Dynamic actions on button and dynamic column name

Hi!ynam
I want to create a dynamic action on button click in my tabular form.
I have a select list with values of my column names (P7_X_COLUMN) and a text field where users input values for update (P7_X_UVALUE).
My idea is that when they click the button, they update selected column to desired value in all rows.
However, I get the following error:
ORA-06550: line 5, column 5: PL/SQL: ORA-01747: invalid user.table.column, table.column, or column specification ORA-06550: line 4, column 1: PL/SQL: SQL Statement ignored (Go to error)
It seems to me that I have not referenced the column name correctly, I thought it was the same as referencing values. How do I do that?
This is my code:

I got it to work, but the query is too big. Can anyone help me with how to get it to work?
I tried breaking it into more varchar2 strings, but i always get the same error:

  • Dynamic Creation of Buttons and Actions HELP

    Hi there,
    I have got a problem (or maybe even two) with the dynamic Creation of buttons. The code below creates the buttons.
    My main problem is, that the parameter created for the button's action isn't propagated to the assigned event handler. I get a null, though the name of the parameter in the event handler and the name of the parameter added to the action are the same.
    Could it also be that I'm always using the same action? I.e. does wdThis.wdGetAddElementAction() always return the same action instance? If yes, how can I create individual actions for each button?
    Any help is appreciated!

    You have done everything correctly....except for 1 line
    in the code...
    Replace the following line in your code:
    actionAddElement.getActionParameters().addParameter("featureIndex", new Integer(i).toString());
    Replace the above line with this code:
    button.mappingOfOnAction().addParameter("featureIndex",i);
    Actually in your code, you are not associating the parameter with the button...
    Note that addParameter(...) comes with two signatures: addParameter(String param, String value) and addParameter(String param, int value). You can use any of them based on yuor need.

  • Buttons and Dynamic Actions

    When triggering a dynamic action from a button, I'd like to prevent the page from submitting. Following the advice from earlier threads, I have set the button to redirect to a URL. But since the dynamic action will be performing all the required actions, I'd like the URL invoked by the button to do nothing.
    What is the best practice for allowing the button to do no more than initiate the DA?

    Edit: Alternatively; instead of triggering the DA using an "onclick" event on the button, can I invoke the DA by naming it as the target URL. That would be the preferred solution I think.

  • Dynamic action on button click

    Hi:
    I need some help.
    I am trying to create a dynamic action on the click of a specific button.
    I have set the Event to 'click" and the Selection Type to "DOM Object", but I do not know how to reference the button. I am using a standard template button and #BUTTON_ATTRIBUTES# is not included in the template - I am not sure how to include it in order to be able to specify an id for the button.
    Can someone give me some guidance on the steps I msut take to implement a dynamic action on the click of a button.

  • Dynamic actions for buttons

    hi all ,
    i am new to apex ,
    i want to create a button , then create a dynamic action to it to do an action , but when i create the button , then go to
    create a dynamic action , i see the a lot of events but when i go to pick an item to create the dynamic action for , i do not see the buttons created ?

    Hi,
    I see. Your local install of Apex is version 4.0, apperantly it is not supported to create a dynamic action that is triggered by a button.
    You can, with some effort, create a dynamic action on a button. You'll need to create a button with 'Button Style' set to 'HTML button' and add a custom class or id to that button under the 'Button Attributes'. For example:

    Then create a dynamic action, choose 'jQuery selector' as selection type and then use the class or the id of the button as selector. The outcome should look something like this:

  • Trying to use Dynamic Action with button - no #BUTTON_ID#

    I saw this post: Issue with apex  dynamic action
    and I'm having exactly the same issue. I'm using the Blue and Tan Theme and the button's "normal template" looks like the following:

    (PS. This application was originally built using APEX 3.2 and upgraded to 4.1. Don't know if that matters or not.)

    The button calls a procedure which can take several minutes to complete. It calculates and stores values for display. I'd like to open up a modal window so that the user has more concrete feedback that the calculation process is underway. I'd also like to tie it to the refresh of a particular region on the page that shows a list of the stored calculations.

    i need to configure automatic email generation for an employee when he gets booked for a training program in the training and event management module. can we use a dynamic action for it? and how to configure it?? I also guess that i have to use the Feature MAILS for it. but i am not sure abt it and also not sure how to configure it.   • Several buttons and dynamic(?) EventListener

    Hi everyone,
    I place 10 buttons on my stage, name it "b1", "b2", "b3",.. , "b10".
    All these buttons should use the same function.
    Is it possible to do it dynamically?

  • How to fetch the junk values of a column and the column name in oracle

    Hello,
    Can anyone help me in writing a procedure/dynamic SQL to fetch the column where the junk values appears and its value. Eg: If emp table contains ID and Name columns, and ID column contains junk values, the result should be the Id column and the junk value/s. It should be dynamic because next time if the other column contains junk values(like $,%...), the query should display the other column too..

  • How to get the table name and bind columns names in an INSERT statement ?

    I have an INSERT statement with input parameters (for example
    INSERT INTO my_table VALUES (:a, :a, :a)) and I want to know
    without parsing the statement which is the name of table to
    insert to and the corresponding columns.
    This is needed to generate the SELECT FOR UPDATE statement to
    refetch a BLOB before actually writing to it. The code does not
    know in advance the schema (generic code).

    Once you have prepared your statement, you can execute the
    statement with the OCI_DESCRIBE_ONLY mode before binding any
    columns. Then you can use OCIParamGet to find out about each
    column (column index is 1-based). You should get OCI_NO_DATA or
    ORA-24334 if there are no more columns in the statement. Note
    that the parameter descriptor from OCIParamGet is
    allocated/freed internally by OCI; you do not need to manage it
    explicitly. The parameter descriptor is passed to OCIAttrGet in
    order to obtain for instance the maximum size of data in the
    column OCI_ATTR_DATA_SIZE. You can also get the column name in
    this way, although I do not remember the #define off the top of
    my head. Getting the table name appears to be much more
    difficult; I have never had to do that yet. Good luck. -Ralph

  • Need to know base table and base column name for Oracle view columns

    I am trying to load metadata for some views and that requires me to know what the final table and column name would be corresponding to the view column.
    For example, if I have a view x_v that is select a,b from x_v2; and x_v2 is a view that is select a,b,c from x;
    I need to get the following information.
    View View Col Base Table Base Col
    X_V A X A
    X_V B X B
    and so on.
    Is it possible to get this programmatically using any SYS schema tables or Dependency tables?
    I tried an indirect approach wherein I lock tables using LOCK TABLE or FOR UPDATE OF. But I'm not too sure if I can go down to the level of individual view columns.
    Can you help me with this?

    I came up with this script that does it faster than dependencies but thats just for tables and not column mapping.

    It basically uses locks on views to verify locks on the base tables.
    Just wondering, can we use FOR UPDATE OF statements to get to the columns?

  • Exporting data to a csv file and include column names

    I am creating a SSIS package which creates a .csv file.  The package works fine except it is not putting the column names as the first row.
    How do I get the column names to also export?

  • Dynamic ALV with Static and Dynamic attributes

    In my requirement we have some 5 static attributes and rest attributes needs needs to be dynamically created based upon the input selections. for eg my input for start date and end date is between 201023 to 201152 then weeks between this range should apear as dynamic columns.
    i am able to create a dummy alv table display with out populating data into it but unable to set the data to it . Kindly help me in solving this issue.

    You might have created a dynamic node, bind the data to this node and after that use the SET_DATA method of ALV interface controller to set the data by passing the dynamically created node.
