Double quotes issue with GUI_UPLOAD

Hello Gurus,
I'm uploading a tab delimited file from my PC using GUI_UPLOAD. I've a description field (Char 40) in my input file which contains characters like double quotes or commas or single quotes. Whenever there is a comma or a double quote in the desc field in my input file, the field value is uploaded into the program as the actual value with double quotes in front of the value and at the end of the value.
Say if I'm uploading <b>steel 1"</b>, then it is uploaded into the program as <b>"steel 1""</b>. Any ideas why is this and how to fix it.

Appreciate ur answer Anand. I want to know why I get the value with double quotes in front of it and towards the end of it. I know that I can get rid of the extra double quotes with offsetting and replace statement...Thats not what I was expecting. I want to know why the extra double quotes are coming into the picture.
FYI, I'm on ECC 6.0 and the snippet of my code is:
DATA: lv_file TYPE string.
lv_file = p_file.

Issue with GUI_UPLOAD

Hello All,
I am using the function module GUI_UPLOAD for uploading a notepad (tab delimitted). My file consists of 3000 records. I have passed the parameters filetype as 'ASC' and separator as 'X'.
When I am trying to upload the file it is taking too much time and results in ABAP dump (Time Out).
I have found that there is one record which is causing the problem. I have removed that record and uploaded. This time it got uploaded fine. But when I compare this record with other records, I didn't find any difference.
The same file is gettng uploaded when I use the FM 'UPLOAD'. But this is taking much time.
Length of the record in the file is 4809. I guess this is not the issue, because I have uploaded files which is having a record length of 7500.

Hi,
Don't use UPLOAD it is obsolete which is replaced by GUI_UPLOAD.As far as the Dump is considered there can be a minor issue with data format.These are rare issues.
Just check to download using :
CLASS:CL_GUI_FRONTEND_SERVICES
METHOD:GUI_UPLOAD

URGENT!! CELLWRAPPER single and double quot issues???

REP-50003: Bad parameter: CELLWRAPPER='I get this error whenever I try and use single or double quotes as a cellwrapper.
However if I do [SPACE][SPACE] as a cell wrapper this works fine?Is this a bug? I'm sure we have version "10.1.2.0.2"?

Issue with field separator in GUI_UPLOAD

I believe the field separator parameter will work for Excel files..You have to get the internal table in a string format..and then use split statement..

Double Quotes In LOV Return Value Being Replaced With &qu ot; By APEX 4

My company recently upgraded our development and test boxes to APEX 4.0.2, which we have been wanting for a while now. We discovered that since the upgrade some of our checkboxes and radio groups no longer work as expected. What I mean by this is that the return values being checked for were not correct, and on several occasions we received PL/SQL errors related to numeric to character conversion issues.
After debugging some it turns out that we have the following LOV query for one of our Checkboxes:

The return value for the LOV is setup so that it would return a 508 compliant checkbox. We were told we needed a title for each value of a checkbox or radio group to be 508 compliant. These titles must also be relevant to the selection being made, hence the substitution string being used in the return value.
What I discovered in all of this is that APEX 3.2 did not convert the double quotes in our return value to &qu ot;, but APEX 4.0.2 does. This causes the value of any given checkbox or radio group to look like the following:
value="1&qu ot; title=&qu ot;This is the statement that I have made."
And what we are looking for, and what APEX used to do is this:
value="1" title="This is the statement that I have made."
Does anyone know a way to prevent APEX from converting the double quotes to &qu ot;, or is there a way to insert an element attribute for each checkbox or radio group value that contains a substitution string?

Issue with PTO (Paid Time Off) quota generation

We have an issue with quota generation of PTO for our employees.
The issue goes like this:
We have a Paid time off for employees 5weeks( 200 hrs) for employees who have worked less than 5 years.
we have paid time off for employees 6 weeks ( 240 hrs) for employees who have worked more than 5 years.
we have the following logic that has to go in this config:
-- Our fiscal year starts on Feb 1st and ends on Jan end or Feb starts which has a full week of working days. ( ex: if 01/31/2012 falls on a Thursday the following Monday which has full 5 day working week would be the end of the fiscal year).
-- Depending on the working hours of the employees and the date of joining for the first year ( for new hires)0041 info type the eligibility gets varied and reduced. Ex( employees who joins on start of fiscal year and works 40hrs per week schedules is eligible for 200hrs of PTO. Employees who join in the month of august and works for 35 hrs per week ( i.e mid of fiscal year) would get 91 hrs of PTO.
I need to put this in the system. I am thinking this could be done with out tweaking PCR.I need help in configuring this in Absence quotas as to what are the things i need change in system config and how do i do it. Please help with some screen shots if possible. I really need this to get it done ASAP. Looking forward for help.

We use TM00 schema. Can i call TS15 and TS 12 rules into TM00 acheieve my issue of quota entilements?
Iam doing this because my businees needs to see if an employee chages his work schedule from 40 to 30 or 20 etc.. the PTO has to vary accordingly.
As the minimum eligibility is to work for 20 hrs to avail the PTO days. If at any point the employee drops it under 20 he will not be eligible till he work any this >= 20hrs per month so the evaluation has to check periodically to update the quota availability.... I need help plz suggest ...

Replacing " (double quote) with ' (single quote)

Hi there,
I have the following method to manipulate user input. All I want to do is, to replace the double quote with a single quote. The implementation I tried was,
this.replace(desc, "\"", "'");
This does not work for me. It jsut removes the double quote and does not introduces the single quote. Could any one please advise?

SSIS importing comma delimited with double quote text qualifier - Works in VS - SQL Job ignores text qualifier and fails (truncation)

I've created an SSIS package to import a comma delimited file (csv) with double quotes for a text qualifier ("). Some of the fields contain the delimiter inside the qualified text. An example row is:

In SSIS I've specified the text qualifier as ". The sample output in the connection manager looks great. The package runs perfectly from VS and when manually executed on the SSIS server itself. The problem comes when I schedule the package to run via SQL
job. At this point the package ignores the text qualifier, and in doing so pushes half of a field into the next available column. But instead of having too many columns, it concatenates the last 2 columns ignoring the delimiter. For example (pipes are fields):

So the failure happens when the last half of a field is too large to fit into the next available field. In the case above _John" is 6 characters where the IS2 field is char(3). This would cause a truncation failure, which is the error I receive from the
job history.
To further test this I created a failure flow in my data flow to capture the records failing to be pulled from the source csv. Out of ~5000 records, ~1200 are failing, and every one of the failures has a comma delimiter inside the quoted text with a 'split'
length greater than the next ordinal field. The ones without the comma were inserted as normal and records where the split fit into the next ordinal column where also imported, with the last field being concatenated w/delimiter. Example records when selected
from table:

To further ensure this is the problem, I changed the csv file and flat file connection manager to pipe delimited, and sure enough every record makes it in perfectly from the SQL job execution.

Since a lot of our data comes in via comma delimited flat files, I really need a fix for this. If not I'll have to rebuild all my files when I import them to use pipe delimiters instaed of commas. I'd like to avoid the extra processing overhead if possible.
Also, is this a known bug? If so can someone point me to the posting of said bug?
Edit: I can't ask the vendor to change the format to pipe delimited because it comes from a federal government site.

Just wanted to share my experience of this for anyone else since I wasted a morning on it today.
I encountered the same problem where I could run the package fine on my machine but when I deployed to a server and ran the package via dtexec, the " delimeter was being replaced with _x0022_ and columns all slurped up together and overflowing columns/truncating
data etc.
Since I didn't want to manually hack the DTS XML and can't install updates, the solution I used was to set an expression on the textdelimiter field of the flat file connection with the value "\"" (a double quote). That way, even if the one stored in XML
gets bodged somewhere along the way, it is overridden with the correct value at run time. The package works fine everywhere now.

JS - surrounding selected text with double quotes

I have a working script which places brackets around selected text in the main body of my document (not in a table), but when I changed the script to insert double curly quotes, the script wont work.
Why wont this JS work (script stalls on the var line):

PS The quotes are showing as three straight quotes above, but in my script they are two straight double quotes surrounding either a right or a left curly double quote.

Perhaps there's a Smart Quotes interpreter in JS? Who knows.
If you find it failing again, try inserting the quotes as Unicode values, as these should not be subject to any translating.
I.e.,
>insertionPoints[-1].contents = "\u201c";

StringTokenizer class problem with strings in double quotes

Hello Technocrats,
I have a problem with tokenizing following string enclosed in (). (abc," India, Asia", computer engineer). My separator is ",", thus StringTokenizer class gives me 4 tokens namely abc, "India, Asia" and computer engineer. But I require that String in double quotes should be a single token. How to achieve this using StringTokenizer class? Or is there any other way?

Upon closer inspection, you are right, it was a trick question. You need to look for commas that follow an even number of quotation marks for the separators. Since my previous snippet was not converted, I assume you have an earlier LV version so I have attached an example in 8.6. You can get rid of the quotes if you like (exercise for the reader).

I'm on 11.1.2 on Windows 2008 and I cannot for the life of me get a delimited report to generate with a double-quote cell wrapper.
I've tried every suggestion that I can find, including the ones in this thread, but nothing seems to work.
I reliably used delimiter=',' and cellwrapper='"' with 9i and 10g reports, but I can't find anything that does the trick in 11g.
Any hints?

A little update....
I was able to successfully generate a comma-separated report with a double-quote cellwrapper by creating a wrapper.cmd file as above with only the following contents:

BUT... I could only get this to work if I submitted the job using a URL to rwservlet. It still doesn't work with rwclient or rwrun. It's better than nothing, but I'd really like this to work with rwclient.
