Dynamic "search" query

Hi there, I'm tring to build a dynamic query to search not only the exatly phrase typed by the user but even the single words. So far, I've got how to make the preparedStatement but I'm still stuck in how to make the exactly number of psmt.setString necessary to the preparedStatement. Belowe the code. Thanks in advance for your help.
String query = "";
int i = 0;
for(i = 0; i < java.lang.reflect.Array.getLength(arrayWords); i++){
String tmp = arrayWords;
query = query +" OR title LIKE ? OR content LIKE ?";
connection = DriverManager.getConnection(DB_properties.getDB_url(),DB_properties.getDB_username(),DB_properties.getDB_password());
pstmt = connection.prepareStatement("SELECT * FROM search_content WHERE title LIKE ? OR content LIKE ?"+query+";");
pstmt.setString(1,words);
pstmt.setString(2,words);
//for(){}
rs = pstmt.executeQuery();

for every ? in your preparedQuery, you need a preparedQuery.set...
why do you use reflection to get the length of an array? why not use:
int[] ar = {1,2,3,4};
System.out.println(ar.length);you might want to consider using "... WHERE title IN (title1, title2, ..) OR content IN (content1, content2,...)"
now unfortunatly jdbc seems to be not properly specified with the #setArray, oracle uses it in above mentioned context(e.g. "... WHERE title IN ?" and you set a string-array) mysql doesn't.(you would need something like "...WHERE title IN (?,?,?,?,?)"
but in either of this case, or yours, its usually better to create a prepared query once, and than just insert the values with each fetch. just use enough ?'s and set the not-needed ones to NULL. it will still be more efficient than creating a query everytime.

  • Generating dynamic search query for search formular

    Hallo guys,
    a theoretical question I have there for you.
    I have a search form in HTML with several input fields, so the user can search for particular features in a db.
    My queiston: How can I generate a dynamic query, depending on which fields the user had filled in?
    It should look like this:
    > look at the input fields:
    > if request.getParameter("art) !=null : Query "+" age
    > if request.getParameter("experience") !=0 : Query "+" experience
    > if request.getParameter("instrument") != null : Query "+" instrument
    > .... and so on
    final query = SELECT art, experience,instrument FROM x, y, z WHERE x.art = art AND y.experience > experience AND z.instrument LIKE '%instrumen%' ;I hope I have explained it somehow understandable.
    Any help is deeply appreciated! Thank you in advance...

  • Pass dynamic values to search-query in wlp-syndication-config for RSS

    Hi All,
    I want to pass dynamic values to the <search-query> element for the <syndication-feed> node in the wlp-syndication-config.xml file for implementing RSS feeds.
    Here's a sample
    <syndication-feed>
              <name>RSSFeed</name>
              <search-query>cm_objectClassInstance=='Node' &amp;&amp; date == 'x'_</search-query>
              <search-type>pubmeta</search-type>
         </syndication-feed>
    I tried passing the parameter in the url but the feed doesn't read it. The only option i have is to manually put the value to get the content from the repository, which sucks...because the values can change any time. is there any way that I can avoid it
    Any help on this would be appreciated.
    Thanks,

  • Setting Column Names in Dynamic Pivot Query

    Hi all,
    I'm having trouble setting column names in a dynamic pivot query and was wondering if someone could please help me figure out what I need to do.
    To help you help me, I've setup an example scenario in my hosted account. Here's the login info for my hosted site at [http://apex.oracle.com]
    Workspace: MYHOSTACCT
    Username : DEVUSER1
    Password : MYDEVACCTAnd, here is my test application info:
    ID     : 42804
    Name   : dynamic query test
    Page   : 1
    Table 1: PROJECT_LIST         (Alias = PL...  Listing of Projects)
    Table 2: FISCAL_YEAR          (Alias = FY...  Lookup table for Fiscal Years)
    Table 3: PROJECT_FY           (Alias = PF...  Intersection table containing project fiscal years)
    Table 4: PROJECT_FY_HEADCOUNT (Alias = PFH... Intersection table containing headcount per project and fiscal year)Please forgive the excessive normalization for this example, as I wanted to keep the table structure similar to my real application, which has much more going on.
    In my sample, I have the "Select Criteria" region, where the user specifies the project and fiscal year range that he or she would like to report. Click the Search button, and the report returns the project headcount in a pivoted fashion for the fiscal year range specified.
    I've got it working using a hard-coded query, which is displayed in the "Hardcoded Query" region. In this query, I basically return all years, and set conditions on each column which determines whether that column should be displayed or not based on the range selected by the user. While this works, it is not ideal, as there could be many more fiscal years to account for, and this is not very dynamic at all. Anytime a fiscal year is added to the FISCAL_YEAR table, I'd have to update this page.
    So, after reading all of the OTN SQL pivot forums and "Ask Tom" pivot thread, I've been able to create a second region labeled "Dynamic Query" in which I've created a dynamic query to return the same results. This is a much more savvy solution and works great; however, the column names are generic in the report.
    I had to set the query to parse at runtime since the column selection list is dynamic, which violates SQL rules. Can anyone please help me figure out how I can specify my column names in the dynamic query region to get the same column values I'm getting in the hardcoded region?
    Please let me know if you need anymore information, and many thanks in advance!
    Mark

    Hi Tony,
    Thanks so much for your response. I've had to study up on the dbms_sql package to understand your function... first time I've used it. I've fed my dynamic query to your function and see that it returns a colon delimited list of the column names; however, I think I need a little more schooling on how and where exactly to apply the function to actually set the column names in APEX.
    From my test app, here is the code for my dynamic query. I've got it in a "PL/SQL function body returning sql query" region:
    DECLARE
      v_query      VARCHAR2(4000);
      v_as         VARCHAR2(4);
      v_range_from NUMBER;
      v_range_to   NUMBER;
    BEGIN
      v_range_from := :P1_FY_FROM;
      v_range_to   := :P1_FY_TO;
      v_query      := 'SELECT ';
      -- build the dynamic column selections by looping through the fiscal year range.
      -- v_as is meant to specify the column name as (FY10, FY11, etc.), but it's not working.
      FOR i IN v_range_from.. v_range_to  LOOP
        v_as    := 'FY' || SUBSTR(i, 3, 4);
        v_query := v_query || 'MAX(DECODE(FY_NB,' || i || ',PFH_HEADCOUNT,0)) '
          || v_as || ',';
      END LOOP;
      -- add the rest of the query to the dynamic column selection
      v_query := rtrim(v_query,',') || ' FROM ('
        || 'SELECT FY_NB, PFH_HEADCOUNT FROM ('
        || 'SELECT FY_ID, FY_NB FROM FISCAL_YEAR) A '
        || 'LEFT OUTER JOIN ('
        || 'SELECT FY_ID, PFH_HEADCOUNT '
        || 'FROM PROJECT_FY_HEADCOUNT '
        || 'JOIN PROJECT_FY USING (PF_ID) '
        || 'WHERE PL_ID = ' || :P1_PROJECT || ') B '
        || 'ON A.FY_ID = B.FY_ID)';
      RETURN v_query;
    END;I need to invoke GET_QUERY_COLS(v_query) somewhere to get the column names, but I'm not sure where I need to call it and how to actually set the column names after getting the returned colon-delimited list.
    Can you (or anyone else) please help me get a little further? Once again, feel free to login to my host account to see it first hand.
    Thanks again!

  • Build stored procedure from a dynamic SQL query

    I have the following method, that receives a string from a textbox and creates a dynamic select command. Since I am using a dataSet I cannot execute a dynamic SQL query by calling a method of a strongly-typed dataset (.xsd). I have been told that the best
    way to do this is to pass an array of values to the stored procedure.
    But I have no clue how to build the stored procedure.
    string[] allWords = txtSearch.Text.Split(new char[] { ' ' }, StringSplitOptions.RemoveEmptyEntries);
    string sql = "SELECT Books.ISBN, Books.Title, Books.Tag, Books.Image, Books.photoType, Publishers.Name AS publisherName FROM Books INNER JOIN Publishers ON Books.codPublisher = Publishers.codPublisher WHERE ";
    using (SqlCommand command = new SqlCommand())
    for (int i = 0; i < allWords.Length; ++i)
    if (i > 0)
    sql += "OR ";
    string paramName = "@param" + i.ToString();
    sql += string.Format("(Books.Title LIKE {0}) ", paramName);
    command.Parameters.AddWithValue(paramName, allWords[i] + "%");
    command.CommandText = sql;
    //execute the SQL query against the db...

    After hours around this, I have came with this solution.
    private SqlConnection sqlConn = new SqlConnection();
    private System.Data.DataSet dataSet = new System.Data.DataSet();
    private System.Data.DataTable dataTable;
    private System.Data.DataRow dataRow;
    private SqlCommand search(string searchParam, int searchOption)
    SqlCommand command = new SqlCommand();
    string sql;
    string[] allWords = searchParam.Split(new char[] { ' ' }, StringSplitOptions.RemoveEmptyEntries);
    if (searchOption == 1)
    sql = "SELECT Livros.ISBN, Livros.Titulo, Livros.Tema, Livros.Resumo, Livros.Imagem, Livros.fotoTipo, Editoras.Nome AS nomeEditora FROM Livros INNER JOIN Editoras ON Livros.codEditora = Editoras.codEditora WHERE ";
    else
    sql = "SELECT Livros.ISBN, Livros.Titulo, Livros.Tema, Livros.Resumo, Livros.Imagem, Livros.fotoTipo, Editoras.Nome AS nomeEditora FROM Livros INNER JOIN livrosAutores ON Livros.ISBN = livrosAutores.ISBN INNER JOIN Autores ON livrosAutores.idAutor = Autores.idAutor INNER JOIN Editoras ON Livros.codEditora = Editoras.codEditora WHERE ";
    using (command)
    for (int i = 0; i < allWords.Length; ++i)
    if (i > 0)
    sql += "OR ";
    if (searchOption == 1)
    sql += string.Format("(Livros.Titulo LIKE '%{0}%') ", allWords[i]);
    else
    sql += string.Format("(Livros.Autor LIKE '%{0}%') ", allWords[i]);
    command.CommandText = sql;
    return command;
    protected void Bind()
    sqlConn.ConnectionString = Properties.Settings.Default.BibliotecaConnectionString;
    string connectionString = sqlConn.ConnectionString.ToString();
    SqlDataAdapter sqlDataAdapter = new SqlDataAdapter(search(searchText, searchOption).CommandText, connectionString);
    sqlDataAdapter.Fill(dataSet, "livrosTitulo");
    dataTable = dataSet.Tables["livrosTitulo"];
    dataGrid.DataContext = dataTable.DefaultView;

  • How to make dynamic search items in a report?

    Hi all,
    I have two questions.
    1. How to make dynamic search (i.e without GO button) field above report to provide dynamic search by words in one field of report query?
    2. How to make similar multiply dynamic search fields on report to provide individual search by selected fields of report with refine capability (i.e any search conditions in different fields must work together as complex WHERE clause)
    Thanks in advance

    hey yuri--
    if i'm understanding your questions correctly, the easiest way to achieve the functionality you're after is to have your query criteria fields submit the page when values are entered/selected. the page should then branch back to itself using the submitted criteria in the query. because you're asking about dynamically adding in your where clause predicates, you should consider using a report region of type "SQL Query (Pl/sql Function Body Returning SQL Query)". that way you can use pl/sql to piece together your query based on the provided criteria.
    so the part of your question i'm not sure of is when your page should submit itself ("without a GO button" as you said). for your first question, it seems to be a simple matter of javascript. you want users to be able to enter search criteria into a field and have that criteria be using in the report. to facilitate that we have a few self-submitting item types such as "SelectList with Submit" and "Text Field (always submits page when Enter pressed)". for your second question, it seems that you should have a Go button for the user to indicate he's done entering in his query criteria. anyhow, that's up to you, i suppose. hopefully this response will give you the concepts you need to implement this as you'd like.
    regards,
    raj
    ps-after re-reading your post, i now realize there's a chance that you wanted users to not have to submit the page at all when filtering their result sets. if that's the case, you'd have to use javascript for that cumbersome feat. google would be a good place to go for that code.

  • Enhancing BtQact Dynamic Search

    Hi All,
    I want to know the class name for BTQAct which is triggered while getting the query result.
    Also it will be needful if the database table name I can get from where all the Business Object and corresponding Implementation class names are maintained.
    Thanks in Adv.

    Hello there.
    Let me explain how to trace the same.
    1. Lets take an example of dynamic search object in the model used in your component. BTQAct.
      Select the name of Model used in your component say ABC( Can be found in Runtime repository browser of Component in Models)
    2. Go To SPRO-> SAP Reference IMG-> CRM-> Cross Applicatiaon components-> Generic Interaction Layer->Basic Settings
    3. Select the option of Component Set definition and search for ABC here found in Step1.
    4. In this check the name of Components assigned responsible for Activities.
    5. Check in the same customizing the Component name thus picked in Step4 and then you will find three entries corresponding one component.
    Object Table   : Defines all objects in a component with their type ( eg search, root,child etc)
    Model Table: Defines relationship table --All relationships available amongst the objects of the component with the possible cardinality.
    IL class: This class will have all basic methods which gets called whenever any operation is performed on WEB UI of even on GENIL_BOL_BROWSER.
    I think this class name is the class you are looking for.
    Please reply if this helps.
    Best Regards,
    Vinamra.

  • BOL Search/Query Object for Schema Search!.

    Hi All,
    I have to do search for categorization schemas, as the first step I opened the standard schema search component ( GS_MCAT ) and found that the Dynamic Search Object responsible for the same is:   'MC_DynaQSchemaByAttributes'.
    Now, I have 2 questions 4u
    1.  If I run the BOL browser by giving the component set as 'all' I couldnt see this query!. how can I find
    this in BOL/MODEL browser
    2. Is there any standard BOL Search/Query Object on which I can perform a search on Schema based on the product assigned at the categorization level!.
    Any help/hint highly appreciated!,
    Thanks in Advance, Sudeep..

    Also solved.
    As SAP tends to confuse people with the "ALL" component set, ...
    I debugged the "CL_CRM_CATEGO_GENIL" class. Here's the component set you need to load:
        lv_core->start_up( 'ONEORDER' ).

  • Is it possible to enhance the dynamic search with Option field with custom

    Hi All,

    Just to test is this possible i wrote a sample program

    data: mv_bol_core type REF TO cl_crm_bol_core,

    MV_BOL_CORE->START_UP( 'BT' ).
    *data: lv_opp_id type string.
    lr_dquery = cl_crm_bol_dquery_service=>GET_INSTANCE( 'BTQOpp'  ).
    if lr_dquery is bound.
    *   prepare the selection paramters
      lr_dquery->add_selection_param(
        exporting
          iv_attr_name =  'OBJECT_ID'   " Component name
          iv_sign      =   'I'  " Inclusion/exclusion criterion SIGN for range tables
          iv_option    =   'PI'  " Selection operator OPTION for range tables
          iv_low       =   lv_opp_id
    *   Get the dynamic result object and read the opportunity status from there
      lr_result_obj ?= lr_dquery->get_query_result( ).
      lr_entity ?= lr_result_obj->get_first( ).
      if lr_entity is bound.
        lr_entity->get_property_as_value( exporting iv_attr_name = 'STATUS'
                                    importing ev_result = lv_status ).
      endif.
    endif.
    BREAK-POINT.
    No syntax error but junk values returned as I had not written the logic for retrieval based on this operator. This means that if you add the selection_param to the dynamic query and then handle that same thing in the GENIL class for the component then you would be able to retrieve the values based on this.
    On the UI , you would be retrieving all the operators for the parameters. There for that particular field you have to add the new operator for your case. And this would be send to the Dquery class and added as a selection param. When the query is executed, if the genil class has been updated to handle this parameter, you should be able to retrieve the results.

  • How Can I get multi column values from dynamic search help?

    Hi Gurus;
    I'm using dynamic search help in my program.
    I want to get multi column values from search help. But I dont know solution for this issue.
    I'm using F4IF_INT_TABLE_VALUE_REQUEST FM.
    How Can I get multi column values from dynamic search help?
    Thanks.

    Believe it or not, the same FM worked for me in a dynpro. I will try to explain here how it works in custom screen and then you can do your work for other screens or program types. I am not going to write my actual work but will explain in general.
    I have 4 fields (FLD1, FLD2, FLD3, FLD4) and i made the search based on FLD2 and when user click on a line (could be any field), then this would bring the line on to the screens.
    There are like 3 steps.
    You have your value_tab for my fields FLD1, FLD2, FLD3 and FLD4. This is just the data that we pass into the FM. (data: IT_VALTAB type table of ZVAL_TABLE)
    Next map the screen fields into an internal table (data: It_dynpfld type table of dselc ). I also have other internal tables defined  (just to keep it straight, i will be putting here) data:  It_return type standard table of ddshretval.
    Next step is to call the function module. Make sure you have values in IT_VALTAB.
    call function 'F4IF_INT_TABLE_VALUE_REQUEST'
    exporting
            retfield        = 'FLD2'
            value_org       = 'S'
          tables
            value_tab       = It_VALTAB
            return_tab      = It_return
            dynpfld_mapping = It_dynpfld
          exceptions
            parameter_error = 1
            no_values_found = 2
            others          = 3.
        if sy-subrc <> 0.
          message id sy-msgid type sy-msgty number sy-msgno
          with sy-msgv1 sy-msgv2 sy-msgv3 sy-msgv4.
        else.
          perform get_selected_fields tables It_return.
        endif.
    The code within the perform GET_SELECTED_FIELDS  - We need to map the result fields after user selects it. The code goes like this. This is step is to update the dynpro fields.
    I need a internal table as well as a work area here. like,
    data: lt_fields type table of dynpread,
            la_fields type dynpread.
      field-symbols: <fs_return> type ddshretval.
    so fill out LT_FIELDS from the IT_RETURN table
    loop at lt_return assigning <fs_return>.
        la_fields-fieldname = <fs_return>-retfield.
        la_fields-fieldvalue = <fs_return>-fieldval.
        append la_fields to lt_fields.
        clear: la_fields.
      endloop.
    Call the FM to update the dynpro
    call function 'DYNP_VALUES_UPDATE'
        exporting
          dyname               = sy-repid
          dynumb               = '1002' "This is my screen number. You could use 1000 for selection screen (hope so)
        tables

  • How do I use "Search Query" for nontrivial searches?

    After a few years in the community, this is my _first_ question to the boards ;-)
    In speaking with a colleague today, I learned about an NI forum feature that would be useful for me. When I tried to configure it, I then learned that I didn't know how to use it. When I tried to learn how to use it, I further learned that it wasn't fully documented. So, I'd like some clarification :-)
    The feature in question is "Search Query" which will send you an email when a forum search matches your query. What I don't know is:
    What are the rules (syntax) for search queries? For example, I would like to search for single words, all the words that I specify, as well as exact phrases. How do I differentiate between multiword queries and exact phrase queries?
    Is it possible to have more than one Search Query?
    If so, how do you delineate them? Would I use commas, a new line, something else?
    I'm asking because the available (and discoverable) documentation doesn't mention what to do when you want more than one Search Query. The help text on the subscription page [1] makes me think that only one query is possible, and says a Search Query:
    Sends you mail every time a message matching your query is submitted. Search queries take up to 15 minutes to take effect. Saving a blank query will disable this feature and will stop any mail from being sent.
    The other place I tried was the NI Forum FAQ [2], which makes me think that more than one query is possible:
    If you add a board, thread, message, or search term to your subscriptions, the system will send you an e-mail every time someone posts to the board, or replies to the message or thread. If you prefer not to receive an e-mail for your subscriptions, you can subscribe to the RSS feed of a board, thread, user, or search term.
    The FAQ goes on about what to do with board, thread, and message subscriptions, but doesn't say anything more about search subscriptions.
    The last place I looked was on the search results page itself. In the blue header that precedes the results, there's a link on the far left that says "Search Options" with a single option that says "Subscribe to this search's RSS Feed". While I could subscribe and use an RSS reader, I really would prefer email. I suppose if only one Search Query is possible, then this will be my workaround.
    As a comment, why does the Search Options menu not also have a "Subscribe to this search" option, which would add another entry in the Search Query box? This is a noticeably different interface than the Thread Options menu.

    Hi Joe,
    Thanks for all of the questions and congrats on posting your first question!
    Unfortunately I think all of your questions come from the valid assumption that the search query functionality is more robust than it actually is.  The search query functionality really only serves a single purpose and that is to email you when your phrase has been posted to the forums.  For me, I use it to email me when my name is mentioned in the forums.  It serves this purpose well since I have it set up to work off just a single search term.  However I find that multiple word phrases are combined with an OR which is not as useful.  The search query does not adhere to any common search syntax that you would expect (I believe we are the only community that uses this feature so it has not been improved upon).
    The best way to set up both multiple word queries and multiple different queries is to use the RSS feed as you mentioned.  This way you can tailor your search very specifically using different advanced search options and subscribe to them all in one feed reader without constantly getting emails.  The search query emails do not adhere to the digest subscription settings.  I find that the RSS feeds work very well for searches and I am fond of using them, but I do use an RSS Reader for many things so it is not out of my normal workflow.
    Thank you for reading the Forum FAQ.  I've done some work to improve it but I think it has a long way to go and it's good to know that people read it

  • How to club 2 queries in one formatted search query

    Hi All,
    I have inserted a formatted search in the stock transfer for chnaging the 'From warehouse' based on series.
    I have written following query for same,
    SELECT $[$18.1.0]='08' WHERE $[OWTR.series] ='46'
    It is working Fine
    I want ot use same concept for selecting other based on other warehouse
    e.g
    SELECT $[$23.5.1]='02' WHERE $[OWTR.series] ='45'
    But I am not able to club these queries on one formatted search query can anybody help to group it in one formatted search query....

    Hi Atul,
    You could define the quey like this
    SELECT
    CASE
             WHEN $[OWTR.series]='46' THEN '08'
             WHEN $[OWTR.series]='45' then '02'
    end
    from OWTR

  • How to modify search query based on new FE

    Hi,
    As per a requirement, in All Accounts search (advanced search section), I had to replace 5 checkboxes (e.g. Role1, Role2, Role3, Role4, Role5) by a single dropdown (codelist) name= "Account_Roles" containing same values (Role1, Role2, Role3, Role4, Role5). I created Customer's XBO and declared field of the codelist type, name= "Account_Roles". So, the XBO now has below 6 fields :
    Role1, Role2, Role3, Role4, Role5 (type = Indicator)
    Account_Roles                            (type = codelist)
    Existing search on All Accounts worked on the 5 checboxes and fetched those accounts for which the values matched.
    E.g.
    If in search parameters, I check Role1 & Role2, and for Account1, these values are stored as "true", then Account1 will be shown in the result list.
    Now the search UI doesn't have the checkboxes, but codelist ('Account_Roles') which can have value 'Role1'/'Role2'/'Role3'/'Role4'/'Role5' or combinations are also possible like 'Role1' OR 'Role2', etc..
    My question here is -
    Will the old search query that worked on indicator fields earlier, handle the new FE "Account_Roles" automatically ?
    If not, then will modification be required to existing search query ?
    If modification is required, what steps I need to follow to handle this new field instead of checkboxes.
    I need exact steps to modify a search query, as I tried several things in the PDI but was not able to confirm if this requirement can be implemented by modifying search query or it is not feasible from PDI perspective.
    Appreciate all your inputs.
    Thanks,
    Sachin.

    Hi,
    you can create a link between the vendor objects itself, means link 0vendor with 0ven_compc and 0ven_purorg. This should give you a list of all vendors multiplied with the comp codes multiplied with the purch. org. May be here it is possible to create another link between a attribute (eg. comp_code of 0ven_purorg with comp_code of 0ven_compc). In case it is not possible you need to add this link information somehow. Another option might be to create 2 queries. One on a infoset of 0vendor and 0ven_purorg and another one on 0vendor and 0ven_compc.
    regards
    Siggi
