Downloading songs from two different computers, and not recognizing songs

On my home computer, I downloaded about 40 songs onto my IPod from CDs. Then, I installed the program on my work computer, and purchased four songs from ITunes. When I plug my IPod into my work computer, it is not recognizing the songs I downloaded from my home computer. However, if I plug my IPod into my work computer, I can listen to these four purchased songs, but once I try to listen to them without having it plugged into my work computer, only the songs I downloaded from home are on the IPod.
Has this happened to anyone else who has tried to put songs from two different computers onto their IPod?

Just to elaborate a bit, you need to copy the purchased files and put them on your home computer.
Don't burn them as an audio CD as you will lose quality when you re-import them.
You can use the Shuffle (instead of a CD) to do this

and 21st century breakdown (green day)
Album with same songs in it- international super hits (green day)

If I already own a song (from a different album) and the same song is in an album which I want to get, do I still have to pay for the song?
    Yes.
The album which the song has been listed under (on the song's page) is listed in your library under that album. The song is then removed automatically from the first album
    No it's not.
Purchasing a new song or album will not affect any other song or album in your library.
In the case of the two albums you mention, if you purchase them both, you will have the same song (different copies) in both albums.

  • Downloading songs from two different computers?

Can you just download music from another computer on you iphone or would that just mess everything up?

The iphone can only download music from one computer at a time.
If you connect the iphone to a second computer and download music, it will erase all the music from the first computer.
However, if you have music on 2 computers that you wont to combine into one itunes music library, this article might help out.

Also, if the music you want to combine is purchased music from the itunes music store, this article might help out.

  • How can I transfer songs from two different itunes?

I want to transfer songs from my brother's itunes library to my shuffle, but when I plug it in his computer, a message saying that his library is not linked to my library (or something to that extent) and whether I would like to replace the songs. If I click yes, all my existing songs are replaced with HIS songs. If I click on NO, the Shuffle icon does not appear at all and I cannot transfer any of his songs to my shuffle. How can I transfer songs from two different computers into my shuffle without replacing any of my existing music?
    Shuffle   Windows XP
      Windows XP

You'll have to setup your iPod to manual instead of automatic update (I'm not sure, though, if it works with the Shuffle as well).

  • I purchased songs from 2 different computers using itunes with the same apple id. I had 1 iPod I used for these but I just recently got an iPhone and I was wondering why it wasn't letting me put my purchased songs on my iPhone?

You can transfer iTunes content from an iTunes library on a single computer only.
Since these songs were purchased with the same iTunes account, you can download the song that is not in your iTunes library on the computer you will be syncing your iPhone with. Or you can download the song or songs direct on your iPhone.

  • Can I sync the songs from two different Apple IDs (HK and JP) into one iPhone?

I want to buy some songs from a HK Apple ID and a JP Apple ID.
I just hope the songs of two Apple ID can appear in one iPhone.
But I don't want can I sync the songs from two different Apple IDs (HK and JP) into one iPhone.

Are you currently in Japan or Hong Kong ? You have to be in a country (and have a billing address in that country on your account) to buy or download from its store, that is included in the store's terms.
You can sync content from different accounts from your computer's iTunes library.

  • Can I run two applications at once from two different computers?

    Good Evening,
I would like to use the cloud service. I have read over the FAQs and they were quite clear, however I did not seem to find something to the effect of what I need answered.
If I were to download the apps on a backup computer and my personal computer, can I run for example a photoshop application on one computer, while running an encore application on the other computer at the same time?
The FAQs state that I can pick and choose which apps I want on a computer. Will I be able to download a portion of the apps on my personal computer and the remaining on a backup computer, while being able to use a portion on computer and another portion on another computer at the same time?

You could be working in two different applications on two different computers, going back and forth between them.
You can install any of the applications that you wanted to use on either of the computers but still only on two computers overall.
    Hope that helps,
    -Dave

  • I have two Ipod shuffles on two different computers and now have a third.   How can I hook up all the shuffles to download music I have stored from my main computer?  One of the shuffles is registere on the main system, the second on my lap top and the t.

I have 2 ipod shuffles and one nano. One of the shuffles is registered on the main computer, the second on my laptop. the nano I just got.  Can I download music from my main system even though my second is registered on the laptop, or does all my stuff have to be registered on my main system?

If those older shuffles work and have the songs on them...
For songs purchased from the iTunes Store, you can use iTunes to transfer from iPod to computer.  The command (in the current version of iTunes) is at
iTunes Menu Bar -> File -> Devices -> Transfer Purchases from [name of iPod]
However, you may need to have your current computer authorized with the Apple ID (iTunes Store account) used to make the purchase.  If you do not, the purchases from that Apple ID may not transfer.
There are third-party methods and utiltiies (not using iTunes) to transfer song files from iPod to computer.  These should not care about Apple ID or that a particular song was purchased from iTunes Store or not.  If you do a Google search on something like "ipod transfer," you should get some links.
Once the song files from the two older shuffles are transferred to your computer, you can add those songs to your iTunes library.  Then, sync your 4th gen shuffle from the "consolidated" iTunes library.

  • How do I combine two libraries from two different computers?

My wife and I have two libraries on two windows computers. She wants to add my songs to her library. I do not wish to add her songs to mine. Can we do this? How is it done?
All songs on my iPod have been purchased from iTunes. Her library is half purchased from iTunes, using the same iTunes account, and half from CDs that she's loaded.
OK, rookie question. But we're headed on vacation and I want my iPod back for the trip.
    Thx!

You can transfer the iTunes songs from your iPod to her computer, just remember two things.
    1) Set your iPod to manual management before connecting to another computer so you don't accidentally erase it. You can change it back to auto-syncing on your own computer when you are finished:
    Using iPod with Multiple computers
Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
    2) Authorise your wife's computer to play songs from your iTunes Store account:
About iTunes Music Store Authorisation and Deauthorisation
Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer

  • Purchased Songs on Two Different Computers

I have two computers, one at home and one in my office. I have purchase about 30 songs on the computer in my office using the same itunes account I use at home. When I open itunes at home, I only see the two songs I have purchased at home. Once I buy a song, shouldn't I be able to access it on both computers? Do the songs get saved to my account on only the computer used to make the purchase? Thank You for your help...not crazy about itunes support. Danielle C.

To transfer, I would just save the songs to a folder and send them to my other computer for download?
Right-click an item, locate it, copy that file as well as any others in the same area of the hard disk to the new computer, and then drag them into the open iTunes window. Alternatively, back up the library to CDs or DVDs and restore the backup on the other computer.

  • I accidently unplugged my iPod before ejecting it and now all my music is gone. Although it says that there is used space. I have music on a few different computers and not all backed up on one computer. Help! How do I get my music back?

I accidentally unplugged my iPod before ejecting it, which has never been a problem before. But today it says theres no music on it even though it says there's used space. I don't have my iPod backed up and my music is on several different computers. Help!! How do I get my music back?

See this excellent user tip from another forum member turingtest2 outlining the different methods and software available to help you copy content from your iPod back to your PC and into iTunes.

Note that some of these utilities and method require a fully functional iPod and software.

  • Edit a subscription from two different computers?

I have a calendar published online. My other computer at work is subscribed to this calendar. The problem is I can only add events from home. How can I make edits to this calendar from work and home?
    Thanks!

    Chris,
Thanks but you have to read the whole discussion. I know I have to delete songs thats not the problem. The new itunes 6.x versions don't let me upload songs to my ipod with someone else's computer. I had my powerbook stolen so I don't have my own computer to do this or I would. Using other computers I am not going to reformat my ipod and delete every song on it with not having the ipod backed up anymore.
What I need is to get the new songs I have on my ipod but a error box pops up saying something along the lines that itunes was unable to load my songs on to the ipod. The ipod is visible on both itunes and the desktop and it allows me to delete songs off. I know that I can just delete the cds off the computer. But i think the new itunes is bull'. It lets you copy music (of my own) on to someone else computer, but then won't let me have it to listen on my own ipod.

  • Is it possible to work on the same files/catalog from two different computers?

My wife and I are photographers and work on two separate iMacs.  We just purchased an NAS and would like to know if we can both access the same files AND the Lightroom catalog from our respective computers.  All of the files are on the NAS but I can't figure out how to get her computer to recognize the catalog.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    -Brent

Another option, since you already have the nas, is to get something like "Synchronize! Pro X",and use the nas to transfer the catalog back and forth.  You don't have to USB the catalog, just transfer it to the nas each time you are done, and before you start...
Of course, I think both solutions are based on you not editing at the same time... i.e., both of you are making changes, as neither approach will work for that!
    Cheers!
