Draw lines within a table (repeating group)

I have a table of 6X6 (rowsxcolumns) built using Word 2010. The cells starting from 2nd row to 5th row are merged and another table is created in this place with a repeating group. This means, the no. of rows this 2nd table would have is dynamic (based on the results)
Because of the layout requirement, I need vertical lines drawn for each of the columns in table 1 but excluding Row 1 and Row 6 (these are sort of headers). Is there a way to achieve this?
I tried using "Draw Shapes" and inserting vertical lines in the positions I want. But since this shape is of constant length and 2nd table contains dynamic rows, it isn't working if it has fewer/greater no. of rows.
Any ideas would be highly appreciated.
Thanks!

Ok,
I will assume that you have a dataVector that contains Vectors that have a String and an Integer in it. You pass this dataVector to the following method, that returns a Vector which contains the same data grouped. I assume also that your dataVector is sorted before:
public Vector groupVector(Vector dataVector) {
Vector r;
Vector v = new Vector(2,2);
if (dataVector.size()==0) return null; // no data there - return null
String name = (String) ((Vector) dataVector.elementAt(0)).elementAt(0);
int sum = 0;
for (int i = 0; i<dataVector.size();i++)
{ String curname = (String) ((Vector) dataVector.elementAt(i)).elementAt(0);
if (name.equals(curname))
{ sum += ((Integer) ((Vector) dataVector.elementAt(i)).elementAt(1)).intValue(); }
else
{ r = new Vector(2);
r.add(name);
r.add(new Integer(sum));
v.add(r);
name = curname;
sum = ((Integer) ((Vector) dataVector.elementAt(i)).elementAt(1)).intValue();
} // end else
} // end for-loop
r = new Vector(2);
r.add(name);
r.add(new Integer(sum));
v.add(r);
return v;
} // end of methodI have not tested it nor compiled - leave that to you
Hope this helps
greetings Marsian

  • How can I make the GRID lines more bold within a table in the new Pages?  (Not the outline of a table)

    I can't find where to darken GRID lines on a table in the new Pages.  I can make the outline more bold, but not the grid lines within the table.  Is there a way to do this?  The default grid lines are far too faint.

    Yeah, the Help is missing a little.
    If you select the block of cells that you want to change, then in the Format inspector:
    Select the Cell tab
    Expand the Border section
    Set a line type
    Set a line width
    Choose a line color
    Choose one of the nine options for which borders get the new settings

  • Reducing PDF-size: automatic reduction of datapoints that are used to draw lines in a 2d-axis system within report

    Creating fancy pdf-files for costumers and other purposes is great. However, if the experimental data include many datapoints (>200000) a line-2d-graph ends up in a very big pdf-file. Especially when many pages need to be used.
    Explanation:
    When I use lines to show experimental data in 2d-plots the size of my PDF-file is directly influenced by the number of datapoints used. The more datapoints are used to draw lines within the graph, the bigger the exported PDF-files of the report are.
    It would be great to limit the number of points used to draw a line as it can be done with markers without using the curve transformation option. - Hence, e.g. plotting a line with the help of 200 datapoints is usually as good as showing the same line based on 200000 datapoints but the pdf-size is significantly reduced. You can imagine that when this would be done via the transformation option a long lasting script would be needed for each line to reduce the number of datapoints shown. Hence, the plotting within the report and the actualisation of data would need very long.

    Since a while DIAdem optimizes the size of exported PDF-files in a related way as it is suggested here. In principle the PDF-file is exported in a very high resolution, so you can display it in a reader with a very high zoom value (e. g. 6000 %) to look into details of your data. If you have a huge dataset, this could lead in fact to a bigger file size, if data points could be displayed because the high PDF-resolution. But in general, DIAdem only saves information in a PDF-file which is really necessary - but with a high resolution.

  • Fixed length outer table with nested repeating group inner table.

    I had to re-create a PDF using tables in an RTF template. It has a fixed 1 page width. However, one of the rows in the template has a nested table with a repeating group. I set the width of the outer table row width to 2". However when I have repeating groups it makes the outer row grow wider than the 2" inches. The option to un-select "automatically resize to fit contents" is grayed out.
    Is there a way to keep the outer table width fixed with an inner repeating group?
    Thanks.

    Hi Borris,
    Found the following in the Oracle Documentation under: Oracle8i Application Developer's Guide - Object-Relational Features Release 2 (8.1.6)
    2 Managing Oracle Objects / Using Collections / Collection Unnesting
    URL: http://www.znow.com/sales/oracle/appdev.816/a76976/adobjmng.htm#1002885
    Oracle8i also supports the following syntax to produce outer-join results:
    SELECT d.*, e.* FROM depts d, TABLE(d.emps)(+) e;
    The (+) indicates that the dependent join between DEPTS and D.EMPS should be NULL-augmented. That is, there > will be rows of DEPTS in the output for which D.EMPS is NULL or empty, with NULL values for columns
    corresponding to D.EMPS.

  • InfoPath 2010 SQL Data Connection - Related Table is Not a Repeating Group

    I'm creating a InfoPath 2010 database form. In my main connection I want to query a parent table and a related child table. When I go through the wizard, the resulting data structure is not correct.  The child group that InfoPath creates isn't
    a repeating group, but it should be. I've done this many times before and never had this problem.
    In other words, when I open up the main data source, the little blue disclosure triangle is missing from the child group.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
    ODBC driver for Excel does not support deleting data.
    I'm afraid there is no solution via SQL as in Oracle to use SQL with Excel you can only use ODBC, see OLEDB in previous versions to 11G.
    Unfortunately with ODBC or OLEDB driver for Excel , DELETE is not supported.
    regards

  • Force the Summary Sub totals on same page as the Repeating Group

    Hello folks,
    I have a Group by Left Report where I am showing Patients and the Visits that they have taken for each Department.
    I am then doing a Sub Total of the number of Visits the Patient has taken. I would like to make sure that the sub total shows
    up on the same page as the data in the Repeating Group. I tried using an Anchor but the Report does not like it.
    It gives an Error: REP 1213 - Field references column at a frequency below its group when I anchor from Repeating frame to the sub total footer
    and REP 1814 Report cannot be formatted. Object 'Horizontally' can never fit within 'M_1' when I try to anchor the other way.
    My goal is to show the Sub Totals (Total) on the same page as the Patient and not go to the next page. I have enclosed the single dashed line and the Total (Label and field) in a Frame.
    Output of Report:
    Patient ID     Patient Name              Department              Visit
    ======================================================================
    1001           Mary Poppins              Department 001              3
                                             Department 002              4
                                             Department 003              1
                                             Total                       8
    1002           Peter Pan                 Department 001              2
                                             Department 002              1
                                             Department 003              2
                                             Total                       5
                                             -----------------------------Thanks in advance!

    Pls set the property(page protect of the frame containing both sub total and patient details) to yes.

  • Need to display data from one group while in another repeating group

    I have a repeating group in my .rft file which displays line level data that has a quote number in it.
    At the end of this repeating group I need to display the total for the quote number but these values are in another group that's within a differnt group higher up in the XML tree. Both of the groups have quote number so there is a link between the two. How do I do this? When I add the "higher up" repeating group within the current group I can't get any data to show. Any help would be appreciated.
    Kind Regards

    Here's the data, I do know how to to move up the tree like a file system but I think my problem is I need to move up the tree and repeat based on the value (quote number) of the lower node.
    For instance for each quote number in repeating group G_FORX_OPS_QTE_ORDER_LINES loop through the occurances of same quote number in G_OPPCAT_BREAKDOWN so I can get a total of the fields by quote number
    This is overly simplified but it would be like this
    <?for-each-group:G_FORX_OPS_QTE_ORDER_LINES;QUOTE_NUMBER?>
    quote number 1428
    various line level data....
    various line level data....
    etc....
    -- Open loop to get data from other group (Only get data for quote 1428!!)
    <?for-each-group:/FORX_AS_OPPOR/LIST_G_OPPORTUNITY_SHEET/G_OPPORTUNITY_ID/LIST_G_OPPCAT_BREAKDOWN/G_OPPCAT_BREAKDOWN;./QUOTE_NUMBER1?>
    Total For Quote 1428

    BILLABLE: Billable total in dollars

  • SmartForms - draw line in template

    Hi!
      I am new to SF, so have a question on drawing line in a template. I use template as the data is only printed out once and is static. I have many columns in my template and I would like to draw lines on the columns so that it is tidy & looks nicer.
      I double click the template & in the "output options" tab, I checked the check box "line with..", but error prompt out to stop me, saying "Boxes/Shadings are not allowed within a table".
      Does anyone know how can I draw lines in a template?
      Kindly advise.
    best regards,
    Ginnie

    Hi,
             Click on the template under the template tab, and then click on the select pattern just under the template heading , there you use lines.

  • How to use a header column in a repeating group

    I am trying to create a BIP report (11.1.1.6.2) with an XML file as source. The XML files start with a few header fields, followed by the actual data. For example:
    <DATA>
    <PARAMETERS>
    <P_ORDER>Order</P_ORDER>
    <P_CUSTOMER>Customer</P_CUSTOMER>
    </PARAMETERS>
    <LIST_DETAILS>
    <DETAIL>
    <V_ORDER>12345</V_ORDER>
    <V_CUSTOMER>Oracle</V_CUSTOMER>
    </DETAIL>
    <DETAIL>
    <V_ORDER>67890</V_ORDER>
    <V_CUSTOMER>Microsoft</V_CUSTOMER>
    </DETAIL>
    </LIST_DETAILS>
    </DATA>
    The desired output should combine a field from the <PARAMETERS> group and a field from the <DETAIL> group in one line. So with this example data it should look like this:
    Order: 12345
    Customer: Oracle
    Order: 67890
    Customer: Microsoft
    In my RTF template I created a repeating group <?for-each:DETAIL?> and put everything in that repeating group. Unfortunately BIP leaves the values for the fields in the <PARAMETERS> group empty.
    I also tried to nest two repeating groups. First: <?for-each:PARAMETERS?>, within that: <?for-each:DETAIL?>. This does not solve the problem.
    How can I achieve my desired output?
    Paul

    try
    <?xdoxslt:set_variable($_XDOCTX,'LVarORDER',P_ORDER)?>
    <?xdoxslt:set_variable($_XDOCTX,'LVarCUSTOMER',P_CUSTOMER)?>
    <?for-each:DETAIL?>                                 |           <?V_ORDER?>
    <?xdoxslt:get_variable($_XDOCTX,'LVarORDER')?>      |
    ----------------------------------------------------|-----------------------------------
    <?xdoxslt:get_variable($_XDOCTX,'LVarCUSTOMER')?>   | <?V_CUSTOMER?><?end for-each?>

  • Collapsing Repeating Groups

    I'm building a new one-page summary report that utilizes quite a few different tables and queries. The way I'm building it I've basically associated each repeating group to it's own query (within one master group). Most of the repeating groups have 5 or 6 fields returning between 0 and 3 records each.
    Sometimes when a query doesn't return a value (i.e. no data) the repeating group below collides up into it resulting in Field Titles that lay on top of each other making it impossible to read? It only does this when one of the RG's (and associated query) doesn't return a value.
    I originally had the field titles inside the repeating group so they would not display at all when no data was returned, but business wants them to show even when there is no associated data in that particular group.
    Is there some trick to getting these fields to hold there position even when null? I tried playing with "anchors" but it didn't seem to make any difference. I'm not sure if I'm anchoring to the appropriate frame.

    Hi Andreas...
    I tried "ALL" of the settings in the Property Pallet (fixed, expand, variable) and none seem to make any difference. I even tried changing those settings not just for the RG's, but for EVERY FIELD IN THE RG'S as well! (again w/ no difference) The only noticeable difference was when setting the data fields (w/in the RG's) to "fixed" the returned data would truncate. I'm able to control the fields which return data OK, only having problems with the formatting when data is null.
    The only thing that has seemed to help a little is by combining all my field titles into one, long single text field (for all the data fields below them) across the entire layout controlling their positions w/ spaces. This presents its own formatting problem as they don't hold their position exactly the same between running the report on the client vs. when I migrate to the server. (something to do with the PDF conversion most likely).
    This formatting thing seems to have proliferated with our 10g migration but this report is particularly frustrating due to the space limitations trying to squeeze everything into it. VERY Frustrating!

  • How to draw lines in FCPX ?

    Hi there,
    I would like to have a simple Effects that will draw lines in various shape such as circle, ellipse or rectangle. How do I do it ?
    I need it because I want to have an effect that is drawing an ellipse over the text.
    Any ideas ?
    Thanks

    ok... hmmm...
    You can create control points for a line but you cannot animate the control points in FCPX. If you're okay with that, then here are the basics:
    Create a new top level group. Name it OSCs.
    In the Inspector, select the group and in the Group tab of the inspector, select Fixed Resolution. (It should already be set to 2D - if not - set 2D)
    In the Properties > Timing pane, set the length (Duration) of the group to at least as long as your project. (this step is not important in Motion but absolutely necessary for FCPX!)
    With the new group selected, add the filters you will use as control points. In general, every starts with Filters > Distortion > Poke. You will need two of them. For each Poke filter, select Publish OSC in the inspector. (I recommend renaming each filter - startOSC, endOSC for example.)
    Create another new group.
    Go into the Library > Content and search for Crosshair -- there's three of them, use Crosshair-Minute (they're the smallest ones.) Add two of them. (It's not necessary that they're in their own group -- just more convenient.) Rename the crosshairs: keeping with the OSCs, I recommend start and end, for example.
    Draw a Line.
    To the shape (line), add two Behaviors > Shape > Track Points.
    Rename the Track Points: Start and End.
    In the Behaviors inspector for the Track Points, drag the start Crosshair image into the Source well of the Start track points and the end Crosshair image into the End Track Points. The behavior parameters will change and you'll see a bunch of new stuff. Down at the bottom, you'll see Track 1 and Track 2 — leave one checked for one of the behaviors and the other one checked for the second behavior (that's 1 track 1 and 1 track 2.) You'll also see that the Transform is set to Mimic Source.  What you need to do is click the reset button on the Checked Track of each behavior and THEN change the Transform to Attach to Source. Once you do that, the line ends will snap to crosshair images (use Properties Transform X to move the crosshairs apart temporarily.)
    Next step:
    Select the start crosshair and in the Inspector > Properties, dial down the Position to reveal the XYZ parameters. Right click on the X and select Add Parameter Behavior > Link.  Repeat this step for the Y parameter (you cannot link Position.All for this step.)
    In the Behaviors inspector, for the start crosshair:
          For the Source Object, drag the OSCs group into the well.
    for the X parameter
          For the Source Parameter, set Filters.startOSC.Center.X for the Position.X
                                                 and set Filters.startOSC.Center.Y for the Position.Y
    You will notice the line end disappear off the screen. This is normal. To correct this, at the bottom of each behavior, set the X (or Y) offset to -0.5.
    Repeat for the end crosshair.
    You can turn off the crosshairs (uncheck the layers.)
    To test your OSCs, select *both* startOSC and endOSC (command select each layer) -- both Poke OSCs will appear and you can drag them around the canvas. The line should follow as you would expect if you've set everything up correctly.
    Publish the template.
    A couple of explanations:
    2D fixed resolution for the OSC group:  Groups in Motion that are not fixed resolution can dynamically change their boundaries. There are no fixed points of reference for Motion to calulate. If you forget to set Fixed Resolution, you can repair the condition by setting the Fixed Resolution option and then go into the Filters pane and reset the Center parameters for each Poke OSC.
    Offsets of -0.5:  All resolutions in the Canvas are calculated by the resolution of the X and Y dimensions of the project times the fractional position of objects (from 0.0 on the left side for X and on the bottom for Y — to 1.0 on the right side for X and on the top for Y.) The center of the canvas is 0, 0 in pixels of whatever the resolution is.  To adjust the fractional position used by the OSCs (and others) to the center pixel, the value needs to be moved by 1/2 of that distance.
    Clear as mud?  Once you've done it a few times, it will all become second nature.
    One more thing: you can publish curves... complex ones. But they have to be B-spline (you track all the points in a similar manner outlined above) and not Bezier. There's no way to control the handles for bezier curves.

  • Repeat group footer on each page

    Hi all,
    I have a regular report with 1 Group. My problem is that my report doesn't repeat group footer on each page. I know that in Grouping options there is an option for "Repeat Group Header on each page" checkbox which makes the Group Header print on each page. I've found that Header and Footer both work together and that if you print Header it will print footer as well. The thing is I have paging functionality (<a href='http://www.crystalreportstrainingbootcamp.com/resources/trainers_talk_detail.asp?Title=03'>click here for paging details</a>) in my report in the Group, so once it reaches 14 lines in Details it goes to the next page, prints the GROUP HEADER but not the GROUP FOOTER on each report page.
    Does anybody know why?
    I found the following topic: <a href='http://technicalsupport.businessobjects.com/KanisaSupportSite/search.do;jsessionid=90BF3D79A308CCF6B58F1E2656225CDD?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=c2004981&sliceId=&dialogID=360384&stateId=1%200%20356275'>Creating a fake group header for orphaned group footers</a> but it's for CR 7. Was it resolved in newer releases of CR or it still needs a work around? I'm not even sure if that will fix my problem...
    Thank you,
    Tatyana
