Does Java have APIs for statistical analysis?

Hi Java Experts
I want to develop a Java program which can help users to analyse their stock investment. Here I have two questions
1) How can I wrap my finished Java program as a XXX.exe? So users can install my program by executing it
2) Does Java have any APIs for statistical analysis?
Thank you very much for your help!

  • Why does Java have such a large footprint?

I've been curious about this topic for a while, but I haven't ever looked into this to any depth. I also posted this to stackoverflow but haven't gotten any solid responses so far:
    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1107991/why-does-java-have-such-a-large-footprint
Java - or at least Sun's Hotspot JVM - has long had a reputation for having a very large memory footprint. What exactly is it about the JVM that gives it this reputation? I'd be interested in a detailed breakdown: how much memory goes to the runtime? (The JIT? The GC/memory management? The classloader?) Anything related to "auxiliary" APIs like JNI/JVMTI? The standard libraries? (Which parts get how much?) Any other major components?
I realize that this may not be straightforward to answer without a concrete application plus VM configuration, so just to narrow things down at least somewhat: I'm primarily interested in default/typical VM configurations, and in a baseline console "Hello world" app as well as any real-world desktop or server app. (I'm suspecting that a substantial part of the JVM's footprint is largely independent of the app itself, and it is in this part that I'd like to zoom in, ideally.)
I have a couple of other closely related questions:
Other similar technology, such as .NET/mono, don't exhibit nearly the same footprint. Why is this the case?
I've read somewhere on the intarwebs that a large portion of the footprint is due simply to the size of the standard libraries. If this is the case, then why is so much of the standard libraries being loaded up front?
Are there any efforts (JSRs, whatever) to tame the memory footprint? The closest thing I've come across is a project to reduce the on-disk footprint of the JVM [1] and to modularize the standard library [2].
I'm sure that the footprint has varied over the past decade or so with every new version of Java. Are there any specific numbers/charts chronicling precisely how the JVM's footprint has changed?

Presumably versus some other VM. I would suppose the fact that much of the VM is written in java has something to do with it.

Not sure I agree with that. What size do you see with a .Net app that uses 3.0/3.5?
I've read somewhere on the intarwebs that a large portion of the footprint is due simply to the size of the standard libraries. If this is the case, then why is so much of the standard libraries being loaded up front?
Good question. There is a feature that allows multiple VMs to use the same memory footprint version of the loaded libraries. That is a new feature and it isn't clear to me if it covers the entire API. I do not know if that is dynamically built.

  • When does java deallocate memory for objects;

um i'm working on a midp application that is very memory consuming. i would like to optimise it and make it just the oposite of what it is. now i would like to know when does java dellocate memory for an object, is it when it can find no more references to that object? or some other time, well i know its not when it can find no more references to that object because i've already tried that.
or to make things simpler is there any explicit way to make java deallocate memory for a specific object, like if i have a thread, which is executing a while loop, and i want java to end the thread and free its memory. is there any way to do this?

I happen to have quite some J2ME experience and it's not overly wise to count on extensive garbage collection. The garbage collector in limited device VMs isnt as advanced as it's big brothers. Try to avoid excessive object allocation and reuse instances whenever possible.
As for garbage collection, objects will be garbage collected if they can no longer be reached by any of the active application threads and if the garbage collectors deems it necessary to collect garbage, which will probably be when free heap memory becomes sparse or when there's some idle time in your application.

Hi. What do your initials stand for, Tom Hanks Kevin Susan?
You can use a JLabel to show a graphic in Java. Use its setIcon method.
You can use setBounds to position components, but you must set the layout of the parent component to null using setLayout. However, it is recommended not to do this, as it isn't very flexible. Instead, learn about and use [url java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/uiswing/layout/using.html]layout managers.
    I've never used Matisse.

  • About Java Communication API for Windows

    hi
I'm studying Serial Communication in university.
I'd like to know the reason why we can't downlaod Java Communication API for Windows.
I confirmed Comm for Linux and Soralis, but I can't find Comm for Win.
Please tell me the reason if someone know.

For no particular reason Sun stopped supporting the windows version
of that package. I use rxtx which happens to allow for much faster
    communication too.
The interface is identical to Sun's version, just the package differs: "gnu.io".

  • User XIRWBUSER does not have authorization for message monitoring

    Hi All,
In the Runtime WorkBench, when I choose the Message Monitoring, display Messages from Component Adapter Engine from Database, when I click on the start button, it shows me a error "User XIRWBUSER does not have authorization for message monitoring", how can I configure my xi to get the authorization for message monitoring of Adapter Engine? Thanks!
    Regards,

    Hi Nick,
Transaction PFCG. Enter the role you wish to check (SAP_XI_RWB_SERV_USER) and click on the display button.
Check that the Authorizations tab is green. If it is not, then you might need to generate the auth profile. Also check the User tab. If it is not green, then you should do a User Comparison as well (just click on the button inside the tab).

There should be a file called javadocs.jar in your portal installation directory. Either under SUNWps/sdk or SUNWps/export.

  • User does not have authorization for InfoProvider

    Hi,
We are in BI 7.0 and want to display the data in the cube that I created and loaded data to. In RSA1, I am do a right click on the cube and select "display data". I am getting to selection screen and after selecting the output fields and executing, I am getting the following error:
User XXX does not have authorization for InfoProvider ZFREDC
The long text is like this:
You do not have sufficient authorization
    Message no. EYE007
    Diagnosis
You do not have sufficient authorization for the requested data records.
    Procedure
Either select other data or get the required authorizations from your administrator.
I did a authorization check in SU53 after I got the error and it says the last authorization check was successful.
Can somebody suggest me what to do. If there are any authorization objects that I need to have in my role?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Be sure to have authorisation object S_RS_ICUBE assigned with at least activity 03 (execute) and subobject data and agregate for the respective cube(s) or infoarea(s).

loss for B1?  What's the procedure to get new one?
    Any cost involved.
    Regards,

    Hi Kenneth
Usualy we take the strongest measures to avoid that and never let it come to that. You should of had back up's running on and off site. How bad is your problem?? I'm assuming you are talking abou a hard drive that is faulty. Have you tried restarting in Safe Mode??
You get experts that can retrieve data from a hard drive depending how bad the problem is. It usualy cost more than the Hard drive......but if you are desperate and value your data you'll do it.
    Hope this helps

  • Did iPhone have API for video recording?

Did iPhone have API to write an application for video recording?. I have read all the document about audio&video that release along with SDK beta5 but can't find anything about video recording, all they said is...
    Audio
Support for recording, processing, and playing audio files and streams.
    Video
Support for full-screen display of video files.
if currently iPhone don't have API for video recording, Did apple will develop it in future release of SDK?
    thank you.

Here is a link the the apple developer site that might help out.
