are there any other utilities I could use to organise DRM files downloaded to be stored on the Kobo Arc?

No. For information about the future plans for this see http://blogs.adobe.com/billmccoy/2009/10/adobe-ebooks--.html

adobe digital editions activation errer server for my computer, what do I do

You can do it with Calibre.   http://calibre-ebook.com/
You can do it in one step very easily without too much control,
or via HTML, add your style sheet manually, then to epub (I haven't tried this).
In fact, Calibre will also transfer to an ereader and no need to use ADE at all.
(I only use ADE rather than Calibre where there is a DRM file involved.)
There are quite a few other software that will do it as well.

  • Does Adobe Digital Editions support media queries?

Does Adobe Digital Editions support EPUBs with media queries?

    Thanks Jim,
Is it possible to use more than one CSS by using conditional query in XHTML like this:
      <link href="a.css" media="all and (min-width: 768px) and (max-width: 1024px)" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
      <link href="b.css" media="all and (min-width:1025px)" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
ADE will recognize the "media" parameters?

  • Individual license for business use.

    Hi,
We are development company around 5 people are working. Among 5 employees there is only one Photoshop designer. For one photoshop designer, do i need to buy Individual license or Team license. It seems Adobe providing the license based on the seat(i read somewhere else). I dont know what version should i use.
    Please clarify my doubt.
    Thanks  in advance.

I've just had a live chat with adobe, from our conversation, I'm convinced that it is legal to use an individual license for business use. Attached screenshot of the live chat and the two screenshots I sent over during livechat to make sure we are on the same page when we're referring to "individual license" and "business license"
kindly ignore the part I mentioned about Denave Pte Ltd. That's a topic for a different post.

  • Why does adobe digital editions not recognize my nook?

Why would adobe digital editions not recognize my nook when I connect the nook through the usb port?

Thanks for the quick reply, and sorry for the late response. I'm trying to do this for my mum on her computer, but I don't live with her, so it can be hard for me to find the spare time to get to her place.
Okay, let me start by listing a few things in dot points:
    - Adobe Digital Editions does not recognise the device. There doesn't even appear to be any menu options for a "device" anywhere in the program.
    - When I connect the device to the computer, the screen lights up and the word "USB" appears on it, so it is definitely noting the PC connection. However, no device appears in "My Computer" (running Windows XP). Tried using "Add Devices", but it couldn't find anything.
    - Yellowstone, the brand, appears to be a product of JB Hifi, the store she purchased it from, and has no website or online software/drivers.
    - I downloaded Calibre as you said. It seems a lot cheaper, but has easier to read options. However, it still won't let me load to my device (the text is greyed-out). I assume this means the program is not recognising the device either.
Not sure what to do now, kinda run out of ideas. Any more help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thakns Linda.

  • Why does adobe digital editions not recogize my pandigital nova e reader/tablet?

My pandigital 7" E reader/tablet is not recognized by adobe digital editions. I have looked on the site for compatible devices and it is listed.  It has the kindle app installed and as far as I know it is has an adroid system 2,3,4   Any help would be appreciated

You'll want to ask at the Digital Editions forum :: http://forums.adobe.com/community/adobe_digital_editions rather than here (the Adobe Reader forum).
    Be well...

  • Opened adobe digital edition anonymously and now can't use book on other computer

I didn't realise I needed to open adobe digital editions with my name in order to access the book I purchased from more than one device. How can I remedy this situation? the publisher is not being overly helpful

This is a vicious trap that Adobe lays for unsuspecting customers.
When you register 'without ID', ADE creates an anonymous/implicit ID with limited powers (eg can't be used to share with other devices).
Whenever you first load a DRM book, that copy of the book is associated with whatever ID the computer is registered to at the time.
Any book you load while this anonymous ID is active gets associated with that ID, and can't be read on any other device.
When you properly register your computer with a real ID, that old anonymous ID is lost.
Now you don't have any devices that can read the book.
The only way I know round this is to use a DRM stripper such as epubee BEFORE you deauthorize the device.
I do NOT advocate using such code to get around the valid limitations placed on a DRM book.
However, where the problem arises only because of the ineptness of Adobe's ADEPT DRM infrastructure and its implementation,
such a measure is totally justifiable.

  • When is Adobe Digital Editions creating an app for iPad?

Without digital edtions I am unble to use public library e books. Please advise.

Hear, hear! I review books, the galleys of which are increasingly being made available by publishers in DRM-protected format to reviewers; so to read such files, I have to sit in front of of my IMac for two-hundred-odd pages, or more. Please, oh please Adobe people, can we have a version of Digital Editions for the IPad?
P.S. It's  possible to read DE's DRM-protected files on an IPad using a free app called Txtr, available at the app store. It does work, although not easily. You have to link your IPad to your Adobe ID via the Txtr app, then upload the pdf file created within Digital Editions on your computer to a txtr website, and then download it to your IPad. But it works....

  • OEM - do I need a license for home use?

    Guys
    I installed Oracle 10.1 on Solaris 10 x86.
Whenever I try to load http://localhost:5500/em, I get a permission denied error.
    01. This is for home use (learning). Do I need a license?
    Thanks in advance

    A few things to check:
    1. Check the installation Manual to ensure the owner(installer) of the software has all the required privilege granted to it and that the dbconsole is started by that user (instead of root).
    2. Check that you are accessing the correct port. It is not always in port 5500. Check the file $ORACLE_HOME/install/portlist.ini to ensure you are entering the right port.
    3. Check that you are using the correct host name. Use the name of the Server instead of localhost. Also if at install time you used the Long Servername (e.g ugoserver.ugonic.com.ng), you will have permission problem when /etc/hosts file has only the entry for the Short Servername (e.g ugoserver). So check and append the long Servername to the end of the line.
    4. Remember to have a look at emca.log file for more error message details

  • Adobe Digital Edition - need help authorizing NOOK

I have a new computer - I have downloaded the ADE software and my library books are appearing in the ADE library but I cannot drag them into my nook.  The message said NO PERMISSION TO COPY THE BOOK.  HELP

Have you registered ADE the new machine with the same AdobeID as you were using on the old machine, and are presumably using on the Nook if library books used to work?
You may need to deregister whatever is currently registered on your new ADE, using ctrl-shift-D (cmd-shift-D on Mac).  Restart ADE and register with your old ID.

    Might be corrupted preferences ...
    Disconnect the iPhone.
On your Mac open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
    Type or copy the following:
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Image_Capture.plist
Click Go then move the com.apple.Image_Capture.plist file to the Trash.
Restart your Mac and launch Image Capture.
Reconnect your iPhone. See if Image Capture recognizes the device.
