Does file exist?

I'm doing a search to find files in a folder that end with .cfg. There should be two files like this in the directory. But, if there are 3 files I would like to know.
This is the code I'm using to find the file names.
                FilenameFilter filter = new FilenameFilter() {
                    public boolean accept(File dir, String fileName) {
                        return fileName.endsWith(".cfg");
                String newcust1234 = jTextField4.getText();
                File f = new File("C:\\sigpad\\" + newcust1234 + "\\EFT\\");
                String[] fileList = f.list(filter);
                eft1 = fileList[0].substring(4, 8);
                eft2 = fileList[1].substring(4, 8);
                If I do the code like this it give me an error and doesn't print to the screen what I'm looking for unless the file is there.

                The error I get is:
"Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0" java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: 2"

I figured it out
int asdf = fileList.length;
