Downloading Mountain Lion on Mac Book Pro with max RAM and after 20 hours only 1.50Gb downloaded of 4.37GB. What gives?

I have a MAC Book Pro with maximum RAM added and tried to download Mountain Lion and after 20 hours only 1.50GB downloaded of 4.37GB. Very slow and set my machine not to sleep overnight or anything. Should I give up and stick with my snow leopard?

I think that since Apple just released the Mountain Lion 10.8.2 Update and iOS 6, their download servers are being somewhat overloaded.  It may pay to try again in a day or two after things calm down a little.  It also depends on where you live and how fast your ISP download speeds are.

    Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
    Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
    Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.

    Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
    1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
    2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
    3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
    4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    5 - Click on the Create button.
    Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

    In Milan, Italy, they did for me at the Apple Store.
    They took out the original 4GB and installed 8GB. the 4GB were discounted at full price because I did it before going out of the store. If I remember correctly -200€ for the 4GB and +400€ for the 8GB. This means 200 €
    At the end is practical but may be more expensive if you discarge the 4GB and install non Apple 8GB, but this may invalid tha garanty... I am not sure about it but I prefer to stay on the safe side.
    The difference could be not much. May be you find 8GB for only 140 - 160  €  but it will be difficoult to get more than 40-50 for the 4GB even if they are really new.

    Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Preferences/com.apple.quicktimeplayer.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
    Open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
    If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.

    You might need to redo the View settings after an update.

    I too bought my Macbook Pro in the US and I live in the UK (its so much cheaper in the US! No 20% VAT!)
    The power adapter does work on UK 230v power. You can also get a three pin extension lead (like the 2 pin US one that came with the MBP) for about £3 with free delivery from Amazon UK.
    Another tip, whne you are back in the UK, and you are switching from a PC to a Mac, get in touch with your local Apple Shop who run one to one free courses on how to use your MBP.

    I just got a full loaded mac book pro, NI Komplete 4 , korg legacy digital edition, Arturia minimoog v. and haven't got any of them to run successfully with Logic pro 7 (7.2.3).

    Hi,
    As the previous poster suggested, not all of the instruments in K4 are universal binaries. I have K4 running on a Mac Pro, and outside of bugs on the NI side, it is working fine with Logic. Run all the updates you can find through the service center. Some of those updates make an instrument a universial binary. For example, out of the box B4 II is still PPC. All the software will run under rosetta, but Logic will only see instruments that are UB. After you run all the updates, you can check which instruments are not UB by going into the system profiler and checking the software tab. From memory, spectral delay and vokator are not, Battery 3, Absynth 4, B4 II, Akoustic Piano, Kontakt, FM8, and Reaktor are all UB.

    My new i7 macbook pro 15inch only goes to 98% battery when left plugged in . I tried to reset the battery by full draining and then re-charging . Did work for a few hrs ( got to 100 % ) but back to max 98% . Cannot get a full 100 % .... been left plugged in for 24hrs now .
    Also in istats , it says I have had 17 battery cylcles ???? I just recived the computer onTueusday and have charged it once whe opening it up and once to try and reset the 98% issue .

    First understand that the battery will not start charging until the capacity drops below 94%. Above that the charger turns off to prevent overcharging.
    What you see now is perfectly normal. My battery typically shows 96%. Your line voltage can affect how the charger operates. Also, the charge percentage is based on the battery's "nominal" full charge capacity.
    The indicated charge cycles most likely represent the results of testing the battery before installing in the computer.

    I would use the thinner or solvent that is required for the given paint on the aluminum surfaces. If the display got paint on it, then it becomes problematic.
