Dynamic lov on a apex page parameter form

I'm trying to create a dynamic lov on a apex page parameter form. I read another post to look at metalink note. 292521. I asked our DBA to review the note but he claims he can't find the article. he's also been unable to find the last 2 metalink requests i've made. can someone verify metalink note 292521 exists so i can inform the DBA?
Thanks,
Brian

Brian, I cannot find that note either, try posting your question in the APEX forum, this forum is for Oracle Portal questions.

Mick.

  • Multi value select LOV in report builder 10g parameter form.

    Hi All,
    I have a requirement to show a set of records by getting user input through the report parameter form.
    employee Table.
    emp_id emp_name
    1 A
    2 B
    3 C
    4 D
    5 E
    In the report i am getting emp_id input from the user through list of values (LOV query is "select emp_id from employee where emp_id =:emp_id").
    This condition is working for me. now user want to select multiple emp_id from the LOV. so that the sql query will get the related records from the employee table.
    so the LOV query will work like the following "select emp_id from employee where emp_id in (:emp_id)".
    can enybody help me to acheive the above.
    Thanks

    By all means feel free to post your question as often as you like!
    In webforms DDE runs on the middle tier; it might do what you want against your local OC4J now, but it surely won't open a thing when you run it against an application server.
    Maybe you should enlighten us with your requirement, maybe there is a better solution for your problem.

  • After Parameter Form issue - Oracle Reports 10g

    Hi All,
    I have compiled an .rdf report to an .rep file and when
    I run this file I get the "REP-1247: Report contains uncompiled PL/SQL" message.
    The issue is I have built the report with dynamic XML customizations in the after parameter form trigger. When I remove this piece of code from the trigger both files .rdf and .rep works fine.
    Notice that the .rdf file works fine with the after parameter form XML customization.
    Please, can enyone advice me how can I have a .rep file that contains dynamic XML customization (using the srw.add_definition).
    Thank you in advance.

    In Your code there is a line:
    add_parameter(pl_id,'PARAMFORM',text_PARAMETER,'NO');
    which actually disables the report parameter form.
    The line:
    WEB.SHOW_DOCUMENT ('/reports/rwservlet/getjobid'|| vjob_id||
    '?server=rep_mohahubkpcomp_ORaHOme_IAS'||'&userid=
    bedman/bedman@bedman'||'&paramform=yes','_blank');
    displays the report to which vjob_id refers. At this point the report is competed so the parameters userid and paramform are useless.
    Hope this helps.

  • Dynamic lovs in parameter forms ... Is this possible?

    Hi
    I am using report developer 10g on windows xp.
    I need a cascading prompt style dynamic LOVs in my report parameter form.
    The first LOV displays a set of values (say for eg. dept list). The second LOV will display another list, based on the value chosen by the user in the first LOV (Eg. List of employee names in that dept).
    My first LOV select statement may look like below for the user parameter say P_DEPT
    select deptno from dept;
    My sencod LOV select stmnt may look like below for the user parameter P_EMP
    select ename from emp where deptno = :P_DEPT
    Each time I try to set the second LOV, report developer complains "Bind variables not allowed in select statement"
    Same error msg comes if I reference the first user parameter(P_DEPT) as a lexical parmaeter.
    How do I acheive the above in report parameter form? Any help is appreciated greatly...
    Thanks

    Hi Brad,
    Thanks for the reply. I had almost given up hope on receiving replies to this message.
    I do agree that it is simpler (and a lot striaght forward) to just use forms to develop dynamic LOVs of cascading prompt style, that is required in my app. But in our shop, we have integrated forms and reports in such a way, that all the report parameters are handled by report developer's own parameter form, rather than coding a separate logic on the forms side to handle the report parameters(as this has to be done on the forms side for every report that we generate, We thought it would be better to use the reports developer to handle the parameter input and then pass the .rdf to forms app). Currently in all our app, the parameter form generated by the report developer is rendered as HTML form on the browser (when the concerned rdf file is called within the forms app) and by submitting this we get the report output)
    Hence I am very keen to get this done somehow on the report developer side.
    I do hope I get some input on this. Also, its a little surprising that such a simple feature is not readily avalibale in the report parameter form. I hope oracle report developer team is reading this message...:)
    Thanks

  • Can you dynamically change an LOV on the parameter form based on other params?

    Can you dynamically change an LOV on the parameter form based on other parameters? For example, based on a entered purchase order number, create an LOV of the purchase order lines that belong to the entered PO #.

    Hi
    Accouding to my knoledge you can't do it.
    If you want to build lov for that particular
    value, you can do it in Forms.

  • How to use a LOV object in apex with the parameter?

    Hi,
    I would like to create a LOV object with a query:
    SELECT ID, NAME
    FROM TABLE
    WHERE
    REF= APEX_FORM_VARIABLE
    This is for an Apex report page and each row provides the Apex form variable.

    What is your question then?
    Just create a dynamic LOV with that as your query. Use the bind variable notation for the apex item.

  • Second LOV based on First LOV in Oracle APEX tabular Form

    Hi,
    I had created a tabular form in which I am having two LOV's. This form is based on a query.
    I had created a javascript function which internally calls AJAX and populates the second LOV based on the value selected in first LOV when onchange.
    But the issue is, when the user recalls this APEX page to view the details or edit the details, the second LOV shows all the values instead of showing only the values related to first LOV.
    In the second LOV query I am trying to write the below query.
    select function_name fn
    ,function_code_id fci
    from catering_function_codes
    where function_type_id = NVL(#FUNCTION_TYPE_ID#,function_type_id)
    order by to_number(function_code_id)
    in which #FUNCTION_TYPE_ID# is the value of first LOV. But I am getting the below error.
    report error:
    ORA-20001: Error fetching column value: ORA-06550: line 1, column 187:
    PL/SQL: ORA-00911: invalid character
    ORA-06550: line 1, column 7:
    PL/SQL: SQL Statement ignored
    How can you refer to the Second LOV the value of First LOV in a report based tabular form?
    Kindly let me know if you do not understand the issue.
    Please help me in this issue.
    Thank you

    Hi Roel,
    Thank you for the quick reply.
    I used the query as given by you. This time it is not giving any error but showing all the values in the second LOV irrespective of what ever value is present in the first LOV
    This is an apex tabular form which is generated by apex based on a query. The controls will be dynamically generated by APEX for each row. How can we hard code the control name to :P99_FUNCTION_TYPE_ID?
    Please help me in this issue. Thank you

  • Null values not displaying in the LOV on the parameter form.

    My report works perfect while in Oracle Reports 10g, however when I move it to our menu (Oracle Forms 10g) it does not display the null in the LOV on the parameter form.
    This report allows the the user to select by inspector or district or everyone for certain dates.
    Ex: I have 4 parameter fields. The user must enter the start & end dates and either the Inspector or the district or leave the inspector or district null to run for everyone.
    The district LOV is :
    select dnr_section_code, description from dnr_section_code where dnr_section_code in ('29', '38','52')
    UNION
    select null, 'All' from dual
    order by 2 asc ;
    The inspector LOV is:
    select null , 'All' from dual
    UNION
    select person_seq, first_name||' '||last_name inspector from vw_eng_inspectors
    order by 2 asc
    In my Data Model query I use the :
    My select
    from tables
    where clause
    +
    ----by inspector
    and (prod_fac_inspections.person_seq_inspector =
    nvl(:inspector,prod_fac_inspections.person_seq_inspector))
    ---by district
    and
    (d.dnr_section_code = nvl(:district,d.dnr_section_code)
    and d.person_seq = prod_fac_inspections.person_seq_inspector)
    Again, it works perfect in Reports! It eliminates having 3 reports on the menu. This one report gives the user the option of selecting dynamic parameters.
    Also, I got so frustrated, that I went a different route of using a default where.
    I am stuck with the error of ORA:00933 SQL command not ended properly
    1=1
    I set the initial value to 1=1 and it does not like it.
    I am stuck!

  • Return multiple values from dynamic lov in apex 3.2.1

    Hi
    I need to create a dynamic lov that displays multiple values from a table and RETURNS multiple values into display only fields in a form page to be saved to the database
    For example
    dynamic list of value name SERVER
    select name || ',' || life_cycle d, name r
    from sserver
    order by 1
    This SERVER LOV is attached to the P4_SSERVER_NAME field in the form.
    However this only returns sserver. name into the P4_SSERVER_NAME field in the form. I would need to capture the life_cycle field as well and populate the P4_LIFE_CYCLE field in the form as well. How does one do this?
    I have searched this forum however could not find a thread that fit my situation. i saw that in 4.2 there is dynamic action however unable to upgrade at this moment.
    any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
    thank you

    Hi CRL,
    One method is to set the value of your P4_LIFE_CYCLE item via APEX_UTIL.set_session_state
    To do this you need to create a Page Process
    Type PL/SQL anonymous block
    Process Point On Load - Before Header
    The source for the Process might look like this: DECLARE
       l_life_cycle   VARCHAR2 (50);
    BEGIN
       SELECT life_cycle
         INTO l_life_cycle
         FROM sserver
        WHERE :p4_sserver_name = sserver.name;
       APEX_UTIL.set_session_state ('P4_LIFE_CYCLE', l_life_cycle);
    END;Jeff

  • Dynamic LOV in a Tabular Form

    Can somebody please tell me if there is a easy way to code a
    dynamic LOV in a Tabular Form?
    I need the ability to access a column value in the table row, to use in the WHERE clause of LOV query for another column in the row? Seems
    like that should be easy , but not finding an answer.
    Thanks for any help.
    Carol

    Hi Carol,
    You can add the select list's definition directly into your SQL statement using APEX_ITEM.SELECT_LIST_FROM_QUERY - see: [http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E10513_01/doc/apirefs.310/e12855/apex_item.htm#CHDIDGDA]
    If you first run your page with your existing select list on it, then do a View Source and look for the select list, you will see a "name" attribute of something like "f01" or "f02" etc. Make a note of the number part of this.
    Then update your SQL statement to include the above and using the number you noted as the Index value (say, 4):
    SELECT EMPNO,
    ENAME,
    DEPTNO,
    APEX_ITEM.SELECT_LIST_FROM_QUERY(4,MGR,'SELECT ENAME d, EMPNO r FROM EMP WHERE DEPTNO = ' || DEPTNO || ' AND EMPNO <> ' || EMPNO) MGR
    FROM EMPThat would give you a select list of employees in the same department as the current employee (excluding that employee themself)

  • b Simple Parameter Form & Page Parameter /b

    Hello,
    <br>
    i have a problem with a simple Parameter Form:
    I have one page; on this page i have a simple Parameter Form and an OmniPortlet (the pageParameter is 'Field1' and is mapped to both portlets!)
    <br>
    now my problem: when i type my parameter in the simple param form it is displayed in the url (http://mypage<b>&Field1=10000</b>).<br> the omniportlet displays the right data. all right so far!
    <br>
    but now i type a new parameter in the simple parameter form and now the url looks like this: http://mypage&Field1=10000<b>&Field1=20000</b><br>The parameter shouldn't be added to the old url, but a new url should be created with <i>one</i> new parameter.
    <br>
    Where is the problem? i cant find any solution?
    <br>
    Thanks for your help!

    Hi,
    There is a step you are missing.
    Open the page properties for the page where the Simple Parameter form and the Omniportlet resides.
    Go to the Events Tab.
    Here you will see "Portlet Events". There will be a list of portlets that are added on this page. Click on the "Simple Parameter Form".
    Under this you will find a link called "Submit". When you click on this link, it opens options on the right hand side of the page.
    Here, under the heading "When this event is raised:" Click the Radio Button "Go to page:" and then click on the button for the LOV on the right side of the box, a pop-up opens, select this page itself. (For Example, if the name of the page is PAGE01 (where we have added this Simple Parameter Form and the OmniPortlet), under the Page Group PG01, then click on the link called Return Object for PAGE01 under PG01 from the pop-up).
    After doing the above step do this:
    Right Below this, you will find another heading called "Page Input" which will have the list of page parameters. From the first drop down list select "Event Output" and from the second drop down list select "Parameter 1" (If there is only one parameter. But if you have more than one parameter, select the "Event Output" & "Parameter 2" respectively, and so on). Make sure that you match the correct page parameter with the Parameter drop down otherwise your results will vastly vary or there might be no result.
    We are pretty much done.
    Now just click on the buttons "Apply" then "Ok"
    Test your page. It will not add &Field1=<value>&Field1=<value>...... any number of times you run this.
    I hope I was of some help to you.
    Regards,
    Saabir.

  • Tabluar Form + Dynamic LOV

    Hi expert,
    I defined Popup LOV (query based LOV) for a column on Tabular Form Element in Column Attributes, and the following error occurs when accessing to the page.
    Error in init lov: ORA-06561: given statement is not supported by package DBMS_SQL p_lov:wwv_flow_security.g_security_group_id:987715809494418wwv_flow_security.g_curr_flow_security_group_id:987715809494418 Unable to initialize query.
    I am not sure if Popup LOV does not work on the type of Tabular form. Does anyone have any idea to resolve this?

    Scott,
    Thank you for the offer. For some reason, it was working on apex. I will try to find the difference on my settings.

  • Parameter form using LOV based on SQL  to pass param to Discoverer portlet

    Hi all
    I have a design issue:-
    I want to create a parameter form in Oracle Portal to allow users to select the department using searchable LOV (like the torch that is there in various oracle products) and pass the selected parameter to the Oracle Discoverer worksheet portlet. The LOV values is required to come from a SQL query which in turn is dependent on User_name varia ble from the session.
    I am looking for any out of the box portlet which can be configured to achieve the same. Any help or pointers in this regard would be greatly appreciated.

  • How can I change LOV Font in a parameter form?

    Dear friends
    I made a report with reports 6i and in it's parameter form I placed an LOV based on a query and I want to change it's font, but it doesn't change anyway. I think it's default font is System.
    The problem is getting more serious when I use arabic windows, because it shows arabic characters as english extended characters and make the LOV unreadable. I would be so glad if someone could help me.
    Thanx.

    Hi,
    I think changing the font in the Paramater form for the LOV is not possible. Long back there was
    an enhancement request filed for this , i don't think that is implemented yet.
    Prabably you have to have as a workaround is make a pramform out of Oracle Forms.

    When you add your new field into the parameter mask, please check, if the value is too
    long for your parameter mask site. Make a double click on the master attributes of your
    report in the object navigator and look at the size of the parameter mask window.
    Make it bigger, if you want (vertically und horizontally size).
    Check the length of the text of your parameter mask title, too.
