Dynamic output file name for scheduling a BIP report

Hi All,
I have a BI Publisher report. It has Department as prompt. we need to run the report for each department. I need to schedule the report such that, for each department i need to FTP the output with file name as department_INFO.pdf in the one folder (i.e. if dept is ABC, then i need to store the output with file name as ABC_INFO.pdf and ftp to the folder). Folder will be created already in the server.
We have around 40 departments, so i need to manually schedule this report 40 times with 40 files names and ftp the output to the folder in the server.
Can we dynamacally give the output file name based on the prompt we are using to run, instead of manually scheduling for each department.
Please help me ASAP..we cant move further due to this problem.

As many of the threads had the same query about how to pass dynamic filename while scheduling a report using ftp option.
My requirement is to append the 'ID' which is the identifier of the report with the template name in the Remote Filename section.
Eg. if ID is 1-34RT5 and the filename should be 1-34RT5_abc.pdf

Dynamically generating file names for 2 File ( 1: 2 mapping transformation)

I have a scenario Proxy to File(FCC) with 1:2 transformation in message mapping ie 1 sender and 2 receiver interface ....
1 Message mapping
1 Operation mapping
1 RD , 1 ID and 2 file receiver channels and 2 receiver agreements.
I need to dynamically generate the filename say abc.(first 9 characters of mesg id) and xyz.(first 9 characters of mesg id)
I used dynamic configurations with ASMA settings, created 2 UDF assigned each of these to header node of r receiver message types.
Here, I guess the second dynamic configuration is over writing the first dynamic configuration and hence creating only one file with xyz.(first 9 characters of mesg id)

As dynamic configuration doesnot work in case of 1:n mapping what you need to do is
Create a field Filename in your source data structure
Create a1:1 mapping between your source structure and source structure
In that 1:1 mapping on the target structure assign UDF for file name
Now this target structure will be used as a source structure in your next 1:2 mapping
Under operation mapping add first the 1:1 mapping for source and then the multimapping

How to get Log and Output File Names for a concurrent request

I am submitting a concurrent frm OAF with the following code in AM

How do i get the handle to log and output files for the abvoe concurrent request ?
One more thing is there a way where we can evaluate the environment variables
like in the above example once i get a the request id

and
outputfile=$APPLCSF/$APPLOUT/"o"+requestID+".out"
is there a way i can get the values of $APPLCSF and $APPLOUT from the os ?

You can query the Fnd_Concurrent_Requests table using Request_ID, which has the log & out file directory details.

Creating dynamical flat file name in mapping?

Hi.
I know about the variations on how to use an input parameter and/or sysdate to create a dynamic output file name in a mapping.
My challenge is nearly the same, but I cannot make OWB generate the correct code.
Problem:
- got a one column table that holds an identifier in a string field
- got a function that reads and returns said identifier
- imported function into OWB
- trying to use the function call in the Flat File Operator's Target Data File Name, e.g. fixedfilename||fn_get_id()||sysdate||'.ext
OWB creates the code:
UTL_FILE.FOPEN(
'my_location',
'fixedfilename'||fn_get_id()||'_'||SYSDATE||'.ext',
'w',
32767
However, when compiling the package code, it returns the warning:
ORA-06550: PACKAGE BODY, line 2214, column 29: PLS-00201: identifier 'FN_GET_ID' must be declared
which results in an error when trying to execute the mapping.
I've tried substituting the function call in the FOPEN call:
myId := fn_get_id();
UTL_FILE.FOPEN(
'my_location',
'fixedfilename'||myId||'_'||SYSDATE||'.ext',
'w',
32767
and this works fine, the mapping creates a file with the desired filename. But obviously not a good solution rewriting the generated code all the time....
Anyone solved something similar?
Could I use an input parameter and the autogenerated function GET_<PARAMETER>?
But can I set the value of an input parameter inside the very same mapping?

I managed to get it working :-)
Added an input parameter to the mapping, and gave the outgroup variable a default value by calling my imported function.
Then concatenated the implicitly generated function (GET_PARAMETER) in the Target Data flat file name.
I now have a target file name that changes according to a departement id stored in a parameter table.

Unique Render File Name For Clips?

How do I create a unique output file name for each clip in my timeline that is edited?
Example:
REEL_123.MOV appears 3 times on my timeline at different edit points. I need the output to be REEL_123_1.MOV REEL_123_2.MOV etc. etc. Or something similar.
I tried Src.FileName + General.RenderStartTime12hrs thinking that would give me a unique output name but it doesn't. Well, it kinda does, but if the clips are too close together on the timeline it looks like they all get created the same time resulting in a non-unique filename.
Any suggestions?

Add General.EditNumberPadded.4 (from the Common catagory) as the first or the last string to your output name.

Dynamic report output file name

Hi,
I am generating a report using web interface by sending http string with required parameters.
Each time I run this report I am appending current date & time (mmddyyhhmm) string to the output file name.
Successfully I am able to get the outputs.
For example:
If report runs at 9:30am then MyReportOutput_0205040930.html
If report runs at 12:45pm then MyReportOutput_0205041245.html
But, I am facing the problem when I schedule the report. I want to append the report run date & time to the output file for scheduled runs.
Is it possible?
Please advise.

hi,
for that you will have to use reports distribution. in the distribution XML file you can specify data fields from the report for various attributes, including the output file name.
you will have to create a column in your datamodel that creates this timestamp and then add it to your report name.

Hi,
you have to enable the adapter specific parameter --> file name in both the sender and the receiver CC to get the input file name as output file name.

How to programmatically disable prompts for output file names in Acrobat X

My code to programmatically disable output file names (below) is not working on a Windows 7 64-bit machine using Acrobat Distiller X. It works perfectly on a Windows XP machine with Acrobat Distiller 8.
The latest API Reference I was able to find is dated June 2008. My logic follows this convention.
I have confirmed that the registry key is updated as specified below. I have also confirmed that I am able to write to the directory indicated.
Please provide any suggestions to resolve.

I remember seeing that the problem is thunking. A little more specifically, because it's a 32-bit driver but a 64-bit executable, there's a 32-bit system spooler process which will always show up as the EXE name.

I presume you are trying to build Oracle BDB and not bsd as you have mentioned.
Yes, the error message you are getting is for not having the CC compiler in your system or the path isn't set. Check in the /usr/vac/bin directory if you have one in your system. You might find both xlc and cc compiler there. Set this directory to your path so that 'configure' can see it.

The Output file name could be used from the field value of payload. For this you need to use the UDF DynamicFile name with below code,

Dynamic Logo file names in PO XSL-FO stylesheet

We have different company logo files for different operating units. Hence , we require to use a dynamic logo file name in XSL-FO template.
When I use the below for a single file it works.

But I couldn't test the new template as I was neither able to create a new PO nor was able to run the PO Output for communication Report. When I tried to create a PO the Purchase Order form did not open saying I am not setup as an employee, even the PO Output for communication did not give any LOV for the PO's.
I tried to define employee name in the employee's login
information (System administrator/Security/User/Define) for my user, but some how my name doesn't appear in LOV. Any help is appreciated.

I have a file to file scenario where mapping is not used. My Input file name is "XXXX.txt" and i want the output file name as "XXXX.dat". But the problem is XXXX is not a constant value but a dynamic value and i cant use a UDF because there is no mapping for this interface. Is there any other method by which this can be achived?

Hi!
For your input file you can work as follows:
Put the file in a special directory and then read this directory using wildcard filename definition:
e.g. *.txt looks for and processes all files ending with *.txt
For your output file (receiver file adapter) you may work with os command "rename" and/or try it using this stuff:

Controling Bursting Output File Name

Is there a RTF template parameter I can set that will set the file name? It generates cryptic names for us (usually xmlp some numbers followed by .pdf) for the attachments it emails.
Some people have said you can control it with a bursting control file but I have yet to figure out how to setup this file or where to load it as there is no spot for it in the web UI.

There is nothing in the bursting control query to control the output file name when bursting as an email attachment. Were running BIP Enterprise 10.1.3.3.1 on an 10g Application Server backed up by SSO authentication. I have looked through the RTF template documentation and I ahve yet to find a tag to specify. Also, no where in the interface is there any option to load a Bursting Control File or edit the properties contained within whatever is used by default.
