Dynamic Action on tabular form: to auto set value for all changes rows

Hi All:
I am using APEX4.2.3 and I am not very familar with JQUERY or Javascript.
I am having a tabular form to support Update and Delete action. The tabular form has 4 columns:
Column A: ID                      (Number)     : Read-only column
column B: Name                 (Varchar2)   : Editable
Column C: Age                    (Number)     : Editable
Column D: ChangeFlag      (Varchar2)   : Read-only column                             ==> however, I want this column been automatically upldated by my APEX application
Here is the requirement: First user update Column B, or C or both for # of rows; then user click "Save Change" button. For ALL updated rows, I need to automatically update Column D with below logic:
For a given row,
               IF Column D IS NULL  THEN
                     set value = 'M'                           -- M means modified
               ELSE --- column D has a value already
                    IF last character of Column D is 'M', THEN
                           don't do anything;
                    ELSE
                          set value of D = existing value + 'M'                       (here + means concatenate
                   END IF;
            END IF;
I thought this can be done by creating dynamic action on tabular form ... I have researched this on this forum and can't find a good match example ..
I know I can implement this using a DB trigger; however, I want to learn if this can be achived via Dynamic Action.
Thanks!
Kevin

Hi Expert:
Anyone can offer any direction or help on this?
Thanks!

  • Dynamic action on tabular forms fields

    Hello guys.
    As I can see on the tabular form's fields I can't perform dynamic actions. What I want is to have a select list item when at the event Change it changes the values for all the records in that report. For example if I have 40 records in that tabular form and I change the value from "Open" to "Close to the field called Status, I want to see that change (Status value from "Open" to Close") reflected in all the rows of that tabular form. Is that make sense?
    Thank you, Bernardo.

    Hi Bernardo,
    There are several ways to accomplish what you want.
    - You can create a PL/SQL procedure to handle an update on all rows based on the value of your changed column value. I once wrote a blog post that might help you with that:
    http://vincentdeelen.blogspot.nl/2013/06/custom-multi-row-processing-using.html
    -You can create a dynamic action with javascript or jQuery to handle the change event.
    The first option is more secure since it's handled by the database, the second one is simpler and can instandly set all the entire column for all displayed rows, without the need to refresh your tabular form, or your entire page. For a secure working you should however have some validation at the database end. Also I think it is not possible to set the values for rows that are not displayed, that again would require some PL/SQL for handling.
    If you need any help setting up the dynamic action, please put up an example on apex.oracle.com.
    Regards,
    Vincent

  • Dynamic Form in Tabular Form i.e SET VALUE

    Hi,
    I have an tabular form ,
    In which two column are there i.e username and department
    Just I wnt to know can dynamic action i.e SET VALUE CAN BE USED IN TABULAR FORM.
    AS I CHANGE THE USERNAME THERE PERSPECTIVE DEPARTMENT SHOULD CHANGE.
    can anyone help.

    Hello Trent,
    I too, am attempting to set the value of an item when another item is changed.
    I need to capture the APP_USER changing the row for each row changed in the tabular form when submitted.
    My table is in a remote database that is not allowed to have APEX loaded directly in the instance (or db link TO the APEX instance).
    Can’t get the APP_USER making the change at this level, as the APEX code is not there.
    The instance that hosts the APEX installation accesses the table via a view through a db link.
    Can’t use a trigger on the view to set the APP_USER using APEX functionality.
    Not desirable to re-invent the IUD wheel using instead-of triggers.
    The example you posted on http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=45448:11 is exactly what I need (even though your example sets the value on Lose Focus and I Set value on Change).
    I am attempting to implement the dynamic action for the item using your javascript, and am almost there....but not quite. The dynamic action is updating the target item in ALL the rows in the tabular form, not just the one that is being changed.
    This, I am sure, is due to my inexperience with Dynamic Actions, jquery syntax, and the javascript API’s for APEX. I believe I know what the issue IS, I’m just not sure how to work around it.
    Please note: I attempted to download your example at the above website (turning off popup blockers), but had no success (I got the thank-you for downloading message, but have no clue what was downloaded to where). I was hoping to compare your form Dynamic action with mine to see where I went wrong.
    If you could please, review the following and:
    1)     let me know what might be different from your working example?
    2)     provide info on how to get your working form downloaded (such a tease to have the download link there and not get it to work ;0} ) , please?
    The following shows the html from view source for a row in my tabular form. This will help you get an idea of the items. The actual number of rows in the form is about 50.
    <table cellpadding="0" border="0" cellspacing="0" summary="" class="report-standard">
    <tr class="highlight-row">
    <td headers="CHECK$01" class="data">
    <label for="f01_0002" class="hideMe508">CHECK$01</label>
    <input type="checkbox" name="f01" value="2" class="row-selector" id="f01_0002" />
    </td>
    <td headers="JOBNO_DISPLAY" class="data">X111Y2222</td>
    <td align="center" headers="DEPR" class="data">
    <label for="f03_0002" class="hideMe508">DEPR</label>
    <input type="checkbox" name="f03_NOSUBMIT" value="1" id="f03_0002_01"
    onClick="if (this.checked) {apex.jQuery('#f03_0002').val('1');}
    else {apex.jQuery('#f03_0002').val('');}" />
    <input type="hidden" name="f03" value="" id="f03_0002" /></span>
    </td>
    <td headers="UPDUSER" class="data">
    <label for="f04_0002" class="hideMe508">UPDUSER</label>
    <input type="text" name="f04" size="16" maxlength="2000"
    value="MOMSDAT" id="f04_0002" />
    </td>
    <td headers="DERIVED$01" class="data">MOMSDAT</td>
    <td headers="UPDDATE" class="data">13-DEC-11
    <label for="f02_0002" class="hideMe508">JOBNO</label>
    <input type="hidden" name="f02" value="X111Y2222" id="f02_0002" />
    <input type="hidden" id="fcs_0002" name="fcs"
    value="DB31F7B9ED99E6A2F7295F6B7D236409">
    <input type="hidden" id="frowid_0002" name="frowid"
    value="AAATI3AAGAAAAIXAAo" />
    <input type="hidden" id="fcud_0002" name="fcud" value="U" />
    </td>
    </tr>.....
    <tr>.....</tr>
    </table>
    To help explain:
    I have a checkbox associated with array name f03_NOSUBMIT,
    This checkbox OnClick updates a hidden item associated with array name f03. The hidden item is linked to the depr column of my view/table (this functionality is straight from Oracle’s tabular checkbox wizard – works great, no problems).
    When the check box is changed, I need to capture the APP_USER value in the UPDUSER field associated with the f04 array (nice that the array names matched up with your example :0} )
    To do so, I created a dynamic action:
    Name: Set_Upduser
    Sequence: 10 (it’s the only DA)
    Event: Change
    Select Type: jQuery Selector
    jQuery Selector: input[name=”f03_NOSUBMIT”]
    --note: the event does not fire if I use f03
    --since that value is not actually
    --changed until submit with this
    --method.
    Condition: - No condition –
    True Actions:
    Sequence: 10
    Action: Set Value
    Fire When Event Result is: True
    Fire On page Load: Unchecked
    Stop Execution On Error: Checked
    Set Type: JavaScript Expression
    JavaScript Expression:
    var row = $x_UpTill(this.triggeringElement, 'TR');
    var otherElement = $('input[name="f04"]',row)[0];
    otherElement.value = '&APP_USER.';
    Selection type: jQuery Selector
    jQuery Selector: input[name="f04"]
    This ALMOST works...
    When I run the page and click on just one check box, the UPDUSER fields are updated with the APP_USER for ALL the records, not just the row for the checkbox I clicked. And, if I submit the changes, ALL the records in the table now have the APP_USER in the UPDUSER column. Not just the column where the check box was changed (Which would be expected since all the values are changed in the form – hey, the submit part works :0} ).
    Your example at http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=45448:11 works, setting the value for the target field only for that row. If I can get mine to work the same way, I will be good to go (as in hog-heaven, doing the Snoopy Supper-Time dance).
    I am thinking my issue is with the row identification in the
    --- var otherElement = $('input[name="f04"]',row)[0];
    I seem to not be picking up the row value in the row var.
    Am I reading line correctly where 'input[name="f04"]' is pNd, and row is pValue? Read the description of the $x_UpTill API, not sure how this is working to identify pValue (Row?).
    Additionally, I am not sure what the [0] is for at the end of the otherElement var definition. I don’t see that listed with the $ JavaScript API parameters (Google wasn't much help there either).
    OR, am I missing something else?
    Once again, if you could:
    1) let me know what might be different from your working example? (What does yours have that mine doesn’t)
    2) Provide any info on how to get your working form downloaded at http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=45448:11. Please, please?
    As always, your assistance is greatly appreciated!

  • DCIteratorBinding setting the same value for all the rows.

    Hi all,
    I have table with on of the column as id. I have made the id column as the hyper link , that takes me to the next page. I am trying to pass the id to the next page. I am using the managed bean for the same. The below code is used to create the link on the column. It sets the action to the function in the bean that sets the id as of the current row.
    <tr:column sortProperty="id" sortable="false"
    headerText="#{bindings.notification.hints.id.label}"
    id="c4">
    <tr:commandLink action="choice" text="#{row.bindings.id.inputValue}"
    id="cl1" actionListener="#{IdBean.extractID}">
    </tr:commandLink>
    </tr:column>
    below is the IdBean.extratctID()
    public void extractID(ActionEvent actionEvent){
    BindingContext bindingContext = BindingContext.getCurrent();
    BindingContainer bindings;
    bindings = bindingContext.getCurrentBindingsEntry();
    DCIteratorBinding iter;
    iter = (DCIteratorBinding) bindings.get("notificationIterator");
    Row rw;
    rw = iter.getCurrentRow();
    String id;
    id = (String) rw.getAttribute("id");
    this.setId2(id);
    I am printing the id value on to the next page. But its just returning the vslue of the id for the first row for all the rows of the table.
    Any inputs as in do i need to refresh the iterator or something like that.

    Hi,
    Following is the code i have added in my bean
    ValueExpression expression = getFacesContext().getApplication().getExpressionFactory().createValueExpression(getFacesContext().getELContext(), "#{pageFlowScope.emp1}", Object.class);
    Object id = expression.getValue(getFacesContext().getELContext());

    But i am getting NullPointerException. I have tried it with application and request scope as well.

  • Dynamic actions in tabular forms

    Hi,
    i have 4 columns in tabular forms.
    emp_code emp_name emp_position emp_status
    whenever a user enter the emp_code
    the emp_name,emp_position and emp_status should be automatically displayed.
    i try to use dynamic actions to populate the emp_name , emp_position, emp_status.
    but i cannot identify which columns / item to use since its a tabular forms.
    can anyone help ?
    thanks

    here's what you can do for your situation
    <li>Create an AJAX Callback process(PLSQL type) in your page that is similar to
    DECLARE
      lc_result XMLTYPE;
    BEGIN
       SELECT XMLELEMENT("COL"
                                     ,XMLELEMENT("COL1", wwv_flow.g_x01)
                                     ,XMLELEMENT("COL2", LPAD(wwv_flow.g_x01,10,'0'))
                                     ,XMLELEMENT("COL3", RPAD(wwv_flow.g_x01,10,'#'))
                                     ,XMLELEMENT("COL4", 'blah blah')
                                   ) RESULT
      INTO lc_result
      FROM DUAL;
        OWA_UTIL.MIME_HEADER('text/xml', false);
        htp.p('Cache-Control: no-cache');
        htp.p('Pragma: no-cache');
        OWA_UTIL.HTTP_HEADER_CLOSE();
        htp.p(lc_result.getstringval());
    END;This returns an XML with the rows data. I have just used some simple processing of the input data in this case, but you can modify it for your need
    <li>Then have a Dynamic Action that is triggered on change of the f01 input field
    //value of triggered item
    val = $(this.triggeringElement).val();
    //Call Ajax Callback process
    var a = new htmldb_Get(null,$v('pFlowId'),'APPLICATION_PROCESS=FETCH_ROW',$v('pFlowStepId'));
    a.addParam('x01',val);
    X = a.get('XML');
    //Obtain data from returned XML
    col2 = $(X).find('COL2').text() ;
    col3 = $(X).find('COL3').text() ;
    col4 = $(X).find('COL4').text() ;
    //Set items
    this_row = $(this.triggeringElement).parents('tr:first');
    this_row.find('input[name=f02]').val(col2);
    this_row.find('input[name=f03]').val(col3);
    this_row.find('input[name=f04]').val(col4);This sends the f01 field(triggering source) to the PLSQL that returns the data in XML format for 3 other columns and sets those columns.
    Hope that answers your question.

  • Dynamic action on tabular form

    Hi all,
    I'm working on a page with a tabular form. Based on the value of a radio button group, some of the columns has to be hidden. I have some experience with dynamic actions, but not in conjunction with tabular forms. I guess I have to use a jquery expression, but that's another area I don't have any experience in...
    Can someone help me or give me some directions? I'm on Apex 4.1
    Tom
    Edited by: Tom van der Duin on 22-okt-2011 12:02

    Hi there,
    I am using Apex 4.0 and it seems to generate tabular forms like this:
    <th id="START_DATE" class="header"> headings
    <td headers="START_DATE" class="data" style=""> data cellsSo, you can use the Javascript code below to hide and show a column based on its name:
    function hideShowTabularFormColumn(name, show){
      if(show) {
        $("td[headers='"+name+"']").show();
        $("th.#"+name).show();
      } else {
        $("td[headers='"+name+"']").hide();
        $("th.#"+name).hide();
    onsomesortofevent="hideShowTabularFormColumn('START_DATE', false);"Note that, even hidden, the fields will still be submitted.

  • Dynamic actions and tabular forms

    I'm trying to attach a dynamic action to a tabular form item, and it's not working the way I'm expecting it to. Since you can't attach dynamic actions to parts of a tabular form in the "normal" way that you can for page items, I'm using JQuery selectors to pick the parts to link to. For links (such as opening a pop-up window with more information about a row), this is working fine. But I'm really struggling to attach to a simple checkbox.
    On my tabular form, I've got a simple checkbox. I've tried putting text in the Element Attributes, Element Option Attributes, CSS Class, CSS Style, and HTML Expression fields, but none of them appear to be making it through to the source code of the generated page. Which means, I think, that I'm limited to using a jQuery Selector along the lines of "input[name=f07]", but creating a dynamic action on click or on change with that selector doesn't seem to ever fire.
    What am I missing?
    -David

    Ok, this is interesting. When I tried to mock this up on apex.oracle.com, I was able to make it work (though I had to change the selector to "input[name=f07_NOSUBMIT]", which means I'm going to have to walk the DOM to get the actual value...but I'm pretty sure I can handle that). After a bit of scratching my head, I eventually found that my pop-up dynamic action was somehow or other blocking the checkbox dynamic action from firing. Changing the sequence so that the checkbox DA happens first allows them both to fire.
    Here's the javascript from the pop-up DA (it's based on this post by Havard Kristiansen):
    /* prevent default behavior on click */
    var trgt = this.triggeringElement.href;
    var e = this.browserEvent;
    e.preventDefault();
    /* Trigger JQuery UI dialog */
    var horizontalPadding = 30;
    var verticalPadding = 30;
    $('<iframe id="modalDialog" src="' + trgt + '" />').dialog({
         title: "Item Details",
         autoOpen: true,
         width: 570,
         height: 400,
         modal: true,
         close: function(event, ui) {$(this).remove();},
         overlay: {
              opacity: 0.5,
              background: "black"}
    }).width(570 - horizontalPadding).height(400 - verticalPadding);
    return false;At this point, the checkbox DA's action is simply an alert box. Like I said, I'm not sure what's going on, but I'm at least able to move forward...

  • Dynamic Actions on tabular form items

    Has anyone had success with using dynamic actions on a tabular form item?
    When I create a dynamic action for the selection type I believe I want to use DOM Object, I am just not sure what ID I then need to put into the DOM Object field.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated
    Regards
    Mark

    If you wish to use JavaScript with tabular forms, I suggest looking at APEX_ITEM column types. They allow you to specify the JavaScript array number of any given column in your tabular form and rely on it. Then as you loop through your rows you can positively identify the element.
    Example:
    Original query:
    select colA, colB from myTable;
    select apex_item.text(1, colA, 20,20) as myText,
      apex_item.select_list_from_lov(2, colB, 'LOV_MYLOV', 0, 'NO') myLookup
      from myTable;I also highly recommend Firebug for Firefox. It will allow you to drill down into the DOM on any page to see the element identifications as the browser sees them. Definitely the best browser plugin for web development.

    When a row is added the field 'TemplateID' should get
    automatically a new value which is MAX from TEMPLATEID + 1.
    I would be very glad, if someone has a hint for me.
    Thanks in advance,
    lucio

    Hi
    the cause of not seeing the 'Default Item Field' is,
    that during creation of a 'Tabular Form' the column with the
    primary key doesn't get that feature, why so ever.
    I still hope that someone could give me a hint why that code isn't working:
    function SetNewID(vDBID)
    v_check = $v('P20_MAX_TEMPLATEID');
    pNd = $u_Carray(vDBID);
         for(var i=0;i<pNd.length;i++){
              var node = $x(pNd);
              node = $x_Check_For_Compound(pNd[i])
              var lTr = $x_UpTill(node,'TR');
    updateRow = lTr.rowIndex - 1;
    document.wwv_flow.f02[updateRow].value=$v(v_check)
    Many thanks in advance

  • Setting values for non-displayed fields on a Tabular Form

    I'm having a problem setting non-displayed fields on the same table as displayed fields like last_update_date, last_updated_by, id's and other fields when creating new records or updating existing records in a Tabular form.
    What is the best and easiest way to set these values without using database triggers?

    Hi Jes,
    I'm a little reluctant to use database triggers as I used this product a couple of years ago and I'm fairly sure I handled this problem in HTML DB without the use of triggers. I am therefore I'm getting a touch frustrated that I can't remember how to do it now !!
    Do you know of any way of setting values for non-displayed fields on a Tabular Form without using database triggers?
    Also, you seem to be suggesting that database triggers is the best way to do this?
    Thanks

  • Insert Dynamic Action of a Form is not working

    Hello
    I've designed a form and some ratio buttons and some other items. A button fires a dynamic action, first with a submit page true action and then with an insert statement action. The button submits the page too.
    Sometimes the values of the form are inserted into the database correctly, but several times not. A new row is created every time, but in some case with no values in the columns. I tried several configurations but I couldn't find out what the problem is.
    Is there a common reason for this issue?
    Regards
    Felix

    I now found a box in the insert dynamic action saying "Page Items to Submit". I added all Items there and now with three times page submission it now works. Or at least it works according to my testing.

  • How to set value for Dropdown control using Querystring filter wepart

    Hi,
    I have a dropdown in my customized list form and need to set the value for the dropdown control using query string filter web part.
    I am able to set value for textbox control using Query String Filer web part.
    But, since the dropdown values are not populated on form load, the value is not set for dropdown control.
    How to load the values in dropdown control on form load and set a value using Query String filter webpart?
    Thanks,
    dhijit

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that you want to filter choice field using Query String Filter web part.
    To filter using query string filter web part, we can set the default value for the choice field in the query string filter web part panel as below, then connect to the list.
    Now it would be filter by the value you have set.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • How to set value for selectOneChoice

    Hello,
    How to set value for selectOneChoice defined as:

  • Could not set values for dimension in disc R2

    We have a star schema with 11 dimensions.
    We have got the data in the analytic workspace. Now we are trying to create a cross-tab workbook using the wizard in Discoverer Plus R2. We were trying to have the slice of data based upon only Security Type dimension and Maturity dimension.
    Now the tool is asking us to put default values for all other dimensions.
    I could set the desired values for DIM_ASSET_CLASS and DIM_COUNTRY (which are first two). But I could not do it for DIM_CURRENCY (which is the third in the list).
    I click on the “more…” but it never came back with data. Same happened for rest of the dimensions. Hence no data came on the sheet when I click on the “Finish” button. I observed that all those dimensions, in question, the tool has taken defaults (the first available records for each dimension) and which combination does not exists.
    Why the tool is behaving like this? Am I doing anything wrong?
    Also, when I tried to create a worksheet with all eleven dimensions it did not produce any results. Could you please suggest what may be wrong?

    In the Create User UI Task, add an action task which sets the MX_PASSWORD and MX_ENCRYPTED_PASSWORD attributes
    In the To Identity Store Pass use the following mappings
         mskeyvalue     %mskeyvalue%
         MX_ENCRYPTED_PASSWORD     $FUNCTION.sap_encryptPassword()$$
         MX_PASSWORD     $FUNCTION.sap_encryptPasswordMD5()$$
         changeType     modify
    This causes the system to generate a password. Note we haven't got the MX_PASSWORD field in our Create User UI Task
    For Password Reset adding the MX_PASSWORD to the UI is all that's required. When set from the UI the password policy is invoked and the appropriate tasks mapped on the Password Policy Tab of the Identity Store Configuration are triggered. You need to tick Enable password provisioning.
    From the Help file:
    Select this check box to specify that a two-way encrypted version of the password (MX_ENCRYPTED_PASSWORD) should be stored separately to be used for password provisioning. This is in addition to the hashed password (MX_PASSWORD), which is used for authentication.
    Under the section General - Event Handling there is no documentation describing these three event fields - but I think they are linked to the MX_PASSWORD attribute events. We're not currently using the other two Event Handling tasks for Change Password and Disable Account.
    We've linked out AD password change tasks to the General - Event Handling - Modify task.
    I hope this helps.

  • Setting timeout for all the web test scripts in the solution

    Hello,
    I have around 16 web test scripts (using VSTS 2010 ultimate version) in my project (in a solution). By default the timeout set for each request is 60 sec. I need to increase the timeout to 180 sec. Currently, I am clicking on each request and modifying
    the timeout parameter from the Properties window.
    Is there any common setting for timeout available which would be acting across all the scripts?
    Thanks.

    Hello,
    We only can set Timeouts for a separate request in Visual Studio Web Test. There is no way to set Timeout for all requests in VS IDE. But you can write you own logic code using
    Timeout Property in a web test plugin to set Timeout for all requests in a web test.
    About how to write a web test plugin, please see:
    How to: Create a Web Performance Test Plug-In
