Does Visa have any buffer/memory or similar?
Hi, I have a comunication with 2 radiomodems
via RS232 port, and I get data with VISA in my laptop and have a Visual
Basic program that controls the frames in the other embbedded PC that
sends me frames of an electronic compass and a GPS. The thing is that
in the VB application I can see the correct frame of the compass to be
sent, but the one that I recive in my laptop is not the correct one, in
fact is the one that was sent 30 secs ago so I can't allow that happen
and I have no idea what could be the problem cause radiomodems transmit
correctly and I made another VI program that only reads the frame and
the same thing happened, so I have the thinking that it can be the VISA
command that stores the frame or something similar. By the way, the
compass samples twice per second, and the radiomodem sends that frame
every 400ms. At the beggining, the compass sampled 8 times per second
and I thought it could be the problem but it remains altough I changed
that. What can be happening?

Sorry, I wanted to say LF not LP. I tried that and didn't do nothing, the same problem. The good new is that I finally found what was the problem. I have to put a delay of 400ms in my VI application and in the VB application. That did that somewhere, the frames were stored. Now I have changed the delay and put the VISA read inside a while with a condition of 400ms of time so now I recive the frames correctly. The problem I have now is that if I stop the VI application but not the VB one, and let the radiomodem send data, when then I run the program, I have a crazy frame showing that had been storing while the VI was stopped, and if that was for a long time, I get an error in VB because it recives a strange frame from my laptop. So, where could frames be storing while my VI application is sttoped???? Do I have to close the VISA port? I tried to do that, closing the serial port every time I sttopped reading and writing, but I only recive strange characters on frames, so it can't be the solution.

I am trying to enter the No. Of my VISA card (which I normaly use for payments) in the billing info of my account and it is not accepted. Does anyone have any idea why?

It is typically not advisable to use "delete from array" in a tight loop. The constant memory reallocations due to array resizing are probably inefficient.

My MacBook Pro (2010) is runnign very slow. This came on all of a sudden. It opens, closes, reboots, etc., all much slower than ever before. I have used the repair disk permissions without any positive result. Does anyone have any ideas?
First, back up all data immediately, as your boot drive might be failing.
Take these steps when you notice the problem.
Step 1
Launch the Activity Monitor application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Activity Monitor in the icon grid.
Select the CPU tab of the Activity Monitor window.
Select All Processes from the menu in the toolbar, if not already selected.
Click the heading of the % CPU column in the process table to sort the entries by CPU usage. You may have to click it twice to get the highest value at the top. What is it, and what is the process? Also post the values for % User, % System, and % Idle at the bottom of the window.
Select the System Memory tab. What values are shown in the bottom part of the window for Page outs and Swap used?
Next, select the Disk Activity tab. Post the approximate values shown for Reads in/sec and Writes out/sec (not Reads in and Writes out.)
Step 2
You must be logged in as an administrator to carry out this step.
Launch the Console application in the same way as above. Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left.
Post the 50 or so most recent messages in the log — the text, please, not a screenshot.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into a message.
Important: Some personal information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out before posting. -
I'm getting a lot of pop up ads. mostly while using Facebook. I'm running Safari on a Macbook Pro running Yosemite. Does anyone have any suggestions for an Ad blocker. I don't see anything in the App store.
I can't swear to it but I don't recall this being a problem pre-Yosemite. I could be wrong. I haven't been real active on Facebook until recently. I see some third party apps out there but am alway wary of non approved software.

RonYou may have installed the "VSearch" trojan. Remove it as follows.
Malware is always changing to get around the defenses against it. These instructions are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.
Back up all data before proceeding.
Step 1
From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Uninstall any extensions you don't know you need, including any that have the word "Spigot," "Trovi," or "Conduit" in the description. If in doubt, uninstall all extensions. Do the equivalent for the Firefox and Chrome browsers, if you use either of those.
Reset the home page and default search engine in all the browsers, if it was changed.
Step 2
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
/Library/LaunchAgents/com.vsearch.agent.plist
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "com.vsearch.agent.plist" selected. Drag the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password.
Repeat with each of these lines:
/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.daemon.plist

Restart the computer and empty the Trash. Then delete the following items in the same way:

Some of these items may be absent, in which case you'll get a message that the file can't be found. Skip that item and go on to the next one.
The problem may have started when you downloaded and ran an application called "MPlayerX." That's the name of a legitimate free movie player, but the name is also used fraudulently to distribute VSearch. If there is an item with that name in the Applications folder, delete it, and if you wish, replace it with the genuine article from mplayerx.org.
This trojan is often found on illegal websites that traffic in pirated content such as movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow.
You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have. The reason is that the Internet criminal behind VSearch has a codesigning certificate issued by Apple, which causes Gatekeeper to give the installer a pass. Apple could revoke the certificate, but as of this writing has not done so, even though it's aware of the problem. This failure of oversight has compromised both Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You can't rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return. -

I haven’t been able to find any.
Since the .m4v file type appears to prevent any video bought or rented from the iTunes Store from being played using any other program the lack of these picture controls - if indeed they are lacking - make it seriously deficient as a video player.Thanks for the rapid response to my enquiry.
I know that it’s possible to adjust the monitor’s performance via System Preferences but it is rather long-winded and I’d rather not alter the settings for the entire screen (and then have to change them all back once finished) when it’s only the video playback window that needs adjustment.
Since iTunes provides various options using the Equalizer for adjusting sound playback it seems rather odd that they don’t have a similar panel for video.
Regarding QuickTime.
Apparently earlier versions (such as 7) had picture controls but the current version (10.4) does not.
I assume Apple are phasing out QT whose development seems to have stopped - or rather gone backwards since it now lacks capabilities it once had - and intend in future to treat iTunes as their universal media player which no doubt makes sense from their point of view.
I wasn’t aware of the .m4v file type when I made my first and probably last video purchase via iTunes yesterday and didn’t realise that it would restrict my options for playback so completely.
The experience has really put me off buying any additional video from the iTunes Store.

I've preordered my iPhone 5 from apple and tried to get a sim from o2, they said I couldn't preorder. Does anyone have any information about this?

Generally buying on contract or buying outright from apple with a separate sim from a provider is little difference in cost.
Work out the total cost over 24 months for the phone+monthly tarrif and you will see.
Also the contracts where the phone is cheapest but have a higher monthly cost tend to be the ones that cost you move over a 24 month period.
For example;
Using O2 UK as an example (other carriers are very similar). For the iPhone 5 64GB;
From Apple £699, plus O2 On & On £20 per month is £1179
From O2, Phone £249, per month, £41. Total over 24 months is £1,233
From O2, Phone £169, per month, £46. Total over 24 months is £1,273
From O2, Phone £69.99, per month, £63. Total over 24 months is £1,581 <Cheapest phone, most expensive
*These all use the same tarrif of unlimited talk,texts and 1GB data. The only difference is how much you want to pay upfront for the phone*
Also worth noting is buying the phone from apple and the O2 tarrif is only a 12 month tarrif so you're not locked in for 24 months.
As you can see, the cheaper the phone, the more the overall amount you pay. -

Warning that the GPU accelerated ray-traced 3D renderer does not have enough free memory to operate
[UPDATE: Memory handling for the ray-traced 3D renderer is greatly improved by installing the After Effects CC (12.2) or After Effects CS6 (11.0.4) update.]
You may see a warning message when using After Effects CC (12.1) that the GPU accelerated ray-traced 3D renderer does not have enough free memory to operate.
When the GPU acceleration of the ray-traced 3D renderer is disabled, the CPU version of the ray-traced 3D renderer will operate.
The message about the GPU-accelerated ray-traced 3D renderer not having enough free memory to operate is because of a change in After Effects CC (12.1) to actually warn you when your computer was in a dangerously low VRAM state. In After Effects CC (12.0) and After Effects CS6 (11.0), a computer with very little VRAM could still try to use the GPU accelerated ray-traced 3D renderer, but it would very, very, very often crash. So, now, After Effects CC (12.1) is just detecting the condition that would lead to a crash, telling you about it, and disabling the GPU acceleration until you have dealt with the problem.
So, how do you deal with this low-memory condition? You free up VRAM. This means closing all applicaitons that use GPU memory, which includes web browsers (yes, web browsers these days use the GPU). It also means disconnecting additional monitors, each of which uses a lot of VRAM. In some cases, restarting the computer is necessary.
This is primarily a problem on Mac OS with cards with 1GB of VRAM, such as the GT 650M in the MacBook Pro. These cards on this OS have just barely enough GPU memory (VRAM) to make use of the GPU-accelerated ray-traced 3D renderer under even the best of circumstances. If you want to use the GPU-accelerated ray-traced 3D renderer, you should really be using a more powerful GPU, one with more VRAM.

i have the exact same problem but with my new macpro with renderay no matter what i do even a simple 3d extraction the renderay crashes! My cuda is full up to date and everything not sure why! if you have any way to resolve this issue would be awesome and help us out since i am on a deadline! at the moment!

I am trying to connect my Macbook pro 2010 to my Samsung HDTV using a mini display port to hdtv cable. Trying to play a slide show in IPhoto but I only get sound with no picture. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I keep saying this over and over, in the hope that people who do a search will find it. Apple cannot possibly test for or be reponsible for the bazillion combinations of adapter, cables, and TV's out there. The only monitors that are 100% guaranteed to work with the MacBook Pro are the Cinema Displays and Thunderbolt Displays, because, they're made by Apple. They're expensive, but they work perfectly.
My guess is that you bought a cheap MDP to HDMI cable, or have a defective one. From my reading of these boards over the past few months, cheap cables have a high failure rate. And the regular priced ones have only a slightly less of one. Try a new one. Make sure you do not damage the Thunderbolt port. -
I have a new Mac Mini and I found AdWare called TakeOverSearchAssetsMac and SearchProjects on it. I have been unable to remove it. Does anyone have any ideas on how to remedy this?
