Dynamic texts inserted in SO10
Hi
Using SO10 I can create texts to be sent with a dynamic action. I can insert info type information for an employee like &P0001-BUKRS& to get the company code inserted in the text.
This is all fine, but I would rather have the company name behind the code, which requires a look up in table T001-BUTXT.
How can I make the connection between BUKRS and BUTXT to get the name displayed?

So I have another suggestion for you:
use a routine (F command in the Dynamic Actions),
by which you update a field in RP50D structure.
In SO10 you specify that field.

Dynamic text shifts when style changes
I have some dynamic text fields that are set up so that when
you rollover them (actually a button behind them), their formatting
changes. This is done with some basic actionscripting, setting up 2
different text format variables and attaching one or the other to
the text field when a button is rolled over. The only thing that
changes is color. When the text first appears all is well. But when
you rollover the text and the color changes, on certain browsers an
extra space can get inserted at the beginning of a new line, sort
of like the old bug where text wrapping messes up and moves a space
down to the beginning of a line. This happens on IE 6 and 7 and
Safari, not Firefox. The player is 9. THanks.Did not, I was happier with the browser's display than with
the embedded font version. May try it just to see if problem
remains. Seems like something I should be able to avoid without
having to embed though. -
I've created a dynamic text field where I've insert into a lot of HTML code.
Since it's too much long I've used a default scrollbar and simply dropped it onto the field so that It's linked to that.
When I try it the bar is there but I can just see the upper arrow and the bottom one; the middle part isn't visible and I can't scroll down the HTML content.
Any idea?It's possible it will work in AS3 since I just tried it 1) didn't kick up an error, and 2) worked (using your code, so I don't know what your problem really is).
That's the trouble with having languages that allow similar things to be coded differently... it can sometimes be hard to tell. It's bad enough there are usually numerous ways to approach a design.
If I were setting an autoSize I would be using (based on the help docs)...

lu.welcome[langIdx];".
chech if you have mistype the instance names of your
movieClip and rewrite it or in the Actions panel select the path "
mainClip.newspaper_mc.newinstructions" and click the button
"Insert Target Path" this will open a popup with a tree of your
MC's on the stage, so you can browse and find the textfield. i hope

How to use an dynamic text from Flash in FlashBuilder with swf ?

i'm trying to develop a game in flex builder and i got a problem with the dymanic text i've imported from flash. I want to insert a scoreboard in my application and for doing that i should use dynamic text in flash. I create a dynamic text in flash and then a import it to Flash Builder in a movie clip, and i called the dynamic text "Score". Now i've tried to use the "Score" variable to change the value of the dynamic text box un my flash builder application, but it doesn't change anything.
I read somewhere that i've got to use the score.text value to change the number of my score but that doesn't works because Flash Builder tells me that this sort of variable don't contain the .text value.

I did not know creating a new keyframe,
creates a new instance.
Yes, I had used the same dynamic text field instance name in
numerous, new layers (great observation).
With the objective to display the User's name throughout
the timeline (on and off)...
I'll attempt to paraphrase your solution;
Use a single layer to display the dynamic text field.
Extend this layer's timeline throughout the movie, or end use of the dynamic text field.
Help with this one ??
Set the visible properties to true or false as need through out the timeline.
( Does require an AS3 ? )

Side of effect of using the above solution;
The SWF in it's attempted state, uses the dynamic text field instance, in
different places, different text sizes, on the stage, throughout the Movie.
(i.e. the User's first name appears in different sentences...)
Per the solution above,
I believe I will be limited to One location, one format setting.
Is this assumption correct?
I can make this work from a display / Movie point of view.
However, your first VAR concept, noted above, might be
worth exploring should more flexibility be required.

I am using Dreamweaver MX and ASP.Net to create a data driven
website. I have created a database connection and set-up a dataset
with the relevant query, which returns a table of information. I
now want to simply insert some dynamic text that references
specific data items on different rows.
By inserting Dynamic Text through Dreamweaver I can only seem
to return the information in row 1 of a specific column (i.e. the
first data item). How do I specify which row the data should be
taken from? The code I have at the moment for inserting the dynamic
text is shown below:

This returns the first item in the CampaignName column of the

really understand why, though.
I had a 'stop' in frame 2 of my actions layer. so, when i ran
what I started out with, with 'stop' in frame 2, when the playhead

Increasing/decreasing a var using dynamic text

Now while I am not a complete newbie I am far from an expert in this, so instead of using terms I hardly understand myself I'll just give a rough outline of what I need for this project to work
I am currently working on a turn-based point-and-click strategy game in flash. Now like most strategy games gathering resources is important, and in this game there are currently four resource bases, a forest, a gold mine, a lake and a stone mine.
What I need is for the player to be able to click on, for example, the forest, in which case a dynamic text will become visible. Now I need the player to be able to insert an ammount of soldiers. That ammount will be sent to claim the resources of the base. So basically I need the ammount that is typed in the dynamic text to be retracted from the "soldiers" var and added to the var representing the soldiers in the forest.
Any help on how to achieve this would be appreciated

HTML links won't display in Dynamic Text Field
I am loading external text files in dynamic text fields on my
webage. These texts contain html links (<a href="page.html"
target="_blank">Click Here</a> and I have "render as HTML"
on and "selectable" off in my dynamic text field. Also, I am
loading a CSS file. Not only do I not have a hand cursor, but I do
not even have any of the text from that piece of html code down.
What is going on with this? Please respond asap, as I have been
struggling with this for a day now. Here is the Actionscript for
loading the CSS:

Even if you rendered the textfield as HTML, you still need to
tell flash that the variable you are inserting is HTML. Therefore
you need to use the htmlText property.

How to load dynamic text inside a movie clip?
hello all - i have a main stage where on the first frame my
"home" movie clip displays. i did this by dragging/dropping, and
then i put a stop action. all works fine.
inside this home movie clip on the main stage, there are
links to other movie clips. for example, to get to my faq's page -
you click that button, then it takes you to frame 4 on my main
stage, where my faq's movie clip (followed by stop action) has been
dragged/dropped and displays properly.
within the faq's movie clip this process is repeated, with
buttons taking to you various pages (different frames where
different movie clips play - all works fine).
so now i want to add a dynamic text field within my faq's
movie clip. i have read numerous tutorials where i have created the
text file but i have not been able to display it with success
within my faqs movie clip.
here is some code that my dvd tutorial instructs me to place
on main stage as i practice getting this to work:

1. fyi - at frame 4 on main timeline, one layer beneath the
actions layer where i dragged/dropped my faqs movie clip i gave my
faqs movie clip an instance name of "mainfaqs" - although nowhere
do i refer to this specific mc within my code.
2. where would i replace/insert the following code?

3. i didn't know about embedding font but i saw the option
and embedded it - still no results.

To see if your getting a return from the load call adn text
file, use a trace statment before the success condition and see
what it returns:
trace(myLV);

Please Help -- Dynamic Text Wont Load :-(
Hi Gang,
I've just written a quick mail form in Flash8Pro/PHP - the
user enters their contact details & a message, and it sends it
off to the specified email address.
The feature works fine for the most part, but there's one
little problem. The dynamic text field that confirms the message
has been sent successfully isn't working properly. I'm using the
following php code to send dynamic text back to the flash document
saying the message has gone through OK:
print "sendresult=Message Sent!";
where sendresult is the name of the dynamic text field's
variable.
The strange thing is that the code works fine if the
sendresult dynamic text field is inserted into the main flash
document. It's only when I put the sendresult field into the movie
clip that holds the flash mail form (including the button with the
loadvariablesnum command), that the text won't update at all. I've
tried:
print "_root.enquirypage.sendresult=Data Sent!"
and
print "enquirypage.sendresult=Data Sent!", but neither of
those make any difference.
Any suggestions? Anybody know what's causing this problem?
Any help would be very very appreciated - I know I could probably
get around this by just setting the visibility of the dynamic text
field on & off when necessary and keeping it in the main flash
doc, but I'll be using this feature quite a lot and I'd really like
a proper/versatile solution. In case it's necessary, the
actionscript that sends the message off to the php is just:
loadVariablesNum ("form.php", 0, "POST");

- JayYour code loadVariablesNum ("form.php", 0, "POST"); will load
your variable sendresult in level 0 - the main timeline. If you put
the text field inside a movie clip it expects a local variable in
that movie clip.
Use _level0.sendresult or _root.sendresult as the dynamic
field's variable.
Or, instead of loadVariablesNum you could use loadVariables,
like this:
_root.enquirypage.loadVariables("form.php", "POST");
or, if you make the call from a button inside the movie clip:
this.loadVariables("form.php", "POST");

For displaying standard texts in Smartforms, I am using text type :Dynamic Include.
when i am giving the field name as &gvar1& and language as &gvar2& of specific types (TDOBNAME & TDSPRAS) it is throwing an error as :
"Type Specification TDSPRAS not allowed"
"Type Specification TDOBNAME not allowed".
I have my standard texts created in So10. Even if i use field name of type C also its throwing such kind of errors.
Could someone tell me what are the type specification that i use.
