Drive Recovery Using DRA on another Computer Shows No Protectors

We are rolling out a new series of laptop using MBAM 2.5 next week. We are encrypting the OS drive with 256bit encryption using MBAM GPOs and use TPM+PIN. We have also setup DRAs via GPO, which was done on our previous generation of laptops, but
without MBAM. We are able to recover a drive using the recovery password. Manage-bde -protectors -get c: on the laptop shows all the correct protectors. When I remove the disk drive and put it in a USB carrier and plug it into a similarly configured laptop
to decrypt the drive via DRA, the drive shows as unformatted and a showing of protectors for the drive lists no protectors. I don't understand. We have done this same process for several years with our previous generation of laptops. I am stumped.

You may want to check the settings configured for the policy “Choose how BitLocker-protected operating system drives can be recovered”
From Planning for MBAM 2.5 Group Policy Requirements
Suggested configuration: Not Configured
Configure this policy to enable the BitLocker data recovery agent or to save BitLocker recovery information to Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS).
When this policy is not configured, the data recovery agent is allowed, and recovery information is not backed up to AD DS.
MBAM operation does not require recovery information to be backed up to AD DS.

  • How does another computer show up as "shared" in my file sidebar?

how does another computer show up as "shared" in my file sidebar?

If you are seeing someone else's computer in your sidebar it is because they have 'shared' something on their computer and hence made it available to you. If you share something on your computer then your computer would become visible in their sidebar.
You can access their shared computer without them being able to access yours. They do not have to do anything on your computer to make theirs available to you. All they have to do is tell you what username and password to use to access their computer.

  • I bought a used iMac with cs6 already installed.  If I want to use cs6 on another computer, how would I load/install it (I can't seem to find any serial number)?

sorry th title is so long.  Wondering if I can use cs6 on another computer besides my 2009 iMac.  Thanks.

Transfer of software to another owner is usually handled by Adobe.
So if you do not have a serial number its not yours to use.

Try this solution to fix permission issue:
Modify the manifest.xml file located in My Documents\My Digital
    Editions:
    STEPS
    1) Quit Digital Editions
    2) Make a backup copy of the manifest.xml (call it something like
    manifest.good)
    3) Open manifest.xml in notepad
    4) It will appears as one big long line of xml, and you are looking for a
tag called  start at the beginning of this
and select until you the end of the tag that looks called </de:deviceID>
    5) If you have attached more than one Reader there may be multiple of
these.  Delete all of them to make sure.
    6) Save the file (manifest.xml) and quit out of notepad
    7) Ensure you have the Reader plugged in
    8) Launch Digital Editions
    9) The Device Setup Assitant should come up.
      a) Do NOT click on the "Don't ask again for this device" checkbox.
      b) Do click on the "Authorize Device" button.

    all my thanks

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Are you looking at the iPod's library of songs through iTunes (the songs are on the iPod, not iTunes)?
If the iPod is automatically updating, you cannot play the songs from your iPod on another computer. You would have to manually update...
    Manually Updating iPod
    See this as well...
    Using iPod with multiple computers
Or, are you trying to move the music from the iPod to your laptop? If so, try one of these options...
    YamiPod
    Using iPod with multiple computers
If you choose to go the software route, more options are available (Search the internet via Google).
If you are automatically updating the iPod now though, and the songs are not actually on the laptop, but just on your iPod (and you see the songs on the iPod through iTunes), then you will not be able to play them on your computer. You have to put them on your computer or manually update.

  • Is there a way to add songs on my iPhone into a playlist using iTunes on another computer?

I am at work today and want to organize some of my songs that are currently on my iPhone into a playlist. Is there a way to do this using iTunes on my work computer? I'd rather not go to each song individually using my phone for this, as it would take forever lol. Please help!

"So I can't even use another computer to organize the music that is already on the iPhone? "
    Correct.
" I don't want to add or remove any songs, just put some into a playlist."
    You cannot.
    Sorry.

  • Using ipod with another computer

Hi I would appreciate any help anyone could offer please! I would like to use my ipod on another computer (ibook g4). How do I go about transfering my songs, videos etc on my new computer. I have purchased some songs but it wont allow me to download to my ipod help! It has copied my ipod onto the computer but wont allow me to access them? Any help very much appreciated thanks in advance!

I thought my question was answered and it kind of was, however there were some things that were not explained.
If I use a compatable computer and link into in tunes it ask me a series of questions. All I am trying to do is purchase something from iTunes and download it to my iPod Video from another computer.
I want to make sure that everything in my iPod stays and that everything I have purchased stays not only in my computer but at the very least that I can make sure that I will be able to have them on my computer when I get home.
So, is there a way to purchase something from iTunes from another computer and download it my iPod?
    thanx

  • Can i remove my old time capsule drive and use it in my computer?, Can i remove my old time capsule drive and use it in my computer?

I have an old time capsule and i just bought the new AC one, can i use it as an internal hard drive if i have a usb to sata adapter and a

If you are opening a computer to replace an internal hard disk.. buy a new one. Seriously hard disks do not cost that much... especially if the computer is a Mac.. the cost and effort to open the computer demands that you use the best drive you can find.. and that is NOT a TC drive.
For instance if you are wanting a new drive in a Mac Mini.. it is 2.5" not 3.5" anyway.. but you can buy 500GB or 750GB hybrid drives.. for a few dollars more.. and they are much better than slow green drives Apple use in the TC.
Even for a desktop computer.. use SSD and a hybrid drive.. never bother with the cost of the drive .. it is small part of what it will cost you if not in money at least in time.
For a low end PC that is for "Test" use ok.. but second hand drives will still be the worst possible.. and Apple used the cheapest and slowest drives around.. ie using sata1 when WD was selling sata2 green drives for years.

  • Using Keychain On Another Computer

I'm moving and temporarily boxing up my iMac. Can I move my Keychain to a flash drive and use it on my MacBook? I tried, but my MacBook sees it as a new Keychain. Thanks

AFAIK, the only way that'll work is if the username/password combo are the same on both accounts and the OS's match.

  • Using backups on another computer

I had my MacBook Pro fixed and they replaced the logic board. Unfortunately, it seems that time machine thinks of my computer as a different one. When I go into Time Machine there's nothing there, but on my external drive it still has all the backups from before I had it sent in.
Any way to have my computer use the backups that are already on the drive?

Yes, to TM, it is a different computer. The logic board includes your Ethernet "Mac Address", which is a unique number that TM uses to be sure it knows which Mac is which.
There is a fairly elaborate way to attempt to persuade TM that the existing backups really are for your "new" Mac: http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20080128003716101
It is very easy for the inexperienced user of Terminal (and the not-so-inexperienced as well) to make an error with Terminal, get no error message, and have it not work, so try it at your own risk.
But there is an alternative: hold down the Option key while selecting the TM icon in your Menubar. The +Enter Time Machine+ option changes to +Browse Other Time Machine Disks.+ That's a bit misleading, but it will take you into the normal TM interface where you can see and restore from the old set of backups.
Your first backup with the new logic board may be a full one -- every file and folder on your system. If TM decides to do that, you cannot prevent it.
So if your TM disk/partition isn't at least 2.5 times the size of the data it's backing-up, your best bet may be to just erase it with Disk Utility and let TM start over.

  • Can you Run Lion server on iMac and use monitor for another computer

With lion server you don't need a monitor and I figure why buy a mac mini when i could by a 27" imac and use it as a display and a mac mini running lion server.
I have been going over the scenarios and am trying to decide if I should buy the TB display or a second 27" imac.  Eventually I will have 3 27" displays... but I want to run Lion Server off of one of the imacs... and use the display with the other imac.
do you know if it is possible to use the display of the imac for a mbp or another imac while running an operating system (lion Server) on the computer at the same time.
not sure if I made my self clear there or not.
    Ryan

Ryan as long as both the Mac Mini and iMac have Thunderbolt you could use the iMac as an external monitor for the Mac Mini. The current machines with Thunderbolt connections are 2011 iMacs, MacMini's, MacBook Air's & all MacBook Pros.

  • Using iPod on another computer

This may seem like a very dumb question...I recently gave my 30 GB iPod to my brother for his birthday. Now the iPod had a lot of my songs and some videos on it, when I gave it to him.
He has his own iTunes account and his own computer. He is trying to get iTunes on his computer to sync and use the iPod, but is having no success at all. He has it all plugged in, and has iTunes downloaded and has an account and everything.
Since I was using the iPod under my account, would the iPod now have to be under his account, in order for him to use it? We are both pretty confused, and any help here would be really appreciated.
    Averatec 3250   Windows XP

He says that when he plugs it in, it just goes to his iTunes Summary, which shows how much memory the iPod has, and etc. Which right now, is taken up by the music and videos I had on there. He's gotten the "Do Not Disconnect" message a few times when he has tried to work with it, but still hasn't had any success replacing my old music and videos with his own music.

  • Can I load my ipod using it on another computer?

Hello please could someone help me ? I have 2 questions:
    1. How can I make the ipod list my audiobooks under audiobooks? It doesn't seem to do that but stores them under music or lists.
    2. I plug my ipod into my pc and it uploads any podcasts automatically. I really only listen to audio books, my own music and mostly podcasts. I travel a lot to Sweden and have to go to the library or a friends for internet use - however I don't know if it is possible to log into my library? One time I downloaded the itunes then logged in and it siad this is registered to anothe rlibrary and it seemed as tho it would wipe the ipod clean and just put what I would get then. My problem is that I would have lost all the other things on my pod and not get them back until I went back home.
Sorry if this is convoluted I have tried getting help on the helpline but the info was not correct. They said I could log in and did once in this country in another library but not since or abroad.
Thanks for any help - thank goodness for these boards and your time!
