Does jax-rpc support inheritance?

I have the following classes:
public class Payment implements Serializable {
    private String description;
    public void setDescription() {}
    public String getDescription() {}
public class CreditCard extends Payment {
    private String creditCardNumber;
    public void setCreditCard(String c) {}
    public String getCreditCard() {}
}Here is my webservice IF:
public interface PaymentService extends Remote {
     public Payment getPayment() throws RemoteException;
public class PaymentServiceImpl extends PaymentService {
    public Payment getPayment() {
         return new CreditCard();
    }I generate the client stubs using wscompile tool.
My question is when I call getPayment() I expect the CreditCard object instance is returned but instead I get the Payment object instance, what do I need to do to get the right object back?
Thanks in advance.

  • Does JAX-WS support JMS transport?

    I was looking at this article for JMS transport support in JAX-WS https://jms-ws-transport.dev.java.net/
    In the example at https://jms-ws-transport.dev.java.net/source/browse/jms-ws-transport/samples/fromwsdl/etc/AddNumbers.wsdl?view=markup , in the binding definition, soap:binding transport is http ('http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/http') and in the port definition location="x-jms://localhost:3700/jaxwsfactory/fromwsdlQ?path=addnumbers" the protocol is x-jms , I don't quite understand it. Can someone explain if it is HTTP transport or JMS transport we are using here.
    thanks in advance

    Can some one please help me with this one.
    If any more information is needed, I will be glad to provide that.

  • Type casting in JAX-RPC

    Hello
    I was trying to do a JAX-RPC application, and I had some problems with type casting. My application worked fine with primitive types, vectors of primitive types, and beans with primitive type properties. But it didn't work with vectors of beans, or ArrayList's of beans... It couldn't deserialize the result on client side... Can anyone help?
    The Java Web Services Tutorial says that JAX-RPC supports beans and vectors, but I had the impression that this is not a "recursive" support, like "beans with vectors" or "vectors of beans"... Does it make sense?
    By the way, I was using a DII client...
    Thanks,
    Alexandre Murakami

    Hello!
    Thanks for the reply! I can't put the code of my application here (because it's quite big and it's from work)... But I followed the dii client example from the Web Services Tutorial...
    I'm trying to do a kind of a general client... The parameters are the URL of the service, the name of the operation, a list of parameters and the return type class.. And it takes the rest of the service information from the WSDL file... About the return type, I take the QName of the return type from the WSDL:
    <message>
    <part name="result" type="...">...
    then I call the call.setReturnType(QName, Class) method. The return type was an array of a very simple bean, something like:
    class Person {
    String name;
    int age;
    public String getName() {...}
    public void setName(...) {...}
    public int getAge() {...}
    public void setAge(...) {...}
    I don't know if the information I put here is enough... but anyway, thanks for the reply!

  • Web Service JAX-RPC/SOAP with JAXB

    Hello,
    During my research on JAX-RPC/SOAP as web service technology. I found only simple "helloworld" sample type what using simple String as aurgment. For my task, I required a more complex aurgment such as a complete contact info. I then did some sample code for JAXB and found it to be very useful as a XML/JAVA binding tool. It seems logical to use JAXB to parse and bind the complex aurgment. Though I have not seen any reference to this using it with JAX-RPC. Does JAX-RPC have the tool set to accomplish the same thing? JAX-RPC may have such thing, but using this JAXB seem logical, thus would I still "conform" to the JAX-RPC if I go this route. Any info would be much appreciative.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Mike

    The two JAX-RPC tools that I have used, the reference implementation and Apache Axis both have tools for mappiing XML to classes and vice-versa. Having used JAXB also, I have to say that both of these tools are much easier to use than JAXB.
    As far as whether it will conform, you can make a valid SOAP message using any tool you like.

  • Jax-rpc and xsd x:any/

    I am using JAX-RPC to build a client for a web service. Some of the operations on the web service include an <x:any/> element in the response. JAX-RPC generates a corresponding javax.xml.soap.SOAPElement for each of the elements defined as <x:any/>.
    The web service operation, that I am building the client for, is truly generic. It takes in a parameter that is a sql query string and so the respones for the web service could and will be many different sizes and shapes. I'm curious if there are any frameworks that will aid in my handling of the SOAPElement objects. I am currently the JAX-RPC that comes with apache AXIS 1.3 for the web service client.
    Does JAX-RPC or AXIS provide functionality for handling the SOAPElements so that I do not have to write code for each custom query that may be invoked on this web service? I would prefer handIe this in a more generic and abstracted manner. I realize that I can traverse the SOAPElement, but this seems very ugly.
    Are there examples of how this is usually done.?

    Thanks. I am using Hibernate as well. Unfortunately, I did not develop the web service itself and are only tasked with invoking it. We have no control over how the web service is defined or developed. So, I am forced to deal with the SOAPEnvelope. Any insight as to frameworks that will help parse the SOAPEnvelope would be appeciated

  • JAX-RPC and Parameter Interfaces

    I am designing the Web Service interface for our project using JAX-RPC, and have enjoyed the ease with which I can create Web Service deployments and WSDL documents.
    However, some of the developers on my team have chosen to create their Data Transfer Objects as a pair of Interface and Implementation classes. This works okay in scenario where the WS caller is "pulling" data from my service. However, it doesn't work in the scenario where the caller is "pushing" data to the service because JAX-RPC can't make the connection between the interface and implementation classes used in my service interface.
    For example, suppose there are four classes in the project: MyService, MyServiceImpl, Foo, and FooImpl. The MyService class uses Foo in it's method signatures. How does JAX-RPC know to instantiate an instance of FooImpl for incoming requests?
    public class MyServiceImpl implements MyService {
    // not ok
    public void doStuff (Foo arg) { ... }
    // ok
    public Foo giveMeStuff () { ... }
    It would be nice if JAX-RPC provided annotations that facilitated making connections between interfaces and implementation classes used in service inputs and outputs. For example:
    @WebServiceInterface {
    Implementation=FooImpl
    public Foo {
    Any thoughts? Thanks,

  • Use Array in JAX-RPC

    I want to send an array as parameter in the client of the JAX-RPC,how can I write the code?
    Here is my code,but it has some errors.
    int[] temp=new int[2];
    temp[0]=1;
    temp[1]=2;
    QName QNAME_TYPE_OBJECT = new QName("http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/", "Array");
    call.addParameter("param", QNAME_TYPE_OBJECT,temp.getClass(), ParameterMode.PARAM_MODE_IN);
    Object[] params = {temp};
    String result = (String)call.invoke(params);
    How can I send the temp array correctly?
    thank you very much!

    In addition ,I find that if I change the parameter from int[] to String[],everything is ok!
    here is the code:
    String[] words = {"it", "was", "a", "dark", "and",
    "stormy", "night"};
    QName QNAME_TYPE_OBJECT = new QName("http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/", "Array");
    call.addParameter("param", QNAME_TYPE_OBJECT,words.getClass(), ParameterMode.PARAM_MODE_IN);
    Object[] params = {words};
    String result = (String)call.invoke(params);
    why?what I happenend?And I find that the error is that ClassCastError,i.e.
    String[] can be casted into Object[],but int[] can't,so the error occured.(I know this process by decompiling the class file).
    but the tutorial says JAX-rpc supports the int[],is it wrong?

  • JAX-RPC ArrayLists and Jave Beans

    Can any one tell me if JAX-RPC supports an ArrayList of JavaBeans

    In my experience, Apache Axis is capable of serializing and deserializing any java.util.Collection instance, provided it can serialize and deserialize the objects held by the collection. This means that a List populated with beans should cause no problems.
    A word of caution though: XML serialization of objects is nowhere near as fast as the 'usual' Java serialization. This means that -if you're sending or receiving large amounts of beans per call- you might consider sending and receiving the List as attachment (ie: binary). I realize this defeats interoperability for the related web service methods, but having your users wait dozens of seconds on responses is rarely a viable alternative.

  • JAX-RPC: restrictions on service exception field types?

    When I define a service-specific exception type that has String fields only, it works fine. But if the exception class has an int field, xrpcc complains. It also fails if I change the field to Integer.
    Since JAX-RPC supports both int and Integer as operation argument and return types, I expected exceptions to be able to use these types as well. Are there restrictions on exception fields types?
    Here is the class with the int fields and the xrpcc errors it generates:
    public class InvalidRecordingIdException extends Exception {
         private int id;
         public InvalidRecordingIdException() {
              super();
         public InvalidRecordingIdException(int id) {
              this.id = id;
         public int getId() {
              return id;

         [exec] instance.setDetail(new rain.InvalidRecordingIdException((int)detail));
         [exec]                                                                         ^
         [exec] 2 errors
         ...Here's the error for the Integer field in an exception:
    xrpcc-server:
         [echo] Running xrpcc for the server:
         [exec] error: generator error: generator error: java.lang.ClassCastException:
         com.sun.xml.rpc.processor.model.soap.SOAPSimpleType
         [exec] 1 error

    You have run into a bug that will be fixed in the next release of the JWSDP dealing with Exceptions with only one member that is a primitive type. However, changing that member to a boxed (Integer) representation should work, what version of JAXRPC are you using? As a work around you should be able to eliminate the problem by adding one more member to the Exception using a different type.
    Thank you for your interest in JAXRPC

  • Java.lang.Error: JAX-RPC 1.1 method is not supported in WLS 8.1 clients.

    We have some web services that run under OC4J 10.1.3.4. We have various JEE 'client' apps (JSF, servlets etc.) that use these web services. These JEE apps also run under OC4J.
    We started a migration project from oc4j to weblogic 10.3.2. In phase 1 we want to move these JEE 'client' apps to weblogic. In phase 2 we want to move the web services themselves to weblogic with adjustments to the JEE 'client' apps as needed.
    However we ran into an issue during this phase 1. Deploying these JEE 'client' apps to weblogic results in an error like this:
    java.lang.Error: JAX-RPC 1.1 method is not supported in WLS 8.1 clients. If you are attempting to run an OC4J 10.1.3 JAX-RPC client in WLS, please see the Web Service Migration Guide for instructions.
    We are including Oracle web services client libraries (http://download.oracle.com/otn/java/oc4j/1013/wsclient_extended.zip) in these JEE 'client' apps's war files because weblogic does not have them.
    What part of Web Service Migration Guide is the above error message talking about? Do we have to re-generate the client side proxies for all these web services using weblogic's clientgen task in 'JAXRPC' mode? Many of these web services are doc/literal jax-rpc web services. Or does the migration guide recommend we migrate the web services first to weblogic? Any other specific information on working around this error message would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
    I had the same issue but I just managed to fix it. You must upgrade and/or regenerate you proxy. This creates new classes (possibily in a new package) that you must use in your code. I had this error because the classes directory was not clean after the rebuild and the old classes (in the old package) were still present, so the compilation was successful with the old classes. So clean your classes directories, regenerate your proxy and use the new classes in your code.

    Sylvain

  • JAX-RPC 9.0.4   --- Data Types Supported

    Hi,
    does any body know is java.util.List is a supported Datatype on OC4j 9.0.4.2 for JAX-RPC.
    Cheers
    Gaurav

    Gaurav,
    Not sure which version of JAX-RPC you are intended to run on top of 9.0.4.2 ?
    In any way, if you want your service to work with the majority of the clients, you need to focus on the XML types; not the java types.
    To my knowledge, the List will be mapped to a proprietary type, at best, which make it harder to re-use.
    All the best,
    Eric

  • JAX-RPC, JAXM, JAXR supported in WLS6.1?

    Does wls6.1 support JAX API's? If not, when will they be supported? Thanks much.
    Siming

    Hi Siming,
    The JAX Pack (i.e. JAX-RPC, JAXM, JAXB, JAXR, etc.) are still merely JSRs, with
    no "real" consensus on whether they will ever be otherwise. This being the case,
    it is unlikely that you will see support for them in WebLogic Server, in the near
    future (3 to 6 months). You can always run the Sun RIs (Reference Implementations)
    under WebLogic Server (I have done this with both JAXB and JAXM), if you would
    like to experiment with these technologies.

  • Jdeveloper 11g - JAX-RPC 1.1 method is not supported in WLS 8.1 clients.

    Hi,
    I am using Jdeveloper 11g and migrating a web Service Proxy created using jdeveloper 10g.
    I imported all the proxy classes and when I try to run web service client In Jdeveloper 11g I get the following error
    "JAX-RPC 1.1 method is not supported in WLS 8.1 clients. If you are attempting to run an OC4J 10.1.3 JAX-RPC client in WLS, please see the Web Service Migration Guide for instructions."
    Please advise on how to solve this?
    which is the offending jar/library file in Jdeveloper 11g which is causing the above error?.
    Is the above problem there in the WebLogic Server Runtime also?
    Please let me know.
    2) I cannot generate web server proxies also with jdev11g because the wsdl has overloaded methods omitting the name property within the input and output message, ie, they have a null name. therefore Jdeveloper 11g is using the library which
    when called with an overloaded operation that contains null input/output message names, a duplicate error occurs because it sees other operations with the same name. so it is effectively not allowing to create the web service proxies.
    Thanks,
    Appreciate your quick response to the above

    Have you checked the 'Web Service Migration Guide' mentioned in the error message?

  • JAX-RPC screen does not appear when generating a WS proxy

    I'm using JDev 11.1.1.2. When I tried to generate a Web Service proxy, this screen does NOT appear most of the time. I only saw it appear one time. Do you know why?
    It's step 2 of the wizard.
    Client Style
    + JAX-RPC Web Logic Style
    + JAX-WS Style

    Whenever one tries to generate web service proxies for the first time, JDeveloper allows the user to choose the client style (JAX-RPC Web Logic Style OR JAX-WS Style).
    Once the option is selected, JDeveloper automatically adds the dependent jars in the classpath. When one tries to generate the proxies a second time,
    JDeveloper does not provide an option to select the client type. It defaults to the one which was selected for the first time.
    I was able to overcome the problem using the following approach.
    1. For JAX-RPC client style:
    Right Click the Model (or ViewController) project -> Project Properties -> Libraries and Classpath ->
    Add Library -> select JAX-RPC Web Logic Client, JAX-RPC 11 Web Services
    Remove JAX-WS Web Services library (if present)
    2. For JAX-WS client style:
    Right Click the Model (or ViewController) project -> Project Properties -> Libraries and Classpath ->
    Add Library -> JAX-WS Web Services
    Remove JAX-RPC related libraries (if present)
    I am using Jdeveloper Version 11.1.1.4.0
