Dvd won't insert into drive

ENVY15-3040NR. Try to put in a DVD and it pushes it back out. Tried reloading the driver and all other system messages show everything is ok with DVD drive. Nothing is obstructing it. Appreciate any help and suggestions

Hi,
All of them or just few ? If only few, those DVD's are no good for that drive. One of my machines won't read (will push out) all DVD's which come with the monthly PC Users (now Tech Life).
Regards.

    DVD won't insert.
Right side blocked by a lever or something.
I just ejected one DVD but can't put in the next one. It only goes 1/3 the way in.
To get the previous one accepted, I restarted the computer holding down the eject key, applying slight pressure pushing the DVD inward, the blockade moved, and it accepted it during the shutdown portion of the restart. The lever seemed to shift from its position.
I launced DVD Player and clicked the eject button and it has no effect.
I'm doing a multi-disk software install so I can't restart between each disc (and shouldn't have to anyway)
Is there something I can do to reset the position of that internal lever- other than restarting the computer????

  • How do I stream the dvd's I insert into my mac on my apple tv?

How do I stream the dvd's I insert into my mac on my apple tv?

    Welcome to the Apple community.
If your Mac meets the specifications for airplay mirroring, then you can play your DVDs but you will have to use a program such as VLC.
AirPlay Mirroring requires a second-generation Apple TV or later, OS X 10.8 or better and is supported on the following Mac models: iMac (Mid 2011 or newer), Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer), and MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer).

  • 2 dvds inserted into drive. i can't get them out! any ideas?

My daughter inserted 2 dvds into the drive and the computer is trying to eject them, but they are stuck! any suggestions? can't find any advice on the apple website. thanks!

Restart, holding down the mouse button. If that doesn't do the trick, then a trip to an Apples repair station is in order.

  • Disc won't insert into Superdrive

I noticed recently that when trying to put a disc into my macbook, it was very hard to insert the disc. It still went in, but took a significant amount of force. Once it get in far enough, the drive started making noise and trying to accept the disc, however it would never actually go in. I took it to the genius bar and was told I needed a new drive, but it was out of warranty. I replaced the drive myself with the exact same model drive (HL-DT-ST DVD+/-RW GSA-S10N) with the guide at iFixIt.com, and the install went smoothly. However when I started the macbook up again, it has the exact same problem as the old drive. This leads me to believe it isn't the drive, but what else could it be? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Note the problem may be one of a disc being put in that didn't meet standards for slot loading drives as mentioned in this article:

If you only put in spec non-labelled self made discs or commercial discs that are not copy-protected that are also spec, and have this problem, yes, call AppleCare:

  • 1.4GB DVD cannot be inserted into computer

I just bought my first Mac. I'm having some problems attempting to insert a 1.4gb DVD (The smaller DVD that you use with a camcorder) into the Mac. When I insert it, it immediately spits it right out.
Is there a caddy, or something I have to use to get this to work, or will this just not work with a mac that inserts DVD media vertically?

Any size disk that is other than standard 12cm will not fit into the iMac's optical drive, nor is it supported. Do not put anything that is not 12cm in diameter in the optical drive as it may damage the drive and/or the disk. You're lucky that the drive just spit the disks out. As far as I've heard of people putting smaller disks in their drives, they become lodged and non-removeable.

  • Thinkpad 256GB Solid State Drive 43N3417 won't fit into Drive Bay Adapter 43N3412

According to Document ID  PD010634, http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product-and-parts/detail.page?LegacyDocID=MIGR-73170 and Document ID  PD013418, http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product-and-parts/detail.page?&LegacyDocID=MIGR-73173 it should fit with the 1.8" to 2.5" converter.
When I try to fit the drive into the Drive Bay Adapter, it won't fit.  It is like the plastic housing is just a little too big.  The adapted drive end appears to be correct, but the housing is just a little too big.  I don't want to force it and break something.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thanks so much.

    Hello,
    please try the following procedure.
Then SSD must be installed in your TP. Then clone your image from extern disc to internal SSD.
The other way, from internal to external , won´t work.

  • CDs/DVDs won't mount

Neither will mount after insertion into drive. In order to mount them, I have to use Disk Utility. I've repaired permissions which didn't affect this at all.
Is this just a dirty drive of some kind of software problem or hardware failure?

Hi holgaguy, it appears you have a Rev A Imac and resetting the SMU will sometimes correct hardware issues. I would try that first if you feel comfortable removing the back of your Imac. Then just read this link, alot of it won't apply to your exact problem but will show you how to reset the SMU. Seen as they will work through disk utilities I would guess the the drives are not pooched. Post back with the result and we can go from there. Bob :~))

  • CS5.1 Requests inserting in drive D:

    Hi!
After a BSoD and total re-install of everything (Win8.1), such as CS5.1 and Lightroom, when starting window pops up asking to insert into drive D: and then offering three choices (we use the German version) of repeat, cancel and ignore.
Hitting any of those fields 10 times starts the program normally.
Drive D: is usually for a chip card.
What can I do to get rid of this message?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
Does the folder c:\users\my profile\downloads folder belongs to your new local accout or the original live account?
If it is the original live account, then I would suggest you access\look for the files with your original live acocunt, after you login with that account, copy the files to C:\Users\Public folder, folders\files under the public folder will be accessable
to other user accounts in system.

  • Error Msg - There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive

Okay, I have been using itunes w/the same ipod for quite a while. Recently my computer died so I just bought a new one. Before getting rid of the old one I logged onto windows and moved all my files to an external drive. I am now using this external drive for all my docs, music, etc. on the new computer and did a "move" of "my documents" (including "my music" contained therein). I installed itunes and my ipod using the software disks that came with my ipod. I inserted the ipod and it worked fine but it did make me associate the ipod with this new computer and had to reinstall all my music on my ipod. So far so good. Then when I went to play a purchased song itunes informed me that I had to upgrade to the most recent version of itunes to play the song. I then dowloaded the update and installed it. After installing the updated itunes, itunes then basically re-associated itself with my ORIGINAL profile (I'm not sure if profile is the correct word to use here) and once again deleted everything on my ipod and reinstalled all my songs. Now this is where I began having this problem. Now, everytime I run itunes (with or without my ipod connected) I get 12 of the above-mentioned error messages. The top of the box says "Windows - No Disk" and the main part of the box says "There is no disk in the drive. Please insert a disk into drive." I am given the choice of "Cancel" "Try Again" and "Continue." I hit cancel for a total of 12 times. I've tried with disks in both of my cd/dvd drives and get the same message. The funny thing is that I have about 12 or so card readers (scene by the computer as drives) and I'm thinking that maybe itunes is trying to access those drives or something, but I'm not sure. So, that's it in a nutshell. Any help by someone w/knowledge of this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

This can also be caused in iTunes 7 by "dead tracks": songs that iTunes is expecting to find in a certain place but the song file isn't there.
I recently upgraded to version 7 and got this message every time I started iTunes. I used the iTunes COM SDK for Windows with JScript to find all the dead tracks in my library. Then I fixed them by either deleting them from the library or else correcting the library's idea of where the song file was. Once I did this the message went away.
Another way to look for dead tracks is to parse the iTunes library XML file and look for invalid file paths. I did this in Perl without too much trouble.
(I'm cross-posting this to several threads about the same problem.)

  • QT file burnt onto DVD doesn't show when DVD reinserted into drive

This has happened several times now, and is beginning to affect my work.
Here's what happens: I create a self-contained QT file from FCP (7.0.2, fwiw). I insert a blank single-sided (ie 4.7GB) DVD into my internal DVD drive, drag the QT file into it and click 'burn'. The burning process proceeds exactly as I would expect and, at the end, I can click on the DVD icon and see my QT file on the disc. I can open the QT file and play it.
In fact, things don't go wrong until I eject the disc. When I've done that and I re-insert it into the same drive, suddenly the disc is blank! This happens even if I reboot the Mac Pro in the meantime. However, if I insert the drive into my partner's iMac, the QT file is there and can be opened. If I reboot my Mac Pro in Windows, the disc still shows up as blank - as it does on other people's PCs (haven't checked any other Macs yet).
What can be causing this? The drive works fine in all other respects (eg playing movies, installing software, etc.). This problem started happening a few months ago, but in all other respects the drive is working fine. (Oh, I can successfully make a movie DVD from DVD Studio Pro, btw - it's just burning QT files that causes the problem.)
Thanks in advance for your help, everyone.

Well, I seem to have flummoxed you all. Problem still recurring, by the way.
(Incidentally, when I said in my post "suddenly the disc is blank", I hope it was clear that the disc isn't actually blank - just for some reason my Mac thinks it is.)

  • Is there a way to create a .dmg file for a DVD inserted into the system

I am wondering if Snow Leopard has integrated any tools that can create a .dmg file for the CD or DVD inserted into the system?
If not, any recommendations for freeware 3rd party tools? Thanks

Insert the disc you want to create the .dmg from, then choose the disc in the left hand pane of Disk Utility. From the File menu, choose New > Disk Image from (name of disc).
EDIT: This is basically how it's done; however, there may be other steps involved, depending on the type of disc you're trying to copy and what your goals are with the .dmg. If you provide more details about what you're trying to achieve, maybe we can help you further.

It sounds like you downloaded the wrong application, namely Adobe Premiere Elements.
If you meant Adobe Photoshop Elements, you're in the wrong forum.  This is not the Elements forum.
Here's the link to the forum you want:

If you mean Photoshop proper, since you are posting in the Photoshop forum, give version details and your system specs.
    BOILERPLATE TEXT:
Note that this is boilerplate text.
If you give complete and detailed information about your setup and the issue at hand,
such as your platform (Mac or Win),
exact versions of your OS, of Photoshop (not just "CS6", but something like CS6v.13.0.6) and of Bridge,
your settings in Photoshop > Preference > Performance
the type of file you were working on,
machine specs, such as total installed RAM, scratch file HDs, total available HD space, video card specs, including total VRAM installed,
what troubleshooting steps you have taken so far,
    what error message(s) you receive,
if having issues opening raw files also the exact camera make and model that generated them,
if you're having printing issues, indicate the exact make and model of your printer, paper size, image dimensions in pixels (so many pixels wide by so many pixels high). if going through a RIP, specify that too.
    etc.,
someone may be able to help you (not necessarily this poster, who is not a Windows user).
a screen shot of your settings or of the image could be very helpful too.
