Download_my_file example from HTMLDB 2 day developer Guide

Hi -
I'm using htmldb/APEX v 1.6. I'm following the Oracle HTMLDB 2 Day Developer Guide chapter 8. In this example, we are uploading files to be stored in the database as BLOB's. Then we are downloading the files.
The example works as advertised until we create the custom table and procedure called download_my_file.
Using the default table and procedure, the file upload and download work correctly.
Using the procedure called download_my_file fails with error:
[Thu Feb  4 13:11:18 2010] [error] [client 100.100.100.11] [ecid: 1265307078:100.100.100.202:18991:0:163,0] mod_plsql: /pls/htmldb/HTMLDB.DOWNLOAD_MY_FILES HTTP-404 \nHTMLDB.DOWNLOAD_MY_FILES: PROCEDURE DOESN'T EXIST\n
Here is my version of procedure download_my_file:
(p_file in number) AS
v_mime VARCHAR2(48);
v_length NUMBER;
v_file_name VARCHAR2(2000);
Lob_loc BLOB;
BEGIN
SELECT MIME_TYPE, BLOB_CONTENT, name,DBMS_LOB.GETLENGTH(blob_content)
INTO v_mime,lob_loc,v_file_name,v_length
FROM file_subjects_1
WHERE id = p_file;
-- set up HTTP header
-- use an NVL around the mime type and
-- if it is a null set it to application/octect
-- application/octect may launch a download window from windows
owa_util.mime_header( nvl(v_mime,'application/octet'),FALSE );
-- set the size so the browser knows how much to download
htp.p('Content-length: ' || v_length);
-- the filename will be used by the browser if the users does a save as
htp.p('Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="'||substr(v_file_name,instr(v_file_name,'/')+1)|| '"');
-- close the headers
owa_util.http_header_close;
-- download the BLOB
wpg_docload.download_file( Lob_loc );
end download_my_file;

    Hello,
    I want to do the "web service" example from the 2-Day-Developer Guide.
    I give the application my proxy server address in the format address:port and go through the assistant creating the web service. After selecting the IBM UDDI-service and searching for %xMethods% as business name I get the following error:

    What have I done wrong?

  • Documentation for HTMLDB 2-day developer does not match sample appln

    The documentation for the Oracle HTML DB 2-Day Developer no longer matches the sample application and interface provided by Oracle. It used to work several months ago but the online sample workspace and applications appear to have been upgraded.
    Where would I get updated documentation?

    Hi Janos,
    Although things are improving, there is generally no enforcement of the filter rules established in the service metadata - this a deficiency in the Gateway engine in my view. If a metadata document can be thoroughly checked for element types, etc, why can't the same be done for filters and addressability?
    If an entity is marked as 'requires filter' but no filter is actually implemented, you can waste a lot of time trying to discover the filter pattern!
    The bottom line is, if you are building the service yourself, you put in the logic for filter patterns you have designed. If you are using a published service and there is no documentation available, the only way to determine if a filter is actually supported is to experiment or examine the provider model code.
    regards
    Ron.

    Hi Mike,
    I hear what you are saying and I believe you. But the error you describedis the known issue related to Internet access
    (down to the exact line numbers in the stack trace). Is it possible yourconnection was down last time you attempted
    hot-deploy?
    If you are sure your Internet connection is up, I would recommend tryinghot-deploy again. If it still does not work,
    something very strange is going on. At that point I would recommendtrying the workaround anyway or escalating the issue
    to BEA Support.
    Now my curiosity is piqued so I hope you'll let me know either way.

    Hi Mike,
    I would bet that you are working on a machine that doesn't have
    Internet
    access, correct?
    The problem is that the EBCC is trying and failing to access the J2EEapplication descriptor
    dtd from Sun's website.
    If you can't get Internet access, here is the workaround:
    - save the attached file to your harddrive (just save it to c:\)
    - edit the application.xml file for your project as follows:
    - first copy the entire DOCTYPE declaration and save it somewhere
    in
    a
    separate text file (in case want to revert back to it later)
    - edit the DOCTYPE declaration so that it looks like this:
    <!DOCTYPE application PUBLIC '-//Sun Microsystems, Inc.//DTD J2EEApplication 1.3//EN' 'file:///application_1_3.dtd'>
    ( notice that the java.sun.com web address is replaced with the URI
    to
    the file on your harddrive)
    - save your changes and hotdeploy will work with or without Internetaccess
    Thanks,

  • Oracle Database Express Edition 2 Day Plus Java Developer Guide??

    I posted in the JDeveloper forum, as well as sending email via your feedback link found on the tutorial but I am a little disappointed by this:
    The Oracle® Database Express Edition 2 Day Plus Java Developer Guide has some errors in it.
    in Windows, I simply chose, start
    -> programs -> Oracle Database Express Edition -> Go To Database Home Page -> click documentation from the link -> and run the Oracle® Database Express Edition 2 Day Plus Java Developer Guide tutorial.
    the problem is there are mistake(s) in the tutorial, for example: section 4-19 is this:
    "The complete code for the method should now be as follows:
    public boolean authenticateUser(String userid, String password,
    HttpSession session) throws SQLException { "
    it needs to be this:
    public boolean authenticateUser(String jdbcURL, String userid, String password,
    HttpSession session) throws SQLException {
    Also:
    there is no mention that :
    the port and SID must also be passed in the
    ds.setURL(jdbcUrl) found in the authenticateUser() method, or an exception is thrown. This differs from value of the jdbcUrl string found in the getDBConnection() , which makes it hard to figure out
    The tutorial is great even if it doesn't work out of the box, but I am disappointed that errata or completed code for this project is not available, especially when you explicitely point to it via the steps mentioned above.
    Thanks,
    Patrick

    The tutorial seems to be using the old JDeveloper 10.1.2.

  • ORA-01403: no data found when calling a web service from HTMLDB

    I am working through Section 6 How to Implement a Web Service of the HTML DB 2 Day Developer tutorial. I can get the first example to work but not the second one. I am able to add the web reference and create the form and report. However, when I run the page and click submit, I get ORA-01403: no data found.
    When I test the service, this is what shows in the Message Request:
    <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?><SOAP-ENV:Envelope
    xmlns:SOAP-ENV="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/"
    xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/1999/XMLSchema-instance"
    xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/1999/XMLSchema">
    <SOAP-ENV:Header><namesp1:Header xmlns:namesp1="http://www.xignite.com/services/"><namesp1:Username xsi:type="xsd:string"></namesp1:Username><namesp1:Password xsi:type="xsd:string"></namesp1:Password><namesp1:Tracer xsi:type="xsd:string"></namesp1:Tracer></namesp1:Header></SOAP-ENV:Header><SOAP-ENV:Body><namesp1:ListFuturesByExchange xmlns:namesp1="http://www.xignite.com/services/"><namesp1:Exchange xsi:type="xsd:string">NYMEX</namesp1:Exchange></namesp1:ListFuturesByExchange></SOAP-ENV:Body></SOAP-ENV:Envelope>
    Nothing shows in the Message Response.
    I have also tried to call a simple web service that I created in .NET. It exhibits the same behavior. I am able to add the reference and create the form. But when I click the submit button, I get ORA-01403: no data found.
    Windows 2000
    HTMLDB 2.0.0.00.49
    Oracle9i 9.2.0.6.0
    Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    I'm having a similar problem!, Although, distressing as it is to observe the lack of response this thread has had for 9 months, I'm still seeking help here!
    I created a web service reference according to the following WSDL : "http://OgAppExpress:[email protected]:5555/invoke/OgAdminUtils.pub:WSDL_HLR" (operation name="getSubscriberInfoByMSISDN") and a form on that web service, all of which went very nicely. But! When I ran the form, inserted the value ("3546933599") into the parameter and pressed submit.... => "ORA-01403: no data found"
    The debug action displays very limited information and sheds no light on the problem :( Multiple attempts, on recreating the project from scratch, have resulted in the same utter failure! Needless to say, this nulls the affect of my Prozac proscription....
    Is there anybody out there who can help me and defend APEX's reputation?

  • BLOBs Oauth2 in New RESTful svcs developer guide

    Hi, All,
    In case you are not aware, there is a new RESTful Services Developer Guide  -- but it is in the download for the Listener 2.0.2!!  Not sure it is posted also on the Apex 4.x documentation.  It should be.  It has a nice walk-through for creating an "Image Gallery Application" along with the RESTful services required to upload and download images--but it would have been much better if done differently (see comment below).  I am needing to adapt this to just download images from an existing BLOB object.  It also has a demo walk-through of OAuth2.0, however, I wish they would do a better job of explaining where the 'https://server:port/i/oauthdemo/gallery.html' comes from or is created.
    My problem with the documentation is that it is a 'tutorial' but really should be broken down so that the user has a better UNDERSTANDING for the whole process.  Why do an application that does a POST and GET at the same time.  The tutorial idea is great, but break it down to 2 separate parts so you understand the PUT part for those who are needing to upload images  and do a separate part for the GET for those like me who just needed to see how to do a GET with a header parameter ID and render the BLOB image.
    The OAuth2.0 example has a similar issue but in this case it is too tied to the example tutorial and there is no explanation of where the "Redirect URI"   'https://server:port/i/oauthdemo/gallery.html' comes from.  (maybe I am missing something?)
    If anyone has success with these demos and applying them beyond the specific tutorial please share!!
    Pat

    The alter move table with the LOB storeage clause will rebuild the table and the LOB segment storing the LOB column data inor out of line as specified in the command. Rebuilding the table is the only way to move the existing inline data to being out of line.

  • Status of ADF BC / JSF Version of Developer Guide?

    Can anyone provide an update on when this will be available (Developer guide based on ADF BC and JSF vs. Toplink)? I'm EAGERLY awaiting - this will be very helpful.
    I was able to download the SRDemo app based on ADF BC / JSF - this is very helpful to see some real code examples. For example, I read topics related to programming View Objects and Application Modules, but viewing the actual code examples for how to call these methods was invaluable. Any other sources for ADF BC / JSF Technology scope code examples greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    I think this information is what you can already get from the SRDemoBc application. I remember from an internal training i delivered that the login is performed by a ViewObject that is acting as the root VO for all application VO. In addition, to store global values, a VO is created that doesn't use queries.
    Note that I am not really a suppoter of applications that handle the login logic in itself. Its good for demos, but in praxis they should use either JAAS or J2EE authentication to fit into an overall enterprise security strategy.

  • Resource Management and Solaris Zones Developer Guide

    Solaris Information Products ("Pubs") is creating a
    developer guide for resource management and Solaris Zones.
    The department is seeking input on content from application
    developers and ISVs.
    We plan to discuss the different categories of applications
    that can take advantage of Solaris resource management
    features, and provide implementation examples that discuss
    the particular RM features that can be used.
    Although running in a zone poses no differences to most
    applications, we will describe any possible limitations and
    offer appropriate workarounds. We will also provide
    information needed by the ISV, such as determining
    the appropriate system calls to use in a non-global zone.
    We plan to use case studies to document the zones material.
    We would like to know the sorts of topics that you would
    like to see covered. We want to be sure that we address
    your specific development concerns with regard to these
    features.
    Thank you for your comments and suggestions.

    Hi there, i'm using solaris resource management in a
    server with more thant 2thousand acounts.
    Created profiles for users, defaul, staff, root and
    services.Seeing the contents of your /etc/project file could be helpful.
    But while using rctladm to enable syslog'ing, I set up
    global flags of "deny" and "no-local-action" in almos
    everything.The flags on the right hand side of the rctladm(1M) output are read-only:
    they are telling you the characteristics of the resource control in question (what
    operations the system will allow the resource control to take).
    Now, many aplications don't work because they are
    denied enough process.max-stack-size and
    process.max-file-descriptor for them to work.
    Applications such has prstat.If prstat(1) is failing due to the process.max-file-descriptor control value, that's
    probably a bug. prstat(1) is more likely bumping into the limit to assess how many file
    descriptors are available, and then carrying on--you're just seeing a log message since
    prstat(1) tested the file descriptor limit, and you've enabled syslog for that control. Please
    post the prstat(1) output, and we'll figure out if something's breaking.
    I don't find a way to disable the global flags. You can't. I would disable the syslog action on the process.max-stack-size control first;
    there is an outstanding bug on this control, in that it will report a false triggering event--
    no actual effect to the process. (If you send me some mail, I will add you as a call record
    on the bug.)
    Can anyone tell me:
    how to disable global flags?
    how to disable and enable solaris resource management
    all together?You could raise all of the control values, but the resource control facility (like the resource
    limit facility it superseded) is always active. Let's figure out if you're hitting the bug I mentioned,
    and then figure out how to proceed.

  • 2 Day Developer  DrillDown confusion

    This problem is the same as adam.coles brought up in the post on June 9th, but hasn't gotten any response.
    I am doing the 2 day developer course that can be found on the following page (on the right under "Getting Started"
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/htmldb/index.html
    In the course there is a "How to Create a Drill Down Report" on page 3-5
    under "Customizing the DEMO_ORDER_ITEMS Report" (which seems odd since the report uses the DEMO_ORDER_ITEMS table but is named ORDER_ITEMS)
    Anyway, there is a task of "Add a Condition" which says to select "ORDER_ID [DEMO_ORDER_ITEMS]" but there is no columns to select from let alone this particular one.
    I'm wondering what must be present to have columns listed in "query conditions" in the "Query Definition" for a particular region?
    Basically; am I missing something or is something missing from the course?
    I'm certainly not the first to have this problem.

    Hi Everyone,
    I did essentially what dccase did. When I selected columns for the Order Item page, I added the necessary Product_ID columns and joined them. Then I went to the Report Attributes and turned off the check box in the "Show" column for the two product ID columns. The resulting report looked correct.
    However, this isn't quite right. The excercise shows the table as the instructions meant, with all the "wrong" information because the original query intentionally lacked a join.
    The goal of the exercise was to have the Order selected on Page 1 filter (by adding the condition that uses the hidden field) the items shown on Page 2.
    Since one can not create the necessary condition (because there are no columns listed in the column selection field of the Condition page), I was wondering if anyone has actually implemented this desired functionality. How can one use a link from one page to drive a condition on another page?
    Thanks,
    Peter
    PS
    The information on this page: Missing Condition Columns seems to talk directly to the condition describe here. Unfortunately, while it is acknowledged that it may be a bug, no fix is mentioned.

  • Detailed report from a past day at M Series

    Hello All,
    Anybody have any idea how to generate a report specific about System Capacity. I need for example to generate a report from one of my C series that of supposed to be responsible for delivery delays and to prove the it was not it I need a system capacity report from one day of last week (14/08), but the default MSeries reports I don't allow to generate it hour by hour from a past day.
    Best regards,
    Khalil

    Hi Khalil,
    If you have got complains about delays, you might better be checking the maillogs.
    Ask your complaining users about examples (who send the mesage, @what time to whom) and check the logfiles for possible problems.
    1) Logon to the Ironport command line
    2) grep for the senders local part on the mail log that was active in the specified period
    3) When you found the delayed message, note the MID and use that as input for the "findevent" command.
    The info provided by Findevent will show you all related loglines, including the time the event was logged. This should clear up everything.
    Another way of working:
    Get a grip on the E-mail header of the delayed message. The recipient should normally be able to retrieve that when you guide him/her. The header shows a line for each mail relay the message has passed on it’s way to the recipient, including the current time on that device.
    good luck!

  • Calling stored procedure from Forms 6.0(developer)

    Friends,
    Thanks for your replies. I am really grateful for your help for my last query. But I still have one hitch. How do I call from Developer 2000 Forms 6.0 a stored procedure which I made in Oracle 8i ?

    This is an example from Forms on-line help "Invoking a stored program" topic:

  • Calling a package from HTMLDB

    Can someone help me? I'm very new to HTMLDB and basically to Oracle. I need to create a simple package (which I know how to do) and call it from HTMLDB (which I DON'T know how to do). Essentially, I'd like to have a user select an item from a drop-down, and pass the value of what's been selected to a function in a package. The function would hopefully be able to return some values to create a tree, then.
    I'd really REALLY appreciate any help and especially simple examples...
    Thanks!
