Door phone, coverage path

Hi, I am configuring an analog push button door phone that I want to follow a certain call path until someone answers. I come from a traditional PBX environment where I had this implemented succesfully with time-of-day coverage paths (Avaya terms).
I have the phone hotdialing a number when the button is pushed, I just need a point in the right direction so that I can get the DN to follow a certain path until a user amswers. This path will change based on the time of day also.
Example: Push button - extension 100 rings, no answer - ring extension 200, etc. After 5 pm? then ring extension 300, then 400 so on.
Thanks for your help.
Dave

Assuming u have CM 4.1 or later.
TOD routing is possible with partitions, time periods and time schedules.
1. Configure extension 100 with call forward no answer set to 200. so if 100 doesnt answer, 200 will ring.
2. Define a time period in Callmanager, say its called as BusinessHours (M-F, 8am-5pm). 3. Add this time period to a time schedule. 4. Apply this time schedule to a partition that you define, say its called DoorPhonePn. So partition DoorPhonePn is active only during M-F, 8am-5pm.
5. Create a second partition say DoorPhoneBackupPn. You may or may not define a time schedule for this pattern.
6. Set Call Forward No Answer on extn 300 to ring extn 400. So if 300 doesnt answer, 400 rings.
7. When you setup a Plar in Callmanager, you have to define a null translation pattern. For TOD to work with Plar, you will need to define two null translation patterns.
8. Put Null translation pattern 1 in DoorPhonePn partition
9. Set Null translation pattern 1 to translate to extn 100.
10. Put Null translation pattern 2 in DoorPhoneBackupPn
11. Set Null translation pattern 2 to translate to extn 300.
12. Make sure the translation patterns have a CSS that has access to the partitions in which extn, 100 and 300 are.
13. Create a new CSS, called DoorPhoneCSS and list the partitions in this order.
DoorPhonePn
DoorPhoneBackupPn
During business hours, DoorPhonePn is active
So it will plar to 100.
After hours, DoorPhoneBackupPn is active, So it will plar to 300.
Here is a link on how to setup basic plar.

  • GPS Maps Outside of Phone Coverage when Traveling

*Is there anyway to download maps for your destination using a computer and then onto the iphone before you go?*
Most people need a map when they are traveling, not in their local area.
To download maps using the limited 3G network coverage while traveling is EXPENSIVE.
A lot of places just do not have 3G and using 2G to download maps on the fly is SLOW & EXPENSIVE.
Many places interesting places in the world do not have any phone coverage at all.
So how useful is the GPS function on the iphone if you are in an area where you cannot download a map.
Is there anyway to download maps for your destination using a computer and then onto the iphone before you go?

Perhaps you have not done much traveling. I have.
I am also very experienced at reading all types of maps, including
topographical maps on land and depth contour maps and so on at sea.
So map reading is not the problem for me.
Actually getting good maps, that are easy to use even from guide books is
quite difficult. It is not really convenient to have to carry a heavy
guidebook around every where. In some places the maps from guide books
have inadequate or incorrect coverage. In Japan or China it can be difficult to
come to grips with the calligraphy, sometimes there just aren't any road signs.
So a GPS map device becomes are very useful piece of kit. Unfortunately as much as I like Mac stuff and wanted the iPhone for this purpose, it is in its current
form not very useful for travelers.
The Nokia maps can be preloaded (so at least you can avoid expensive download costs) but the coverage is quite limited. Samsung have a new 16+16Gb GPS phone that with pre-purchased GPS maps could do the job.
Apple could fairly easily fix the iPhone GPS software so that you can preload all the Google maps for a country before you leave. After all you generally know where you are going. If Apple was to do this then I would get the iPhone
but until then I will keep looking for a better solution.

  • UC320W and Pantel Door Phone - Almost working !!!

I have an older single line analogue, single button Pantel doorphone that is working fine with a Cisco UC320W on its analogue port.
However, it does not detect disconnect, and the person at the door gets to listen to around 40 seconds of number busy after the doorphone press has been answered by a human and the call terminated. Is there a way to fix this please?
I am not sure whether this is a Pantel issue or a Cisco issue so have also posted on Pantel customer support website!

    Hi Oren,
we tried the configuration you've stated (we have a SPA9000 and a Pantel/Pancode IP Door Phone, but the door phone never manages to communicate with the extensions... And it's not also found from the SPA9000 ... Have you added the door phone as a client to the SPA9000 and if yes, how did you achieved that ?

  • Analog door phone to dial phones configuration

I have a remote office that I'm trying to setup CME.  Everything works for now except one thing.  There is a analog phone installed on outside of front door for visitors, deliveries, etc.  Trying to setup this phone to ring automatically reception desk and also enable for others to answer the line from their phone when there is no one available in the reception area.  I was thinking of connecting this door phone to one of the FXS ports on the router and configure PLAR to ring reception desk phone.  Any suggestion?  how do I setup other phones to be able to answer/pick up when no one at the reception desk?  Pickup group?  Thanks.

  • 2 uc500 tasks? building door locks and door phone?

    Hello,
Every install seems to present unique requsts from each client.
Client has a uc540.  Currently they have a keyfob door lock system at the front and back doors of the building.  They have a phone/speaker at the front door.  Appears to be avaya - but so not sure.  This is all tied into an antiquated phone system the uc540 will replace.
When a person arrives at the front door, they hit the intercom.  This rings 3 different extensions.  Then the user at the phone can bunch a sequence or hard button on the phone to unlock the front door.
Anyone provided a solution like this for the uc540?  I've seen some remote door locks that operate thru SIP a year or so ago I believe.  I know how to configure a "lobby" phone that when picked up, dials a dedicated extension and immediately goes 2-way intercom.   I imagine there would be something along the same lines where a picked up handset could auto-dial a parallel hunt group?
    Thanks

    Hello,
I would reference this document: https://supportforums.cisco.com/docs/DOC-9496
That doc discusses a door phone configuration with the UC. This requires CLI to configure the door phone as a SIP endpoint.
    Thanks,

    Hi Alex.
    Thanks for your reply.
I'll try to implement those commands when i get to a client site next time.
I tried to put that phone on voice vlan and connected to a switch port which is used for normal ip phone but it was no connectivity after that i couldn't ping CME. Once i assigned data vlan ip address the connectivity was restored, and the door phone was trying to connect. I think it should work on both vlans.

AT&T recommends MicroCell.  IT DOES NOT WORK WITH iPhone 4 or iPhone 3gs running iOS 5.0.1.  Is there any femtocell that will work with iphones?  Tired of sitting on hold to fix problem that needs a programming update!

    Works fine with my wife's iPhone 4 running 5.0.1, my 4S running 5.0.1 and my daughter's 3GS running 5.0.1.

  • Door Bell feature with Callmanager and IP Phones

I know there is got to be some sort of Door Bell device out there on the market which will integrate with Callmanager or Unity.
Currently we have a Nortel PABX and have this door bell device feature called "design 2000" which is just an analog device extension which can either call a group of phones or single phone and from there onwards the phone would want to answer the Door phone then enter 5 * which will send a DTMF tone to this device, which should then open the door. Basically the Door Bell phone device just waits for DTMF tones.
Want to make sure if anyone has ever tried it or has any other ideas on how i can get this feature to work with our solution.
I have a VG248 and ATA188 which i think will do what we want it to do for the analog part of it. Plus the ip phone could dial either certain 2 digits to open the door or have a Softkey, which is labeled DOOR.
    Cheers,

    Hi,
    Thanks for your prompt answer.
Our problem is "simple" I can't find a video door that works with Cisco Call Manager 4.1 H323. There are lots of devices that works with SIP...
My question is which equipment you found to work with CallManager... I need in fact with something that works with ATA H323..
Thanks in advance for your cooperation

  • How do I make my phone reconnect to the data network?

I'm in an area that's allegedly full 3G coverage (40324 zip code), plenty of red on the map. But inside the office, I barely see one bar of phone coverage, and if I'm lucky I get 1x data connectivity.
I'd be fine with this if the data connection stayed stable throughout the workday. It doesn't, and I have to fully power my LG Vortex off and back on to get it to try and reconnect. There doesn't seem to be any other way of making the phone try and pick up the data connection again. I'm doing this multiple times a day.
If I go outdoors, the phone won't automatically reconnect then either, even though it gets a 3G connection when I power cycle it. Is there any way other than shutting down and restarting to force the phone to try and make a data connection again?

I'm the OP and I never marked this as solved. There is no option under Options to select "Not the solution" that I can see.
Anyway, as I noted above, enabling global roaming for all trips seems to have corrected the issue where the data connection drops and could only be reestablished by power cycling the phone. That solution came from a separate thread. I appreciate everyone's feedback.

  • 3G switching back to EDGE because of poor ATT coverage major battery drain?

I have the orig iPhone, my friend cam to my office today with the 3G iPhone. We kinda marked off all the areas that the 3G would drop and EDGE pick up. The 3G phone basically had more areas that it did not have coverage than it did. Every time the phone would re-scan, and EDGE would pop back up. It probably dropped to EDGE 20 times as we walked different areas over lunch. After seeing that 3G does not have good coverage anywhere by my house or office I think I will wait for the 3G coverage to get better... I am in Orange County So Cal, was thinking the coverage would be perfect?? Also, it seems all the back & forth with the phone trying always to be on 3G when the coverage is poor drained the battery to 20% in a 2 hour period, with push off, screen down, wifi off local settings off.
Anybody have any benchmarks on the amount of draining happens during the phone trying to always scan for a 3G connection?

While I don't have any true benchmarks, I can say that I've tested the battery life with personal usage both with 3G on and 3G off for a day to see what was up with my extremely poor battery life. I can say that turning 3G off made a huge difference for me. It increased the battery life of my iPhone 3G to about what it was with my original iPhone. I can say that I'm probably getting roughly 1.5x - 2x the battery life I was with 3G enabled by just turning it off.
With 3G on but little to no coverage, the phone is ramping up the work it's doing to try to obtain and keep that connection. If it's just not available, you'll definitely see the phone's battery draining faster than normal as it tries to acquire signal. Remember the days of poor phone coverage in general? Phones drained batteries in much the same way.
Sure, it ***** to turn 3G off since it's something that I'm basically paying for but I'd much rather have a phone that makes it through an entire day of usage rather than one I'm finding I have to be careful about how much I use it just so I don't have to charge it twice in one day. It's more desirable to me to be able to use my phone for a longer period of time than to have a fast data connection. Besides, WiFi isn't as big of a battery drainer as the 3G connection is so I'm perfectly content with switching that on if I need fast web access. Also, there's nothing stopping me from turning 3G back on when I'm in a good coverage area (basically anywhere outside around here... I'm in Orange County, too) at which point the battery performance is better anyway.

  • Enterprise solution for Mobile phones using Wi-Fi

    Hi All,
Not sure if this is the right forum.

Just wondering what alternative solutions or software we can use so we can somehow get our users' mobile to work.

Unfortunately, I am also not sure how mobile phone carriers will like this if mobile phones will go to an Enterprise wifi instead of their own network.

  • Any way to boost mobile coverage in weak area? Android

I go to a place in the Colorado mountains right on the edge of Verizon coverage.  I used to get consistent mobile connectiviity, but now sometimes I don't.  It shows one bar, but calls or texts may or may not go though.  Does anyone know of anything I can do with my phone itself to increase the likihood of successful phone coverage?  I have a Samsung Stratosphere.

Hey there,  userx! Thanks for sharing your service concerns. We want to be there to support you, too! I don't know of a way to boost service on the device itself, as it's designed on a fundamental level to capture the strongest signal available. I don't know what this place in Colorado may be, but I may have another suggestion. If this place is a residence with high speed/broadband internet, you may also consider a Network Extender: http://vz.to/IHRT6h. My father loves his!
