Dutch public transport apps on C7??

Hi all,
It seems I can't install the Dutch public transport app '9292OV Pro' and the Dutch Railways app 'NS Reisplanner Xtra' on to my C7. The app doesn't even show up in the app store when I select that I have a C7. When I select another type, it does come up, but it won't install on my C7.
What's up with that? I need those apps!!!
Can anyone help me out?
Thanks!

OK. Two questions in return:
1. After you did the one time registration with that keyboard, do you need the keyboard for actually using the app? Or can you just use your phone then?
2. For those of us that do not own such a keyboard (like me!), how can we deal with this? Is there another way, or can we borrow one at a Nokia store?
1) As I didn't know what questions to expect next requiring translation, I did not proceed any further with this fictitious registration.
2) Probably any further effort is doomed to failure here unfortunately as have seen similar results with Australian banking applications compatible with S60 5th Ed. fail on Symbian^3 devices for much the same reason.

I have encountered the same error message: "Can't finish installing just now. Go to the apps menu to try again in a little while."
I have contacted Nokia Care. Their phone tech support (Level 2) contacted me and instructed me to install Public Transport  2.5.0 with Nokia Suite's Ovi Store. They also encountered the same issue as I did. My issue is now escalated and Nokia will contact me after consulting their senior technicians. I hope this issue can be resolved.
Also, where are these logs kept inside the 808? I cannot find anything when using X-Plore on my phone.

  • Map ***** for public transportation! What app can help me get the same results as the map before the ios6 upgrade?!!

I remember using maps for public transportation before i start driving and it was pretty godd. Telling me when the next bus is departing giving me all the option necerssary to get to where i want to go all in the map app...now when i touch on the public transportation option it just take me to a bunch of apps that i try and try and none of them work as the map...so now i want to know if there is any app that can replace the efficience of maps before      ios6     upgrade...
    Please help

There are lots of public transit information apps in the App Store. A search for "public transit" or "public transportation" should turn them up. What you might find useful would depend on where you'd be using it. I've used HopStop.

  • Network data model for public transport

    Hi,
I've been playing with Gis for the last 10 years and now I am enrolled in a project to find best way to go from one point to another in Barcelona (Spain) locations, using the public transport network.
The goal is to get a route, from one address to another (both given as inputs), formed by:
    -     a 1st piece of path walking to the bus stop
    -     a 2nd piece of path involving the bus used to go from one bus stop to another
    -     optional 3rd piece of path with a second bus
    -     the last piece of path to walk from the destination bus stop to the destination address.
This is a nice problem to resolve with a quite good looking software like the Oracle NDM. I know the big problem will be to put all the data in the right format.
But the question I’d like to share with you would be to approve or improve the algorithm I am thinking to resolve this:
    STRUCTURE
Network Data Model NDM_1: creation of a SDO spatial network with all the streets and cross-roads to walk through
Other NDM_2 to store the bus stops with the bus-route-linking information.
The reason to put them separately is for easily maintenance (a priori).
[A second approach perhaps would be to put the bus stops as nodes of NDM_1 also]
    ALGORITHM
    1. Look for bus-stops near the geolocated origin address. (say listing BS_ORIG_list)
    2. Look for bus-stops near the geolocated destination address. (say listing BS_DEST_list)
    3. Search through NDM_2 for possible correspondences between BS_ORIG_list and BS_DEST_list through single bus line or by two different bus lines applying a network constraint.
(if not correspondence found or if more than 2 bus lines needed, abort by app requirement)
    4. Find the walking paths needed to complete the various routes found in step 3 to get from address origin to destination
    5. Order the results by time spent or by meters to walk.
Sure there might be improvements to this solution and also other ways to face such a common problem.
    Thanks in advance,
    David Foix

    Hi Andrejus,
    Thanks for answering.
I read through your thread already...
I understand and agree it would be a multimodal network. But what would that mean in the time of storing the data and asking for the route?
But I am still doubting the way to query for the resulting route. Having two adresses to join, would there be a nice function or procedure to ask for the route giving preference to walk the minimum meters and use preferently the bus network?
Or should I rely on the first algorithm I proposed? I thought there would be a nicer solution.
In your case, "road transport, railway transport, naval transport and air transport" I understand it would be a case to use different networks as they don't share spatial geometry, only some nodes..isn't it? Did you have the need to join all of them to find route solution giving preference to one of them?
    Regards,
    David

Hi, Thanks for the speedy reply.
I don’t see any themes to choose in Captivate 8.
If I did, would Apply Theme be shown on the Themes menu after I chose a theme with buttons?
My goal is to apply a custom theme.
As a workaround, I ran Captivate 6, created a project in that and applied my custom theme. Themes > Apply Theme is shown in Captivate 6.
Then I opened the new project in Captivate 8 and the theme I want is in effect.
Is there something wrong with my installation of Captivate 8?

what is your solution for getting public transportation in map? Actually my iphone is useless for me because it hasn't a public transportation map.

This has been a huge problem for me too. I was actually late to work yesterday and wanted to throw my phone out the window of the bus that I finally was able to find. I'm new to Portland, so this suddenly missing feature is particularly problematic. It really is so hard to avoid getting angry, I just can't believe they would eliminate a feature that people rely on so heavily. But anger doesn't do any good so I'm trying my hardest to stay calm and figure out an acceptable solution while Apple works to restore this feature - at least I pray to God that that's what they aim to do. Here are the apps that I've been trying, I'll try to explain how they work and maybe they will work for you. This is going to be a long post, but I'm hoping some people will find it helpful.
I'll start with the most obvious of all - adding Google Maps to your homescreen. Every time you launch the app you will get a diaologue prompting you to allow Google Mpas to use your location, and then you will be in an environment that looks similiar to what we are used to. It does not integrate with your contact list, so one workaround I've been using is going to my contacts and holding my finger on an address to copy it to the clipboard. Be aware that leaving this web app will lose whatever you're looking at and go back to the start, so best to do this before you launch it. You'll notice some strange behavior - for instance the drop down menu of suggested locations will apear and then quickly disaprear, so just ignore this. Often it will often unexpectadly scroll to the top for some reason when you're trying to do something towards the bottom. Haven't figured out a fix except for trying to not get flustered and doing things slowly and deliberately. It's not as quick as we're used to anyway so this is not hard to do. If you'd like to see any of the suggested routes on a map you can do this by clicking the small 'Map View' link. Just be aware that you can only do this once or you will have to type in your starting an ending points again, as there is no way to go back to the list you were just looking at once you are in map view. One thing that I have found helpful about the Google maps method is when looking at a route, whether in list or map view, you can see the stop ID right there, which is helpful if your city has a way to check real-time arrivals. For instance here in Portland you can text this stop ID to a certain number and immediately receive real-time arrivals.
The app I've been using most is called 'Transit'. It's pretty beautiful aesthetically, and the UI is simpler than anything else I've come across, which is convenient for a task that you want to accomplish as quickly as possible so you can put away your phone and be on your way. When you first launch it you're presented with three bus routes that stop near your current location. It tells you which direction the route is headed and in how many minutes the next bus is scheduled to arrive. This is helpful if you are familiar with that particular busline, otherwise there's no indication of where the line will take you. Upon clicking a line, you're presented with three buttons (again, loving the simplicity). One reverses the direction of that same busline. One expands the list of times so you can quicly see all the arrival times for that bus route at that particular stop for the entire day. The other takes you to map view and quickly displays the location of this stop. And here's the best feature of all (!!), it shows you the busline as a blue line and every single stop is marked with a circle. You can click on a circle and it displays the expected arrival time at that stop. This is all very helpful in some circumstances, but of course it does not let you type in a destination and have it build a route for you, and if you'll be transferring to another line this will not help you at all. To accomplish this you press the arrow in the lower left where you can type in a starting point, ending point, and an arrival/departure time. And this DOES reference your contact list. It will then allow you to quickly switch between three routes that it selects. It also searches Maps (actually it says 'Powered by Foursquare' for landmarks/establishments. For instance if I type in 'sushi', I'm presented with a handful of sushi joints in my area. There is a bug in this app where sometimes the 'Route' button is missing and you can only resolve this by leaving the app and quitting the process in the multitasking trail. When it builds your route, you can click on any point of transfer and it will tell you what time that bus/train is leaving. There is no list view, but personally I never found list view very helpful anyway. I know some people will disagree though.
Now I'll talk about HopStop. This is a kind of clunky interface unfortunately, and also has ads which I can't stand. It is able to reference your contact list. My least favorite thing about this app is the list it gives you is so excessively long-winded it's hilarious. Every single stop along the route is listed in this list view, so you'll be scrolling through literally dozens of pages of useless information like 'Pass such-and-such - 1 min. Pass such-and-such - 1 min. Pass such and such - 2 min.' Oh well. The good news is on this insanely long list, it indicates when you are supposed to do something other than sit patiently in your seat by having an icon to the left of that instruction - either a person walking or a bus number. When you switch to list view unfortunately it no longer displays departure times, so you'll have to be switching betwen maps and list view. One great feature of this app is it lets you save routes to your favorite list. It also lets you find bus stops and quickly see what bus lines hit those stops. I can't stand the flashing advertisements, so I avoid using this at all costs.
On to 'City Maps'. Again, the first thing you will see is a short list of bus lines that hit the stop nearest to you. Tap on one and it shows you the next three departures in either direction, as well as the distance between your current location and the stop in question. This app also searches for restaurants and such, but takes this feature on step further. Here when I type in 'sushi' and select a restaurant, I'm brought to a page that links to the Yelp, Foursquare, and Facebook pages associated with it - even has a link that takes you directly to the menu if Foursquare has it. Awesome feature, right?? Tap on 'Map' and it immediately displays the location and an option to build a few routes. It always displays the walking route below the bus lines to give you a sense of how long it would take (even if it's a two hour walk). Clicking on a bus route on this list takes you to list view. Unfortunately this also displays a deluge of pointess turns that only the bus driver need worry about, but it's not as bad as HopStop. There's an optional feature where it can display Google Street View images right in this list view, if you think that could be helpful. With one tap it quickly switches to a very aesthetically pleasig map view. There's an update button that lets you immediately refresh directions, edit starting/ending points, or give it new directions altogether.
I'm sure in just a moment someone will come along and say something insulting about how we're blowing things out of proportion. I guess that's just the nature of trolls - a lot of people find being angry on forums while hiding behind their screen names cathartic for obvious reasons. Let's all of us just do our best to ignore these people and keep this discussion diplomatic and oriented towards helpful solutions. I know none of us want to give up our beloved iPhones, I'm only considering it as a last resort.

Not a clue, but the basic User Guide troubleshooting might help:

Restart iPhone: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPhone. To turn iPhone back on, press and hold the Sleep/Wake until the Apple logo appears.

Just noticed that driving directions are now finally functioning for Japan! Does anyone know if the new firmware will bring a working public-transport function to Japan as well? It already worked (before driving directions did) on Google Maps, but just wanted to see if anyone with a beta version had tested it on the phone yet?

Thanks, Of Course. I didn't think about the NDA, was hoping for more along the lines of "a friend of a friend said...". Guess I will just have to wait and see if it works here or not.

  • Maps: Public Transportation Route "Settings" Just Changed?

So, I regularly use the Maps Public Transportation feature to get my bus times, but as of yesterday, its settings (which to the best of my knowledge I have no control over) seem to have changed to allow it to pick buses that make me walk approximately a mile to and from the bus stop, and also to change buses along the route (which may be good for some people, but not necessary for my trip, which makes getting the schedule for my actual buses pretty near impossible). It never did this before. Does anyone have any insight on this? Am I missing some setting somewhere to control this? Thanks!

The public transportation data come from Google Maps, so the change would have to be on their end.

IS there any document says that don't revoke public access for E-bus database?
I could not find out any document in metalink. if have any one document could you please share with me.

    Hi Prince,
Oracle does not say "do not revoke privileges from PUBLIC." Oracle suggests caution when revoking privileges from PUBLIC. :-) Have a look at the following Metalink Note: [Be Cautious When Revoking Privileges Granted to PUBLIC|https://metalink2.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/showdoc?db=NOT&id=247093.1|Metalink Note 247093.1].
To satisfy your auditors, you could identify which database users actually need to use UTL_HTTP, and assign that privilege directly to the individual users. Then you should be able to revoke those privileges from PUBLIC.
For more information about securing E-Business Suite itself, review [Best Practices for Securing the E-Business Suite|https://metalink2.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/showdoc?db=NOT&id=189367.1|Metalink Note 189367.1], or for Release 12, [Best Practices For Securing Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12|https://metalink2.oracle.com/metalink/plsql/showdoc?db=NOT&id=403537.1|Metalink Note 403537.1].

As an educator and speaker I use my iPad, iPod Touch, and iMac a lot for study and research. Most of my books are old public domain works obtained from google books, project gutenberg, etc. I use Calibre on my iMac as my "main" library/device and I can convert the ebook to almost any format.
    My goal:
I need to have an eReader app that works on my three devices (iMac, iPad, iPod) that will support annotations/notes across the three devices. These books are not purchased from Amazon, B&N, Apple, etc so there is no syncing that occurs. They are DRM free.
The annotations do not actually need to "sync" but they need to be able to be moved from device to device along with the book file itself.
To date, I have found only Kindle allows this.. Kindle for desktop and the iPad/iPod Kindle app. But there is a catch... The Kindle annotation file (.mbp file) that is created when the book is "loaded" into the library is slightly different between the Desktop version and the app.
The iPad .mbp will work on both iMac and iPad/iPod but the desktop .mbp doesn't work on the iPad. Therefore, even if I am going to markup a book on the desktop, I first need to put it on the iPad and then move the mbp file to the Kindle library on my iMac.
But this does work. On the iMac I go to iTunes.. my iPad... apps... Kindle... and the mbp file is there along with the mobi file. This mbp annotation file can then be copied to the iMac and notes/bookmarks, etc are retained across devices.
    My question....
Out of all the desktop and iPad eReader apps, Kindle is the ONLY one I have found where I can successfuly move the annotations from device to device. Has anyone else found another app that does this?
I love NookStudy on the iMac desktop but there is no compatible NookStudy app for the iPad. Likewise, there are some good readers out there but some don't even allow "sideloading" of material that is not purchased thru the reader.
It seems that every eReader app is designed to sell books (well yes, I know, that's why they are free! They are there to sell books!) but I know I'd pay for a good "study" reader that "syncs" across devices, does not not have a "commercial host" (to sell their books), and is designed for public domain and non-drm works.
In short... an OPEN SOURCE eReader study app designed to best function.. not designed to sell.
    Ideas... Comments Please...

It sounds as if you haven't really looked at apps that read and annotate PDFs, that you've mostly been using ebook readers. Apps like iAnnotate and PDF Expert will allow you to add standard annotations to pdfs that can be read by other pdf readers such as Acrobat or Preview. I would imagine that many, if not all of the files you're using are either available in pdf format or could be converted easily enough.
    Best of luck.

  • Digital signage for public transport

    Hello,
My customer needs to install cisco digital media player in the public buses and every evening when buses are in the
garage he wants to upload content to DMPs through wireless connection. after that hole day the DMPs must play uploaded content autonomously, because they will not be registered in   cisco digital manager when buses are out of garage.
the question is if there anyone who have experience in such kinda configuration?
How easy to install DMPs into the cars? i mean is there any powering options for DMPs?
How reliable is manage DMPs through wireless?
DMPs must automaticaly connect to wireless APs when they will be in the garage.
    thanks ahead

I have done something similar and can help you through this process.
You just need to setup a distribution package to occur at midnight or sometime when the buses are in the garage and then set the DMP's to play that package. You could even setup a local cache on the bus and have the DMP's just point to that local cache all the time. Refreshing the cache each night would provide new content to the DMP's each day. Power can be PoE or standard outlet power. Most buses will have an inverter. You could put a line filter on it just to be sure though or a UPS.
