Dynamic Set Variable

I am having a peculiar issue with the Set function. See the following code.
In a workflow I'm performing this code and yet it seems as though the user object is not actually ever modified.
<set name='resourcename'>
<s>server1</s>
</set>
<set name='attributename'>
<s>firstname</s>
</set>
<set name='fqname'>
<concat>
<s>user.accounts[</s>
<ref>resourcename</ref>
<s>].</s>
<ref>attributename</ref>
</concat>
</set>
<set>
<ref>fqname</ref>
<s>testvalue</s>
</set>
When I trace <ref>user.accounts[server1].firstname</ref> it returns testvalue correctly but when I check in the view it never updates the resource and does not show in the WFTrace. I'm thinking somehow that this user object is never truly updated. Anyone know of a better way to do this dynamically generated variable name?

When you check out the view are you assigning a Form?
The firstname attribute appears in the default user form and will be mapped from the global namespace. This can cause unexpected issues.
While you may not be directly using the form, if one is not assigned... it will use the default.
Create a completely empty form called myEmptyForm and add the variable Form to the checkout view with the value myEmptyForm.

  • Dynamically set Variables

    I am trying something like below with no luck. I am using APEX 4.1
    DECLARE
    l_exists INTEGER;
    i VARCHAR(50);
    BEGIN
    i := 'PAT_FIRST_NAME';
    i := :P2_ || i;
    select answer into ':P2_' || i from JSW1.CHND
    where question = 'PAT_FIRST_NAME' and HAR_ID = 811810075;
    end;
    What I am trying to do is build a cursor that I will then pass in the HAR_ID and question to. Then I will set a variable from this result, but it s not setting the variable. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

    What you are attempting simply is not possible in PL/SQL. You absolutely can not dynamically specify a variable name.
    All I can suggest is an explicit* case to set one variable or the other based on the value of QUESTION.
    CASE QUESTION
        WHEN 'PAT_FIRST_NAME' THEN
                SELECT....
                INTO :P2_PAT_FIRST_NAME
        WHEN 'PAT_LAST_NAME THEN
                SELECT....
                INTO :P2_PAT_LAST_NAME
    END-Joe

  • Dynamically set variable to pass to foreach loop and exec web service inputs

    Hi, I'm a little lost (and new) on where to begin with this. Using SSIS 2008 r2 I've been able to create a small package to connect to a currency converter web service and
    select the hardcoded supplied by a web service. However, doing it this way I would have to create multiple mini sequence containers and select the currency to and from country codes. I would like to create a user::to and user::from variable and then run a
    sql task to set the variables.
    Ie, select distinct( [to_countryCD], [from_CountryCD] ) from tbl_CountryCd
    and then run my sequence as a forloop dynamically passing the 'to' and 'from' country codes. Any idea's would really be appreciated.

    First you have to save the result of
    select distinct( [to_countryCD], [from_CountryCD] ) from tbl_CountryCd
    into object variable. This result set will be fed to For each loop container (FELC). Inside FELC, if you need to iterate through this result set, you will have either use the input parameter method of passing the values to the exec sql task (which is inside
    FELC) or build dynamic expression using SqlStatementSource property.

  • Dynamically Setting a Variable from a Connection String that has been set by a Config File

    Hi Guys
    I'm setting up a Master / Slave (Parent / Child) dtsx environment but I'm unable to work out how to dynamically set a variable in the Master dtsx from a connection string that has had its value set by a config file. I'm sure it's possible.
    Below is the what I'm hoping to achieve. I've set up everything apart from the highlighted section.
    Any ideas?

    First, what version of SQL Server are you using?
    You could switch the problem around.  You could set the value of a variable from the config file, then it is easy to use that variable as the connection string source for your connection manager.  At the same time you can use a parent variable
    configuration to map that variable to variables in your child package.

  • Spry XML data set and dynamic post variables

    Hi,
    I am trying to create an XML data set that has dynamic post
    variables.
    Everytime something is pressed on the page a variable changes
    and I then want to reload the XML data set using the new variable.
    I know I can just pull in an XML with all possible variables
    and filter client side but this would make it way too large.
    Does anyone know what I may need to do.
    I tried this:
    var myVar = 0;
    var dss = new Spry.Data.XMLDataSet (
    '../../cgi-bin/server_details.pl' , 'top' , { method: 'POST' ,
    postData: sid=ajaja21&ip=127.0.0.1&cid=' . myVar ,
    subPaths: [ "auth" , "plugins" , "plugins/plugin" ] , keepSorted:
    "true", sortOnLoad: "plugins/plugin/order", sortOrderOnLoad:
    "descending", useCache: false, loadInterval: 10000 } );
    onclick="myVar=1";
    But the script doesn't understand the post variables sent (it
    does when I remove the . myVar part and put in a static value). I
    think it isn't sending that dynamic variable with the post
    variables.
    Any ideas anyone?
    Thanks

    Well I had it working when I stripped back everything and
    just had the dss data set and a single onclick function, but now
    that I put it back together it hash foobared again.
    Here are the relevant bits of code that I've changed.
    The function to change server id:
    //function to run when changing the server id
    function changeServer ( sid ) {
    //set the url to use the current server id
    dss.setURL = ( '../../cgi-bin/server_details.pl' , { method:
    'POST' , postData:
    'sid=7gv1m3vjvagfl7h7qeefb8iodj8evhmb&ip=127.0.0.1&cid='+sid
    //force a reload of the server data
    dss.loadData();
    The inital load of the data set
    var dss = new Spry.Data.XMLDataSet (
    '../../cgi-bin/server_details.pl' , 'yams' , { method: 'POST' ,
    postData:
    'sid=7gv1m3vjvagfl7h7qeefb8iodj8evhmb&ip=127.0.0.1&cid=0' ,
    subPaths: [ "auth" , "plugins" , "plugins/plugin" ] , keepSorted:
    "true", sortOnLoad: "plugins/plugin/order", sortOrderOnLoad:
    "descending", useCache: false, loadInterval: 10000 } );
    And the part that changes the server id
    <td align="left" style="cursor:default; width:174px;"
    onclick="changeServer({dsv::servers/server/@id})">{dsv::servers/server/name}</td>
    I checked that the function is receiving the correct server
    id and I even tried hard coding the cid variable to 2 in the change
    function but it still wasn't changing on the server side.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

  • Acces dynamic configuration variable (e.g. filename) in ABAP mapping class

    Hi experts
    I am searching for a possibility to acces a dynamic configuration variable (DCV) in an ABAP mapping class. Since I could not find a solution in SDN and other sources, I hope somebody in this forum can help me.
    What I already found is the following code which can be used to set a DCV, but what I would be interested in is how to read a DCV.
    Any help is appreciated.

  • Dynamically set Tab current pages

    Here’s a quick summary of the situation I’ve got.
    Let’s say I have an application with 4 report pages. Three display some data about rows in my database. All 3 contain the column ‘Control #’ which is linked to the 4th report which displays more detailed information about that Control # object.
    When I click on the Control # link and go to the 4th report, I would like the Tabs current for the 4th report to match the Tabs current of the page I came from. In other words, if I clicked on the Control # link on page 1, I would like the 4th pages current tabs to match page 1’s current tabs. The same goes for pages 2 and 3.
    I’ve tried &(some global variable). and :(some global variable) and v(‘some global variable’) in the Tabs current pages fields but that doesn’t work.
    Is it possible to do what I’m trying to do?

    Reports 1, 2 & 3 all exist in individual two tab pages. Pages 1 & 2 would have the same parent tab and their own sub tab. Page 3 would have its own parent tab. When in those pages the appropriate tabs are 'current'. When I click on Control # on any page and go to page 4, I would like the source pages tabs to stay 'current' when displaying page 4.
    By the way, my actual application has in the neighborhood of a dozen pages which are like reports 1,2,& 3 as I described above. Rather than build a dozen identical (with the exception of current tabs) page 4's, I would rather build one page 4 and dynamically set page 4's current tab to the source page's current tab.
    It's a visual reminder to the user as to which page they were on when they clicked the Control # field.
    I also have 8 - 10 SVG charts which I have linked to reports. About 6 of them display the same report using different parameters. Again, I would like THAT report to have the same current tab as the source chart (chart clicked on to invoke the report).

  • OBIEE 10g - Can I use logical SQL to set variable?

    I am trying to set value of a session variable in the Advanced tab Prefix box of a request.
    Assigment of absolute value like this is working good:
    SET VARIABLE MYVAR=1;
    Can I set the variable using logical SQL? Something like:
    SET VARIABLE MYVAR = (SELECT table1.col1 from catname where table1.col2=1)
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    You can create a session variable or dynamic variable in the RPD and try using it in here at the Advanced Tab prefix.
    But still check yourself if you need multiple values returning in the SQL statement.
    Hope this is helpful/ useful.

    May be a rude way .. but it works.
    Add narrative view and use Java script to change the column headings based on the variables.
    <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
    var a = document.getElementById('idResultsTableParent');
    var rows= a.getElementsByTagName('tr');
    rows[1].cells[1].innerText ="@{Presentation Variable}";

  • Dynamically Setting PartnerLink Endpoint Address (HTTP) - Null Pointer

    I am trying to dynamically set a partner link address in my synchronous bpel process. I am getting a NullPointerException when assigning variable of type EndpointReference to the partner link.
    I followed the example on the BPEL forum here (which describes dynamically setting the address):
    Re: How can I change my ip adresses from a expression?
    In this case, we only need to reset the address.
    My partner link wsdl file contains this service defn:
    <service name="Service1">
    <port name="HTTPPost" binding="tns:HTTPPost">
    <http:address location="http://test"/>
    </port>
    My assign syntax is as follows:
    <copy>
    <from variable="endPointRef" query="/wsa:EndpointReference/wsa:Address"/>
    <to partnerLink="PartnerLink_1"/>
    </copy>
    I printed out my endPointRef variable here after assigning the values:

  • Dynamically set the upper limit of a numerical control

    I want to dynamically setting the upper limit of a numerical control. The maximal value that is allowed to input is calculated by the code, so that if the value input by the user exceeds the upperlimit,  a warning comes out and the input value is automaticaly reset to zero.
    I wired the calculated upper-limit to the property node of the numerical control using ''Data Range > Maximum" property, but it does not work as I expected.
    Anyone has suggestion on this? Thanks a lot.

    Can you attach your code?
    Dejun wrote:

    I cannot read your mind. What do you expect? What to you see instead?
    Overall, you are in a catch22 scenario if I understand you right. If you set the max of the control to coerce to a certain value and you enter a larger value, it will be coerced to the upper limit and the code does not see the original out-of-range value and you cannot successfully test it with a comparison operation. Maybe you can set it to "ignore" instead of "coerce" or not even set an upper limit. Simply use "in range and coerce" and reset the value under the desired conditions (e.g. via  a local variable) before handing it to the rest of the code. You could even wrap this into an xcontrol.

  • OBIEE | Using Dynamic Session Variable in Physical Layer

    Hi All,
    Any idea if we can use Dynamic Session Variables (I think they are also called Repository Variables) in our physical layer. I basically need to set the value of this variable from dashboard when a link is clicked, and then use this in my SELECT query at physical layer so that OBIEE does not pull all the data from the database tables.

    Christian,
    Thanks for the quick response, ok we have actually moved to a different solution now, we are actually using Direct Database Request because one of our reports is supposed to be accessing direct transactional system i.e. for this report we are using OBIEE as a reporting tool. We are able to do that and even create links between different reports i.e. based on prompt in Report A filter Report B, but the scenario now is that we need to set a presentation variable from Report A when a navigation link gets clicked, because so far according to our knowledge direct SQL only allows presentation variables in its WHERE clause. So, any ideas how can we set a presentation variable when a navigation link is clicked. Thanks.

  • Bizarre CFIF issue with dynamic form variables? Very strange...

    I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong here.  Here's my code.  Issue explained below.
                <cfquery name="reviewconfigloader" datasource="MOLMS">
                SELECT *
                FROM dbo.BaseModel
                WHERE dbo.BaseModel.AccountID = #molmsAccountID# AND.dbo.BaseModel.basemodelActive = 1
                </cfquery>
          <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="3">
            <cfloop query="reviewconfigloader"><cfif isdefined("form.baseconfig#reviewconfigloader.basemodelID#") AND ("form.baseconfig#reviewconfigloader.basemodelID#") NEQ "" AND ("form.baseconfig#reviewconfigloader.basemodelID#") NEQ 0><cfoutput><tr>
              <td width="40%" bgcolor="##F7F7F7" class="basemodelsub">     #form['baseconfig#reviewconfigloader.basemodelID#']#  #reviewconfigloader.basemodelName# #reviewconfigloader.basemodelSubName#</td>
              <td width="15%" bgcolor="##F7F7F7" class="basemodelsub"><div align="center">x 14 </div></td>
              <td width="15%" bgcolor="##F7F7F7" class="basemodelsub"><div align="center">$486/yr</div></td>
              <td width="15%" bgcolor="##F7F7F7" class="basemodelsub"><div align="center">$1444/yr</div></td>
              <td width="15%" bgcolor="##F7F7F7" class="basemodelsub"><div align="center">$1444/3 yr</div></td>
            </tr></cfoutput></cfif></cfloop>
          </table>
    What I'm doing here is fairly basic.I'm running a query with a number of configs in it...and then creating a loop to output them.  Ultimately, I only want the configurations that didnt have 0 submitted in the form on the previous page.  Each one of the configs in the config query has a dynamic form variable on the previous page with a quantity tied to it.  I am trying to eliminate all quantities past that aren't 0 (or not eliminate, just not show)...as you can see from the cfif statement.
    Here's where it gets weird.  You'll notice I output #form['baseconfig#reviewconfigloader.basemodelID#']#, just for testing, which shows me the quantity as it should.  I ran a test and put in a couple of 1s, 0s, 12s, 6s, etc in the form fields on the previous page.  If this thing worked, it wouldnt show anything for any of the records with their basemodelID value being submitted as 0.  Not the case.  It shows all records.  What is more hilarious is that it outputs perfectly in my test #form['baseconfig#reviewconfigloader.basemodelID#']#, showing the correct numbers entered in the previous form, the 1s, the 0s, etc, tied to each record.  But for whatever reason, the cfif code isn't catching it.
    What's even more bizarre...I replaced the cfif ("form.baseconfig#reviewconfigloader.basemodelID#") NEQ 0 with GT 12 (12 was the highest number that I put in the form) and it still showed all records.  Then I put it in as LT 12 and it showed nothing.  I decided  to take it one step further and put it in for GT 1231243242343 (random massive number), which it still showed all of the records.  So somehow, my CFIF statement thinks that  ("form.baseconfig#reviewconfigloader.basemodelID#") is a incredibly large number, although when I output it in the row below, it is the number it should be.
    I'm stumped.  Any ideas?  Thanks in advance!!

    Hey Dan...thanks....unfortunately...with the cfif testing, thats kinda what I'm
    doing because I dont have an "expected" value.  My expected value is anything a user inputs thats greater than zero, hence NEQ 0 and NEQ "". The real problem is taht what I'm outputting works and what the cfif clause is seeing is obviously very different.
    As far as your comment about looping out the variables and then setting a query equal to the value in a cfquery, remember...these are form objects and therefore nothing can be tied back to the database.  The result from the code is establishing a form variable (example.... form.basemodel1 (if 1 was the basemodelID from the database query) so it can capture whatever data the user has passed from the previous page in a text input.  So that input could have been 23, it could have been 1053.
    So really the only way to do it is create a query and loop out the variables.... and attach them to form objects (basemodel1, basemodel2, basemodel3 etc where the 1,2 and 3 are the unique ID's for those models in the database), and then look for where those form objects may have been filled in in the previous page by stating IF this form object not equal to 0 or "", output the data.
    Does that make sense?  Thanks for the help guys I'm completely stumped by this.  I've done this a million times with CFIF and I'm really struggling with why this isnt working....

  • Loading External SWF and setting variables

    Hello Everyone.
    I'm sure you are all a where of the FlashVars attribute for
    Flash embeds which holds variables for SWF's when they are
    rendered. I'm attempting to load an External SWF dynamically
    from within my own SWF and need to provide it with the values
    normally stored in the FlashVars. For the example below I
    wait until the External SWF is completely loaded using the
    onLoadInit event from moviecliploader and then i attempt to
    set the required variables that the loaded SWF needs. This works
    great in test and debug mode (ie. Test Movie and Debug Movie
    from the Control menu), but when i publish my FLA to SWF and run
    the SWF the variables will NOT get set in the loaded External SWF.
    From my readings ive people have mentioned that the player is only
    able to access Methods of an External SWF. If this is the case then
    how do they expect people to set the FlashVars of dynamically
    loaded SWFs? I investigated the loadVariables procedure as well and
    had the same results in test mode and was wasn't reliable because
    of timing issues.
    The sample source is below... if anyone has any ideas or has
    come across this issue before, I would really appreciate some
    insight.
    Thank you in advance for your time.
    var loader_mc:MovieClipLoader = new MovieClipLoader();
    var mclListener:Object = new Object();
    loader_mc.addListener(mclListener);
    mclListener.onLoadProgress = function(target_mc:MovieClip,
    numBytesLoaded:Number, numBytesTotal:Number) {
    // DO NOTHING
    mclListener.onLoadComplete = function(target_mc:MovieClip) {
    // DO NOTHING
    mclListener.onLoadInit = function(target_mc:MovieClip) {
    // WORKS IN TEST MODE NOT IN PUBLISH/SWF MODE
    target_mc._root.param1 = "value1";
    // WORKS IN TEST MODE NOT IN PUBLISH/SWF MODE
    _level0.container_mc.param1 = "value1";
    this.createEmptyMovieClip("container_mc",
    this.getNextHighestDepth());
    container_mc._lockroot = true;
    loader_mc.loadClip("somecoolflash.swf", container_mc);

    I've tried that as well and it behaves the same as onLoadInit
    ... Works when i test but doesnt when i publish to a swf. I think
    this is security related and the flash player just cant write to a
    loaded swf and set variables.
