Dreamweaver Problem

Hi
I have a problem that you may be able to help me with.
I have created a template in Dreamweaver (master template). I
have then created another template (secondary template) from the
master template, I have then created pages from this secondary
template. When I originally edited the master template it would
update the secondary template, and the pages created from the
secondary template. Now when I update the master template it only
updates pages created from the master template, and does not update
the secondary template or the pages created from the secondary
template. I have to update the secondary template seperately.
Some how the link between the master template and secondary
template has broken. Does anyone know how I can repair this link so
that I can update the whole site from the master template. I use
Macromedia Dreamweaver MX 2004.

I mean to make a new file that contains *only* the navigation
element for
either of the page menus (the site navigation and the gallery
navigatioin).
If you elect to use SSI (server-side includes) for both
elements, then you
would have two fragment files (i.e., they are NOT stand-alone
HTML pages in
that they do not contain <html>, <head>, or
<body> tags - rather, they only
contain the navigation markup), one for each menu.
Then you would add them to the parent page in the desired
location using
INSERT | Server-side include, browsing to and selecting the
appropriate
fragment file, and clicking OK.

Your template would only have one editable region for content
to the left of
the site navigation element, which would be in the
NON-EDITABLE part of the
template. Into that editable region you would place the
page's content, and
on the gallery pages, you would also place the navigation
SSI. So, each
gallery page would contain both SSI fragments (the site
navigation and the
gallery navigation). Non-gallery pages would only contain the
site
navigation fragment.

CS5 trouble with updating main template & pages is a dreamweaver problem

The web site is www.KosherWoman.com which I work on with DWCS5.
Whenever I update anything - the nav,- add a side bar ad or promo or add a new page - I test it via F12. It shows the changes on my pages, on the nav & on the side bars. But when I upload it to my server,the changes aren't reflected on-line. I use the 'put' method & when that doesn't work I expand to show the local & remote site & I drag & drop with Dependent files as a yes. Again, the changes do not occur.
After failing to have the changes show up when I copied the dreamweaver site to a flash drive & tried it on another computer in my office, I then gave it to a co-worker who went home & tried it putting the flash drive on his computer. He has DW CS4 & tried to update pages from there. He, too, tested with F12 & everything was correctly changed but they also failed to take after being 'put' & after trying both from dreamweaver & from remote - the old fashioned way of dragging & dropping. The site has been up since January & only developed this problem a couple of weeks ago.
Is this a Dreamweaver problem or possibly a problem of my hosting company earthlink.net.?

OK I am not currently on Windows 7 machine so I will tell you what I do in Windows XP. The method is still the same in Windows 7.
1) Open/Click on Network from your start button (the one you said you have got it)
2) now in windows XP, I see something like this:
3) Now can you see the first item that says Add a Network Place? Click on it
4) For about one or two windows you just need to click next until you come to a screen that looks like this:
In the above box you need to enter the FTP address like ftp://yourdomain.com (whatever your host has told you about this)
You just continue doing this - follow the on screen instructions and you are done.
If I get time I'll see if I can post exact instructions for Windows 7 or somebody else like John Waller can do this because he has a better machine than mine! My machine is refurbished from old systems I found on some streets discarded by some business!

Noob needs help with dreamweaver- problem encountered

This is the website i am trying to create. It is not
complete, but on Safari it looks fine. When i open it on firefox,
it gets all messed up and i dont know how to change it. It
initially gets messed up on dreamweaver when i add links o
different slices. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Dreamweaver problems

I have purchase DW cs4about two months ago, I have to uninstall it and I followed instructions of deacivated the software and earse the serial number. Now when I am trying to reinstall the application it says that there are components missing, and it gives me two options either reinstall or go ahead and use it . I have tried for two days and I have tried it and only get this message" Could not locate the Resource file in the Configuration Folder. This file is required to run Dreamweaver. Please reinstall the application. I have did both over and over. This is not a student verison. I need help pleae!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you

Well, if you have the time & inclination to reinstall Windows, you might be able to install DW. That wouldn't be too bad if this is a relatively fresh computer.
But before you go to that extreme, you might want to check a couple of links from the support site. Specifically, Problems installing Creative Suite 4 or Creative Suite 4 products and the link in New Installation Support Options that floats by in that box beneath the product icons where they state "We're offering new installation support services to help you quickly install your Adobe software and get started right away!"
When I start my Dreamweaver cd it does not ask for the serial number at all, could this be a problem.
DW comes on a CD? I have one of the Suite bundles, but for some reason, I was thinking DW comes on a DVD anyway.
Are you saying you can run DW from that CD? If so, then that does sound like a problem. AFAIK, DW discs have always had installers and you could not run DW directly from the disc. If it IS the installer, then I don't recall exactly when it asks for the S/N. It may not ask during install, but will ask the first time you run the program after (successful :-) installation.

PDF and Dreamweaver problems

Since I got this new iMac with 10.6.2, I noticed it will not preview some word docs, or save them as pdf's. No problem with Tiger or Leopard. Also - no WYSIWYG designing in Dreamweaver CS4

BC/Dreamweaver Problems

I have downloaded the most current Dreamweaver and Business Catalyst, they are not playing together. I keep getting the message that BC is available as an extension from Adobe Add ons, I follow the instructions over and over,and it still doesn't work. This is for work, I'm looking like a fool for advocating Adobe products. Not good.B

Wish I had an answer for you, but I'm giving this a bump to say I'm having the same problem today as OP.
Any suggestions?

Uninstall Dreamweaver problems

I hope this isn't appearing twice. If it does my apologies to the community. To make a very long story short. I update an extension from an Adobe preferred vendors. Update to me means a little fix etc. I din't realize it was a complete new extension. When it asked to install I said yes. Big mistake. If had known it was completely different I would have unistalled the extension first. Now the problem.
Dreamweaver C or CS6 will not open. I was going to clean the slate and start again, there is the problem. On the Windows 7 control panel/unistall the Dreamweaver programs don't even appear. I will not do anytnng else, way to many shared files. Any help as to how to uninstall and re-install would be appreciated.

Dreamweaver problems! HELP!!

So I'm new to Dreamweaver and web-design altogether. These
are going to be stupid questions, but I've been tearing my hair out
trying to find information through the Adobe Help system and online
tutorials.
I have a flash video. I want it to play when my web page
opens, but then I want it to stop after the animation plays. After
it stops, I want to be able to create an image map and make hot
spots to link the rest of the web pages. So when the page opens,
you see the flash video, and then the screen changes to the image
map. How do I do this!?
Yes, I know, stupid, basic information. But because it's
stupid and basic, I can't find it anywhere! I think most of the
help systems assume you already know this stuff.

Other than the autostart aspect, it looks to me like most of
this has to do
with Flash, not Dreamweaver. You would be better served
asking in the Flash
forum.
When you go there, I suggest you not entitle your post "flash
problems!
HELP!!" Your subject line should be a succinct usable summary
of what you're
looking for; it will be more likely to get you assistance.

Installing dreamweaver problem

Hi All
I am trying to install Dreamweaver, but the install stops almost immediately and I get the message:
X Adobe Dreamweaver CS3
Component install failed
The only choice from here is to press the button marked 'Finish' ?
Any help please ?

It's difficult in these situations to give concrete information, as there are many people having various issues with the installation of DW. The following are generally the tips we give should such problems arise. See if any of them help. If not, try uninstalling and re-installing and see how you go. Other than that, the only option is to contact Adobe Support directly.
Is it an Acer computer? There's a known conflict with Acer security software. Get the patch from here: http://www.egistec.com/oem-acer001/program-update.html.
Even though the Software didn't install all the way through, a few people have reported that carrying out the following steps did indeed help:
Try step 4 in the following technote: - corrupt cache file:
http://www.adobe.com/go/tn_19105.
If that doesn't work Try #12 - deleting your personal configuration folder.
On Vista, it's located at C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Dreamweaver CS4\en_US\Configuration.
It's a hidden folder, so you need to enable hidden folders in Windows Explorer.
Rename the folder to Configuration_old and launch Dreamweaver. It should create a new Configuration folder with the factory defaults.

HELP! dreamweaver problem

I dont know where to post this topic but if someone can be
nice enough to help me with my problem thanks. my computer mess

Flash to DreamWeaver problem

Hey guys I'm new here..
I got a problem going from flash to dreamweaver. Here it is:
I have a site in progress: http://www.competitivevideogames.com/ns/ns.html
and I want to replace the top navigation bar with this:http://www.competitivevideogames.com/ns/nav_bar.swf(still a work in progress)
The problem is, the dimensions of this .swf are 1000x98 (the tightest it can be without cutting out the dropdown menu) and I want the bar to look like it does in the picture(1st link) which is nice and tight. Also, How can I get the drop down menu to overlap my html and flash below it? Because right now the only way i can see the drop down is if I give it enough black space in flash.
Any Help?

That is correct. Flash content cannot draw outside its container/ canvas. The rest is merely in the way you stack content via DIVs with Z-indexes and the respective rules for transparent drawing of Flash content, which is done using the proper Flash param upon embedding.

Dreamweaver crashes on startup [was: Dreamweaver Problem]

Hello Everyone,
I was wondering if anyone could help me with this situation:
I recently moved all my software to a different computer. The software is older Creative Suite (CS2) with Marcromedia Dreamweaver 8. All the software from CS2 works fine, however, every time I try to start Dreamweaver the program begins to start up and immediately shuts down.
There are no error messages when Dreamweaver shuts down, and there were no errors during instalation.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Okay, I've followed the instruction in this thread, and I renamed Dreamweaver's configuration folder and then tried launching Dreamweaver. It appears a new configuration folder was made, but the problem persists. I've tried deleting the WinFileCache-*******.dat file, but it shows up in the configuration folder each time I try to re-launch the program. When I launch the program, for just a moment things look normal, and then it crashes giving me an error code of 148:3. Any ideas from here?

Who can remotely look at a Dreamweaver problem?

I have been working on my website www.goodimage.com and trying to get it to auto update via templates for months. I need someone who is very knowlegable with Dreamweaver CS4 and has the ability to remotely connect to my system so that they can see what has been going on and fix it. Or, let me know what I might be doing wrong I have spent the last four days on it and doing all that I have read and been told I think it is probably related to my system somehow. Anyway any suggestions will be appreciated. I have some reservation about Adobe if I am going to be sent overseas for help. Adobe USA is very good. I have tried overseas calls that have had bad connections, hard to hear and/or understand some. It has not been good. This forum is great! HLower

Dreamweaver does not automatically upload the pages that have been updated. You have to do that yourself by selecting the pages in the Files panel and uploading them to your remote server.

Photo web gallery in dreamweaver - problem

while creating a photo web gallery in dreamweaver (commands -
create photo web album) an error occurs - when I browse pics by
choosing my images folder, program says it's empty! It cant see the
files! these are normal jpg and adding these pics worked normaly!

Making Rich Text Editor with PHP in Dreamweaver - Problem with CKEditor...

Hi,
I am developing a website in Dreamweaver and using the platform of PHP and MYSQL. I need to develop a Rich Text Editor just like the one I am typing at the moment. With my recent searches I have come across with CKEditor as one of the possibilities to add a Rich Text Editor to my website. I have seen older versions of CKEditor also known as FCKEditor which I believe unfortunatley is out of date and obsolete now (discontinued). I cannot find any of the downloads now from anywhere on the web.
I can find FCKEditor tutorials with PHP, but can not find CKEditor tutorials for PHP (when I try googling it, it always gives me FCKEditor page). Can anyone please help me and tell me if I can still make Rich Text Editor using CKEditor and PHP?
If yes, please guide me how? Any tutorials or reading material will be very helpful.

Yes, you absolutely can use CKEditor to create a rich text editor with PHP/MySQL.I have tried several editors and it's my choice.

CKFinder is also very good in conjunction with CKEditor. Although it costs $59/per website, it's better than the free alternatives.
