Duplicate members in EPMA dimension library

Hi,
There are two instances of many members in Account dimension in EPMA dimension library in UAT environment. I am trying to migrate the Account dimension to Dev using LCM. When i do the LCM import, all the second instances are getting imported as shared members and the import fails as the children are orphaned. However there are no errors in UAT when i validate the application. The hierarchies of two instances are associated to different planning applications.
The error is
The 'Member' section contains a duplicate entry; the subsequent input line 'NB AWP|Revenue||||||None|Currency||False|False|False|False|N|False|||False|False|N|Default|0|0|Default|None||Plan2|1|Balance|False|Numeric|||||False|NonExpense|False||' will not be processed.
Is there a way to import the dimension as it is in the UAT environment?
Regards,
Ragav.

As you are talking about a planning application then duplicate members are not supported but Shared members are.
Cheers

  • EPMA Dimension Library - Remove Members

I like to find if there is any way to remove members from EPMA dimension library (using batch client) other than using REPLACE method in import profile definition.
We get delta file from DRM in ADS format i.e the file will only have new members and we need to define process to handle the removed members from DRM. Is there any property or Flag available that can be tagged to remove the member in EPMA?
we decided to go with delta file as we have around 40,000 members and it would be effecient if we use delta file rather than a complete upload everytime the members changes. Please advice if it is good decision to go with delta or we should use complete file.
    Thanks
    RR

I think with the only option with the batch client is the "Remove Member" command.
Removes a member from the specified dimension but does not delete it. You can only use the Remove Member command to remove a shared dimension in an application.
    Remove Member
    Properties(DimensionName, ParentName, MemberName)
    Values('Account', 'Mem1', ‘Mem2’);

  • Importing duplicate members for planning appln - EPMA Dimension Library

    Hi,
How to import duplicate members while importing dimensions using flat file in EPMA Dimension Library (11.1.2.1).
We have Isprimary column which enables multiple instances of a member as shared members, but how to import duplicate members in EPMA?
    From the EPMA Guide:
Specifying Primary and Shared Instances of a Member using IsPrimary
In import files, any two members in the same dimension, with the same name, are always treated
as separate instances of the same member. If a member has multiple instances in a dimension,
the IsPrimary column specifies which instance is primary and which instance(s) are shared. The
IsPrimary column is not required; however, we strongly recommend that you use it. If left
undefined, it defaults to “True”, which assumes that the member is primary. If left undefined,
a warning is displayed in the Import Results file.
Note: Older import files, that do not use the IsPrimary column, can still be run. However, if the
import file does not have the IsPrimary column, it is not possible to create shared members
    or move members.
    Thanks in advance.

As you are talking about a planning application then duplicate members are not supported but Shared members are.
    Cheers

  • Duplicate Members From Same Dimension On Data Record

Hi guys, been a while but I'm back into problem land again. I got a SQL Server database with a load of records in it, some are NULL, and I use them to build a rules file called CGI_BUILD. When I run the rules file on the outline it builds fine with no errors but when it does the second part of loading the data, it kicks out an error file. The error that repeats over and over in the log is "\\ Duplicate Members From Same Dimension On Data Record". This seems to be the case for every record in the load file except for the second record. The only difference with that record is it has N/A for some of the columns instead of the regular "Retail" or "Finance" or whatever the other fields are.
I realize you have limited information here without screenshots but maybe you can help me get started on a solution. In my searching I found that some people have had this happen when the first record has an empty column in it but I can't rearrange them because there's a few columns that are empty for every record. They're there for add-ons later in the project. Any ideas?

To my outline, via SQL load, I added a new attribute dimension called Retail Region/Area:
    -Retail Region/Area
    --West Region : Region Manager
    ---Area1 : Area Manager
    ---Area2 : Area Manager
    ---Area3 : Area Manager
    --East Region : Region Manager
    --Factory Region : Region Manager
    ---Area1 : Area Manager
    ---Area2 : Area Manager
    --Central Region : Region Manager
As you can see, it's split up into regions which have a region manager. And each region has a pile of areas which each have an area manager. The relationship for each region/area to its respective manager is 1:1.
To my rules file I added 3 new columns:
    GEN1,Retail Region/Area (data = "Retail Region/Area")
    GEN2,Retail Region/Area (data = Region Name : Region Manager)
    GEN3,Retail Region/Area (data = Area Name : Area Manager)
I've ignored the data load and dimension build on the first 2 columns, but the third one, the lowest level, is the one data is being loaded into, among many other dimensions. The only weird thing I noticed is the last column (GEN3,Retail Region/Area) doesn't have a Field Name under the Data Load Properties. It's just blank.....but I don't think that would matter.
Now to answer your questions.....multiple columns that have members from the same dimension........it doesn't look like that's the case with the three columns I added. Am I missing it? And the rows I should be looking at......are you referring to the SQL database or the data prep editor in Essbase after loading the SQL file? I'm not converting NULL to anything that I know of. If it was preset before starting the project it's likely the same for every dimension. And as far as transformations, I'm not familiar with that so that would be a no.

  • FDM Essbase Adapter - Duplicate members from same dimension on data records

I am getting this error message when trying to export data to Essbase using FDM.
Error - Duplicate members from same dimension on data records.
Though this error looks quite straight forward, I could not find any thing in the data file to indicate the same. I even tried loading a single row data, but still got the same message.
What other things I should be looking at to fix this issue?
    Thanks.

There are one or two previous threads on this, but this might give you some help to start with as it links to an esssbase document which gives suggestions for the error message:
Error in dataload- Duplicate Members From Same Dimension On Data Record
another thread indicated that the first record had a blank in it and by re-sorting to have the first records with all fields populated resolved the issue (not sure on this one).
    from the FDM side:
    1. Are the dimensions correctly mapped in the Essbase adaptor?
    2. Are the dimensions in the correct sequence for loading to Essbase.
    3. Does the same value appear In more than one field (Can't remember but i think essbase didn't use to allow the same member name across dimensions).

  • Unable to add new dimemsion members to empty dimension library

    Hi All,
I'm installing a development version of HFM 9.3.1 onto Windows Server 2003. Everything seems to have gone OK after carefully following the installation guidelines. The problem i'm getting is not being able to create a new dimension member in an empty (new) system. I can navigate to the Dimension Library (Master View) from Workspace fine using
    http://<servername>:19000/workspace/
But when I select "File" from the main menu the "new" option is missing.
If I access EPMA directly via
    http://<servername>:19091/awb/
I can navigate to the Dimension Library again but this time I get a File and New option but with an empty list of options.
If my understanding is correct I should get the same problem regardless of how I access the application but that aside. I'm fairly sure the problem relates to the same underlying problem. I have also noted that within Shared Services only the BIPLUS project appears. I would have thought a project for HFM or EPMA would also be showing for provisioning. A registration / security issue maybe. I have rerun the registration process with Shared Services a number of times to no avail.
I'd love to be able to link/copypaste some error messages or configuration logs but other than not be able to use the application i'm not getting any errors generated that I'm aware of.
Any suggestions will be very welcome.
    Yours
    ColinL

    Hi All,
Very embarassing but I seem to have answered myself above. It turns out that the server "administrator" id I was using had not been given General Roles, specifically Dimension Editor etc. Role was added using provisioning in shared services / user management. All working fine. For anyone else stumbling, as I did, across this problem the solution will require logging into shared services using the generic admin account created during shared services installation. Your system administrator needs to be given global roles and possibly provisioning roles. Obviously in a "live" situation it may not always be desirable to grant "system administrators" full access to all modules.
    Kind regards
    Colin

  • Duplicate members from same dimension on data load

    Hi friends,
i have three dimensions.ORG,CUSTOMER,MEASURES. I HAVE SHOWN THE STRUCTURE BELOW.
    ORG
    group(GEN2)
    raja(GEN3)
    vertical(GEN2)
    raja(GEN3)
    CUSTOMER
    raja(GEN2)
    MEASURES
    actual.
I AM USING DUPLICATE MEMBERS CONCEPT.
The problem is that how to load data for duplicate members in the same dimension.since i am having group and vertical under ORG. how to give names for those colums.i have given my data file which i used to load.
    gen2,ORG gen3,ORG gen2,CUSTOMER actual
group raja vertical raja raja 20
here i dont know what name to give for vertical and raja since it is a duplicate member from the same dimension.
i also tried to load data for group and verical separately. it loads successfully. but when i view the member raja(from CUSTOMER dimension) across actual i get the value as 40. since i have loaded the data twice( one combination for group and one for vertical.
can anyone help me to resolve this problem. it will be of great help to me.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
To ensure duplicate member outline hierarchies are built correctly, use qualified member names in data source or use the rules files to construct qualified member names from fields in the data source
    Example:-
suppose we have this data set-
    West India Delhi 12344
    West India Bangalore 46544
East "New york" "New york" 126787
Here I am using the RULE FILE to construct qualified member names--
Step 1:- Create the additional TEXT fields, create one field each for the
    following text elements-
Step 2:- Using the MOVE operation, move the fields to the following sequence:
    1 . .2 . .3 . .4 ..5 ... 6 . 7 . . . 8
    [   west  ].[  India  ].[  Delhi  ] 12344
    step 3:- Using JOIN operation, join together fields 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 to create a
    signle field as
    1     .     . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2
    [west].[India].[Delhi] 12344
    OR
you should specified the full qualified name in your DATA SOURCE.
    Hope it will help you.

  • User cannot view dimensions within EPMA Dimension Library in Shared Library

    Greetings,
I presume this must be a security issue, but user cannot view his dimensions in the shared library in EPMA. He can, however view view his application, update the local dimensions, and push to Essbase.
If this is a security issue, what assignment should I provision to enable the user to see these shared dims. Many thanks.

Give that user the rights of
Dimension Editor found under Foundation Service --> Shared Service --> EPMA Administrator and then try again.
    Thanks.

  • Issue with loading data into cube with duplicate members in different dimensions

Have a cube with allowed dublicate members only in two dims (Period1 and Period2).
Outlines saves with no errors, but when i try to load data, i get some errors:

These dims represent two similar periods of time. Am I to change member names and aliases a little in one of them(f.e. yyyy1-mm --> yyyy1 - mm1)?
    Users wouldnt like it...
    Period1
      yyyy1
        yyyy1/q1

          yyyy1-mm2

You may have to use fully qualified name something like

  • Setting "Aggregation For Plan" for Scenario members in  Dimension Library

In the Dimension Library, I have a Scenario which has two members (B and C) which roll up to a parent member (A). Unlike the other types of dimensions, I am unable set the Aggregation as the properties (Aggregation for Plan 1, Aggregation for Plan 2, Aggregation for Plan 3) are not available under the Planning category.
If I view the outline in EAS, I am able to modify the aggregation for the A and B members directly but I'm unsure as to what impact this would have on the planning application.
Any ideas why the properties aren't available? The BPMA Administrators guide seems to suggest I should be able to do this.
Can I go ahead and modify the members direct in EAS?
    Cheers.

I did take a look at the custom dimension and it's members with their storage properties both in DEV and PROD and there were NO Dynamic/Label Only members. Checked the relational database as well and it too showed that there were no members with Dynamic/Label Only storage properties in the custom dimension.
To my surprise this morning, when I checked the numbers in EAS the two columns had the same numbers. It looks like its fixed now as the IMPLIED_SHARE setting took effect and both the "Members in Dimension" = "Members Stored".
I noticed that the server team had stopped and started all the server again yesterday night sometime in DEV so maybe that's when the setting actually took affect and for some reason it didnt take affect the first time they restarted the servers Or maybe because I refreshed the database again from workspace this morning. I am not sure which one fixed it.
Thanks Celvin for your time and inputs.

  • Shared members in duplicate member enabled EPMA outlines

    Hi all,
I have created an EPMA ASO "allow duplicate members application". I want to create an alternate shared hierarchy but all teh shared members are getting deployed in essbase as stored members. Do I need to enable any other property also so that shared members are treated as shared members only and not stored members.
    Thanks in advance.

Can anyone please answer this...its very urgent

  • 'Allow Duplicate Members' not compatible with Attribute  Dimensions

When setting the 'Allow Duplicate Members' option on there is a problem if the duplicate member is used as an Attribute. When attempting to apply the member filter to use the attribute Essbase throws an error: Cannot uniquely identify a member, the name [L] is duplicated.
In my case L is duplicated across two dimensions [L=LOCAL as a BOOK_CODE and L=LIABILITY as an ACCOUNT_TYPE].
The ACCOUNT_TYPE is an attribute dimension related to the ACCOUNTS dimension. Both the excel addin and Financial Reports have a problem as their member selection interfaces don't fully qualify the selection.
    This seems like a bug.

When you sync over the cable, it is one set of calendars in one section labeled "From My Mac"  when you sync with iCloud, that is store in a completely separate area labeled "iCloud."  The "From My Mac" calendars are stored on the phone as just "regular" calendars.  The iCloud account are "CalDav" calendars, which syncs with iCloud.  The old mobileme calendars did do what you wanted, sync over the cable and then to mobileme, and that lead to huge data corruption and why Apple made the new mobileme calendars which sync over CalDav only (and cannot talk to the cable) to protect the calendars.  The phone sees them as two separate calendars.
Your best bet is if you want to use calendars on your G4 is to just use the iCloud.com web interface.  I'm also not familiar with the whole drop box thing, so I can't comment on that.

  • EPMA Dimensions

    Hello Alll,
I am trying to load metadata into EPMA & i am encountering issue loading level 1 member as a shared member. I have following 2 hierarchy:
    1st hierarchy:
    OP_expense--->Level 2 (Store Data)
    P_Revenue--->Level 1(Store Data)
    3000(+)-->Level 0 (Share Data)
    4000(+)-->level 0 (Share Data)
    5000(+)-->level 0 (Share Data)
    2nd Herarchy:
    K_expense--->Level 1 (Store Data)
    P_Revenue(+)-->level 0 (Shared member)
When i load the dimension via ads file in EPMA shared library it loads P_revenue as stored member & all its descendants 3000,4000 & 5000 below P_revenue in the 2nd hierarchy. It is not able to identify P_Revenue as shared member &
not sure how can i stop it from putting its decendants from the first hierachy (In the ads file all the properties are defined right ). I tried making the 1st herrachy via ads file first & then delete all the metadata & juss build the second
hierarchy in that scenario it identified P_Revenue as shared may be because it existed as stored in first one but still it put all the level 0 members in the second hierarchy.
Has anybody come across this issue before?
Please advise how a can i do a right load ?
    Thanks in advance.

The "IsPrimary" property must be used in the import ADS files. It identifies each member as either a Shared or a Base member. This ensures that the "Replace" option during the import works correctly.
The "IsPrimary" property should be applied for all members, in the !Hierarchies sections of the ADS file. For example, the Entity dimension !Hierarchies section would look like:
If a member is a Base member (i.e. a normal member, not a Shared one) then the property should be set to Y.
If a member is a Shared member then the property should be set to N (and the DataStorage property must be set to ShareData).
    HTH-
    Jasmine.
