Drag and Drop to Forms

Hi OraTechies,
Can anyone give some insight to my problem.
The apps is written with Forms 6.0 and deploy in client server architecture. Soon, to be web enabled.
In production, a user constantly complain about lost data. We found out he was dragging text/data from MS-Word document and dropping to a field in a multi-record forms. When record is saved and re-queried the data is not there.
The drag and drop shows the data is being copied to the field. If the record is cleared without saving, the dragged over text is "hovering" over the field. It looks like Windows just repainted the display and nothing else.
Comments, suggestions or solutions anyone?

I have tried to implement this bean but I'm having problems. I've been using your
LAF package for almost 4 years now without issue. I tried the jar file from the zip
file. I also created a new project and recompiled the java code against the 10.1.2.3
frmall.jar file that matches our app server. I resigned it and it's still not working.
Maybe I'm just missing something simple. When I compile and run the form, I see
the canvas and I can change the text fields, but I don't see how I can drag and
drop items. Hopefully, you can think of something that can fix our problem. I would
love to be able to use drag and drop functionality in an upcoming application.
We're running the following versions:
App Server: 10.1.2.3
DB: 10.2.0.5
JDev: 10.1.3.3.0
Windows XP for the clients
Windows Server 2008 for the servers

Edit: I looked in my java console and saw that my issue was that we signed this jar file with a different certificate. I created a special config as Francois has suggested in another post and included only the DnD.jar file and it worked. However, I can't get the image or multi-line text areas to drag and drop. I'll keep poking around and see if I can figure out what's going on. The console seems to recognize when I'm dragging and dropping from all fields.

BUG - Drag and drop an image, only working at the 2nd try

I use the last version of JDeveloper : 11g R1 : 11.1.1.2.0
I try to drag and drop an image in a facet of a panelsplitter.
Once the page is loaded, the first time I try to drag the image, it does not work : the image does not follow the mouse.
When I try to drag the image again, then it works : the image follow the mouse
So I don't think it's related to the destination/target.
I feel it's so simple, since it just requires to add <af:componentDragSource/> inside <af:image/>
that if it does not work, it can only be a bug in the functionality offered by ADF ...
Or maybe there is something wrong with the generation of the page ?
I get this message in blue in the "running log of WebLogic" :

Please note that I use jsp:include inside f:subview to include fragments (.jsff) so that the source and the destination are not in the same file, the source in a .jsff while the destination is on the main .jspx

If I select the text layer and click the text style button in the library it just creates a new text style for Myriad Pro 12pt - I'm not using that anywhere in my document.
Can anyone help? Seems like a bug to me as I'm trying what the video tutorials are saying.

I realize AI is an illustration program.
Do you realize it is an object-based vector-based program? Do you know the difference between raster-based and vector-based content?
My question seems to be all over the forum but no one has been able to answer other than exporting to these file formats, which make text look awful and of no use....
And yet everyone else in the world makes proper web images every day using a plethora of programs, including these...go figure.

Hello, cocteau! What you're calling "transparency" is inherent to object-based vector artwork. But web browsers don't support object-based vector artwork, except via file formats like Flash and SVG, or by viewing as a PDF in a plug-in version of Reader. Raster imaging in general only supports "transparency" by either indexing a specific color (i.e.; "don't display this color", as in GIF) or including an alpha channel (i.e.; "blend all the pixels with existing pixels, based on values from this extra channel", as in PNG). It's all in the raster file format you use, cocteau; it has little-to-nothing to do specifically with Adobe software. Such things are among the most basic matters understood by someone doing web design.
When I export an eps from .ai file, and open the eps in photoshop,...I save as a gif for the web, it goes back to the original problem...creates jagged text. I"m giving up on this garbage...Thanks a lot adobe! Lower the price of this software if this is all that can be done.
Once it leaves Photoshop (or Illustrator, or whatever) as a non-proprietary raster image format, it's all about what the format can do re "transparency". You can do this stuff with most any graphics program. You should read about basic web design and the differences between raster and vector content, rather than rant.

Drag and drop functionality of a LiveCycle designed form

I have done a fair amount of searching on the forums to try and solve this problem but have been unable to find an answer.
We have for years and years been using Adobe Acrobat 8 and associated LiveCycle suite. We have a few forms designed in LiveCycle that, once reader enabled, were able to be filled out and then "drag and drop"'d into regular PDF files. An entire system has been created out of this function.
We recently, in the last few days, upgraded the entire Adobe software suite on our server to X level. Since the upgrade, we have been unable to "drag and drop" any of our Livecycle forms in to any PDF files. We are receiving this message:
"You cannot insert pages from an Adobe XML form into another PDF file. To include Adobe XML forms with other PDF files, please use the following menu option: Document > Attach a File"
The problem is, we don't want to attached the file as a separate document. We need it in a specific place within the PDF document, not as an outside document.
This has worked for multiple years prior to our adobe upgrade, so I know it is possible.

The sample PDF you sent me that got converted to an Acroform did not include any calculation scripts. I'd be interested in seeing a sample XFA that got converted to an Acroform that retains the calculations. The scripting object models are so different that I would be suprised if anything worked even if the scripts were retained, which I doubt. There certainly isn't an automatic conversion form FormCalc or XFA-based JavaScript to something compatible with Acrobat-based JavaScript. Note that when you import an Acroform with scripting into Designer that all scripts are commented out because they cannot work in the different environment.
I don't know of a way other than what you have already used. As mentioned in the other discussion I linked to, it may no longer be possible even with low-level tools (e.g., PDF CanOpener) that can manipulate the PDF content.
Livecycle versatility is what stole u away from the acrobat forms "document conversion autoform".
I'm not sure what you mean by this. I prefer to work in Acrobat to create PDF forms, but I realize a lot of people enjoy working with Designer. Many types of changes can be made quickly in Acrobat, but I'm not aware of a design environment that's more like Designer but for Acroforms. I'm not trying to change your mind about which is better, but if you ultimately require Acroforms (because XFA cannot be inserted into a normal PDF), then you need to look somewhere other than Designer.
The bug exists in Acrobat 9, but when I try it none of the scripting or actions are included. I haven't bothered to test with Acrobat 10 or 11 yet, but it looks like you already have. So one answer would be to use a version of Acrobat that allows this.

I think I understand but just to make it clear. I use texts created using function module "SAVE_TEXT". In my Web Dynpro I select one or more of them and use the button "insert text" (with appropriate functionality behind it) to insert them to specified location in my PDF form opened in this Web Dynpro. Considering what you said it is not possible to replace this "insert text" button by drag and drop functionality. Am I correct?

PDF XFA form/internet browser/JAVA application/Drag and Drop

Hi guys,
I need to be able to open a PDF XFA form (a PDF document where I have some input controls and javascripts for validation) inside a JPanel.
If this is not doable am thinking if i can open this pdf form in a web browser by launching it from my java application.
And when I do this, I want to be able to drag and drop between the java application and the browser.
Anyone can tell me if that is doable?

I am trying to drag a single item from a JList to a text editor, Word, etc. I have two problems:
1) I can't seem to get just the item in the JList to drag. It wants to drag the entire JList component.
2) How does one define the remote application as the drop target? Have not found any examples either.
Is the drop target actually the system clipboard?

Upgrade to 3.1.1 broke drag and drop form items

after upgrading to 3.1.1 when I click the drag and drop icon in items on a form i can then move the fields around and when I hit next the page shows no fields, if I then click apply and look at the form the fields have not moved..

IPhoto 09 picture drag and drop form library to an album results in incorrect picture dragged dropped

I think that my problem started when I installed ML...
When I import a picture in my library and then drag and drop the picture in an album (for example an empty one)... when I open the album, the only picture there is not the one I draged and dropped, but another one from my library... it's ths same when I repeat that for any other picture...
Any idea how to sort this

Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

I recently uploaded some pics and videos from an ipad and a camera. I put them all on Iphoto and backed them up in my personal folder. I then trimmed one of the videos and dragged and dropped that into the master folder(pictures). Its now gone!! HELP!?!?!

I rencently added all my photo's from my Ipad and Camera. There were photos and videos on both. The import was done through Iphoto and then transfered to my backup in my pictures folder. I then took one of my videos and trimmed it and then addded that trimmed version to my back up(pictures)albumn. It asked If i wanted to replace existing photo or cancel and I hit replace. Now the file plays great on Iphoto but I am unable to share it through any form(facebook, Imessage etc) and in my back up(pictures) it says the file in only 87kb. I dragged and dropped it from Iphoto to the desk top along with another important video, when I hit get info on both of them one of them is a full sized video(50mb or whatever) and the other one(the one I am trying to recover) is only the 87kb. I want this full file avaiable to me how can I get it back?? it is already deleted off the camera??? please please help me.

is your movie in your backup folder a Quicktime movie? Then probably only have the Quicktime wrapper in your backup folder, but not the referenced media in the file fork of the movie. If you see the full quality movie in iPhoto in QuickTime player, don't drag it from the browser to the Desktop, but use "File > Reveal in Finder > Original File" to show the movie in your iPhoto Library. Select the Movie when it is revealed and ctrl-click it to open it in Quicktime Player.
Export it from Quicktime Player with "Export to" and share it to iTunes. This way it will be converted to a .mp4 movie that embeds the missing resources.
You can drag the converted movie from iTunes to the Desktop or share it using to Media Browser to other applications.
