Double Pics?

I just installed Leopard and went through All Images in Cover Flow and noticed that I have duplicates of every photo, one as .jpg and one as .JPG. Does this mean all of my images are doubled on my hardrive, thus taking up twice the space? An easy way to delete doubles?

have you tried looking at the Path in the bottom of the finder to see if the files are in different places?

I would suggest;
- using a debugger. This will show if the arrays are the same or not. avgFace will be the same each time for each pics as its the same array.
- use nextDouble() as nextFloat() is less accurate (I am guessing not a problem here)]
- don't use pic.clone(), just create a new array at the start of each loop.

What am I doing wrong? I never have enough space! Help!!!

I have Mac OS X version 10.5.8. 148GB.
I moved all my music to an external disk because I keep getting a notification that I'm running out of space. I cleaned the cache and cookies and trash and all that with CCleaner and Cocktail application.
At the moment I have only 7GB of free space. 34.4GB are photos which I'll move away and no music files at all. Even after I move the photos to an external CD, I still have more than 100GB that suppose to be some applications (which I don't think take 100GB space) and I don't know what else.....
Can you tell me what could take so much space? Are there other files except cookies and the cache that the computer remember every time I surf the internet or use applications? Does it double pics of other files every time I open it?
Should I back up photos and files and restore my computer? and if Yes, how do I do that? and please if you can explain in simple english. I don't have much background in computers and to take it for tech help... they isn't an apple store here in my country, only an outside company that can help but it cost a lot of money just to give it to them for check up :-/

I cannot see my photos in iphoto library - I tried to restore with Time Machine and that doubled the number of photos (copies) but I still cannot see the images - the events are there but no thumbnails although the number of pics per event is correct...

Can someone help me see my pictures again in iphoto? 3 weeks ago while uploading a video from iphoto to Facebook, my events thumbnails all disappeared and were replaced by black squares - the event names and number of pics in each remain but when I click on the event, I only get squares where the pics should be - when I click those squares, I get a square with a triangle and an exclamation mark in middle.
Apple had emailed me about defective disks in iMacs so I took mine to the Apple Store and they replaced my HD then reinstalled from my backup via Time Machine - I still cannot see my pics! I tried to reinstall from an earlier Time Machine date - that copied everything and now my HD has double the amount of data but I still cannot see my pictures!
I would be thankful for any guidance on how to retrieve my pictures...

iPhoto 6 and later: Rebuilding the iPhoto library

Please help me! I imported my pics to iphoto but I can't open them now. I can't see them on full Screen/edit them like before. All I get is a exclamation mark when I double click on them. I don't have copies, can someone please help me?

The ! turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents.
What version of iPhoto? Assuming 09 or later...
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

If the shows are in fact still on the pad, they will be found in the videos app, not the music or I tunes app. Look there and see if they are still there.
If you don't see them there, go to the searchlight screen ( farthest left home page) and type in the name of one of the shows. If it is on the pad, hiding somewhere, this will find it.
If they are not there, they should not be using up space.
To get them back onto your pad, plug in and sync again. Make sure you transfer purchases first. Before you sync, take a look at the video tab in your I tunes, and check what you want and don't want synced.

When I double click on events the pics does not open. I have to go to edit to get the pic up on the screen. I can not enlarge the photo either. I have tried to rebulid the libary

I have iPhoto 11.When I double click on an event the pics do not spread out. I just get a yellow frame around the event. This is when I double click with left finger. With right finger option is slideshow. I can not enlage a pic with double click either. I have rebuild the libary but no difference . Can anyone help me please ?

Sounds like a trackpad issue. Try changing the trackpad's settings. Post in the appropriate Mac model forum. If you have a mouse available try it to see if you can get iPhoto to do what you want. This can narrow down where the problem is.

Since upgrading to Aperture 3.3, when I try to sync photos to my iPhone, I'm getting all versions in a stack loading onto my phone, which makes for some ugly pics, as well as taking up nearly double the space.

Could it be the problem lies with iTunes and not Aperture? iTunes 10.6.3 was released on the same day as Aperture 3.3 -- June 11.
If someone has a configuration to test an older version of Aperture with iTunes 10.6.3 to see if the problem exists, that could be helpful.

Horizontal pics going black when double clicked

We have a Mac OS X version 10.6.8 We are using iPhoto and have been for about 2 years. Are current version is iPhoto 09 version 8.1.2 (424).
My husband and I have 2 different accounts set up on our iMAC. It has always been set up this way. In the last 4-6 months we are having issues with double clicking to enlarge a photo. It appears to be only horizontal photos. I am now noticing if I upload the photos on my account, when he opens iphoto in his account and double clicks on horizontal photos the screen goes black. However I can see them fine. When he uploads photos on his account and then I open iphoto in my account, the same things happens. This is also with iphoto closed in the opposite account. Any thoughts?

So I did find the shared iphoto library file. I highlighted it and wetn to file, get info adn under sharing & permission, all of the privileges are Read & write. However only my husband, staff and everyone were listed. So I add myself and the issue is fixed. We just discovered last night that there was a sharing issue with iphoto. Thank you for asking that question. It gave me another place to look.
I am noticing that when open iphoto it is taking longer for the screen and pics to load. Any idea why?

Why I can't use double click to open files, pics and videos?

I had bought new retina macbook pro 15 in, everething was working perfect I was open files, pics, videos with double click in the mouse pad normally but I do not why now is not working I can not use double click in the pad for open files. I have to open it using two finguer click or right click and then click open or open with, why is that happening?

in system preference i had select (tap to click) with one finguer, (secundary click) click or tab with two finguers, tracking speed fast and in the mouse preference I had select (tracking speed, scrolling speed, double click) fast and primary mouse button left.

Does anyone have an issue when they edit a pic using the built in editor on the 4s; and when you upload the edited pic or send it, the original one is sent. i even double check my photo in my album and it shows the edited pic

i have even double checked the album and the album has the EDITED pic but for some reason when uploaded or sent the original is what goes thru... makes me very irritated! not sure if its a setting or some bug... any suggestions???

I think it depends on how you share it. Sometimes when I email it to myself it retains the edits, but I read that when people sync their phone it sometimes does not.

Zoom problem. Pics automatically zoom in when double clicked. iPhoto 9.5.1

When I double click and open a picture from the photos libraray, they open with a zoom in on only a portion of the picture. When I click/press on Zoom button it reverts picture to original full size image. But once I let go of button it zooms back into corner. Every single pic zooms into the same bottom left hand portion. A navigator box opens that allows me to teframe but once that is closed, it again zooms back into same section.

Try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete the contents the following folder:
User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: For Mavericks, 10.9, go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:
where you can check the Show Library Folder checkbox.
If that fails as a test launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library. Import some photos and test to see if the same problem persists. Does it?

Pics don;t open in the Edit window when double clicked

Need some help please.
I had some problems with iPhoto and after trying to rebuild it etc etc etc, decided to reinstall everything. I backed up the entire library to a DVD, deleted the current library and then created a new one.
Placed DVD in drive and then dragged the the folder iPhoto library into Pictures (which was empty)
When I opened iPhoto everything looked ok. All the folders were there and all the pics were where they should have been.
Unfortunately I cannot open the pics in the Edit window. Just shows a Grey square with an Exclamation mark in the centre.
I have searched all the other threads but still haven't found any information that has helped.
Any ideas?

The ! or ? turns up when iPhoto loses the connection between the thumbnail in the iPhoto Window and the file it represents. The most common cause of this is User Activity in the iPhoto Library Folder. Have you altered, moved or renamed anything in the iPhoto Library Folder?
If you haven't, then try rebuilding the database. Hold down the apple and option (or alt) keys and launch iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
If the rebuild doesn't work, then you will need to create and populate a new library:
To create and populate a new library:
Note this will give you a working library with the same film rolls and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, books, calendars etc.
Move the iPhoto Library Folder to the desktop
Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
Go into the iPhoto Library Folder on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual rolls to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library Folder on your desktop.
In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.

Just managed to successfully download the update, having retried five or six times. I did unplug my phone while the download was taking place (had asked iTunes to download only, not to update) -- suspect this had no bearing on it whatsoever, and that persistence is the only way here.

IPhoto 09: try to import pics from Nikon camera and tells me it does not recognise JPG format. Also if I double click an image in my library, screen goes black and program crashes. Any hints or fixes?
